That starter is also oil bath. So if you keep the oil clean and dont let it dry out, it works great. I did turn mine to a wet setup. Works fine. Been through a couple motors. Nothing else has failed. 500+ hrs

Your a clutch master! I have a 23 MRPRO but just an average rider. I took it out for my first few rides a few weeks ago and absolutely love the mid range power but I did find it much easier to stall than my other bikes. I'm just running the stock jetting so it might not be perfect but it felt pretty good to me. It took me a while to get the hang of it. I had to change the way I rode it by keeping the rpms up a little more compared to my Xtrainer but after a while started to get the hang of it. I also had to soften the suspension quite a bit as it was slightly harsh out of the box. I do like it, but I actually think I might prefer my 2022 Rieju Ranger with a Gnarly pipe for singletrack stuff and the pro for the faster stuff. Loctite your kickstand bolts, both of them!!!
I went to a smartcarb on mine. I got sick of jetting while traveling. It’s taken away a TINY bit of power down low compared to when it was perfectly jetted on a perfect day. Great compromise

Get rid of the n1ef needle and go to a NECJ. That will help a ton and make it run even better. I have an 18 GasGas with over 500 hrs. The best bike ive rode. Pretty much no problems besides maintenance and wear and tear.

Had a used gasgas125 the original company before the buy out. It was the best handling bike ive ever ridden even to this day. Gasgas had their bikes dialed. Also had a 6speed 250. Around 100mph top speed and rock solid stable but some simultaneously quick turning. Wild engineering and if Reiju is from the same geniuses itll be a turn carving monster.
I had a friend years ago that had a gas gas quad. I'm not sure what model it was or the size but it was a 2 stroke and it was surprisingly fast. In a straight flat line he'd pull away from my 2000 kx250
Bike seems to be outstanding “out if the box” so I imagine once you dial it in it will be even better. (Maybe put a camera on your Helmet too so we get a POV shot you can insert in addition to the other Cameras. Just a friendly request). It is my 1st enduro bike and it really took a beating, but it held up, had 1 starter relay replaced and front wheel bearings and im still rocking the original piston(102hrs). Many say that these are a peaky engine for a 300 and better out of the box for GNCC rather than hard enduro. An S3 extreme head and a Rieju power parts flywheel weight make them chug as good as anything apparently. The Smart Carb people recommend a 38mm for this bike too, something to do with a larger crank case volume than other 300's. Also Rieju recommend that the electric start is only used once the engine is warm, kick it when it's cold.
Love the legacy Gas Gas bikes. Full sized frame, unlike the newer Orange Empire bikes, which feel like X-Trainer's in comparison. Miki Arpa's design is a masterpiece, and the KYB suspension gilds the lily. Love the Rieju!
Nice! I agree, glad to see companies making what the people want. I just got my first Beta. If Honda made a 2 stroke woods bike I’d buy it, but since they don’t I’ll give my money to those who focus on the consumer.
@@IRCTireUSAMoto I wasn’t able to make the Olympia session last month due to work. I caught some instagram clips looked like it rained? I assume you moved the stock clip up to the second from the top? Thx and enjoy!
Haha… I just made a video of me riding a half mile trail in my back yard and I can confirm, making a video by yourself of a riding sequence over distance by yourself with one or limited cams is a ton of work.
I had a 22 MR300 Pro that was a sweet looking bike. The powervalve wasn’t set correctly from the factory (easily fixed but initially I thought the bike was a dog). The clutch was draggy and the fuel consumption was excessive, even with what seemed like good jetting and trying a SC2 smartcarb. Fun hard enduro bike, very stable and predictable with good controls.
Making sure the float height was set right has made a big difference in how much fuel I’m consuming. I think if they updated the clutch, it would be a perfect bike! But honestly, the six spring seems to perform OK in the abuse that I’m giving it. Definitely excited to put more time on it! Thanks for watching.
Interesting. My 300 pro is more fuel efficient than all of my friends on more modern 300s. I’m running a smart carb. Clutch drag is definitely there. I’ve found using GRO oil is the only way to avoid 99% of the drag. I believe that’s what they were filled with new years back?

Would really really like to know what you think about the new Beta Xpro for hard enduro. Specially how the new suspension suits your riding. Hopefully you’ll have a chance to ride it soon.
About the jetting, this is what we have been talking about together Rich. The Gomez edition looks to go better but have not tried this setup. Main jet was way too rich for sure.
