@@traeirby lol, yeah man, that's a spiritually challenging experience. Oh hey, I forgot to mention! There was a glaring omission in the mimic segment. You forgot the scariest part: their total absence in Elden Ring. I smacked almost every chest in that game my first playthrough. Which, now that I've typed it and read it back really speaks to their impact...
Regarding number one, I have a story. On my first playthrough, I didn't even really want to play Dark Souls, but my friends were so hooked on it that they just held my hand throughout the whole parkour from Undead Burg to Anor Londo. Then one of them told me we should definitely go to the Painted World because it was such a cool area. We went in, and we kept dying and dying. Sometimes it was my fault, sometimes his. Eventually I ran out of humanity and just stayed there. Stuck in the Painted World, an unskilled player. I could have dropped the game, and I did, for a little while. Then I made another character and played the game the way it's meant to be played: learning as you go, instead of being dragged forward by veterans. Eventually I went back to that save and got out of the painting, wiser and stronger.
Though not quite as bad, i did the same thing as your number one in the Catacombs after i beat Pinwheel early on and used the bonfire right after that fight. Then every time i tried heading back to Firelink i had to face all those bonewheels. Brrrrrr, terrifying
You got it friend! I’m currently working on a viewer suggested video! Also, thanks so much I never get tired of hearing when someone enjoys the videos!
I once rested at the second bonfire in the tomb of the giants without a light source or lordvessel. I truly and deeply praised the sun once I had finally escaped, and gratefully basked in it's life giving glow.
"I know this one's gonna sound a little weird, hear me out. Oswald of Carim." No, I get you. That man jumpscared the hell out of me the first time I saw him
The scariest part for me during my first playthrough was definitely the sewers. Everything from the butcher and the curse breathing lizards to the gaping dragon.
Good ol' Oswald. The dude's probably got a lot of blood on his hands, and he can read you like an open book. But his laugh... Probably my favorite from all the Soulsborne characters
In my first playthrough I was spooked by: - The goddamn flurry attack and jump attack that the basic hollows do - Waking the undead dragon in the Valley of the Drakes - the basilisks of course
Geeze. DS3 take the mimics and cranks it up to 100. I think there are more mimics than regular chests. It's a good thing I got so much experience fighting them in DS1!
I wouldn't know. I've barely gotten anywhere in DS2. I don't think I've made it to a single boss. It was just so different I couldn't make progress. Someday I'll go back and try again.@@traeirby
The "stranded in Ash Lake" stories are just priceless every time I hear one. It's happened to me. It's happened to so many others. But I never get tired of hearing about it from other people. I managed to make it back fortunately. But I learned from that experience. BTW, I am WAY more scared of the big mushroom guys than the basilisks. Those guys hit HARD! They can melt your health bar in a single punch.
I totally understand about the mushroom guys lol they tuff! What’s crazy is that I’ve never heard anybody else get stranded in Ashlake, so I was afraid I was the only person who’s ever done it lol
There's this little, tiny lip that connects of the branches in the Great Hollow and one of the side platforms alongside the trunk. The collision of that tiny little lip makes it incredibly difficult for the player character to pass over what IRL would be a 1 inch step. Gotta run and jump over it at just the right angle while risking falling to ones death. I got lucky with it and made the jump. I hate those stupid glitchy, slippery spots, there's one in the Crystal Caves and the root bridge above the Blighttown dog wheel as well.
I'm a DS veteran and the last character I made the Bone Wheels went and killed Vamos the Blacksmith in matter of seconds, it was definitely a scary freak out moment. I had to start my character over. I should've known better not to underestimate them!
I agree with your first place 100 % because exactly the same thing happened to me. Although for me it's a tie with another location or, a combination of locations: When I was young, innocent, and enjoying my first ever Dark Souls experience, I - at the beginning of the game - unknowingly ventured into the deepest circle in Dark Souls hell for the uninitiated: The catacombs. I've never felt such fear, such help- and hopelessness in my life as on that winding gruesome path that is the descent into the depths of the Catacombs. And even though I somehow managed to reach Pinwheel, and even defeated him after a couple of tries, I then realized that I would never be able to make my way back to daylight and deleted the character. What I've never done myself but have heard tell is even worst, is struggling all the way through the tomb of giants only to end up before a golden wall of fog, because you don't have the Lordvessel yet.
