Good review of the MR Ranger 300 thanks Rich. Great turn track too. I assisted re-jetting my mates 22 model 300 Ranger as it was running very rich from factory. With graduated testing (at sea level) we settled on 35 pilot, 135 main and standard needle second clip from top. We verified the 135 main jet with plug chop, it was spot on and not too lean. I have a mr200 ranger and my son has a 300. I absolutely love my ranger. About a 100 hours on both now. So far we did put a starter kit and clutch basket on the 300, but considering how hard it was ridden we aren't surprised. They come with 36 mil carbs on the rangers also. Great video as always! I see no reason that open cartridge forks are less good than closed cartidge, when setup is proper (KTM fails here). The open cartridge suffer more from basevalves that create too little backpressure in compression than closed cartridge does (cavitation effect). This means a stiff basevalve shim setup and more soft midvalve with proper float are key. Secondly closed cartridge are stiffer, as the compression system adds extra spring rate. Use one number harder springs in open cartridge and it behaves the same. Third important thing is to set the oil level right for enough resistance against bottoming. With these simple measures an open cartridge is equal in riding and much less complex, easy to maintain system.
Thanks, I also use NECJ and is quite rich mixture, will try with the original one few setups to compare... was looking forward for this review... love the GasGas engines.
@@MkruzerNo i didn’t. I had been speaking with Alfredo Gomez at his begining with Rieju. He didn’t have a good feeling with the bike at this moment. He gave me his carb jetting and i tried it. Not so bad but still far from perfection. High rev were too rich.

165 Main made it much worse. The N3CH needle is richer than the needle I’m running. On this set up, it’ll be a 150 main 35 pilot N1CH needle second clip
I think you have another issue in that case. Have you checked float level? My bike is stock, runs much better than what's in your video. Just trying to help. Good luck.
@@IRCTireUSAMoto N1CH? Can't find info on that but 'H' could stand for too rich a diameter - hence having to compensate with a 35 pilot... But, if that combo works that's all that matters. An alternative to NECJ/W or JD red I'm about to try with a leaner tip is a single taper BEP.
I wonder how it would run with your current jetting with the full size MR pipe(if it fits). I'd like to see you test ride some cheap bikes.. Entry level beginner bikes that new riders can afford. Maybe start with the cheapest of the cheap? What should a new rider start with if they want a new bike?
i guess we go about carb tuning differently because i tune almost completely backwards to your process ya have goin...... i tAke a handfull of new plugs and a range of jets with me to a open dirt road.... make it start and run dont stress idle or mid yet .... install a new plug start it and run it to top end or close as you can , with it still wide open chop throttle pull clutch an kill it all same time coast to stop pull and read spark plug for rich/lean .... repeat making necessary changes till ya git top end dialed..... now start on transitiion from mid to top ( needle clip ) .... now do idle why do i do it this way? well because ya dont spend endless irritating days second guessing dyour last adjustment side note.... only make one adjustment at a time and write down every change along with temp and conditions of the day.... keep these notes
@@IRCTireUSAMoto i do it that way to prevent having to backtrack and change what ive already done .... working from idle to top end is backwards if ya think about it.... it goes along with the idea of only changing one thing at a time so you can be sure what change actually did the most or least versus makin several changes and guessing..... its just easier and faster especially for a person working in a bike shop on comission.....
I'll bet anything that that oe torque pipe is holding the engine back from breathing to it's full potencial .From a advanced riders perspective I'm pretty sure that a pipe swap will let you have your cake and eat it too but that's not really what the bike is intended for, is it
Rich in slo-mo action on his bike, just awesome. But I notice you talk alot about the carburettor, seems as that's a science of its own. Would it be alot simpler if you'd use the injection systems KTM and Husky use on their 2-strokes? I mean, I do like the carb-bikes but I'm not nearly as into the tuning as you are.
