To a québec outsider it is easy to to believe that it would be an honor for Mrs.Reno to sing with Céline but to us quebec people we know for a fact that the honor is for Céline to have the privige to dhare a stage and sing with Ginette!!! 😉
The man standing next to Celine Dion is Jean-Pierre Ferland. He's one of the best song writer and iconis signer in the history of music in Quebec. He just died yesterday at the age of 89 after a career of 70 years long. Ginette Reno is one of the most powerful voice and always had that voice even when she was younger. Both Jean-Pierre and Ginette's are the soul of the Quebec music industry. RIP Le petit roi
Hi, you should check for Ginette Reno for the song name l’essentiel it’s probably one of her best song she ever sing. She’s one of the greatest signer who ever live is this planet anyway to my opinion. There’s lots of great one but her she is one of the best Gino
If you get emotional with only 15-20 seconds of someone singing in a language you don’t understand at all and you haven’t heard her before, that itself proves how incredible she is.
@@isabelleeaton2666 Imagine if he reacted to the 1975 version by Ginette alone... She's not worse today, but there is, somehow, even more emotion in that one, cause she was feeling it from deep within. It was raw. She's doing a fantastical job renewing the experience every time since, but it's just reenacting, rather than feeling.
Jean-Pierre Ferland is the author of that song . Member of music Hall of Fame in Canada since 2003. That song became popular IN Province of Québec in 1969 or around when Ginette Reno sang it. The show you saw happened in 2008 : 400th anniversary of the City of Québec. That was a gift of Céline to the peop;e of Québec who were behind her at the beginning of her career. 😉😃🖖 At the beginning of her career, Céline didn't know a word in english, she was singing only in french and was and still is very popular in our province. By the way, now you deeply know that even if you don't know a word of french you can be touched deep in your soul by such a voice. There is still hope for Humanity. Thank you very much indeed for your reaction to that masterpiece.
It's the other way around.... it's Celine who is grateful to be singing with Ginette! Ginette Reno is a STAR! Ginette Reno IS THE GREATEST SIGNER in QUÉBEC... in CANADA and probably in the whole WORLD 🌎 😊❤❤❤
Im stoked at the fact that your reacting at our two national treasures...taking the time to immerse yourself in our culture ...there is so much talent in quebec its crazy ...
Ginette is so powerfull... at a younger age she was able to sing without a mic in a big theater and you would have feel it trough your bones... shes a legend
She did that at le Grand Théâtre de Québec. She said : "Do you want to ear a voice? The answer was YES. So the sound ingeneer cut the microphone and everybody was able to ear her powerfull voice in every corner in the theatre... That was a magical moment.
The man who sings at the beginning is the one who wrote the song for Ginette Reno. His name is Jean-Pierre Ferland. And dont worry we all have the same reaction when Ginette sings this song, no matter how many times we hear it. 😭😭
It is so satisfying to see someone experiencing the torrent of Ginette’s voice for the first time. You really moved me. I don’t know if you knew but this was the last song of a special concert to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Quebec City. For the occasion, Céline Dion invited many Quebec artists to perform along with her, culminating with Quebec’s Diva Ginette Reno. The first signer is Jean-Pierre Ferland, the composer and writer of this song.
I am not from Quebec; I'm not even French. I only have English highschool level of compensation of French. Yet, 50 years ago, when I first heard Ginette sing this song, my soul was stirred to the core! It was an unforgettable life- changing experience for me! I was only 20 at that time, and Ginette was not much older, but she always sang with soul. No matter how many times I listened to her sing this song, it wrung my soul out and made me weep because it caused me to connect so deeply to my own core. Ginette is known for reaching the hearts of so many of her listeners on this deep level. In 1969, six years before Ginette sang it, this song was written and performed in Paris by Jean-Pierre Ferland, and went almost unnoticed. (He's the man who sings this song on Celine's stage at the opening of this performance) But when Ginette sang it in 1975, the song became famous overnight! To this day, Ginette's rendition of this song stirs my heart's and causes my tears to flow. 1975 recording: th-cam.com/video/uoi4E-UmPqM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=scfonr2IdWaPzYsa Jean-Pierre Ferland: www.cshf.ca/fr/song/un-peu-plus-haut-un-peu-plus-loin/ For an added layer of emotion watch this song Choreographed to Dance: th-cam.com/video/P85vp0_AyFQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=tOVI-g_6WOtOqPt8
Ginette Reno is the greatest French female singer of all time and happens to be Celine's idol and she to also comes from Quebec. As you can see Celine broke down when singing with her. As for Celine she is an international treasure and what we all just saw was the greatest duet between the two best French female singers of all time. I would of paid thousands to of been there!
Ginette Reno is a french-canadian like Celine and the guy on stage with them Jean-Pierre Ferland is the one who wrote that song to Ginette back in 1975. Ginette recorded many albums during her career but she wanted to dedicate her life for her family. René was devastated. But just after that he received a casette recording from Celines brother with 12 years old Celines original written by her mother and composed by Celine and her brother. The rest is history ❤
Celine Dion is very grateful to Ginette Reno (and not the other way around) for having sung with her because Ginette is Celine's idol. She dreamed of singing with her and it was that night, the first time.
Like a lot of people said before me, Ginette is a legend in Québec, but she is also the most humble, funniest and down to earth woman you can find. I have two stories for you. First, her son owns a restaurant in my hometown and last year around Christmas time, we couldn't eat at restaurants but some delivered and her son's did. Well, believe or not, she actually delivered food to people's homes to cheer them up during the lockdown and sing Christmas songs (she had a Christmas album in the 70s), I was so bummed i hadn't ordered that day!!! The other is a story she told on a tv show. She said everytime she went to America, she would find record stores where you could walk in and record yourself. And since nobody knew her, she'd be like "Where do I stand" "Should I be closer", you know, act like she was very nervous and didn't know music at all. She said she would pick songs that were hard to sing, like "People" from Barbra Streisand, just to see the look on the guy's face, like "Oh, boy, this is gonna be good"... Then she'd start to sing and the guy in the studio would look at her, totally shocked, walk out and call out "Bob, get in here, you gotta hear this!!!" She really got a kick out of doing that. You gotta love her, she's one of a kind!!!
@@jmkay11 Yes, I sure am and I was referring to Pascalin's "Cabaret Les Années Folles". Beautiful place, right? Love the chandeliers and classy old cabaret atmosphere...
@@jcfan68 I'm also from Sorel! Yes the Cabaret des Années Folles, beautiful restaurant /salle de spectacle. Love the velour seats and the gigantic chandelier.
Brandon, I'm an 85 years old man who as lost all my dear friends along the way. Well, I found one in you. It seems we share the same emotions on the same songs we listen to. Do not listen to negative comments by those who cannot share or understand ours. Keep on going your way. Cheers.