I can totally relate to #1. I had to climb out of the catacombs after using the bonfire at the bottom near the blacksmith on my first playthrough. (Hadn't even beaten Quelaag so no Lordvessel like you.) It was horrible. This taught me to not use a bonfire after descending into the Great Hollow. Just picked up some goodies and warped back out to the entrance.
Number 1 gave me anxiety just thinking about it. I’m on my first playthrough of dark souls and I just entered Ash Lake. Fortunately I have the Lord Vessel already. Great video.
Bro, I had a legit panic attack at the centipede demons that come out of the wall. I was like "okay I know there's two coming up, so I'll just turn around after they pop out and throw fireballs at them" and I turn around and immediately TWO MORE POP OUT. And I don't say "panic attack" lightly, I've had em before, and this was legit one. Great vid.
Oh dude, I should’ve added that moment to the second video of scary stuff, I remember THAT moment! Excellent comment I totally forgot about that one! Also, thanks 😊 I’m glad you enjoyed!
@thetraeirby another terrifying thing happened in my very first playthrough. I kept accidentally hitting Andre instead of attacking him and I aggro'd him. Took him to the titanite demon hoping it could deal with him, but nope, he beat that motherfucker to death. And I also aggro'd Oscar so no absolution for me :) had to restart.
I picked the game back up recently and I opened the illusory walls before I even went to quelaag. I almost stepped into the great hollow. But something deep within me compelled me to just light the bonfire and get the fuck out of there. I came back after I got the lord vessel. I can't remember but I bet this happened to me at some point. Another scary thing about curse is that in early builds of DS1 when I initially played it, curse used to stack. Thats right. On my first trip to the depths I got double cursed. Reduced to 1/4 max hp. Ended my run.
For me my top scariest enemy was the chained prisoner. It's so weird and creepy how you really can't make out what it is supposed to be under the layers of mails and chains... its legs kinda look like the guardians in the royal wood, but someone went ahead and put a ton of chains on this dude, then even staked its body on a massive wooden column that later just grew into the thing's flesh like a gigantic splinter. What was this guy and what did it do to deserve this, and more importantly, how did it manage to break free?
DUDE! How in the hell could I have forgotten that guy?!?!?! That’s a fantastic example of a scary enemy and he’s one that I never hear people mention! Thank you!!
Awesome video mate! More Dark Souls content is always appreciated. One of the scariest things for me was always going to Catacombs first, managing to get quite deep and then being stuck there.
Working on a new DS video right this moment friend! Man yeah, I got really nervous that the first time I went to the catacombs! I got worried when I got deep in there too 😂
@@traeirby awesome game. Full of great memories and still a pleasure to get lost in, even when we probably know every inch of the areas. Love the content! Above all else, just super entertaining and cathartic, especially with Oswald 😂 Idk if you were aware, but the clams in ash lake actually drop purging stones so you can use those to nullify curse if you’re ever stuck down there. Keep up the great work!
Thanks so much! I’m absolutely blown away by the response to these videos! I’m really excited to hear that they are entertaining!!! About the purging stones, I honestly don’t think I knew about them back then as it was one of my first times playing. I’m glad I know now tho 😂
I love you dude. You remind me of one of my old buddies who looked kinda dorky and smelled a little bad but he was the only other guy in my friend group who would spend all night with me playing video games
😆 thanks! I’m really glad you’re enjoying watching! That’s a funny coincidence, because even though I like to stay clean and smell good, I have definitely spent many a night playing games until dawn with friends. 😂 actually did that a few days ago Co-opping on dark souls 3!
i remember finally beating the bell gargoyles after months (quitting confusedly, picking it up again after it clicked), climbing up, then down the ladder, and being so utterly jumpscared by oswald after turning my camera around I felt my ass clench and goosebumps down my whole body. what is this game.
My first souls game was DS3, and the FIRST REAL LEVEL there was that mimic in the castle, and I had no idea they existed, so I went to open this chest because I'm pretty sure it was the first chest I saw, and it literally made me jump! So I went back to collect my souls and I saw a message that said "Try attacking" so.. I did.. I didn't realize it would be the HARDEST thing to fight at that point! AND they look and SOUND terrifying!
