hey folks, I am riding Husky 250 TBI and raced with it in Sea to sky. After 90 hours within 6 months, I can tell 12/48 sprocket combination is working like magic in technical sections also 13/48 is another option to consider. Stock suspension improved a lot with this generation, but after the race I decided to try wp 7500 cartridge kit and k-tech bladder kit. Now, bike is perfect for me. Enjoy it, Rich !
I disagree. He is an awesome rider but TPI and TBI were not introduced to advance 2T technology. These manufacturers were forced to do this because of the man made religion of environmentalism. They are not superior to carb bikes when you compare performance. They are Overpriced for their value.
@@TorqueDorqueTPI was done for emissions, TBI will be a big leap forward in 2 stroke tech. If carbs are so great why are people are wasting a fortune upgrading carb bikes with so called "smart carbs" ?
For those with a spongy felling Braktec front brake, try this. Take the front tire off and pump the brake until the brake pads are completely closed. Then spread the brake pads as far as they will go. Repeat two more times. Now put the front tire back on and you are good to go. I’ve done it on two bikes and it was night and day difference. Has something to do with aligning the seals in the caliper.
That is such a good call on cycling the pistons. I would just add, like I do on my brand new brakes on all mountain bike brands to grab a Qtip and use whatever fluids you have in the brakes and whip down the pistons and cycle them a few times so there is no stiction from the seals. Then clean everything with rubbing alcohol.
@@Andy-co6pn For anyone that actually rides, removing a front wheel is trivial. Comparing that to a brake conversion absolutely makes it practical. It’s beyond simple.

Not surprised you liked it. Ive got 30 hours on my new XC and I still can’t believe every time I ride it they could make a 300 motor so good outa the box

Keeping it real, Rich! To record with very few cuts demonstrates just how skilled and consistent a rider you are. I have 60 hours on the same bike riding steep PNW gnar. This is the best of 5 new 300’s I have owned. The new frame and fork make for confidence and precision that was lacking before. The TBI system solves the inconsistency that plagued the TPI bikes. Each injector now has a separate function allowing for more precise fuel metering. The injector relocated upstream of the reed block solves the serious cold seizure issue as it now allows the fuel to act as a solvent on the cold injected 2T oil. The improved luggability allows the skilled rider to more effectively manage the rear contact patch in steep slippery off camber situations. To really appreciate all the nuanced changes test the bike on wet mountain steeps. My Braketec brakes work great, they are new for the 2024 model year. 13/48 gearing makes 2nd and 3rd gear more useful on the mountain. As to complaints, the mapping is slightly rich right off idle, and the start/ stop and headlight switches are an embarrassment on a $12,000 dirt bike. Small potatoes, really.
My only complaint about my 24 xcw is they suck gas like crazy. Only get 40-50 miles tpi was way better on fuel. That being said I love the 24 on all other levels.
Great content as always Rich! I’d love to get your thoughts on a Rieju mr pro and how it stacks up against the other 300s, I’m ready for a new bike now and stuck between those 2
I take my hat off to you Rich. I watched one of your older videos the other day when you were riding a TC250 and converting it to Enduro duty. Your skills and dedication to your craft is impressive.
To get a better front brake feel do a bed in procedure. It allows the pad to mate to the rotor and leaves a film of friction material on the rotor. It will give you a more consistent feel and more bite. It may also need a bleed but any pad and rotor should have this procedure performed for optimal performance. New set of pads. Redo the procedure

The motorcycle swich off when you have fuel in the tank. Around 1 or 1,5 L, it is terrible. If you come to your home or car, maybe you dont arrive when the reserve is coming. Husqvarna dont have a fix. The gasoline range of this motorcycle is very low.
Oh and for all those on the TBI, TPI, Carb issue - it's the rider and not the bike, if only I had the dedication and practicing skills of Rich when I was younger I 'd be soooo much of a better rider now.

My 23 gasgas has braktec brakes and my front brake has been spongy since day 1. Always just feels weird. Maybe I'll try a bleed since I haven't bothered to look into it.
Chinese GPX bikes have way better brakes than Husky , they are all mushy . Its got nothing to do with bleeding them , you wont get it any stickier than the mush your living with.

Since you are big on hard enduro, why not the KTM XC-W, instead of the Husky, so you can get the PDS for more obstacle clearance? I'm curious as to your thoughts on the matter. (Plus, you'd get the Brembo instead of the BrakeTech stuff...)