I was there live when this video of Celine and Ginette was recorded. In Quebec Ginette is very popular and loved, the vibe when we saw her, it was a complete surprise for the audience. I still remember people crying, that was a PERFECT moment. I feel blessed that I could witness that and living the moment. Still have chills even after all this time. Thank you for your genuine reaction! Bless you!
Ginette Reno is amazing. Jean-Pierre Ferland wrote the song in the 70's and Ginette performed it in Montréal for Quebec's national day in 1975. You must listen to Ginette's singing "Je ne suis qu'une chanson" written by Diane Juster. It is pure emotion, you will fall off your chair....keep the tissu box next to you.
I'm so glad this video was in my recommendations. What a gift. When you say you don't know what she's saying, you actually know EXACTLY what she's singing. The song title in English is "A little Higher, A little Further" and is about the journey of life, in whatever way we each interpret that journey. You say at 13:30 "sometimes you see something or you hear something and you're reminded that THERE IS BEAUTY." The lyrics she belts at the crescendo of the orchestral melody are: "C'est beau!" which literally means "it's beautiful!". You understood her completely. This is the power of art. Thank you for posting about one of the truly great live performances in modern times. In Canada, Ginette Reno, Jean Pierre Ferland [he wrote the song] and Céline Dion are three of our most treasured natural resources.
There is also a moment when he says “so small” while she sings “the sea smaller than oneself” and I was shocked how she was able to communicate the lyrics through her tone and body language, even though he didn’t understand the language.
Welcome to Ginette Reno my friend. What a touching reaction ❤ That's Ginette and Celine. Huge icons. And we love them. The guy is Jean Pierre Ferland. He's passed now. In our hearts forever ❤
Ginette Reno here in Quebec is like a member of every family. We just love her. She always have been so generous and sincere throughout her career. She is a part of who we are. She live, love and sing with all her heart! When she sings, she gives everything. It’s great the way you received it!
Her second most iconic song, I my opinion, is "Je ne suis qu'une chanson". That's truly who she is: a singer delivering her heart, her feelings, through songs, giving out love to all who care to listen.
The guy who sing at the beginning is the composer of the song, Ginette Reno made this song very famous and Celine wanted to do a duet with this great French Canadian singer.
So basically this is how it goes… when you don’t understand french you will feel it inside and you will get some tears. When you understand french…. Then please monitor your blood pressure and heart rate while watching this you cant stop crying of joy, of sadness, of compassion. Its complete madness. I fortunately or unfortunately (according to my heart doctor) understand french;).
Ginette is LEGEND! As someone said below, Ginette's voice GUTS me! The artist is AMAZING! Truly when you hear Ginette, especially when you add Ms. Dion in the mix. Sometime truly, You See God! This is absolutely one o those moments.
Je me demande si on ne causerais pas l'implosion de l'univers si elle chantait en duo avec Lara Fabian. Deux maîtresses des émotions, deux voix fabuleuses...
I was there and I confirm that EVERYBODY was crying, you are not the only one!!! They are LEGENDS!!!! It was magical!!! I agree with the other comments, it is Ginette that is the biggest legend. It is Celine that was honored to sing with Ginette.... That was the most impressive moment of the night.
You got to watch on youtube... ginette reno un peu plus haut un peu plus loin (1975) its one of the first live version of this song... you can see how she was at start... but she actualy start her cariere ins the 60's
It's normal tearing up when Ginette Reno is singing, you're not the first one reacting like that. She's one of the best voice in the world even if she never done an international career. And Jean-Pierre Ferland is the songwriter. He never had a super beautiful voice, and now with the age it's worst but the lyrics of his song are beautiful. This particular song, Un peu plus haut, un peu plus loin, join the Canadian songwriters Hall of fame in 2003.
Oh ! Wasn’t expecting that one ! What a great surprise ! Can’t wait to see your reaction ! Ginette is a hidden treasure from the rest of the world. She is 62 here and still singing at 75. Thanks Brandon !
When you don't understand a word a singer sings but that the singer makes the emotion passes through, you understand she is one of the greatest and in Quebec Ginette is! ;) Love your reaction
Very good point! That is what makes singing so special for those truly talented people who do it well. When the human voice and non verbals and expressions and everything else make a experience that moves the soul, it's beyond words anyway. 😄
I don't know someone told you that Ginette sang the national anthem a few times when the Montréal Canadians went into playoffs, the energy that emancipate from those performance in the bell center where totally insane. Enjoy!
Just wanted to say that i was there ...and believe me i was crying my life ...I was full emotions.... And I was not the only one ... everybody was crying ...I just watched that ... And that brought me right away at that night ... So ...yes I m crying Thank you😢
Ginette is a legend in Quebec. Rene Angelil was her manager but she dumped him. One reason was she didn't want an international career, Rene did. She could have. Her choice though. Celine got emotional because Ginette was her family's favourite singer. Because of her career, Celine started hers, with Rene. Therefore her career, her marriage, her son, is all stemming from Ginette. She still has amazing pipes lol. The whole concert was great, the celebrations for Quebec were great.
Celine was trying hard to keep her composure the whole time, I would too honestly if I would sing with my chilhood idol. At the end Ginette the Queen was all smile and took time to comfort Celine the princess who was weeping like a child. Priceless, raw emotion. Ginette filled everyone's cup that evening and everybody's cup watching this piece of anthology.
I remember going to a festival. Outdoors and over 30 000 ppl in attendance and Ginette singing je ne suis qu'une chanson with the darn microphone nest to her hips and we could hear her jusr fine...POWER
Céline is very popular around the world, but in Québec her popularity come second to Ginette. Ginette is known for putting her feeling into her singing, she is also known as Goosebumps Ginette in this French-speaking province of Canada
The guy performing with Celine, Jean Pierre Ferland, wrote the song, and a few singers have performed it. But once Ginette performed the song it kind of became her's. Her performance was the most emotional and powerful and always remained such, as you can see. She always had, not only a powerful expressive voice, but a powerful presence and projection as well. Un Peu Plus Haut is HER song that she performed for decades. She will always embody the story and emotion of the lyrics every time she performs it. That is exactly what can be felt. But additionally the crowd's reaction... I mean even Celine was overwhelmed and she filled stadiums. Ginette Reno was always a role model for Celine. Celine adores her.
The man in this show is Jean-Pierre Ferland, he his the song writer of ''un peu plus haut...'' (a little more higher) A little higher, a little further A little higher, a little further I want to go a little further I want to see how it is up there Keep my arm, hold my hand

