Please take this as a compliment but your projects remind me of the kind of projects you might see in vintage Popular Mechanics or Sunset Magazine. Simple, ingenious, well crafted.
I certainly do….Thank you! I love those older magazines and the information they showed. More sound in many ways than you’d find in todays publications😂
Joe, my wife and I are getting ready to move to a new place where I will do some rain harvesting and so you were my 'go to' YT channel for doing stuff like this. I feel like you're part of my YT University degree when I need to learn something I've never done before. Great explanations with no short-cuts or hacks to make life simpler in the beginning and then have to pay for those short cuts in the end. Your projects are always top-shelf material.
Yes, it’s so sweet to see her having fun with the kiddos! I hope you’re able to see her get excited for a walk…. Only happened once where she was hopping and prancing but it was SO sweet to see😊
Thank you! The PVC in this one was about half left overs and half new. And I will say….the new stuff makes me wish it was all leftovers…. So expensive 😭😂
Hello dear friend Joe 🙋 What a father that you already have goats, I love them, .... and apart from that they will give you organic fertilizer for the organic garden and for the fruit trees, which you can add to them once they leave, comrades Composting several months, .....it is rainy time and to collect rainwater in those huge cisterns that you have What a good friend you always think of everything I love that you like the water and that you every field says prospering! Receive a cordial greeting and we will see you again very soon 🌵🌻👩🏻🌾🇲🇽
Great job Joe! Love the very entertaining goats and chickens. Adorable. Your projects are always so well thought out and well executed, including the videos. Always impressed.
I love watching the goats ripping around the pen and up and over stuff at full speed. I've never been exposed to goats much and they're just so different.
They are such cool creatures! I never knew they were very intelligent and until I started raising them myself now I have Alpine dairy goats and realize how cool they are!
I did the exact same thing a few months ago. The problem is here in the desert the water would literally get dirty in a few days and our goats wouldn’t drink it. I changed the bucket to a nipple waterer for goats . Clean water and no maintenance. Our goats love it. 👍🏼
Joe, you are such a great guy of information & making it all work wonderfully. 👏 You should write a book of all your projects. I'm sure us folks would buy it in a heartbeat, sir. Keep up the great work & showing us your cool projects, Chris from Missouri
Absolutely brilliant. Not only nice on the eyes but a genius too. What a great, simple and straightforward system. No need to pay out lots of money for special filters. Thank you again for the great video.
Thanks for sharing this insightful video. Have you considered adding a small pan under the first flush drain hole to accommodate your chickens? Hopefully you will continue capturing rainwater as your monsoon season tapers off. Wishing you and your family a blessed week, nourishing rain, gentle weather and restful evenings. Peace brother
Not sure, but it’s not a bad idea. But more likely I’d add a bucket so that I could pour over a plant. And May you and your family have a blessed week as well CG😊🙏
Sounds like Belle is ready for an adult beverage too, after doing zoomies with the younger gals! 🤣 Thanks for the reminder of how to do the first flush set-up. We've decided we'll be adding a shed to the yard and I will be making sure to add gutters so we can catch as much rain as possible. This showed me right what to do since we won't have space for as big a cistern as off the house downspouts.
Pretty cool goat's are awesome animals i had goat's when i was younger goat kid are the most adorable animals that i have ever seen i am a new subscriber
Concerning algae, the IBC tank can be pulled out of the cage and wrapped in 6-ply black plastic then reinserted in the cage. The lack of sunlight with prevent growth. Great vids. Glad I found your channel!
Goats are so much fun! Omg. How cute are they!??? That drink looks delicious! I remember that feeling of needing to be milked. 🤣 It’s a bit uncomfortable to say the least. 😂👍🥰
😂 oh yeah, Belle WANTS to be milked and gets up on the stand when we come in with her treats during that time. While I don’t know first hand, I do know that it can be painful from when Marley was young! Moms are the best!😊🙏
Goats are awesome lol I have Alpine dairy goats and sometimes just sit and watch them play it's like therapy! When my girls are ready to be milked they jump up on their stand have to do it every 12 hours!
Great and simple video Joe! I may be busy getting ready for winter here but I really need to do some rain catchment (next year) and you are the channel I go to for that! You have explained it enough times that I think I am finally getting it 🤣 The goats are so much like puppies!
First year after getting my IBC tote for rainwater it stayed quite clean all summer but every year after that it pretty quickly grows a lot of alga despite me powerwashing it thoroughly every spring. I probably need to either paint it black or build some kind of plywood cover for it. Luckily it's just for watering the garden so not a big deal. These videos are extremely insipring. Really nice place you got there.
Yes, the light is the biggest thing for algae growth. So I will eventually paint it or cover it. But it is unpainted in this video as I needed to get it finished to be ready for our next rain as we are getting close to the end of our monsoon.
Simple yet Brilliant Design, Joe! And what a great activity to involve your daughter with! That mama goat and those 2 kids (unrelated, lol) provide an entertainment spectacle all by themselves! They are hilarious 😂!
as always, *amazingly nice!* 😎 you need to cover/paint that tank though, otherwise algae will go nuts in it, with all the sun you get. lol, those goats look so happy...no wonder, they have the nicest house in the history of goats!
@@homesteadonomics well, you could always weld-together a bunch more of the movie theater angle iron into walls and a roof. 🤣lol, that was probably the best gift i've ever even heard of! and a noble end for good old-fashioned american heavy metal.
Nice to see a quick video that shows the whole system. It will be interesting to see how much rain this next storm is supposed to dump and see if it fills the tank. The chickens seem to like you flush system. Do the goats only really act up when you guys are around or are they just rambunctious anytime? Love the goat footage. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you! Yes, if we get a good 1.5-2” it’ll fill that thing up for sure. This roof is 12x21’ so it should collect approx 120-130 gallons for each inch. Of course that depends on how much of a downpour. If it’s crazy hard then some will likely skip over that inlet screen. Hopefully I’ll be home and be able to get some of it on camera!
…..oh yes, They do play like that sometimes when we are not around. But I think the little ones are more motivated when we are there. Especially my daughter 😂
Love your videos, been watching since the beekeeping days (always hopefull for a resurgance) but have been inspired to put a rainwater collection on my roof even though I live in a super dry part of CA
hello and thank you for your sharing! I appreciate the knowledge and clarity you bring to this still growing topic. do you have a method or an idea how to deal with the strong sounds of rain?
Rainwater harvesting is so cool. We have a 30 acre block and I’m wanting to catch rainwater from the shipping container we have up there. We would need to build a roof and have a gutter on there with maybe some ibc totes. Not that we live up there but for when we are up there. I love the rainwater harvesting video btw.
Have you thought about putting up a 24x7 live stream of the goats? Like the timcast chicken city.. does surprisingly well, plus people can super chat to have treats dropped into the pen.
Very cool water system! Just found your channel And I subscribed. I Raise Alpine dairy goats and this system looks like it would be perfect For my ranch thank you for showing all the details! Your goats look like they're having a very fun time I love to watch goats play!😁
