Connection Design Overview - Part 3: RAM Connection Standalone || Design option, Report, Drawing

In this video, I will cover RAM Connection standalone version; it is an isolated connection design module which does not require any 3D analysis model. It is basically used for quick checking and design purpose. Similar to any in-house application, we can provide all required inputs here, like the geometric and section information, load, connection data.
For any steel structure, connections are the most vulnerable part, and we need to design these properly considering all factors and check whether it can withstand the critical most loading condition. For any industrial or commercial steel building, like a plant or pipe rack structure, or a PEB warehouse, there are thousands of connections which we need to design, including member to member, bracing or base plate connection. To design any connection, we require the geometric data - like section information, orientation, spacing along with the load data, or member end forces. Based on this, connection design is performed.

I think idea statica better than ram connection. More flexible . Staad cant desigm channel or angle shape as column

Sir, is it possible to model any face to face angle connection in staad pro?

No, it's not possible. Back to back angle or star angle arrangement is only possible for analysis and design.

Sir, Im trying to design connection for tapered beams and column for PEB structure in Ram connection Standalone..But in ram connection, there's no option for entering flange property value like thickness, width and also web thickness so how can be this issue resolved

And sir I'm trying to design connection in integrated ram connection with Staad but while design it's giving an error that only American, Indian, Japanese sections are available.. No design for PEB sections

In RAM Connection standalone, you can provide initial and final depth of the section along with section name. No separate option is available to provide section dimensions, as it is imported from the section database. If you are using custom/built-up section, add that section first in the database, then use that section for tapered beam and column.

Second question is that I try to use Integrated Ram with Staad but that's also giving an error by saying that only American, Japanese, Indian sections....are supported..Any solution for this

I am not sure about the reason, which design code you are using? Also, you have modeled the tapered section properly in STAAD, right? Identification of any section including material is mandatory when Integrated connection design module is used.

I'm using AISC design Code.. Tapered section is assigned properly but I don't know why its giving this error