Still a step, still a jump A storm and a brook Beware, beware, I released your hand Wait for me down there, I will return
Still a step, a small step Still a jump and I am there Up there if I do not fall Not, I am there, I do not fall
It is beautiful, it is beautiful If you saw the world at the bottom, over there It is beautiful, it is beautiful The sea smaller than oneself But you do not see me
A little further, a little more lonely I do not want to be far all alone Come to see here how we are beautiful When we are high, how we are beautiful
A little higher, a little further I cannot hold your hand anymore Tell me how I could go up How to go down without falling
A little further, a little more strong Still a jump, still on try I would like to hold you my arms I am too high, you are too low
Still a step, a small step You are too far, I love you Good-bye, good-bye, I will return If I go down again without falling37

@@mikhaelvaillancourt8623 The sense is in the voice of the performer. Sure, it's translated word for word, and a professional could do better than automated translation, but at the end of the day, you get the true meaning listening to the performance, and no other way. As was demonstrated by this video.
Love you man, you are so authentic. Don't ever change. It's ok to feel like there's nothing to say after such a performance. I've seen it several times and I always weep, it destroys me. Ginette Reno is a Quebec national treasure. She was managed by René Angélil, who became Céline's manager and eventual husband. I do believe Ginette was poised to become the first international break out singing sensation from the province of Quebec (she did appear on Johnny Carson), but she chose not to pursue. She is a colossal voice and talent.
To be fair, there was Alys Robi (Alice Robitaille), who was the first real international star from Quebec, but after her mental health problems, she got practically forgotten, lost for a generation or two. It's only recently, with the TV series about her life, that we rediscovered her. That being said, Ginette is right there too. Quebec gave birth to some incredible talents, and I have no doubts there will be more.
Here in Quebec, we have a great queen, GINETTE RENO and two magnificent princesses, CÉLINE DION AND LARA FABIAN. We are privileged to have these THREE GREAT LADIES OF THE SONG.
I've never heard anyone express better how I feel myself every time I hear the great Ginette Reno sing. Her voice just causes the emotions to well up. Thank you, thank you!
Just to say hi. I'm watching this reaction for at least 20th time. And I am certain I'll be coming back to this in future. Love it! Just love it! Love your soul. The moment you said - What do we know? That's the moment I cry. That just came so sincerely out of you. The truth. Cuz, what indeed do we know? No reaction on the Internet could match this one. You are a wonderful human being! Hoping your well. ❤
This is what true singers are. Not just because they can sing the high notes but it because it touches you. That’s why I love Céline Dion especially her french songs. It really touches you even though french is not your first language. You can just feel it.
I think your reaction is a proof of your sensitivity! When Ginette Reno sings it touches your soul ! I' ve seen her on a live show and it" s the only time I felt such a thing, her voice is so powerful I could feel my body vibrating as if my thorax was a sounding board ....simply amazing ! And this is a fact that Ginette Reno turned down the offer of René Angelil, (Celine Dion 'smanager)to lead her to an international career . She declined ,certainly not because she didn'nt had the talent but she didn' t want to sacrifice her family life and to much time away from her children! I have the same experience that you've experienced and this is every time I ear her sing ! ❤❤❤ I like your comment and reaction: sincere and natural!
Hi! Music is the universal language. Your reaction was so sincere and human and gentle that I cried with you. Celine is a genuine singer and true to her roots. Beautiful tribute to her inspiring Diva: Ginette. I'm from Brazil, I don't speak English, but I really liked your work, which is also genuine. touched me. Congratulations! 🇧🇷
Ginette is my all time favorite singer! She is such a generous woman. She gives her soul to people! She doesn't need to take a break from her voice after her performance.... She takes a break to regained her energy back! That's what you call the most genuine generous person! I LOVE you Ginette ❤️
So thrilled for you and by extension your audience, that you discovered this memorable performance, given by 3 of Quebec's all-time best singers!! I truly was moved and that's coming from a guy that knows who these 3 artists are!! Thank you for sharing via your TH-cam channel.
René Angelil, was Ginette Reno's manager. She chosed her personnel life over her career. I saw her once, she was unbelievable. Thanks for sharing this vidéo.
What is hitting you is just Ginette... that's the tone, vibrato everything is pure emotion.... Celine is right there with you crying and trying to keep it together on stage. It's like an older version if Lara Fabian, right? She just emotes sincerity... Your reactions are great, don't listen to haters.
Wtf ? It’s a Ginette song , but “Celine isn’t there and just playing around . “ She wants other friends and stars have their moment. And have their own moment, and Celine is singing her ass off and higher. ( just for the informatione) at the end. She doesn’t want to overshine people in general. If it was a battle I’m damn sure she has some cards left in her sleeve. For sure .🌹
Yup. Those are my peeps. I've heard this thousands of times, and I tear up every time. Two of the greatest voices in the world. Also, the melody... The song itself is just glorious. Your reaction is so lovely, so genuine. Just like those two classy ladies are. 💖