Yeah, I still get surprised occasionally at how strong that freaking mimic is !actually just started a dark souls three Playthru recently, and every time I got summoned in to help somebody they would end up dying to the mimic before we can even get to the second bonfire 😂
I love horror media, it’s my absolute favorite “genre” to experience. Dark Souls, an All-Time Top Ten game for me, and the most magical game I’ve played, often comes across as a horror experience. New Londo Ruins scares me and always has. I often farm the Darkwraiths there for chunks and I’m always on the edge of my seat. It’s fun watching a creator explore Dark Souls from this perspective. You have done a fine job here (and in your other scary things in Dark Souls video.) Big Ups!
Oh man! if you play through the whole area and don’t use the skip, it’s so perilous! I remember getting almost stuck there on my first game and having a hard time finding my way out 😂
100% agree with Oswald on this list. First time I came down from the bells I didn’t bother looking around with the camera and went to run out the door and he came into view on the right hand side of the screen right before I made it out the door. Literally jumped out of my damn seat
@@traeirby I remember being so stressed about surviving with the souls I got from the gargoyles (after dying like 20 times to them) and o thought for sure there was gonna be something spawned in to kill me before I made it back to the bonfire haha
Getting out of the Ash Lake wouldn’t be that bad if only this goddamn bugged branch didn't stop you. Imagine climbing almost to the top of the great hollow and running in the dumb piece of wood that for some weird reason doesn't let you step over it, and the only way to go further is to jump around (resulting mostly in death) or carefully walk around it on a piece of texture that looks so steep that you wouldn't even think about it
Man imagine playing the day one build of Dark Souls. Curse stack back in the old days. So you could actually end up with a sliver of health after getting cursed 3-4 times.
Scariest thing I ever saw was in DS2, the area before the Lost Sinner, your waist deep in water so your mobility is limited and your mind immediately starts to think there's something there just below the surface level.
I always thought the hydra was genuinely unsettling, especially the one in Ash Lake. They're actually some of the biggest monsters in the game, they sit in these massive dark pools of water, and they're also one of the worst fights in the game 1/10
a similar thing happened to me in the depths. beat gaping dragon while cursed and proceeded into blighttown. got to the bottom, quelaag fight was impossible while cursed. and terrifying, only option was to go back up. nope, delete retry and completely skip the depths. i cant do that to myself again lmao
That exact situation had happened to me although I didn’t realize we could fast travel until much later and after I had finally made it back up I was relieved but also have had one off characters that have been lost to the quiet shores of ash lake
I love how you nailed the 2 kinds of scary in Darks Souls, where along with time, fear in convoluted. There’s conventionally scary, then lose your souls and slog scary. The latter being the one that makes you put the blanket over your head in Lordran haha. Only in THIS WORLD, are 3 fucking middle aged high school bullies ( Gank Squad) more panic inducing than an actual giant spider that can shoot fire ( Armor Spider). Thanks Trae! Also, the Ash Lake Blues are real my guy… I’ve done it… twice. I just sat on the shore, and wept at Horray For Gorgeous View!
I had the same thing happen what you said in the last entry - but that was with an unpatched version of the game with 1:8 max hp bar because of the stacking curse effect.
Aw man that does suck! Also a good place to farm humanity is undead burg before you kill the boss! Just kill any hollows and you can farm tons unfortunately though it’s soft humanity 😑
It’s really a wonderful feeling how these games put me on the edge of my seat like no other games can do. I’m currently playing the Demon’s Souls remake and reliving that gem!
It's so entertaining to watch this - and brings me back so many memories. I wish I could erase all I know about Dark Souls from my head so I could live all those experiences again. Those were the days 😅
Omg I feel the same way! I’m kinda mad that I’ve already looked at some footage of armored core but I’m also really pumped about it too! At least I didn’t get any of Elden ring spoiled but i would love to go back and drive all those classic moments ❤️

Shout out to the ogs that used the dragon head infinite souls glitch before they patched it out. I taped my xbutton down for days and still not have enough to hit max level. You can quit out of the game to escape invaders also.