I don't know why the Husqvarna is considered the premium brand. The orange ones get Brembo hydraulics and more power on some bikes (particularly the 4 strokes with more open airbox and exhaust). I know it sucks to spend money on a new bike but the TSP tune alone makes a huge difference even without installing their head or anything. I couldn't believe how much difference the tune made on my 300XC. I don't know why KTM doesn't make better maps for the off road models. The TE300 I could see, being road legal. Unfortunately I got a squishy one. I’ve tried bleeding it several different ways, rebuilt the master and slave cylinders, and had no success.
absolutely right. I HATE the idle judder and a not smooth just above idle of fuel injection. Also hate EPA forcing them to do a throttle cut if you roll off. It's a very unnatural feeling and destroys confidence after being on carbs and how they deliver idle/ rollup and roll off the throttle.
It’s disconcerting that across many markets, suddenly brand new products are having issues with bad parts systems that were excellent 30 years ago… Like brakes 🙃
Great video - talent, skill, guts…I like. Love watching these moto clips as my riding days are just about over - wish we had bikes like this in the 70s.😮
Not a fan of the Braktec on my 22’ te300i. My buddy just got a 24’ 300 Xc-w. His brakes are way better but my clutch is better. Not sure if his is hanging up or needs bleeding but it’s noticeable for sure.
I’ve always noticed front brakes on new bikes need to be broken in. Idk if there is a film they put on it for preservation or what it is but just ride around holding the front brake some and it will get better
Yo Rich! Me and 2 buddys have the same bike. One dude switched rear sproc to 48 teeth, I m riding stock 13/45. Only thing bothers us, is that in the cold weather (-7 degrees and 1foot of fresh snow) motor idle is sooo bad. Im messing around with that yellow idle screw, turned in all the way in and 10 clicks out, it seems to work now. But yeah, nice bike to ride everything. Greetings from Estonia! 🤙✊✊
Thanks for sharing Rich! Loved the unscripted first new bike ride experience!!!!! We all go through it ... thinking about what we read before riding, comparing to bikes we own / rode, and then the moments we ACTUALLY get to feel how it responds!! Love my Husqvarna 2021 TE300 ... Magura components, Kreft suspension, and manual fuel mix screw.
As always a great vid and review and oh so so cool watching you conquer the obstacles that are seriously scary - best rider vids bar none Rich - you do it better than anyone out there.
They finally run better than a well tuned 12 to 16 pre counter ballanced kehin carbed ktm. The lack of kick starter is my biggest problem with the new bike .
Rich you need to do long term testing on a Sherco and a Reiju then give us your take. The Sherco seems to do quite well in the hard enduros held in Wallace, Idaho.
A Brembo caliper will solve your front brake issues, you will be bleeding that front brake like a madman and wont be able to get the spongy feel out of it.
I'm interested to find out if there's a noticeable difference in fuel efficiency vs. the 2023 Beta 300RR race edition? If not, is there any other advantage to switching from carbureted to TPI engines? I have the 2023 300RR race edition and my only minor complaint is how quickly it burns fuel compared to my 2004 Yamaha WR450. I get that 2 strokes are thirsty but the 300RR burns fuel about 3x as fast as the 450 4 stroke. That being said, I love riding the Beta and I don't think I'd rather be on any other bike.
You need to tune your carb. My Beta 300 does not do that. First thing is get the float level set correctly. Nearly every 2 stroke I have seen come from the factory with the float set too high. Jetting and needle changes needed. Once proper set up is done your Beta will do way better on fuel.
You talked about gearing. Just curious. Are you using first gear for these techniques or second gear? Sounds like maybe your in second gear, by the sounds of the engine, performing these techniques.
@@IRCTireUSAMoto So that has 13/45 gearing for a final drive of 3:46. That sounds tall for those technical manuevers, but then again we don't know how many teeth are on the primary drive on the crank and clutch basket. In general do you like a higher final drive for this technical stuff? Say this 13/45 as opposed to 13/50 or 13/52? Love the videos, keep em coming. 👍
It’s a little tall in this video. Since then I’ve gone to 13:49. That’s about perfect for 1st in certain technical stuff with no momentum and second in technical sections where we need momentum
Glad to see you reviewing the new TBI generation bikes. If you think that motor is strong you should try the TX/XC version. The general consensus is that the TBI mapping is off from the factory. Too rich in the low to mid so you may want to try a tuner or remapped ECU. It made all the difference on my 250xc. Keep up the good work Rich, I'm a long time superfan.
Thanks Rich and congrats on the new bike! I know you'll be very comfortable on it in no time. Please keep us up to date on the front brake sponge and if you resolve this easily. BrakeTech does such a great job with trials bike components I'm a bit surprised, but hopefully it will be a simple fix. I want to think that for the money paid for a premium bike it becomes acceptable with something simple. Love your content bro you have really helped guide my riding development, thank you!