You can tune a carb m.. you can’t really tune a modern tpi with out hundreds of dollars of tech. The modern fuel injection two stroke, plain and simple doesn’t run as good as a properly jetted carb. The Rieju was perfectly jetted the next day after filming this video. Took 5 more minutes of adjusting. More on the final setting coming soon.
@@IRCTireUSAMoto I hear you. Well then, I only wish I knew a bit more about carbs. Now I want a carbed 2-stroke, but I don't know how to tune it like you do.
Definitely understand the mystery behind it at times. I’m lucky to have rode so many carbed two strokes that sound and feeling makes it much easier to tune. Thanks for watching!
@@IRCTireUSAMoto I totally get that, the motor is like a musical instrument to you. Like a violin or guitar, analog. I can hear that 2-stroke smooth regular buzzing sound that you like. If you'd give the bike to me I'd tune it to sound like a drunk drummer on uppers with occasional spasms.
Hi Rich, I consider buying a new STARK VARG the next few months. Would it be possible for you to test one. I would love to see you on an electric dirtbike, doing some hard enduro :) br Daniel
The fucking jetting issues are why when I buy a 300 it’s gonna be fuel injected. I’ve got two carbed bikes right now and I’m sooo sick of messing with jets and a metering rod on a lectron.
In my opinion, if you know how to het you can make a carbureted bike run better than fuel injected. Currently on the husky 300 TBI the stock mapping is terrible compared to a properly jetted carb. Good enough for most but I want better.
If yours was rich, mine is millionaire 😂😅 with NECJ on forth clip from the top, 48 pilot and 178 main...but it runs ok, dont have faulty plug... the o ly complaint I have is 60km range😅
suspension out of the box is better on the Reiju. Electric starter is way more reliable on the Beta. If it wasn't for the crappy Spanish GasGas estart I would buy one! It only comes with the kicker because it needs it!
Not true, my Rieju Ranger Bendix failed after 20 hours and I'm not the only one. Yes they put bearings in the case, factory wet mod etc to help, but the components that fail have not been touched and are still pressed on gears with little/weak loctite. Having said that, I still think I've chosen the better bike.
@@HarduroSK 22 ranger. Yes a lot of people had good experiences with the 2018 gasgas with 300+ hours too. It's an easy fix with a tig welder anyway.
This carb work took me two minutes. After this video I put a 150 main on which took me another two minutes and now the bike runs perfect. I’d say four minutes of work for a dialed bike ain’t too bad. I’m still trying to get my TBI to run right.
Spain isnt even better.... Why do they have a Kickstarter? Because they need one. Take a beta out of the Box and have fun, you can hear how miserabel this reju engine runs... And what about spare parts?!

Ktm 300 and 36 kiehin only way I could get NECJ to work was leave it on #1clip position ALWAYS.
Thanks, I also use NECJ and is quite rich mixture, will try with the original one few setups to compare... was looking forward for this review... love the GasGas engines.
JD Jetting kit has been amazing on our two rangers.
Can wait for mr300/250/200 :)
🙌🙌
Good video sir, you are a professional, greetings from Spain..
Great thanks heaps, keep up the content love it.
I had a MR 300 pro 2022. Loved it so much. Especially the quality and chassis. Just a nightmare to make a good carburator setting.
Hopefully I get the carb perfect. Not to far off I feel
Did you try the JD Jetting kit?
@@MkruzerNo i didn’t.
I had been speaking with Alfredo Gomez at his begining with Rieju. He didn’t have a good feeling with the bike at this moment. He gave me his carb jetting and i tried it. Not so bad but still far from perfection. High rev were too rich.
Wonder when their going to be available in Alberta Canada
My Son's MR Pro 300 runs just like my 05' Gas Gas EC300 with flywheel weight, only better. And that's a great thing👍👍
Great video 👍. Question: no dealer is close to where im at. Is part availability a potential issue with these bikes? I do like them but concerned about ppl parts availability.
