  • Beginners tutorial for driving Lyft! I jam packed this full of tips and things I learned as well as go over how much I made driving for my first month. Definitely something useful and I would have liked to see something like this when I started, so I hope it helps!
Here is a referral code if you want to try it out:
    www.lyft.com/d...
I go over the supplies I bought that have been useful, a few tricks to know about in the app, as well as how to tell if there are other Lyft drivers around you!
As well as go over how much money I made, I include how many hours and rides it took, along with a mileage estimate.
I really tried to cram as much into this video without making it over 20 minutes, so I hope you find some good value and maybe give driving a try!

Best Lyft driver video I’ve seen yet. Direct and to the point, but still detailed - appreciated the specific examples of overall earnings and explaining how the bonus works. Driving around nearby colleges for shorter rides is a great idea too!

I love driving Lyft, I do mornings only here in NJ, took a few weeks to find the hot spots ect... I have regular tipping riders who i pick-up a few times a week, Some days I'll accept rides into Manhattan which pays $70-$90 for a 45 min trip. Just some tips for new drivers, Don't park at the airport if you have one, Waste of time waiting in Que. Don't decline rides, The more you accept the better your bonuses will be. Be polite to your riders, you don't know what kind of day they are having, I always great my passengers with a good morning, Is the temp ok in the car and if they would like to make a quick stop on the way for a coffee, I always keep a bottle of water in the door for them if they want it.
Bonus zones are now on Lyft, I have seen them as high as $80 just for being in that area and all you need to so is give one ride no matter how short it is and it's yours. Keep your car clean, inside and out, Passengers can rate you on clean car, good driving, friendly and a few more.
Don't ever ever ever accept a ride from someone with an infant and no car seat, they always say the same thing, well the last driver was ok with it and i'll just hold the baby.... Nope not gonna happen, you can cancel the ride without it going against you and still get paid for it.

Honestly really awesome tips I’m just not sold on the fact that Uber or Lyft pays their drivers enough I believe all Uber and Lyft should strike and DEMAND Better Livable pay in 2022 you guys honestly deserve it you just need to demand it It shouldn’t be 50-50 % it should be more like 80-20 % Lyft and Uber honestly don’t have to do much of anything all expenses TIME, and RISK are on the driver. Without that driver Lyft and Uber make nothing. it’s time for the drivers and the faceless Uber and Lyft executives to renegotiate…

I could not agree more! I don't drive for or use any services like this (I drive a large truck to fit my work tools). I was just curious to see the viewpoint of people that drive for those thieves (Uber/Lyft). I had always gotten the impression that the money wasn't very good, but to find out it's a "50/50" slip! I am mind blown. Not even 50/50 of the ending profit, just 50/50 of the total fare. What am I missing here? Taxes are essentially doubled by way of being an "independent contractor" and, the extra cost added to your auto policy for "additional coverage/commercial use". How do they have any drivers?!?!

Drove with LYFT for ten days and had this recurring issue. In Atlanta, Ga if your vehicle is older than 2014 the app will log you off when dropping passengers off at the terminals because the vehicle does qualify for airport pickups. Well. when a on a three ride streak this will break my streak. it happened four times in four days as I go to the airport regularly. After a lengthy chat session with a different rep every time in which I had to explain the entire situation over and over I had three support reps acknowledge it is an issue on Lyft's end and credit me the money. The fourth rep basically said I should stay away from the airport since I do not qualify. Hello, what am I supposed to do with my rider that is going to the airport? I am finished with LYFT since it is barely worth my time with the bonus and certainly not worth my time without the bonuses. After gas I averaged around 12 dollars an hour in my ten days and 156 rides. Not getting rich here folks. I see why LYFT is begging for drivers.

One issue i see that needs to be addressed is the drive to the pickup and the driver getting paid nothing for that. I get 15 minute plus pickup times often only to take a rider two to four miles down the road. Cannot make enough money with that happening. I tried it for ten days and it just was not worth the stress of fighting traffic with no more than I was able to net.

Sometimes I get the bar owners request for Lyft or Uber for the customers that are drunk so I will pick them up I had to me couple of times

Hi! Several years ago, I used to drive for "Uber" and had picked up a few passengers that were either going from a party [slightly intoxicated] or going to a bar [to get more intoxicated]. I once picked up some passengers from an air show that was being held in another city close to where I live. Unknown to me, when the person first got in my car, she was holding an open plastic cup of beer - without a lid on it! Anyway, long story short, this person managed to spill some beer on the back seat area where people sit [unknown to me as well] & when I picked up my next customer/passenger, she mentioned the seat was wet. Good thing I had some towels in my car trunk, so I placed the towel on the wet spot for that passenger.
Shortly after that experience, I stopped driving for Uber. I won't pick up any "bar" passengers anymore because I don't want the customer to get sick in my car!
Now my neighbor & friend drives for "Lyft" and he says it's a much better company to drive for. This video was helpful with the extra tips about having a bucket handy for keeping the inside of the car clean between different passenger rides. Another person mentioned about not picking up a passenger with an infant, which was good to know, since I don't have a car seat in my car as all my grandkids are well past the "baby" stage! @abbyhunker3956 - Also, how does a "Lyft" driver know if they are being requested to pick up at a bar or not? thanks for reading my reply! 😀

What you really need to know...
    1) when you get into a accident, YOU WILL NOT GET ANY HELP FROM LYFT
    2) you upkeeps, maintenance and repairs will be expensive, again YOU WILL NOT GET ANY HELP FROM LYFT
    3) you will have disrespectful, extremely entitled and egotistical assholes in your car
    4) do not expect tips... i spent 2 3 years slaving for these people... 95% of that time i did not get any tip, from hardly anybody,... they will get you tho, you will be given alot of rides at first... they make you feel like you getting alot of money, but they do hold power on how many rides you get a day,...
    5) yes true, while you can get to see how long is the ride... the catch is,... you have to slave for a certain pertage first... and even then, once you do make it to that level, you HAVE TO HOLD IT BY ACCEPTING RIDES YOU KNOW ITS COMPLETELY BULLSHIT... if you decline that ride from lets say 70% and it goes back down to 69% YOU WILL LOOSE THAT STATUS....
    6) during covid times?... you really going to up yourself out there in close proximity with random people?
Over all... its definitely not worth it slaving yourself, your car and time for this app, these people that do not appreciate service... id say f#%k them... hell no...

I'll tell you how to make money guaranteed, but if your a slacker or afraid of work it s not gonna happen. Drive. Drive 12 hours a day 7 days a week. Drive and take every ride they give you. Your gonna make money. Go as fast as you possibly can all day long.

Drove 20 min pick up someone and 20 min to drop off was pd 8.06 cents. Lyft stinks bad!!! Also I believe with everything in me lyft steals driver tips. I wld bet my life on it. Don't do it do Uber. Not to mention while in rt lyft automatically adds rides and they r 20 to 30 min away which u don't get pd for the pickup. What u r pd apparently differs where u drive. Not a big city, u get pd pennies, literally. Do not do lyft, it is a horrible company. If a complaint is filed agst u your account is instantly deactivated without ever asking u the driver what happened. It cld take 4 Mos plus for them to even get ur side of the story. In the meantime ur account is inactive. They instantly take the riders complaint as truth. Lyft is absolutely terrible and I'll say it again I bet my life they r stealing drivers tips!!!

    A couple questions:
Great video btw! Lyft is running a crazy $9,000 guaranteed earnings promo now (200 deliveries in 30 days). Do you think it's possible to hit that goal??