@@traeirby I'm kind of tempted to try climbing out of it now just to experience the pain of it. One thing you forgot to mention is even if you somehow climb the tree you then have to survive Blighttown 😂
nah oswald is straight up creepy as shit, and the idea that THAT freak is even one to pardon your sins makes you wanna bring on the age of dark so damn quickly lol
I feel less like a fool knowing I'm not the only one to have soft-locked my game at Ash Lake. Very first playthrough of Dark Souls, stuck on Queelag for AGES, I ventured down the tree hoping to maybe find a better weapon or something to help cause my life was misery with the spider witch. Don't ask me how I made it DOWN the tree when I couldn't even handle her, but resting at the bonfire was the worst mistake of my life. Especially when getting cursed and believing that supposedly the clam dudes that I could also barely kill, had a rare chance of dropping a purging stone, except my luck/odds in video games meant that didn't happen. It got to the point where it was easier to deal with blighttown and the Capre Demon all over again than continue fighting with those clams and that damned tree. I have literally never gone back to the great hollow since XD. Too much trauma.
@@traeirby I'm notoriously bad at video games. Especially games that have any sort that require any sort of fighting mechanics, shooting mechanics, or just need a good reaction time, so of course I was like 'yes, Dark Souls is the game for me' and it has...been fun but not gone well as expected, lol. But that tree...that tree anahilated all my very hard earned progress and while my second run through went a tiny bit better, I still just refuse to return there, even if I occasionally drool over the existence of the cloranthy ring (mind my spelling). I know it's there somewhere, but I'll make do. Sorry to hear that it happened to you as well.
@@fantasyocean4563 the good news is that everyone of these from soft games does get easier the more you play it and I think they really taking your time in the levels and planning out stuff makes it so much easier. there’s been times that I’ve played through the entire game and only died a few times! It’s interesting because now that I think about it, I think I learned about planning for big crazy fights from monster hunter, and that’s another series that I really like! 😂
I would have Brightstone Cove Tseldora at number 1 because I am already super scared of spiders and then the ambush in new game plus just adds so much scaryness
I had a very similar experience with Ash Lake, some how by the skin of my ass I made it back out. I got cursed in the depths and looked up how to cure the curse. Of course the guide I looked at told me I could by the purging stone from two merchants or farm the clam guys in ash lake for one…. I feel like that guide was a troll because I farmed those damn clams for hours and didn’t get anything. I had to climb all the way out and into the aqueduct to by the purging stone only to realize I didn’t have enough money and then had to go to the church. From then on I’ve always purchased a purging stone after beating the gargoyles and I’ve never gone to ash lake again.
Yeah there’s not really a huge reason to go there now that you mention it. I don’t need those dragon scales that bad lol 😂 I’m definitely my using. Dragon weapons at that point.
I am also scared of the dog skeletons in tomb of the giants. I also thought that the entirety of the flooded place with the mass pile of human flesh was a pretty spooky spot in it of itself.
@@traeirby One of the scariest moments in my first playthrough. Kind of how you got stuck at ash lake. I got stuck in tomb of the giants. Because I was exploring to find some equipment for OnS
My first encounter with a Dark Knight in the first Dark Souls was at the top of that tower, and it went a little something like this "shit! Shit! Shit! Who are you!? What's going on! Oh dear God! Oh no!" *You Died* Unforgettable experience
I actually got stuck in ash lake in one of my first playthrough and eventually i also deleted the character after being cursed and trying to get back up this damn tree and since then never got back down there either without lordvessel OR never resting at one of 2 bonfires in ash lake. Also one time exploring the catacombs and finding the Tombs of the Giants without the lordvessel and resting at the second bonfire to then see the gold fog before nito room & realise i had to climb all the way back up to Firelink Shrine in the dark, i was truly fuuuuuucked and also deleted this character lol This & mimics is nightmare stuff
I would add 2 more: [1] ruining your chance at acquiring a boss/unique weapon that you wanted [2] blight town on original pc version & without dsfix mod
Oh dude! I actually experienced blight town on pc at launch it was HORRENDOUS 😱 and losing out on boss weapon would really suck for a Playthrough too! Thanks for watching and commenting 😃
I would take the dookie Swap of Sorrow any day over the Tomb of the Giants. Miyazaki must have went into work mad the day he came up with that nightmare.
