If only Dubov studied superior players like GM Felix Lengyel, he would've instantly spotted that wooden shield move and bing bang boom he wins the game.
Don’t think so Adgmator is showing engine’s line. Even Carlsen made mistake with so little times and u think Dubov would find 3500 elo lines out of nothing ??? Both of them know about the wooden shield but it still doesn’t help.
Felix and Charles should coach Dubov & Magnus. It was really pathetic watching these two try to emulate the genius of the wooden shield, but you can tell Dubov is scared to play it and Magnus just doesn't understand. Sad.

4:02 I don't know how accurate it is to say that Dubov had all that in his home preparation. It's been a new game for quite a while, a lot of moves have already been played. I think it's more safe to assume that he just made a good move, because he is a good player.
@@RayyanKhanRayyanKhan lol , saying he found that move on the board is a better compliment than saying he prepared it from home. So he gave a better compliment for dubov , idk in which he is jealous lol .
Very Very Very interesting spot @ 17:13. Dubov moves his dark-square Bishop to A5. And, upon first glance, it appears Magnus should move Rook C5, to have a double-attack on the bishops on the A/D files. Yet, Dubov would undoubtedly move B4 if Magnus did this, and that seals the game as it comes w/ an attack on the rook & a pin. GG.
Thanks for explaining the 50 move rule and a pawn move, I wasn't 100% clear about that but I do dread those end games. I would think that is something computers have mastered beyond human ability.
Hey agad, it's my birthday today! The first thing i did after waking up was to watch your video. Thank you for making me fall in love with this beautiful game. Congratulations on 1 million..many more to come ❤
#suggestion Hi Agadmator, in this tournament dubov played a very interesting game with 4 queens on the board. I don’t remember who the opposition was but I believe it was the game right before dubov vs carlsen. Thanks.
@ 4:02, after c5 if black played the original shown line of ...bxc5 a3 cxd4 axb4 axb4 and white cannot stop ...c5 the next move. this leads to almost the same position as the played line except that black has its extra pawn on e5, which seems is very important since it makes ...c4 much harder to stop (and ofc is also an extra pawn ie 3 pawns for the bishop instead of 2). white does get an extra tempo in that line since black needs to use a turn to push ...c5 but I'm not sure how useful that tempo is in a pretty closed position. the turn does give white a chance to give back the piece with nxd4 cxd4 Bxd4 but that doesn't seem favorable at all as black then plays ...c5 anyway, you are down a pawn as well as black having two passed pawns and white has no compensation that i see. outside of the nxd4 sacrifice, the turn could maybe be used for f4 to remove that e5 pawn supporting the queenside passed pawns, but that gives the black knight a great outpost on e5 and again i don't see how the half open f file could be worth more than the extra pawn and the knight outpost, in comparison with the line that was played. another option is to advance the rook and potentially double rooks on the a file, but if you play Ra7 black prob just response ...Ra8 benefitting from trading off one rook, while if you play Ra6 (which prevents ...Ra8) black just plays ...c5 if you play Rfa1 black can prob play ...c4 immediately and honestly the rooks on the a file just feel misplaced to me. (and if u aren't doubling rooks on the a file or playing f4, then what is the extra tempo giving you as those are the only parts of the position that aren't completely closed) white maybe gets a smol amount of counterplay in comparison to the played line but black preserving the e5 pawn seems much, much more valuable. also in this line black's knight is still on d7 rather than on b6 in the played line, but if anything that seems a much better square for the knight, as black's rooks want to be on b8 and c8, the knight on d7 obv protects the e5 pawn as well as the c5 pawn, and also potentially in the future if black pushes ...c4 and ...c3, c5 becomes a great square for the knight as it watches b3 and d3, while on c3 the pawn is protected by the b and or d pawn so protecting it with a rook on c8 is not needed. when the queen is on e7 the knight on d7 is maybe slightly in the way e.g. with possible pin from a white rook on a7 but the queen obv can move / probably wants to anyway maybe to the d file.
Hey I am a bit late..but @ 6:15 wasn't taking the d4 pawn with the bishop an idea..as black can't take back with both the c5 pawn with and the queen obviously
At 13:49, is there a reason Dubov couldn't have played bishop to e5 with check and captured the rook? I don't see any reason he couldn't have, so maybe both players just missed it, or is there something I'm missing?
6:40 could Bf1 Qa7(since i figured the outcoming position of Qb6 is worse because you need the knight on b6 to attack whites bishop, so you allow the rook to come to a1 with tempo), Ra1 Qc7, Bc4 Kb6 an improvement? If the knight captures the bishop, whites Queen gets centralized and the Rook can come to e1 support e5
