    Definitely the most entertaining orchid video, but with great information. Eat your heart out, Jesus Francisco!

    Mate this was the most informative video I could find on Dendrobiums. You covered all the bases with concise straight forward information. Your delivery was fantastic and loved the humor, if you lived in So Cal I'd buy you a coffee. Sorry you had a falling out with Jesus Francisco but you need to get over it.

    Upvote. The flying cow at 2:20... that was awesome.
    I will have to get myself some Dendrobiums! :)
    May I ask you to not refer to months? Rather, refer to a season. Many of us live in the Southern Hemisphere. Thanks!

    I grow them indoors at 22 degrees in winter (at night around 15/16 degrees) and in summer at 30 plus, humidity is always around 85 % and I don't give them a rest and they always flowers on time 😁(I can't grow the Phaleanosis type, never been able to get one to flower again and then they die, I hate them)

    I just bought my first Nobile & I have some questions. I live close to Lake Tahoe but on the Nevada side just over the hill. It gets HOT🥵in the summer - over 100* F (38*C) & VERY COLD🥶in the winter 0*F (-18*C) & VERY DRY so outside is probably not the best thing for me to do. But because it’s so dry should I keep in the bathroom where there’s much more humidity? Or should I mist it every day? And when should I start fertilizing it? I know to stop fertilizing in August which is when I start fertilizing my phalaenopsis’ but when do I start fertilizing my nobile? And stop watering it from when to when?
    Thanks for the info! Your orchids are gorgeous!😊

    My plant suffers from scale insects very badly. I wash them off by hand but is there something else I can do? It flowered profusely tearlier this year but is now 'resting' I live in the UK. Great video, thank you

    This was funny and contained really helpful and clear information. I have one tiny nobile keiki. I didn't withhold water over winter because it is so small and i noticed recently that it has little buds on the canes. Could it possibly flower being so small? Or could it make keikis being so small too?

    Does anybody know how to subject it to 14 C if you live in a very cold place? My city gets down to -30 C in the winter, so opening a window isn't exactly an option 😅

      Place them in a larger Terra cotta pot, half filled with moist spag moss, and make sure there is some air flow to cool the outer pot. Don’t let it get too cold!

    This may be a stupid question, but how does ventilation reduce light damage?

    • @orquidorky
      @orquidorky  6 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Not stupid at all! Some of my bright light orchids like Cattleyas and Dendrobium used to get sun damage every summer. After I installed a whole room air circulator that only turns on when the room is too hot, there hasn't been a single damaged leaf. I guess some of the damage might be related to high temperatures instead of bright lights. But of course, don't put low light orchids in bright light thinking that a fan will prevent them from burning.

    • @lisascenic
      @lisascenic 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ very interesting! Thank you!
      I’m able to put my orchids outside in the summer, but I have to be very careful about burning leaves. In my climate (San Francisco Bay Area), the sun is bright, the temperature is mild, and in my neighborhood we get almost no breeze during daylight hours. So it looks like your brilliant discovery won’t work in my case, alas.

    It’s Nov and my canes still don’t have a terminal leaf ( not fully mature). What do I do?? Thank you

    • @orquidorky
      @orquidorky  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If they have plump and good sized canes, you can stop watering to encourage them to rest for the winter. If they're still very immature (few leaves with a thin cane) , continue to care for them normally and skip the winter rest (just keep them in a warm-ish place) but they won't be able to bloom.