Only thing that kinda creeped me out in the base game (not taking into consideration the abyss and manus) was the void in which you fight the 4 kings in. And don't get me wrong, I'm a little edgelord, I love everything dark / spooky / creepy so I felt right at home in dark souls and bloodborne (or right now lords of the fallen) - but the four kings arena is just something else. 1. You instantly die if you don't equip a certain ring, so in my first playthrough I went to the 4 Kings and wanted to fight them but instantly died and didn't go back there until a friend of mine gave me a hint about the ring. 2. okay so you got the ring? nice. have fun fighting a boss without your depth perception. Like, I cannot tell you how big these guys are since there's literally no point of reference aside from my player character and their legs go through the "ground" I stand on. It's also super hard to tell when their attacks are gonna hit you, especially the ranged purple blade flying towards you with a speed I cannot determine plus a hitbox I cannot determine and you'll just at times jump straight into the attack because you misjudged something you have no clear and logical way of judging correctly. 3. Had problems with part "2."? Well good luck, we'll be spawning the same boss over and over and over again. This boss is essentially a requirment check. You need to be able to deal enough damage to these guys so you don't have multiple of them flying around on screen every second of the fight, they can also with one attack take away your humanity, they shoot ranged projectiles and use melee attacks and if you do not have the luxury of dealing enough damage you'll quickly and easily get overwhelmed and if you're super unlucky up to 5 of these guys can spawn. I'd put that as my top spot. Again, I love anything creepy and dark, it was a cool fight. But essentially TL,dr 1. instakill boss arena 2. no depth perception / pitch black arena 3. gank-boss
I completely agree! This is probably the most frustrating boss in the game for me to fight because of a lot of the reasons you’ve already mentioned even though Artorius and Manus are both really tough I don’t think they’re as cheesy as the four kings

I heard one person say to NEVER rest at Ash Lake until you can warp, and I took that very seriously as I haven’t even been yet😂

❤️ thanks so much I really appreciate that! Also thanks for taking the time to let me know you enjoyed watching!
I think the blanket statement of “Realizing you have to run back to a far away bonfire” is the scariest and most hopeless feeling ever
Oh yes I agree!
Though not quite as bad, i did the same thing as your number one in the Catacombs after i beat Pinwheel early on and used the bonfire right after that fight. Then every time i tried heading back to Firelink i had to face all those bonewheels. Brrrrrr, terrifying
Oh man yeah, catacombs can be a really tough place to get out of with low stats, it’s like you need a perfect run AND good rng 😂
Please make more Dark Souls content like this! Genuinely enjoyed watching.
That’s a very harrowing story, and I’m gonna go praise the ☀️ right now to celebrate your escape from giant skeleton hell
"I know this one's gonna sound a little weird, hear me out. Oswald of Carim."
No, I get you. That man jumpscared the hell out of me the first time I saw him
I swear i don’t know if they intended him to be that scary but damn he gets under my skin yo 😂
I'm invested in this channel now .
Funny, straight to the point .
Very factual.
Love it.
Thanks Bobby I appreciate the feedback and I’m glad that you’re enjoying the channel! currently I’m working on the Halloween episode! 🎃
The scariest part for me during my first playthrough was definitely the sewers. Everything from the butcher and the curse breathing lizards to the gaping dragon.
I feel ya, ‘tis a very scary place
Good ol' Oswald.
The dude's probably got a lot of blood on his hands, and he can read you like an open book.
But his laugh... Probably my favorite from all the Soulsborne characters
Yeah he’s so great 👍 From Soft has such good characters!
In my first playthrough I was spooked by:
- The goddamn flurry attack and jump attack that the basic hollows do
- Waking the undead dragon in the Valley of the Drakes
- the basilisks of course
Same buddy!
Geeze. DS3 take the mimics and cranks it up to 100. I think there are more mimics than regular chests. It's a good thing I got so much experience fighting them in DS1!
Yeah, that’s a good point, I think dark souls 2 also has way more mimics than dark souls!
@@traeirby It's mostly Facebook, Reddit, and other TH-cam list videos where I've heard people talk about it.