I was at that show in 2008 and despite being a young twenty-something back then, we all felt and understood the importance of that performance. I’ve watched it hundreds of times since and I tear up every single time.
I watched an interview of Ginette Reno a little while back, and I don't remember the story exactly, but I think her parents already had 2 kids but something at the time was making it unlikely they would be able to have more. Ginette's mother couldn't accept that, and she prayed for, not only 'another' child, but a child that would have something special... Well, Ginette was born, and I think everyone in Québec (and beyond! ;) ) agrees that she is indeed very special... ;) For the rest, I do believe that her voice keeps getting better with age (more 'textured', 'rounder' somehow), but the power and emotion were always there. It's like she can't help it: she opens her mouth and the intensity hits you in the face. ;)
You did a great job son. Let me humbly tell you a little bit of background. Celine Dion's late husband Rene Angelil was Ginette Rino's manager until 1980-1981 when she put her career aside for her family. Rene then wanted to leave the show business to continue studying the law when a cassette came from Celine Dion's brother. After not hearing from Rene, Michel Dion calls him and says: "You probably didn't listen to the cassette we sent you. 'Cause if you did you would've call back immediately". It was an original song recorded by then 12 year old Celine written by her mother Therese and composed by Celine and one of her brothers (she had 13 brothers and sisters who all were a musical artists). The rest is history.
Don't be ashamed! Ginette can make anyone cry! I count no more how much time i watched this performance that i randomly discovered. She has no equal when you talk about emotions!
I was mad at you before for talking when these two legends were singing and like you i’ve never had beautiful singing take me to paradise like these two Beautiful voices did… I was over the moon just to sit and listen to this magnificent performance and again like you it drove me to tears…. Even at this moment trying to write this to you I can hardly see you for the tears in my eyes and the emotion is still with me after watching this wonderful performance but I thank iyou so much for letting this miracle happen before us …. you are a gentleman and when I saw you getting up I knew that you have a kind heart and love the music as much as I do Thank you once again
Ginette Reno actually attended The Actors Studio in the 70s.. she dallied with acting... that might be part of her performance.. she studied acting.. also French chanson always had a bit of acting in it...
The only thing that comes to my mind after watching this reaction is that - maybe there is a chance for all of us after all. Thank you for your honesty and for sharing your emotion with all of us. I mean, I cannot believe that you reacted to this hidden jewel (fantastic people explained wonderfully in the comments why this video is so special and so meaningful). Jeez, I would play this reaction video in schools around the globe. Mate, you are the real deal! Although I know this video by heart, I cried like a baby. I didn't know that it's possible to watch a reaction of a person that I don't know, and experience almost the exact same feelings I had years ago the first time when I experienced this performance. Wow. If someone ever asks me why am I watching reaction videos, I will just show them this. You basically nailed it down - sometimes you seek a real human being, being a real human being while reacting to music. Thank you!
Ginette Reno is in the buisness from more long of celine and here on quebec she is (THE DIVA) for everyone she is the face of quebec music for so many peoples here ... she is the *one !!!
René Angelil, Céline's late husband, was Ginette Reno's manager before he found Céline. He told Ginette he would make her an international star. She said no, she couldn't speak English well enough. Then René found Céline. They were almost never seen together (Ginette and Céline), nevermind in a performance. This concert was in honour of Québec City's 400th anniversary and aimed to celebrate Québec's unique cultural heritage. Jean-Pierre Ferland wrote and recorded the song, Ginette covered it later and made it famous, then Céline immortalized it in this concert, played on the very field where France lost its footing in North America to the British, in the battle of the Plaines d'Abraham. It's emotionally loaded to say the least.
I just saw your very genuine reaction to this MOMENT IN TIME of a performance. You have the gist of the story where René Angelil was Ginette's manager and she "fired" him. Leaving him without a big name talent he was contemplating going back to school when this new talent presented itself. As for this event... it was part of a series a huge free concerts organized by the city of Québec for it's 400th anniversary. back in 2007. This concert was the "cherry" of the concert with Céline ( arguably the most famous Québecoise) headlining and with a series of French Canadian stars. The concert was a celebration of home grown talents and Céline was a Ring leader of sorts. A guest would come out... they would sing songs they are famous for and Céline would harmonize and they would sing some her songs... it was a real WHO's WHO of Québécois talent. Ginette was the last Special guest and the CHERRY on top of the CHERRY! She is adored in Québec ( you can see and hear why) and the mutual respect Céline and Ginette have for one another is clear. On a technical note... Céline had 2 days to rehearse all of these "duets" often