What was the fork height set to on this video? Also sag height? I found I got lots of wheel spin until I got those dialed even with 3-4psi tubliss and an Kenda ibex Very interested to see the next video once you have your settings totally dialed in.
Rich, on the TBIs, you DO NOT blip the throttle while its warming up like a normal 2 stroke, .you let it idle like a 4 stroke .I would advise getting a thermometer radiator cap, because, when the bike is sitting at 50 degrees or below, use the choke. I see so many ppl blipping TBIs and they are just wasting gas . Hell mine is so cold natured it takes around 8 minutes to fully warm up.
A mate and I tested a brand new 24 te300 and fe350. Brakes were garbage at the start but we ended the day with 2hours of riding and they got better the more we rode them. They definitely need breaking in.
Hey everyone on a TBI Bike, you do not rev the bike while it’s warming up like a normal two-stroke the ECU already knows the engines temperature and tells the bike the exact mixture to make while it’s idling so when you twist that throttle you’re adding gas to an already rich mixture. TBI bikes do not foul plugs. you let it idle like a four stroke. I would use the choke if the engine is under 50°, so I would advise getting a thermometer cap.

Its a tragedy they don't put Brembo on the premier brand of KTM - I would have purchased a Husqvarna over the KTM if it wasn't for the Braketec factor; i do think the look of the Husqvarna is much cleaner than 24 KTM's with the awkward huge and pointy tank / radiator shrouds the KTMs have now. I have 20hrs on my 24 KTM xcw and it definitely has cold bike syndrome, takes several mins to clear the pipe out and warm up to run well & once you break in the suspension and get the clickers where u want plus get used to the new gearing (which i changed sprockets to 12/45 from the 13/45 - perfect might be 13/47 or 13/48) - it is a pretty nice riding technical bike from my perspective. Def will be curious to see what a proper rider like you thinks of the bike, suspension, engine, etc once you really get into it. Unfortunately I got a squishy one. I’ve tried bleeding it several different ways, rebuilt the master and slave cylinders, and had no success.
The most beautiful bike ever
It is pretty
absolutely right. I HATE the idle judder and a not smooth just above idle of fuel injection. Also hate EPA forcing them to do a throttle cut if you roll off. It's a very unnatural feeling and destroys confidence after being on carbs and how they deliver idle/ rollup and roll off the throttle.
Brave man to do that step-up on a brand new bike! I just bought myself a new KTM 250 EXC and so far I only did ride it like a pussy....😂
It’s disconcerting that across many markets, suddenly brand new products are having issues with bad parts systems that were excellent 30 years ago…
Like brakes 🙃
the Braktec breaks are one of the reasons why i bought the 300 Pro...
Great video - talent, skill, guts…I like. Love watching these moto clips as my riding days are just about over - wish we had bikes like this in the 70s.😮
Now you have a serious problem Rich. You won’t be ride an other brand because this is the top Brant at this time😊😊😊
Not a fan of the Braktec on my 22’ te300i. My buddy just got a 24’ 300 Xc-w. His brakes are way better but my clutch is better. Not sure if his is hanging up or needs bleeding but it’s noticeable for sure.
Cool video Rich. I love my '23.
On a side note, how do you like you Suomy helmet? I've been wanting to give the brand a try.
What front tire did you say you were running? I know you like the VX30 but I thought I heard you say GX.......
I’ve always noticed front brakes on new bikes need to be broken in. Idk if there is a film they put on it for preservation or what it is but just ride around holding the front brake some and it will get better
My 2018 TE 300 has Magura brakes. They look and work the same as Brembo brakes. The brakes pads are the same too.
Riding trials on enduro bike.... would be easier on trials bike. Well, what ever makes you happy.
Right on! Thanks so much for watching. I’m interested to put more time on it!
Kus kandis sõidate?
idle screw is the red one :) yellow is only for cold start
What do you think about the 2024 Racing Beta 300rr, with two spark plugs. Which one is better?
I bought a brand new Husqvarna cr250 in 1985 and it was cold blooded and took 5 minutes of riding before it would " pop a wheelie" good 😊
Thanks for sharing Rich!
Rich are you running the Astra 32mm rise bars? Have you tried the 27mm?
Yup , the pro 300 has better brakes , I like mine , best bike I've ever rode . Well worth the extra 1600$ to get the pro
ive never seen someone so nerdy about dirtbikes. this is coming from an IT guy with 11 certifications
They finally run better than a well tuned 12 to 16 pre counter ballanced kehin carbed ktm.
