You installed the rain diverter to high on the downpipe. Once the water butt fills, it will overflow. Your diverter needs to be level with the water entry point on the butt.

Nice. Just a quick one that diverter really needs to be level with the top of the butt or slightly lower at the diverter will not work as effectively. You are relying on the overflow to create the diversion however if the diverter is higher than the butt

Geek Street you could get away with a coupler and then make another cut lower down. May not look great but will save you buying a new piece! Couple will cost a quid or so.

Your brickwork will be at risk in the winter due to freezing an you have no drain at the bottom of the downpipe

+paul1962uk thanks for the comment the slabs are at a slight slope and I've got a small piece of down pipe I could connect at the bottom hopefully that will keep the water away from the brick work.

you needed a connector for the water butt so you don't have to use the bigger connector pipe.

the connection on the down pipe is WAY TOO HIGH!! The waterbutt will overflow into the garden...
