Hi there, beautiful video. I have 58 and thinking about getting 58x for my office use. I was searching for 58x preheat routine and stumbled upon your video. It helped me make my decision, thank you 🙏
I gave myself 3:55min to watch this video and I really appreciate it!! thanks for making it and posting it.. I wish one day this will become my morning routine 🤤😊👌
Beautiful Videos, I’m so surprised how little views you’re getting cause the content is super high quality and entertaining definitely will subscribe and wait for more!
… my Arco grinder recommends 0-30 for espresso, but I couldn’t achieve sufficient pressure. Only after I dialed grind below 0-20 and smaller - was I able to able to achieve 9 bars on my Flair 58 with longer shot/extraction times ~20 secs; recently I’ve seen others recommend Arco settings between 0-10 & 0-16 for espresso
Very nice set up, love it. I have the 58+ with Normcore walnut tamper + Ekg kettle too. I really like the Sinonimo knock box, but it is pretty costly...
Hi Shoichi, I really love this video. I have some confuse between flair 58 and flair 58x. How long have you need to pre-heat the flair 58x and the highest temputure can you made with this way. Thanks and have a good day!
Thanks! I have never measured it, but I heard 58x takes few minutes longer to reach the highest temperature compared to 58. I personally don't wait that long (maybe 1 minute max after boil) anyway since I feel the few degrees difference won't affect the final cup.
I thought the whole purpose of the 58x was to not have to remove anything to pre-heat. You preheat it with water and purge it. Saves having to loosen the set screw every time.
Not sure where you got that information? At least, the steam pre-heating is what Flair recommends for 58x. Nonetheless, keen to know if there's any better ways. th-cam.com/video/PoLeUv8oYpw/w-d-xo.html
@Shoichi I'm not sure how old yours is, but the ones made in the last half year or so are allow you to pour water in the top (fully assembled and in stand), pull up the handle to draw in the hot water, let it sit to preheat, pull down the handle to purge, and it's ready to go. Have a look at some of the other 58x demonstrations on TH-cam. The whole point of the 58x is not to have to use it like the less expensive pro 2, etc
Not saying you can't do it the way you are but it was designed to be easier do use than the less expensive models. th-cam.com/video/kf33Zum1Lgw/w-d-xo.html
Nice video. I have almost the same setup (comandante c40 instead of arco) Everytime I start with the plunger down, somehow there is air in the system. Reason why I always fill the chamber, then put the plunger and press.
That's true. I usually let the air escape by lifting the handle once or twice while filling the water. But I guess if you are not brewing back-to-back, attaching the plunger after the fill might be a better workflow.
Im looking into getting a 58 but idk if my grinder would be up for espresso. Im currently using a Kinu M47 classic and ive been making some great pourovers with it and i definitely want to step up my coffee game and start trying my hand at espresso. Will my Kinu be good enough for the 58 or do i need to buy a new grinder for it?
Haven't tried Kinu for myself so can't fully speak for it, but considering it has the same burr size as ARCO, it should do the job. Especially if you're just starting, I'd recommend avoiding high upfront investment as you never know how much you'd enjoy the espresso game. If you do, you'll naturally know when to upgrade 😉
@be_shoichi Thanks, I was thinking about getting either the 2.0 or the 58, mainly for the pressure gauge and I'm leaning more towards the 58 because the portafilter is a more common size and interchangeability. And to be honest I'm not too worried about the higher price tag of the 58 only because I know I do enjoy espresso but would like to learn how at home. Also I'm a manual machine nut (why I bought a kinu) and the cost for the 58 is literally only 100 dollars more than the grinder I'm using. I'll be doing a bit more research while I'm saving and thanks again for the info 👍👍
@@СтасГрищук-ц7б The good thing is it's wireless so it's portable. You can bring it around the kitchen or outdoors too. And it's cheaper. So if you like that, I think it's a good choice.
I'd recommend Leaves Coffee Roasters for third wave, Kabuki for OG kissaten vibe, Koffee Mameya Kakeru for more contemporary stuffs, and Bear Pond Espresso for their signature "Angel Stain". Hope you enjoy your time there!
@@be_shoichi amazing, thank you. also should ask, I'm having trouble between deciding between the 58 and 58x, how do you find the workflow of the 58x, and do you think it still does lighter roasts just fine without the electric preheating?
the body is a large piece of steel, do you find pre-heating using the steam is enough? I am thinking to buy Flair 58 X, I just dislike the 58 with its ugly power supply and i also don't like that it require power.
I haven't done or seen any side-by-side comparison with the 58 so cannot speak for it, but I feel 58x pre-heats well enough. It becomes very hot to the touch just like how James Hoffmann mentioned in his video reviewing the 58. At least, it's not bothering me in terms of the workflow or the quality of the espresso.
Thanks! It's a random item I found online, so I don't have a brand name. Probably you can find something similar by searching "espresso shot glass wood handle"' on Google :)
@@be_shoichi Thanks for the reply. Will do that. One more question if you don't mind. Which basket will you recommend? Have you used the High flow by Flair?
It was an espresso blend (Brazil, Columbia and Ethiopia) at medium to dark roast. The liquid is just filtered water. You can find out more by looking up RDT (Ross Droplet Technique).
Right now I am using 0/26 (Number 26 on Level 0) for medium-light roasted beans. I usually adjust between 0/22 and 0/28 depending on the roast level so that the total brewing time will be around 30 seconds at 9 bar. Hope that gives you some reference points!

Brilliant video, mate. I've seen it like two dozen times.
have a flair 58 and the arco hand grinder. my grinder got sorted with the too coarse problem with shims. Now I'm grinding at the same range as yours.

Amazing. Keep up the good work and content. I am flashed about your capture and recordings 👌🏽
Beautiful setting and great aesthetics of the video! Love your set-up and I'm also thinking of getting the Flair!
Great video 99/100. For that mirror shot, it would have been 100/100 to have a different more close up angle
Haha, yeah I felt that shot was a bit long and pointless too. Thanks for watching every frame of the video 😁
This set up is freshhhhh!
Really clean! Wish you can make a home tour soon!
Maybe one day! I'm now working on a desk tour so that's coming soon.

For the slowmo, is that upscaled from 12-bit 1080 footage?

what kind of shot mirror is that and how does it stick to the Flair? with sticker?
It's from Normcore, and yes it has a sticker under the base. The mirror and the base are detachable by magnet so it's a pretty neat product.
how many watts is the Arco?
It’s 200W.
What size tamper 58.35 or 58.5 ?
It's the 58.5.
Why did u choose a 58x over 58?
Personally I didn't see the value of paying 100 USD more. Vague and fixed temperature control, cheap construction (relative to other components) etc.
@@be_shoichi got it. thanks for the reply!

Did you preheat on top on the kettle?
Yes, unlike the 58 model, 58x requires separate preheating.
And how much time does it take to reach the right temperature after the water started to boil?
@@skublicsgergely I usually let it sit for few seconds after the boil and I feel it's good to go.