Central power sports distributing ( www.cpd-usa.com/?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwxqayBhDFARIsAANWRnSUdI34UKfu38YP4ZxAGtS6wCEmdBDXQuOFxjK8oYyww8nOvMuG4ZkaAuBVEALw_wcB ) has a full website and parts available to ship 👍 they import the Rieju and seem to do quite well with the majority of parts.
@@IRCTireUSAMoto thanks!! 🤙
Im waiting to see result after u rode this bike and maybe dial and share what are u change thanks
Yo tengo la 300 y es una moto que te lo hace todo muy fácil y no te cansa tanto como otras motos más potentes
Awesome video, as always! It seems like nothing can beat the new ktm closed cartridge suspension and TBI power delivery
Honestly… I couldn’t disagree more
You can't be serious
Love your channel Rich, great content I learn heaps, I have a beta 300 rr what would you run for jetting.
Thanks for the support!
I run a 38 pilot NeCW needle on 2nd clip and a 165 main
Rich, if you don't get the jetting sorted with the stock needle, try the following:
165 main, 38 pilot, N3CH needle 3rd clip, and 1 1/4 out on the airscrew. Runs clean, smooth, and strong all the way through on my Ranger at 1300 feet elevation. Regards, Warren
Good luck.
Float height is good. I’m about 4000 feet above where you are. I put a 150 in and it runs perfect
Great review, Instead of putting smaller main jet in it, Why wouldn't you drop the needle ?? Thanks
Because the main jet controls wide open throttle
@@IRCTireUSAMoto Thanks -:)
I wonder how it would run with your current jetting with the full size MR pipe(if it fits). On my Xtrainer, the FMF Fatty really woke up the mid and upper powerbands without giving up much if any low end. My current Xtrainer jetting: NECW Clip #3 162 Main - 40 Pilot 1200ft. Might lean it out a lil now that it's starting to get HotAF in Texas. I might be interested the Ranger if Rieju had a dealer near me.
I would be willing to bet with a bigger pipe, possibly a different airbox you could run the same jetting!
@@IRCTireUSAMoto was going to ask if the airbox is restricted...just got a 23 xtrainer and put the FMF Gnarly RR pipe, air filter cage and removed the PV spacer, went from 35/155 to 38/162 and RR needle (N2ZW) in the 3rd clip...it rips at 1000' 60-70 degrees. The air filter cage was sooooo restricted
Hey I looked for my fav IRC tire on Rocky Mountain ATV/MC does IRC not make the regular M5b anymore? My last tire before what I have on my bike now was the regular one and it was great I hear the M5b EVO is garbage too gummy wears out too fast. I loved the M5B and wanted to go back to it do they still make it ? If they don’t man they need to bring it back cuz cross country trails are cut around ridiculous obstacles that require gummy tires. Most people want something that will last and and provide adequate traction it’s whole life
The m5b evo is NOT a gummy tire. Try it. Most hearsay is not correct.
Cool video bro🔥 mu brother own 2023 sherco se 250 2 stroke. Any suggestion for what needle should he use??
Also hope to see maybe a special guest appearance from either Quinn or Alfredo in atleast one of the Rieju videos. Maybe even both at Erzburg??
try this spark plug ngk bpr8iex. probably has a 9 in it. going to yhe 8iex race plug will help keep it clean. the p in bpr just means the porcelain extends alittle farther to help it stay clean. also does this bike use a thermostat like the ktm's? if it does check to see if it has been removed or stuck open.
check the chock circuit. make sure it's not partly still open when it's closed.
E great if you could test a 24 Beta XTrainer Rich, and show it's capabilities.
Would be interesting to compare
Spanish Machine!!!! Awesome!!!!
Awesome vid Rich. Can You Come teach a week in Australia please?
Great content Rich! Could you do the same kind of test with Yamaha wr250f 2020+? Do you have plans to come to Brazil at some point? Tks my friend!
Heigt in cm of the tester?
Im looking Reju next. Curious to see how the 2025's turnout.