less than 1 hours per special guest... and you talked about "when you are that famous...." well the UNDIVA sang the songs in keys that would favour the guests not her ( you can hear a key change once Ginette started to sing) I have said this often... Céline is a musician at heart ... whether you like the voice or not, the musical selections or not... you cannot deny that she is a great musician and her voice ( a very supple and power voice) is her instrument. She love sharing music with others and this concert what such proof. Seeing Ginette coming down those stairs ( and Céline running up to help ) made me cry and THEN they sang!!!!! It is like the Queen and the Princess were reunited. It really was a MOMENT IN TIME for most French Canadian who saw this.... I hope you get to listen to more of Céline, you will find she is waaaaaay more than what she is famous for musically .. cheers keep on being genuine!
Always felt that Ginette is a better emotional interpreter of French songs. Celine's tone is too nasal better suited to American repertoire and Vegas shows.
I subscribed just because of this review. I am a big Celine fan, and I discovered this song in particular one day at home when I was playing the dvd of this concert in the background as I was cleaning…this song stopped me in my tracks. Like you, at the time I had no idea what they were saying, but the emotion made me stop what I was doing, rewind, and watch again. I eventually over the next few years came to love a lot of Céline’s French repertoire, and other French singers. Most recently, two weeks ago, I downloaded the remaining songs from this 3 HOUR LONG show. This is my go to concert, when I need a boost. Over the last few years, I have seen Céline in concert about 14 times, but had never heard of most of these artists before I watched this dvd. It’s just amazing..I loved your reaction, but emotion is good..it’s not something that you should try to control or stop. Just continue watching the clip, and let the emotion run riot…..well, sort of..let it flow…..
You are amazing my friend, the truth is that Celine always felt that Ginette could have , should have and deserved the carier that Celine as had and she is paying a tribute to her idol.
The first singer is the author of this song. The song somehow makes allusion to dying and leaving and seeing things from above . That's why it feels emotional.
Wow!!! What a performance (in the future this will be considered as one of the most legendary in the history of popular music) and what a beautiful message from you at the end!!! Thanks Brandon - You're such a compassionate soul!!!
My mother have seen a show of Ginette Reno a few years ago and she told me that she did a part of the show without a micro and it was it in an arena. She always had this voice
Jean Pierre it's im wrote and sang with Ginette years ago. they are two legends here in Quebec just like Céline who was born here. Happy to sing with Ginette are Idole de jeunesse. Jean Pierre wrote a lot for Ginette.. your feelings are amazing. Ginette has always used this beautiful way of giving you Frisian. Thank you so much
I heard Celine in French first, an old boyfriend from Quebec and his daughter introducing me to her music. One day a few years later, I heard a new song on the American radio and the female artist reminded me so much of Celine. When the announcer introduced the artist as Celine, I was elated! She was singing in English!! And she has never failed to be amazing.
I understand your reaction Sir: Every time I went to see Ginette live on a show, I cried so much! This person is « LOVE » on two legs. With her voice so Rich and Powerful, Ginette awakens in us Love, Passion, Authenticity because she personifies all of that! Ginette is not only our « National signer» , our « National treasure » but she is also a Monument! Long life to her! Today, she is 75 years old and she is still so good!
To a québec outsider it is easy to to believe that it would be an honor for Mrs.Reno to sing with Céline but to us quebec people we know for a fact that the honor is for Céline to have the privige to dhare a stage and sing with Ginette!!! 😉
Even Céline know it and it shows.
You're so right.
Fact - Ginette is the OG, we love her
That's right. Dion's voice is very nasal, borderline annoying. Reno's voice is warm and powerful.
@lenom1289 😂 keep your hatred of Celine to yourself. Her voice is prettier than Ginette’s
Funny when he says : "There she is, the legend" when Céline comes in.... lol. To us québécois, Ginette is the legend 😜
Certain!!!!!
yes
Both are !!!!!
2 légendes!
Incredible, this guy does not know JP Ferland 😮😮😮
RIP jpf on l aime tellement ❤️❤️❤️
Hi, you should check for Ginette Reno for the song name l’essentiel it’s probably one of her best song she ever sing. She’s one of the greatest signer who ever live is this planet anyway to my opinion. There’s lots of great one but her she is one of the best Gino
If you get emotional with only 15-20 seconds of someone singing in a language you don’t understand at all and you haven’t heard her before, that itself proves how incredible she is.
Imagine if he understood the lyrics…
Cette chanson, livrée par deux des plus belles voix sur terre, mérite d’être connue du monde entier.
It's the other way around.... it's Celine who is grateful to be singing with Ginette! Ginette Reno is a STAR! Ginette Reno IS THE GREATEST SIGNER in QUÉBEC... in CANADA and probably in the whole WORLD 🌎 😊❤❤❤
Tout les Québecois apprécient beaucoup cette vidéo ! Merci pour avoir faire preuve de respect envers nos trésors nationaux, soyez gentil les uns envers les autres ❤
This was the first time Celine and Ginette sang together in a concert. This made history.
espially considering their history
@MLAustin5 i think it was a moment of reconcillations :)

