I'm a full-tower case kind of guy myself, still rocking the Cooler Master CM-Stacker 800, non-nVidia edition case since the old CompUSA days. Way too many front panel 5.25 inch drive bays but I don't care ;)
We are building in this currently, so I was fizzing all over the place when I see Wendell and HAF 700. Fitting 2x 360mm rads in the roof is just too good to pass up! Personally I can't get enough of big cases, this build will be replacing the venerable EVGA DG-85 that's been on the desk for years now. Cheers Wendell!
Great video, LOVE this case! To tackle the HUGE increase in heat from all this next generation hardware, surely there is finally the incentive for the majority of people, who can afford to buy the top of the range new gear, to switch to custom water loop cooling, as the ultimate way to cool, stabilise, silent running, and performance boosting (no thermal throttling)? I am planning on a single custom water loop with three 420mm radiators (which was over the top in previous generations, but if you still want silent and extreme cooling, now sounds sensible), with water cooling blocks for CPU, GPU, M.2 gen5 drive (which apparently WILL need cooling), and even DDR5 RAM. I'm currently thinking a Cooler Master HAF 700 BERSERKER or EVO pc case, although I heard a rumour that although Cooler Master claim you can install a 420mm radiator in top + side and bottom at the SAME TIME, there is no holes suitable for a 420mm at the top of the case; so if you could check this, and if it proves the case (pun intended) check what would be the maximum possible water cooling setup in that case, eg. would you get even more 'passive' cooling two X 360mm top + 420mm side + 420mm bottom simultaneously, possibly even something on the front or back. Would love some expert advice for us enthusiasts wanting the ultimate in water cooling and silent rigs. Thanks in advance from a loyal viewer.
Serious question: would that 3.5" drive cage be suited to a set of 2x2.5" drive docks/conversion sleds from a company like IcyDock or StarTech? Or is the layout of the cage too tight for that to work? It would be very nice to have 8 SAS 24Gbps SSDs all in one location so that the cables can be easily managed to a PCIe HBA.
I still keep my old HAF X in a box... it looks haf as new :D P.S.: Congrats on A6000, thanks to the benefactor from my side too! What a great thing for the channel, can't wait for all the testing and shanannigans with those cards :DD
Big cases are cool! (or at least a lot cooler than SFF cases) Really looking forward to your future plans with this crazy case. Stick as many rads as you can in on that custom loop and see how low the temps can get with low fan speeds. Waaay too expensive for me, but fun to gawk at.
A good friend of mine is short on cash. He collected so much AMD FX8350 kit, he finally built it in a heavy-duty cardboard box. It had great airflow. 🇺🇸 😎👍☕
With regards to computational fluid dynamics, check out Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS) which is open-source and developed by NIST. The install comes with a library of sample files/test cases. I script all the samples to run whenever I set up a new machine. There are binaries for Windows and Linux, or you can just build from source.
Even bigger than my Phanteks p600s, with no RGB, and no glass. It's nice and quiet in my home recording studio. When you think about the cost of all the components the case is a cheap upgrade by comparison and I love rebuilding. 😄
It's missing 1 vital thing. The 5.25" bay. This is mostly the reason I still using the Cooler Master HAF 932, and a Corsair 760T and 750D. And yes, my Blu-Ray drives get used at least 2 to 5 times a week. Burning CDs or watching movies. The disc isn't completely dead yet lol. If their selling them, I'm still buying them.
CONGRATULATIONS ! well done indeed ! but the work is not over. oh no.. there are a lot of things NOT on top of other things gentlemen. (sorry i couldn't resist)
the layout of this case is very similar to the lianli O11D-XL, I actually wonder if the side mounted distribution plate for the o11d (for a custom loop) would fit in the same place in this case
Old School Enterprise guy, I dig your style man. Those of us in this industry can appreicate not only this cats knowledge, but he's funny as well. Keep on keeping on.
Did you not watch the video? This case have a rear drive bay that can fit 4X 3.5" HDD's and it also have place for 2 additional ones on that cable cover plate and also 3 more on those multi function brackets in the front area of the rear bay so a total of 9 HDD's can be fitted at the back and also if you really wanted to squeeze more in you have 2 more places in the front bay with those brackets for a maximum of 11 HDD's or SSD's. That is a hell of a lot of drives. Way more then most people will ever need. If you have nothing to fit in the front end of the front area then you can always occupy that space by putting some action figure there like Darth Vader or The Hulk for instance!😁