"Cut his tail off like an asshole"
Bro that was hilarious as fuck😂
🤣
There's this little, tiny lip that connects of the branches in the Great Hollow and one of the side platforms alongside the trunk. The collision of that tiny little lip makes it incredibly difficult for the player character to pass over what IRL would be a 1 inch step. Gotta run and jump over it at just the right angle while risking falling to ones death. I got lucky with it and made the jump. I hate those stupid glitchy, slippery spots, there's one in the Crystal Caves and the root bridge above the Blighttown dog wheel as well.
Ohhhhhh I REMEMBER THE ONE IN BLIGHTTOWN those are trippy as hell!
I'm a DS veteran and the last character I made the Bone Wheels went and killed Vamos the Blacksmith in matter of seconds, it was definitely a scary freak out moment. I had to start my character over. I should've known better not to underestimate them!
For real F those guys! The funny thing is that on my recent dark souls 3 playthrough, I’ve really noticed how much they were nerfed after dark souls.
I agree with your first place 100 % because exactly the same thing happened to me. Although for me it's a tie with another location or, a combination of locations:
When I was young, innocent, and enjoying my first ever Dark Souls experience, I - at the beginning of the game - unknowingly ventured into the deepest circle in Dark Souls hell for the uninitiated:
The catacombs.
Damn, that's a story of attrition right there! I feel your pain, I remember going to the catacombs and never thinking I'd ever get back out lol
It’s just the worst lol you made the right move!
Number 1 gave me anxiety just thinking about it. I’m on my first playthrough of dark souls and I just entered Ash Lake. Fortunately I have the Lord Vessel already. Great video.
Glad you liked it! Yep, I still got some very real trauma about the time I got stuck, and had to delete my character 😂
@@matt-dr4fk oh damn! You had a really bad run that game 😂 I had no doubt that Andre would punch that fool into oblivion he’s a man 💪
I picked the game back up recently and I opened the illusory walls before I even went to quelaag.
😱😱😱
Great job! What about a top ten toughest bosses?
That’s a good idea!
Awesome to the max amigo, this vid is super fire 🔥 Full watch on this one... keep them coming😇🔥😃🔥
👍 😀you got it friend!

🤣 this is why I love this series better than anything! Only here can you get jumpscared by a friendly NPC!
Thanks big time! I seriously appreciate the kind words and feedback and I’m psyched that you enjoyed it!
im in my first time playing dark souls, and as of right now, the scariest part has been Blighttown. leaving that place really was a relief
Oh man! if you play through the whole area and don’t use the skip, it’s so perilous! I remember getting almost stuck there on my first game and having a hard time finding my way out 😂
Brooo, I am so happy I met your channel. Your videos are really fun.
Thank you so much! I’m so happy you’re enjoying them! 😃
100% agree with Oswald on this list. First time I came down from the bells I didn’t bother looking around with the camera and went to run out the door and he came into view on the right hand side of the screen right before I made it out the door. Literally jumped out of my damn seat
YES! I almost attacked him I was so freaked out
@@traeirby I remember being so stressed about surviving with the souls I got from the gargoyles (after dying like 20 times to them) and o thought for sure there was gonna be something spawned in to kill me before I made it back to the bonfire haha

Thanks so much it was a lot of work! I really appreciate that!
Getting out of the Ash Lake wouldn’t be that bad if only this goddamn bugged branch didn't stop you. Imagine climbing almost to the top of the great hollow and running in the dumb piece of wood that for some weird reason doesn't let you step over it, and the only way to go further is to jump around (resulting mostly in death) or carefully walk around it on a piece of texture that looks so steep that you wouldn't even think about it
That's messed up
Every time I see one of your videos I load up some ds1 and somehow your videos and commentary makes the game more fun
Nice! I’m glad you enjoy them! I just finished another play through of DS one for the return to Lordan event!
Quality list. Oswald is freaky af and I also had to fight my way back to the top of the great hollow.
😊 I’m glad you enjoyed watching and THANK YOU for leaving some feedback and impressions!
Man imagine playing the day one build of Dark Souls. Curse stack back in the old days. So you could actually end up with a sliver of health after getting cursed 3-4 times.