The lack of kick starter is my biggest problem with the new bike .
The yz250x dude I’m telling you way better bike and cheap also
Best review of an Enduro bike I've ever seen. How good (terrible) is it on paved roads?
Rich you need to do long term testing on a Sherco and a Reiju then give us your take. The Sherco seems to do quite well in the hard enduros held in Wallace, Idaho.
There are two long-term tests that I have put up on the Sherco. th-cam.com/video/lxW_J_fL1Zs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ULvptPf_unffjjT9
Comparison as well th-cam.com/video/2apgNJQ2Qxk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=4_r-eaVXjZ5_Wfdt
What would you say about the linkage vs pds for the 2024 models. Hear the husky is lower a tad, also whats you height? Thanks
A Brembo caliper will solve your front brake issues, you will be bleeding that front brake like a madman and wont be able to get the spongy feel out of it.
I love my 2021 TE250i 😀
I have a 2020 TE 250 I think the magura is better than the brake tech. I dont like the brake tech brakes.
I’m in first
@@IRCTireUSAMoto
So that has 13/45 gearing for a final drive of 3:46.
This is the Brandon Hererra of motorcycles. "The MC guy"😂
Thanks for watching! I have briefly rode a few TBI XC's and they were WAY too much for hard enduro. scary fast haha.
JD tuner
TE pro = Brembo
Internal lower gearing
The 300 for sure. That's why I got the 250. Fantastic bike!@@IRCTireUSAMoto
Not only did he do it! A-piece-a-piss but taught us all ! Top class cheers
Brembo own Braktec , I wonder what the Brembo 'special sauce' might be ?
Thanks Rich and congrats on the new bike! I know you'll be very comfortable on it in no time. Please keep us up to date on the front brake sponge and if you resolve this easily. BrakeTech does such a great job with trials bike components I'm a bit surprised, but hopefully it will be a simple fix. I want to think that for the money paid for a premium bike it becomes acceptable with something simple.
Love your content bro you have really helped guide my riding development, thank you!
What was the fork height set to on this video? Also sag height? I found I got lots of wheel spin until I got those dialed even with 3-4psi tubliss and an Kenda ibex
Very interested to see the next video once you have your settings totally dialed in.
I got the pro… with brembo front and rear brakes.. they’re amazing… 2024 te300 is the king for sure I love my bike so much
Yeah braktec has not been any good by my experience. Clutch or brakes
I’m aware. I already went through the warm up procedure.
All those electronics and it won't stay running when cold...
Go to the KTM with the brembo brake!
A mate and I tested a brand new 24 te300 and fe350. Brakes were garbage at the start but we ended the day with 2hours of riding and they got better the more we rode them. They definitely need breaking in.
Nice, thank you! So, beta 300 rr or husky/ktm tbi ?
The ktm xc-w come stock with brembo and the pds maybe you could give him a try
Hey everyone on a TBI Bike, you do not rev the bike while it’s warming up like a normal two-stroke the ECU already knows the engines temperature and tells the bike the exact mixture to make while it’s idling so when you twist that throttle you’re adding gas to an already rich mixture. TBI bikes do not foul plugs. you let it idle like a four stroke. I would use the choke if the engine is under 50°, so I would advise getting a thermometer cap.
I’m aware. I already went through the warm up procedure.
Can you switch braktec to brembo brake ?
Yes, and it's pretty easy but it just costs money. Good question though.
Mine FE 350 has same brakes and front sucks indeed, tried to bleed them but not much better, got to get better brake pads.
i would love to see you have a TX next to the TE and test the same day !! same as Xc-w and xc
Sick vid. Making me excited to see you put this new bike through the ropes.
I would be curious about bike weight comparison to others.
nice review and helpful alot, man, coz i got pro version a month ago although i am a beginner only. Not all of your feels of it from your techniques i cannot quite feel but only some that i can feel as beginner i agree. cheers.
👍.
When you decided that you were going for the blocks, willing to scratch your new bike first go for the Folks and the sake of a accurate review.
I subscribed
Thanks bro!!
Garbage they went brake tech on “high end” version.
Cheers and thanks for the videos and content = inspiring and informative!!
I was definitely wishing for Brembo on that front brake! I’m excited to put more time on it for sure! Thanks so much for the support
You know Rich is a great guy just by looking at his dog! As a person who also loves dogs it makes me happy to see people out there that care for their pets. Strong work Rich
He’s a good boy! 🙌
What do you mean "holes drilled every 5"?
Well what do you mean what do you mean?
At the price of two Xtrainers which do the same if not better..