@@SkyForce6700 When I said disk-drive bay, I meant a slot for a cd burner or Blu-ray burner... All the things you mentioned are internal and not accessible from the outside so they are not suitable for the purpose I described
You just HAF to go on and on! I mastered my calm and bore the storm. Sadly I can't afford this, but I did have the HAF932, sadly it was given to a friend. After it was loaded up and had the wheels on I heard a crunch. The weight actually crushed one of the wheels it came with.
I almost bought one but....after virtual building into it I realized it has the same problem Corsair cases have they advertise radiators placement everywhere but once you measure them and the fans and a reservoir AND fittings...you see you can't use them alll, while on a lian li dynamic o11 XL like I have..you can fit 2x 360x54mm + 1x 360x30mm rads and a reservoir+pump, I really wish it wasn't like that because with almost all high end boards being E-ATX now even the dynamic XL feels too small (rgb wiring doesn't help you'll be fine without 40 rgb wires and two corsair commanders)
We need a build video now that doesn't take any HAF measures. That's right, populate all the radiator locations building a sweet custom loop. With this high end of hardware there isn't really a cost reasoning to HAF a* * it. That being said for an initial unboxing and review, not HAF bad, but how I see it we aren't even HAF way to utilizing the full potential of the case. I also like the looks of the HAF 700 non-EVO, it is especially appealing at HAF the price.
This is my next case (well the non-EVO version.... maybe) I have a Threadripper 1000 system ready for its new home Then I'll either toss in a TR 3000 or 7000 system in the EVO eventually 😈 It'll be glorious!
I really think Level1 could benefit from more lights in the studio. When showcasing black objects, a lot of details are lost - even on my other vise quite bright monitors.
Nah, I hate when people say the old was better, but..... yeah, old HAF was actually meant for air cooling. I would love to see 230mm fans come back and no radiator mounts at all :D
Good lord, this monster would easily outweigh my Case Labs M8 with pedestal. And that big pig needs wheels, or the Hulk, to move it when it's full of water. My lower back would not handle HAF the weight of that thing. EDIT: looking forward to the custom loop series!!
This is basically my current build except I'm putting two 4090s in my build and I went with the haf 700 Berserker because the case is basically the same for half the price of the Evo.
Finding a way to fit all those puns in it's obvious your editor is your better HAF, in fact I bet you came up with so many of them they had to meet you HAF way on the edits. It's a shame but understandable you only Haf @$$Ed the build so far, I can't wait to the see the other HAF with the benchmarks
I looked at this case but the weight is too much. If I could easily detach all that glass in the front before I worked on it, it would have made the short list. It's beautiful but I poke around inside my computer at least once a week. I'd have to incorporate it into my workout. If you're a set it and forget it type, it might be a gorgeous solution. But if you tinker, maybe the Evolve is a better choice. Heck , I'd probably get an open air test bench case if I didn't have two dogs and a cat.
Hello, sorry to be bothering you first of all. I bought a Cooler Master HAF 700 EVO, and I bought 2 packs of 3 SickleFlow 120mm ARB fans, i managed to turn them on with all RGB and stuff, but my Leds in the front of the case they are not working on the upper side, only the bottom ones work, do i need to use a argb hub or did i do something wrong?
Dumb question. How much plastic is there on the outside? One of the things I'm looking for on a premium case is basically minimal (ideally no) plastic on the outside.
I appreciated all of the puns Wendell. It wasn’t HAF as bad as I expected.

The front panel looks like the grill on an old school space heater.
The artic freezer 4U despite the name, is to tall for a 4U rackmount chassis. Jeff over at kraft computing found out the hard way.

When are they going to refresh my favorite case?
The HAF XB EVO?
IIRC i built a dual Xeon X5690 system in one of these.
I lost count the number of times I bellowed "damnit Wendell!"
I hope they make a HAF 500 EVO for micro-atx sized pcs with top and front/side 280mm radiator support
Unfortunately, I felt that too many of the punsor's efforts were very haf hearted.

unparalleled radiator support? where am I going to fit my 540mm rad? (still waiting on a true RV/FT02 successor)
Liked only and only for consistency in throwing puns our way 😂
Nah, I hate when people say the old was better, but..... yeah, old HAF was actually meant for air cooling. I would love to see 230mm fans come back and no radiator mounts at all :D

Wendell got into the candy stash before he recorded this one.
This broke my heart.

Wendell, you are the best. You got me rollin'. lol Excellent!
That's one big ass box if Wendell can fit in there.
Wendell lifting 130 pounds up the stairs? His 4090 shipment must have come in