Hey Rich, Love your vids. I've been working for a long time trying to get my front wheel in the air with control - the key word being "control". I've repeatedly watched and practiced your 10 part series which has dramatically improved my skill and confidence BUT I am not progressing as it relates to a single blip to lift my front tire which is frustrating the crap outta me. One question. I know the bite point of my clutch. When you describe front brake on, rev engine for collection and clutch handle in do you mean clutch handle in just a hair short of the bite point vice completely pulled to the handgrip? I am having a mental block - which I think is clutch position related- regarding the timing of releasing clutch to collect revved energy to lift the front tire w control. I've been using full clutch deflection to the handgrip and trying to time the release of deflection w little success. The minuscule times I am successful I'm so surprised by it I feel like the bike is outta control resulting in nearly dismounting from the pegs to run behind the bike but the front tire returns to the ground just shy of bailing off the bike. I figure I've become conditioned to collect dissipating energy safely but I have no feeling for the front tire lifting w expectation bias unless I get lucky 1 outta 50 attempts. Any suggestion by you would be greatly appreciated. My objective is to master the double blip ... or pivot turn ... among others. My focus has been trying to lift the front tire at slow speed w control - currently it only occurs by what feels like luck.
I have 2022 Racing and have 1400 starts on starter without any problems... I am using just 4 springs on clutch without slipping and clutch pull feels much better
Great content! Standard gearing is 13/48 are you sure this isn't what's on the bike? Like the bike you are testing mine needed 1st gear for climbing gnarly hills. Once I changed to 13/50 I could do most climbs in 2nd. 13/50 works well for me.
I have a 2019 ec300, 220 hrs.. its been to hell and back .. I run a lectron which I find helps with the lug but rips on the fire trails, a clake one light clutch lever and 13/51 which is perfect for this stuff (12 is too much imo) .. I also have a 23 sherco. They ride very similar although the geometry is noticeable different. (The gasser is a longer bike) My starter is due for replacement but has been reliable. It struggles on cold start (as alot do) a 240cca battery helps alot.
They have basically disappeared in the UK there is a factory rider here that has stopped riding because he doesn’t like the bike … that said its horses for courses, but I don’t see a lot of development on it! I’m looking forward to there new bikes.
hi rich, ive got a gas gas xc250 2019. same platform as rejiu. in 5 yrs only done basic maintenance one piston, one clutch, swing arm / linkage bearings wheel bearings etc. still on original battery.cant really fault it. i would buy another one
Hi from 🇬🇧 loved this. I'm anti orange 🍊 so looking at other options for a new bike. Had a 2008 Gas Gas EC300 which was brilliant. Rieju are available over here, with some good deals on 2024 models......hmmmm 🤔
There exist an aftermarket clutch for this bike wich is the xui-rdi manufactured by a spanish company. I dont know if it is available at the US but Alfredo Gómez has used it at his bike.
I hope you plan to scrutinize all settings over time. Having an '18 GP300, 12-50 is my choice, but still use 1st gear a lot. What elevation and temps were for 38-168 jets to work? I still find low grunt not good.38mm??, maybe installing quad flow torque wing or any similar product would increase bottom, if not having a spare 36 laying around.
The stalling that you talked about on the river isn't you, it's most likely a combination of the jetting (the stock jetting favors faster riding more) and probably the clutch needs a bit of riding to work 100% properly
Sucks that the dealerships network is almost none existent in the southeast. I was looking at going to Ohio from NC to find one. Happy with my beta 300 now but I always wonder how rieju would have been.
I’ve never needed a dealer for mine. Bought it slightly used. Over 200 hours on stock piston and clutch. The bike has been highly abused too. I change the transmission oil every ride. (Roughly ride 2-5 hours every time out)
@@sarahdell4042 oh same here, I can’t afford for a dealer to work on my bike anyways lol. I was just saying in order for me to purchase a new one I was looking at a 10+ hour drive one way. A demo day would have been nice too.
@@IRCTireUSAMoto Alfredo has exclusively used the 38mm SC2 SmartCarb, with the exception of testing the injected bike at Erzberg (which wasn't up to snuff in comparison yet, according to him), for over a year now in Europe, the US, South America, and Asia. He has 7 of them, most of them gold anodized, some std aluminum like the one he used last weekend at Sea to Sky. He even lobbied the factory to equip the replicas with 38 SC2s, but not everything he personally uses made it onto the bike due to cost concerns.