@@amanoyukkiteru3684 Je suis très fier de ma langue maternelle. Je m’exprime souvent en français sur les réseaux sociaux, plus souvent que la moyenne.

Ginette Reno was a HUGE star in Canada, and mostly in French Canada. In the hearts of many, she still is.
She truly is humble and funny. I wish her the best after this year's event. Go Ginette.... "Céline ont la partage, mais Ginette C'EST À NOUS!"
Yes very down to earth... I've chatted with her several times over the years. She tends to swear a lot..!
Are you from Sorel-Tracy? I know her son, Pascalin, owns a restaurant there, went there a few times.
@@jmkay11 Yes, I sure am and I was referring to Pascalin's "Cabaret Les Années Folles". Beautiful place, right? Love the chandeliers and classy old cabaret atmosphere...

Brandon, I'm an 85 years old man who as lost all my dear friends along the way. Well, I found one in you. It seems we share the same emotions on the same songs we listen to. Do not listen to negative comments by those who cannot share or understand ours. Keep on going your way. Cheers.
Ginette 's voice makes your soul vibrate ❤
I was there live when this video of Celine and Ginette was recorded. In Quebec Ginette is very popular and loved, the vibe when we saw her, it was a complete surprise for the audience. I still remember people crying, that was a PERFECT moment. I feel blessed that I could witness that and living the moment. Still have chills even after all this time. Thank you for your genuine reaction! Bless you!
Ginette Reno is amazing.
Jean-Pierre Ferland wrote the song in the 70's and Ginette performed it in Montréal for Quebec's national day in 1975.
You must listen to Ginette's singing
"Je ne suis qu'une chanson" written by Diane Juster. It is pure emotion, you will fall off your chair....keep the tissu box next to you.
Good je cherchais depuis le début j'étais là c'est sûr qq va lui dire c'est la chanson du gars 😂🤘
Ginette is the ultimate idol of Celine and you will see Celine crying because it’s the very first time that she sing with her