🤣 sounds like a freaking BLAST
While i agree some of those are unnerving or straight up scary, i would order this list completely differently.
I understand lol I changed the order several times haha
15:30 dude the clams in the ash lake literally drop pouring stones, I used to farm them in ash lake, so you could cure your curse but you didn't
Exactly! I didn’t know that at the time that’s why it’s funny 😆
11:11 this is why you glitch out the dragon butt with a jumping heavy attack 💀
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Scariest thing I ever saw was in DS2, the area before the Lost Sinner, your waist deep in water so your mobility is limited and your mind immediately starts to think there's something there just below the surface level.
Oh yeah that level is really creepy I remember the first time but actually it’s kinda creepy every time lol
@@traeirby The first time I entered that part I half expected some kind of shark or piranha like creature to attack
@@obsidianblack7249 OMG SAME BRO 🤣
I always thought the hydra was genuinely unsettling, especially the one in Ash Lake. They're actually some of the biggest monsters in the game, they sit in these massive dark pools of water, and they're also one of the worst fights in the game 1/10
Oh yeah that fight is garbage! I think I actually talk about them in the part two to this video
My 3 year loves watching me play Dark Souls. The Mimics were the only time he said “I don’t like that one”
Horrific

a similar thing happened to me in the depths. beat gaping dragon while cursed and proceeded into blighttown. got to the bottom, quelaag fight was impossible while cursed. and terrifying, only option was to go back up. nope, delete retry and completely skip the depths. i cant do that to myself again lmao
It’s just the worst I swear lol
That exact situation had happened to me although I didn’t realize we could fast travel until much later and after I had finally made it back up I was relieved but also have had one off characters that have been lost to the quiet shores of ash lake

❤️❤️aw! Thank you so much! That means a lot to me!
💛 aw man! Having to suffer that twice sucks! I'm glad that you enjoyed the video though!
I had the same thing happen what you said in the last entry - but that was with an unpatched version of the game with 1:8 max hp bar because of the stacking curse effect.
Oh holy crap!
This channel has early internet vibes and I'm here for it
Yay! I’m glad you’re here!😊
I feel so identified with the last one 😂
What hurt me most was in my attempt to save Solaire I didn’t have enough humanity, and I didn’t realize farming humanity from rats was a possibility
Aw man that does suck! Also a good place to farm humanity is undead burg before you kill the boss! Just kill any hollows and you can farm tons unfortunately though it’s soft humanity 😑
I’ve only recently started playing the Souls series but no other game has made me as paranoid
It’s really a wonderful feeling how these games put me on the edge of my seat like no other games can do. I’m currently playing the Demon’s Souls remake and reliving that gem!

Wow! I just had a feeling that there were other people who had to deal with that nightmare!
@@traeirby love your videos, the song at the end of the cryptic places video made my day
I had a very similar experience with Ash Lake, some how by the skin of my ass I made it back out.

Dude I absolutely had the same reaction when I got up there even after seeing the first one in undead burg 😂
I actually got stuck in ash lake in one of my first playthrough and eventually i also deleted the character after being cursed and trying to get back up this damn tree and since then never got back down there either without lordvessel OR never resting at one of 2 bonfires in ash lake.
Also one time exploring the catacombs and finding the Tombs of the Giants without the lordvessel and resting at the second bonfire to then see the gold fog before nito room & realise i had to climb all the way back up to Firelink Shrine in the dark, i was truly fuuuuuucked and also deleted this character lol

[1] ruining your chance at acquiring a boss/unique weapon that you wanted
[2] blight town on original pc version & without dsfix mod

I would take the dookie Swap of Sorrow any day over the Tomb of the Giants. Miyazaki must have went into work mad the day he came up with that nightmare.
I think you’re right 😂
The great hollow story happened to me the very same way on my first play through
Aw damn! I’m sorry to hear that your very first character got stuck down there! That’s a hard ass way to get introduced to the series lol
But essentially
TL,dr
1. instakill boss arena
2. no depth perception / pitch black arena
3. gank-boss
I completely agree! This is probably the most frustrating boss in the game for me to fight because of a lot of the reasons you’ve already mentioned even though Artorius and Manus are both really tough I don’t think they’re as cheesy as the four kings