NECH Needle in middle or 2nd from top clip , remove all the compression clickers for 20 hours, 90/100x21 and 140/80x18 tires @ 8 psi. 13 : 51 gearing. Hard enduro mule
The difference in 36 to 38 is down to intake velocity. 36 the intake is flowing faster, better atomisation and you feel this in response. 38 just flows more air, thus better top end and ability to supply more air at high rpm Go 36👍
Hi i got 22 300mr sixdays and it is amazing. i had a couple pre gasgas bikes but this feels better with the kyb suspension. Now i want play with the carb.im with the stock jets and needle, its rich and doesnt have smooth power delivery that i want to have.what is the needle and jets you rode?Tnx.
12:45 These bikes, like the TM 300s, are designed around the larger size carb with a larger intake and engine characteristics that make best use of it. Alfredo Gomez has been riding and racing all over the world using the 38mm SC2 SmartCarb for over a year now, as has top US Rieju hard enduro racer Quinn Wentzel. They have to breathe.
any insight as to why the gomez edition comes stock with a 36mm carb, but the race and pro version come with a 38mm? why move up to 38mm on the gomez edition when moving to smart carb if stock is 36mm?
@@remedialone6987 conventional wisdom regarding conventional carburetion holds true in this case. The 36mm Keihin PWK will provide an improvement in low throttle response compared to the 38mm. That being said it's ironic that the Gomez Edition comes with a carb size that Alfredo has never used (apart from perhaps testing) during his time on the Rieju MR 300. SmartCarbs have a very different throttle rate of opening compared to a conventional round-bore design in that they use an inverted egg shaped venturi. What that means is that the carb acts like a smaller bore carb at low throttle openings, prioritizing velocity and signal at the metering rod to promote fuel pick-up and atomization. The shape opens up through the mid range to the full bore/flow mid to top which is what these engines have always been designed to make use of. So in essence with the 38mm SmartCarb you're getting the best of both worlds. Smaller carb snap, without smaller carb limitation of peak flow/performance. For what it's worth our 36mm, 38mm, and even 40mm all have nearly identical throttle rates of opening through around 1/3rd throttle. It's above there that their sizing differences become apparent.
I think it helps, somewhat, to be gifted rider with lots of practice to handle pretty much any bike and make it look good. I'd be interested to see you handle a well cared for KDX200 or IT175/250.
I have both 23 husqvarna 300 150h starter brilliant never a problem. I have a rieju mr300 pro starter dead at 30H again at 70h again at 100h again at 130h hours. Totally bad system, but it flies tho.
Quinn wentzel and his teammates destroy those bikes. Everything on them and weird stuff that doesn’t seem to be happening on that scale to the other brands.
@@stevenllewellyn8906 when you race hard enduro at that level your rebuilding the bikes every couple races and fixing things pretty much every ride no matter the brand.
@@coleguello796 yes and no. Like a said in my comment, they are breaking things that most other brands aren’t. And breaking without crashing it. I believe Quinn blew a head gasket.. on a two stroke at Keystone lmao. Suspension issues, starter issues, clutch issues. Dude had to pit at numerous races and not just for fuel & hydration.
@@stevenllewellyn8906 ur point? It’s the only race this yr that stopped either of them. I race the hard enduro series in A class and ride with Hayden and Quinn all the time the bikes are solid. Shit happens when ur doing the shit we do no matter the brand.
Another point is the 2025 models and will carbs still be an option? If not mistaken Alfredo Gomez switched from his FI bike to a carbed one during Romaniac's I believe. Which raises an eyebrow.
@IRCTireUSAMoto Greetings, wait, let's see that video, Rieju owners, what would you recommend for jets for my MR 300 altitude 1,500 to 3,000 feet with a temperature of 80° F and in what position do you clip the needle? Thanks in advance.

Looking g forward to resting the 36 I have
Hey hi Rich, how are you! Great video, great scenery, great bike and great ... beard?
😂😂
Very tasteful camera twist. Did look a little like you were gonna fall down the hill though
Hey Rich,
Love your vids.
My 2018 gasgas gp300 stock gearing was 13/49 now changed to 13/50 .
How are you perfectly jumping those logs on the hill? 😮
I have 2022 Racing and have 1400 starts on starter without any problems... I am using just 4 springs on clutch without slipping and clutch pull feels much better
Would love to see you give the 200 a review
keep more of the bike test coming!
Great content! Standard gearing is 13/48 are you sure this isn't what's on the bike? Like the bike you are testing mine needed 1st gear for climbing gnarly hills. Once I changed to 13/50 I could do most climbs in 2nd. 13/50 works well for me.
2024 is 13-50 stock.