Hi i'm a french canadian from quebec and Gibette Reno is the star of quebec since 1960 she'S really a STAR ❤❤❤
The guy who sing at the beginning is the composer of the song, Ginette Reno made this song very famous and Celine wanted to do a duet with this great French Canadian singer.
The man is Jean-Pierre Ferland , he wrote this song in 1969 in Paris.
Beautiful and really emotional song. Thanks for reacting .
It's totaly normal to have tears after that my friend.
So right when you said "She is at a place she could have been if
...maybe where she always wanted to be". Good insight here.
Everything ginette sing all your hair on your body stood up..and you get shiver..get emotional we call her ginette national she is so good
This was a HUGE moment for music in our beatiful Province of Québec. Thank's for reacting to it :)
Ginette is LEGEND! As someone said below, Ginette's voice GUTS me! The artist is AMAZING! Truly when you hear Ginette, especially when you add Ms. Dion in the mix. Sometime truly, You See God! This is absolutely one o those moments.
Ginette is the real deal. She’s always been, she is raw emotions. We love her.
Je me demande si on ne causerais pas l'implosion de l'univers si elle chantait en duo avec Lara Fabian. Deux maîtresses des émotions, deux voix fabuleuses...
Celine saw an angel that night and hug it in her arms
I was there and I confirm that EVERYBODY was crying, you are not the only one!!! They are LEGENDS!!!! It was magical!!! I agree with the other comments, it is Ginette that is the biggest legend. It is Celine that was honored to sing with Ginette.... That was the most impressive moment of the night.
Too bad Celine’s voice is prettier
You got to watch on youtube... ginette reno un peu plus haut un peu plus loin (1975) its one of the first live version of this song... you can see how she was at start... but she actualy start her cariere ins the 60's
I cry everytime I watch it
It's normal tearing up when Ginette Reno is singing, you're not the first one reacting like that.