Bought 6 Shercos and was brand loyal. Then I had an issue two of my 2022's cracked in similar places * gas tank. I was told by Sherco USA *Cludio that France was aware of these issues and it would be warrantied. *They will warranty for up to two years. tHEY DENIED MY CLAIM, told me I crashed and that my bikes were out of warranty being 2021 models. As mentioned my bikes are 2022's!!! So im a bit at war here trying to get proper help. Thats over $70k ive spent and theyre calling me a liar. lol
Yes, I’m curious how they’ll change the 25s?? I have the same thought about. Hopefully I can test them both side-by-side!
@@IRCTireUSAMoto New motors, They say FI and possibly a lighter chassis.. so they say.. Also been hearing Shercos will have a Carb OR TBI option.. we'll see. Kind of pissy with them at the moment lol *Those Rieju Pro Editions are pretty damn sick tho!
Always a bad idea to screw a customer to save a buck. The company I used to work for was bought by a large company ran by accountants. I had to leave because they ruined the brand that I helped to build over 22 years. Hopefully they come to their senses and recognize that they are ruining their brand. Try contacting someone higher in the company if possible.
@@Madtigertv no changes to chasis on 25s.. no FI... just counterbalancer coming.. they do not want to change what does not need to be changed
@@Madtigertv and the bike is one of the lightest... do not compare written specs.. put it on weights and you will see... my 22 Racing is few KGs lighter than EXC 24
Hi Rich, Please try a current Xtrainer. And Maybe you can get also a Version with Updated Suspension Setup to compare where a xtrainer can be modified to. I stay with Beta for long time. Super fun reliable Bikes, spare parts every where availlable and affordable. Wish i had an Training ground at my house or near, so Hard to Train here in germany😢. Love your channel, We made such good efforts last weeks ❤
How much are the suspension updates?
@@Mkruzer you can spend money for different Kits... A full kyb fork is here in germany about 1500€ and a damper 800€...yes a lot of money. But i think of someone starts with a xtrainer and tunes it step by step, you can create a real nice agile smaller hardenduro. Standard Suspension from a 300 rr is ok, but it could be so much better...gets even better with the right oil and some shims, wondering how the racing kyb line rides. Its Maybe to Stiff for amateur Enduro
@Max-dj5qj an extra €2300. The Ranger suspension could tuned for a lot less. Both bikes offer an engine upgrade path with their pipes. While the 20lbs and 7/8 size may make a difference the nice thing about the ranger is all of the Race and Pro model parts are bolt on for the Ranger if you want.
I respect the xtrainer but ultimately bought the Ranger. There were many more advantages, for me, with the Ranger.
@@Mkruzer no dont get me wrong Please. I dont want to compare ranger to xtrainer... Just the xtrainer OEM vs a tuned Version :).good to hear that you are happy with your rieju
I'd like to see you test ride some cheap bikes.. Entry level beginner bikes that new riders can afford. Maybe start with the cheapest of the cheap? What should a new rider start with if they want a new bike?
i guess we go about carb tuning differently because i tune almost completely backwards to your process ya have goin......
i tAke a handfull of new plugs and a range of jets with me to a open dirt road....
make it start and run dont stress idle or mid yet .... install a new plug start it and run it to top end or close as you can , with it still wide open chop throttle pull clutch an kill it all same time coast to stop pull and read spark plug for rich/lean .... repeat making necessary changes till ya git top end dialed.....
now start on transitiion from mid to top ( needle clip ) ....
now do idle
why do i do it this way? well because ya dont spend endless irritating days second guessing dyour last adjustment
side note.... only make one adjustment at a time and write down every change along with temp and conditions of the day.... keep these notes
I use to do that before I could feel what the bike wants
@@IRCTireUSAMoto i do it that way to prevent having to backtrack and change what ive already done .... working from idle to top end is backwards if ya think about it.... it goes along with the idea of only changing one thing at a time so you can be sure what change actually did the most or least versus makin several changes and guessing..... its just easier and faster especially for a person working in a bike shop on comission.....
I like the Rieju bikes.
So far me too!