In my opinion still too tall for hard enduro. Would be great for trail
Cool . Didn't know they'd changed stock gearing. Yeah I ride trail with occasional "hard" thrown in 😅
I have a 2019 ec300, 220 hrs.. its been to hell and back ..
Might have to check that out!
Excellent video 511 👍
Honestly if there was a local dealer I'd probably be on one of these
I hope you plan to scrutinize all settings over time.
Interestingly, Alfredo Gomez' personal bike runs a SmartCarb.
Sometimes. I’ve seen the Keihin on his bike, smartcarb, and a TPI version at Erzberg. He’s testing everything.
I love your vids man!
Thanks bruv!
How much different is the chassis and the engine from the former Gasgas bike? Isn’t it 1-on-1 the same?
the same chassis.. engine almost the same.. just some small mods
38 just flows more air, thus better top end and ability to supply more air at high rpm
Go 36👍
The ranger has a 36. Those bikes are good too
310 hours on original battery and starter. 💪 19 mod gasgas.
I have a smart carb on my 300 pro. I’ve been extremely happy with it.
@@sarahdell4042 glad to hear it! Happy riding!
any insight as to why the gomez edition comes stock with a 36mm carb, but the race and pro version come with a 38mm? why move up to 38mm on the gomez edition when moving to smart carb if stock is 36mm?
Carby for life dude.😎
Great video, again. You could do with a haircut though! Why can't we have IRC enduro tyres in the U.K.?
How would you rate the Beta, Reiju & Husqvarna from worst to first?
That jersey tho! 🔥 🔥
I think it helps, somewhat, to be gifted rider with lots of practice to handle pretty much any bike and make it look good.
I'd be interested to see you handle a well cared for KDX200 or IT175/250.
Both great bikes! And we know Rich will make them rock!
Thanks Again Rich for your hard work and honest useful info on all of your videos! Please keep them coming! 👍🏍️
I have a 22 rieju Mr Pro and a 23 husqvarna te300. The rieju feels so heavy compared
I have mr300 2022 and friend of mine has exc 300 2024.. ktm definitely feels heavier and bigger and on scales is heavier too
They are going to completely redo the bike next year, it will be interesting what Rieju comes up with.
just engine with TBI and counterbalancer... no other changes AFAIK
@@HarduroSK well you can’t redesign the entire motor without doing some work on the chassis. So it will be an all new bike.
@@jackbozonelos2638 no.. you are wrong... the new engine is just bolt on.. Gomez and Olszowy have already tested it... Gomez had it on erzberg too
I have both 23 husqvarna 300 150h starter brilliant never a problem. I have a rieju mr300 pro starter dead at 30H again at 70h again at 100h again at 130h hours. Totally bad system, but it flies tho.
That’s funny I have a 24 Husky and the starter lasted 30 hours.
You should try next yz250x you gonna love
I got 500+ hrs on my clutch. Belray 80w
I have a 2018 Gas gas enduro Gp 300 and it’s been pretty good bike but it’s just a little flat on top
What are you using to film with tracking?
I mentioned it in the video. OBSbot and insta360
🤦 4:13 😂😂😂
I hope the cameraman makes good money!! That looks like alot of steep walking!!
@@stevenllewellyn8906 i mean Tristian had the same type of thing happen the day before at rorr. no wreck no nothing just random.
@@coleguello796 and how often other than that has that happened?
@@stevenllewellyn8906 ur point? It’s the only race this yr that stopped either of them. I race the hard enduro series in A class and ride with Hayden and Quinn all the time the bikes are solid. Shit happens when ur doing the shit we do no matter the brand.
Rieju is an unbelievable awesome bike 👍 Also Beta and TM the rest is shit 💩.
Do you use first gear in those woods section and river ?
I mention what gear I’m in.
Im very confident saying that in a 300 2 stroke, you will never use 1st gear. Just to start...
“The majesty of it” lol
😁😁
PRICE point on these bike's are KILLER. *Also the Alfredo Gomez edition comes with a 36,,, so maybe thats a tip.
Another point is the 2025 models and will carbs still be an option? If not mistaken Alfredo Gomez switched from his FI bike to a carbed one during Romaniac's I believe. Which raises an eyebrow.
Is this the Dirtbike Jesus?
whats your mic setup?
The 36mm carb is a better choice for chugging.
@IRCTireUSAMoto Greetings, wait, let's see that video, Rieju owners, what would you recommend for jets for my MR 300 altitude 1,500 to 3,000 feet with a temperature of 80° F and in what position do you clip the needle? Thanks in advance.