Enjoy!

Oui, une grande dame qui a toujours chanter avec ses tripes et en spectacle, elle donne tout.
Being from quebec , i appreciate your reaction so much. Thank you
Ginette Reno is a queen!! She was our Quebec diva way before Celine. Celine is the one who's honored to be with her, not the other way around! 🤣
I've had the same reaction as you........ Respect!

Come to see here how we are beautiful
When we are high, how we are beautiful
A little higher, a little further
I cannot hold your hand anymore

How to go down without falling
A little further, a little more strong
Still a jump, still on try

I am too high, you are too low
Still a step, a small step
You are too far, I love you
Good-bye, good-bye, I will return
If I go down again without falling37

You can translate words but you can't translate sense unfortunately

The singer is the Quebec composer of the song Jean Pierre Ferland. Celine Dion and Ginette Reno are the two divas of Quebec.

Well, Ginette was born, and I think everyone in Québec (and beyond! ;) ) agrees that she is indeed very special... ;)
For the rest, I do believe that her voice keeps getting better with age (more 'textured', 'rounder' somehow), but the power and emotion were always there.

René quit on Ginette because of Ginette husband (boyfriend). It s a long story, but he was very controlling and René quit managing her because of him.
it's not only that, Ginette wanted to have a family and already had a husband, she didn't want to be international
I hope you get to listen to more of Céline, you will find she is waaaaaay more than what she is famous for musically .. cheers keep on being genuine!
all is well said here...thank you
Bien hâte de savoir ce que tu as à dire. Ginette Reno est notre chouchou ici au Québec. Une grande carrière.
Always felt that Ginette is a better emotional interpreter of French songs. Celine's tone is too nasal better suited to American repertoire and Vegas shows.
@lisebrouilletlinzmeyer2768 Celine’s voice is prettier and more unique than Ginette’s
You are amazing my friend, the truth is that Celine always felt that Ginette could have , should have and deserved the carier that Celine as had and she is paying a tribute to her idol.
je pleure a chaque fois que je l'entend chanter, sa voix me donne des frissons a chaque fois, Ginette est un diamant, le Quebec l'aime profondement
It's been a while since I saw this reaction. Now watching it all over again, it still hits me like the first time. I was bawling again like a child.
The first singer is the author of this song. The song somehow makes allusion to dying and leaving and seeing things from above . That's why it feels emotional.
Ginette Reno one of our best performer in Quebec . You should hear l'essentiel one of her song marvelous. prepare tissus again . .
Ginette Reno is a spiritual expérience
Celine always respect the person in a duo to make her he shine...she is an amazing person. She often hold back a bitt in her duos.
Thank you for this video. I cried my eyes out.
Thank you so much
You are very welcome. And thank you for sharing yours! 🥰
@@tnae thank you 2
On l'aime notre Ginette!!!!
I understand your reaction Sir:
Every time I went to see Ginette live on a show, I cried so much!
This person is « LOVE » on two legs.

Today, she is 75 years old and she is still so good!
