    Really impressed by David Anton matching Magnus move for move in a difficult endgame where he was down a pawn and Magnus had two connected passed pawns with a bishop. I thought Magnus would grind it out but David definitely earned a lot of respect.

      It’s classical chess, which has generous time controls (in this case, 100 minutes for 40 moves, 50 minutes for the next 20 moves, and 15 minutes after that with 30-second increments), so one game can go on for a long while.

  • @idulus
    @idulus 3 ปีที่แล้ว +133

    Fun fact: According to the engine, Magnus had one single inaccuracy by missing that rook move Agadmator pointed out. This inaccuracy turned this from a winning endgame for Magnus in a draw. Crazy how one sinlge slight inaccuracy in a 69 move game can make the difference between a win and a draw.

      Nf4 comes with check so no time for ... Bd7. Instead ... gxf5 then after Rxa4 black has ... fxe4+ if then Kxe4 then ... Rh4 wins the white rook, so it looks like black is up two pawns? The e pawn will eventualy fall and the R+p ending is likely a draw since the pawn is on the h-file

      Yeah, but after Nf5+; gxf5, Rxa4; fxe4+ and the white king can't grab the e4 pawn because it would lose the rook with Rh4+. Rook against rook and black wins a pawn, however the two black pawns are isolated so it would be hard to protect them probablly