I'll bet anything that that oe torque pipe is holding the engine back from breathing to it's full potencial .From a advanced riders perspective I'm pretty sure that a pipe swap will let you have your cake and eat it too but that's not really what the bike is intended for, is it
What boots are you rocking here?
Are you in idaho?
Rich is my hero❤
You’re my boy b soup
Can you tell me what wrist support that is your wearing?
Mobius wrist brace
Who makes these bikes?
Spain
Hi Rich, I consider buying a new STARK VARG the next few months. Would it be possible for you to test one. I would love to see you on an electric dirtbike, doing some hard enduro :) br Daniel
A jetting workshop!
Got that right!
Looks like we're spoiled for choices in new bikes this year.
Absolutely!!
Do you know what slide is in it?
7.0
Just me or sounds little like a 4 stroke(just how throaty it is)? Still sounds like a 2 stroke but just a Different sounding 2 stroke.
Cool video
Never mind all this ancient carb talk- Electric is what is exciting and new. 2 smokes will be illegal soon enough.
Stir that pot!
If yours was rich, mine is millionaire 😂😅 with NECJ on forth clip from the top, 48 pilot and 178 main...but it runs ok, dont have faulty plug... the o ly complaint I have is 60km range😅
I would call that first part of your track the Non-rhythm Section.
😂😂
I love my 300 pro
Can’t wait to test it!
That’s a seat bounce double haha. Looking forward to see what you think of the MR Racing/Pro
She was a bit cupped out!
Check your premix maybe got to heavy handed with the oil
That makes the bike leaner. More oil makes gas more viscous. Harder to atomize.
That being said stock jets are why it was rich nothing more.
@IRCTireUSAMoto true but big jets and rich mixture with make it suoer rich and load up
So the Beta 300 is still your most favourite bike ?
Yes as of now
I want a 300 pro
👍👍👊
Tienes técnica trialistica
I have a 23 Xtrainer. It looks like Xtrainer is a bit better than this bike overall
suspension out of the box is better on the Reiju. Electric starter is way more reliable on the Beta. If it wasn't for the crappy Spanish GasGas estart I would buy one! It only comes with the kicker because it needs it!
@@PrimalEndurostarters are reliable since 2022... absolutely no problems with them
Not true, my Rieju Ranger Bendix failed after 20 hours and I'm not the only one.
Yes they put bearings in the case, factory wet mod etc to help, but the components that fail have not been touched and are still pressed on gears with little/weak loctite.
Having said that, I still think I've chosen the better bike.

Yes a lot of people had good experiences with the 2018 gasgas with 300+ hours too.
I just wanted peeps to know that Yes Rieju made changes to the cover but it doesn't look like they addressed the Bendix and gears that were a headache for the "older" bikes.
It's an easy fix with a tig welder anyway.

Smart Carb sc2
... yeah, that's a stupid log. Just burn it! 😂
A poor relative of hard enduro bikes! Hopefully will become better ..Will become more expensive although.
Dirt bike Jesus hitting us with another first ride review.
To much carb work, and no diling!
This carb work took me two minutes. After this video I put a 150 main on which took me another two minutes and now the bike runs perfect. I’d say four minutes of work for a dialed bike ain’t too bad. I’m still trying to get my TBI to run right.
It is interesting on what some of the better Chinese companies are doing.
This bike is made in Spain
nothing on that bike is from china 😂
Spain isnt even better.... Why do they have a Kickstarter? Because they need one. Take a beta out of the Box and have fun, you can hear how miserabel this reju engine runs... And what about spare parts?!
@@Max-dj5qj they have kickstarter just for the same reason why beta offers kickstarter kit... the bike in vid needs just good jetting, just like stock beta... all parts are available in europe withou any problems.. I have one rieju and 3 betas in garage and had more problems with betas bendix not engaging than the one on rieju
We won't even get into the beta main bearing failure fiasco. Or their wiring harness issues. I like beta but their quality control seems to be spotty as hell. At least with the Rieju I can fix the starter and everything else seems to be pretty bulletproof...
