Where does water go when the water butt is full?

It has never been full yet, we use a lot of water all year round. it is feed from a small roof area, but I did drill a hole in the top at the over flow point to allow excess water out. If our water needs change in the future this will give me the option to add a second butt

You could have secured the top of the stand with cable ties, making the structure more solid to bare the weight of a full butt of water.

Once the water butt was placed onto the stand and filled with some water. The stand became a lot more stable and secure

I'll probably do that. Not keen on these three part bases. Some designs come with three plastic links to secure them together; tie wraps maybe the next best thing.

I’m planning to do something similar to my garage downpipe but not sure whether to do it your way or use the kit that usually comes with Water Butts.
If I do it your way I’ll have to buy an extra elbow piece n put in an extension like yours most likely…
    So has it ever overfilled?

If you are installing new gutter then my way would be best as you can customize it to the position of your water butt. But if you are planning on using existing gutting then the kit would be best and cheaper

It’s the concave part of the stand , not convex !
