This video is about the German F104G. In the current matchmaker, it is getting constant down tiers to fight 10.0 / 10.3 US… In other words, the snail has recruited it to put an end to the obscene premium attack aircraft spam.

the " step 1 up, step 2, down" manuever is something i unironically use in every single game, and despite everything that can go wrong with it, it always works
Play against F14s and you very quickly chnage your mind
@@DeadThePainterikr, I used to do it with my F100 but after I reached top tier I quickly found out that’s a horrible idea when the enemy team has radar missiles
This tactic works well in the Milan for grinding, go very fast, drop bombs on a base, climb and flank the brainless a10s, launch your missiles and pray, and go ham with the 30mils until you die and repeat
Bro, the amount of A-10's that I find not using countermeasures even though they have enough to shit them out like your average white person who's just eaten 20 Carolina reaper chillies and gone to the bathroom, is absolutely nuts
Funny, I do that wi th my Mig-21 SMT. it's a good strategy, especially for the R3Rs
For the full 2 players that enjoy sim: this plane is 10.0, which means you can face 9.0 when the matchmaker is at 9.0-10.0 bracket. This thing is so absurdly op in sim, that you can just autopilot your way through enemy teams
The matchmaker in sim goes all the way up to 12.0
Is not the sim bracket from 9.7 to 12.0?
@@AZ-dj1ni Not anymore, they changed it a couple of months ago. It changes brackets every 2 days, going 1 br level down each time.

What a surprise to see interceptors actually working with taking altitude and then... INTERCEPTING... It abolutely dumbfound me to see less than 2 players per game actually going high up.
Mig-21 with r60's are why most 104 pilots don't bother.

Your observations about the BR spread are pretty much spot on. I recently began playing the F-4EJ and F-4EJ Kai after having spaded the F-104J. Even without flares I have almost a 2 KD in the starfighter and that was before this mysterious spike in F5C players. Now in the Kai I almost never see downtiers but in the EJ it's a tossup. Uptiers are getting me body slammed and downtiers to 10.0 is literally US vs US where 3/4 of the entire game lobby is low to medium level F5C players. I have no clue what happened in the last week and a half that prompted everyone and their mother to buy that plane but it made my EJ Kai grind just that little bit easier.
Same here running the lazr m and i have a blast in the one in a blue moon down tier but other than that i get bodied by Mig 23ML
Half off premiums every couple of months does that, especially when its amazing for making the grind easier, the F5C is just the best for it imo
im currently grinding F-16AJ in my F-4EJ and theres only two scenarios: i get a downtier and absolutely fucking destroy the enemy team or I get an uptier and I die fast and miserably with 0 frags
@@gerkadas Buddy, its been five months and I'm still flying the EJ Kai. Go for that one first trust me the 11.0 EJ is not worth sticking to for the F16 grind. The only reason I don't have the F16AJ yet is because I don't have the SL for it. Its researched, but due to some unrelated spending I'm too broke to buy and crew it.
EJ Kai is leagues better in its equipment suite than the EJ and can still hold its own at top tier despite being an old airframe.
@@ArcJupiter I would've grinded the EJ Kai, but that means that I have to grind another 400k RP and just the very thought of it literally breaks me. I will 100% grind it, since I'm almost done with the F-16 and I will have no other planes to research. Thanks I'm not broke, cus I have some premium jets and props

As on of two "Token Italian Main"s in my friend group, who was on the F-104G when Apex Predators dropped and the F-104S when the BR changes hit, I can safely assure everyone that this is 100% accurate. Before that BR update when the F-104S was also at 10.7, I was getting three kills a game easy. After it dropped it took me three days to get a kill. Repeat: THREE DAYS to get A SINGULAR KILL. I went from occasionally worrying about Tomcats and F-16s being mythical beasts to flying in the middle of a squadron of MiG-29s every match. It was PAIN. Now that I have AIM-9Ls thanks to the F-104S ASA things are much better (though I still only get four of them despite both other S variants getting six Sidewinders, the hell Gaijin?), but I'm still not quite up to "clubbing baby seals looking at the deck while I pounce from behind" levels of memeage any more.
After being clubbed by A-10s in the Harrier GR.1 for ages, this does put a smile on my face.
It's fun with the Mig21 as well. There will ALWAYS be at least 3 or 4 A10s not paying attention at all. And unless some dumb teammate goes in too fast at a bad angle and warns them, they're usually easy kills.
i like how 10.0-10.7 arb, is basically an a-10's and a-6's hunting, now. An ENTIRE strategy of this br is to not to scare away those prem attackers in their natural habitat
A small tip, use the armor target belts instead of the air target belts for the Vulcan. That seems to allow the gun to be more effective.
True dat, when I started advancing into jets multiple lvl100s and pros told me that in some cases armored targets belts do way more damage and are more effective than tracers or air targets belts
they fixed real shatter so air belts work better now
@@psychfoxtrot8815 a little bit at least. Still find them somewhat unreliable so default works best for some aircraft
@@psychfoxtrot8815 Even without Realshatter HE rounds can detonate on the fuselage before going into a critical component, whereas AP will go through and usually knock out whatever it hits. The most egregious example of this would be firing head on at a Mig-29's engines - the HE round explodes on the intake and does no damage to the engine where an AP round goes through and knocks it out.
This also means you can get rear facing pilot snipes because the round can travel all the way through the fuselage.
Now the only HE belts I run are on the 20mm MG151 - Mingescholb(?) is absurdly powerful and the belt has AP rounds mixed in aswell.
@@psychfoxtrot8815was messing with air belts on the vulcan today and was struggling a little bit but its also a vulcan so I was still able to kill
I definitely found spading my F-104S that the gun is just too useful to give up for more missiles.
I killed more A-6s with my guns than any other aircraft
I personally dislike the Vulcan, but there is no denying it is really good at taking out subsonic targets.

I adore the F-104J and G, they're both my absolute favorite jets to fly besides the Tornado (it looks beefy I like it just for that) and because they're fast with no turning ability it adds charm to it. I love it.
@0:25 unfortunately if you dont have a teamate above you or you dont have max crew +qualification all too often you wont see jets and the missiles they shoot at you from above you until its too late.
You also forget a few extra steps
Step. 4 run away
Step. 5 wait until you can shoot the enemy in the back
Step. 6 repeat step 4 if the enemy tries to fight back in any form until you can repeat step 5.
tbh the F104s gameplay loop is simply just amazing.

I have noticed similar things regarding the matchmaker in my Tornado IDS MFG.
The MFG was my first high tier jet. I never really enjoyed planes. I'm just not really good at it. And yet a find myself doing quite well in the MFG. My biggest fear was getting absolutely stomped by F16s, F14s and Mig29s, but I find that I either don't encounter those all that often or that they aren't as big s threat as I had though in the case of the F14. I usually climb to around 7km (making sure to not fly directly towards the enemy to avoid getting stomped because I'm slow af), bomb two or more bases and kill the odd plane. It's quite enjoyable actually (much more so than playing CAS in ground RB which is ironic as that was my main reason for grinding the MFG xD) I try to learn as I go as to not stay a high tier noob, but I feel I'm already doing well enough to be of use to the team.

I would say the tornado ids marine flieger is in the same boat, in down tiers it can fuck people up but in uptiers it suffers

Bro this was like my whole game plan with this plane even before the F16 spam😅 I realized early on with the MiG 21 MF how often I got downtiered and grinded the 104 straight after the MLA and safe to say best decision I made. My 60% WR F104 greatly complements my 35% WR MiG 23 MLA 💀

Yeah, when he was saying everything can outrun you in higher tiers, I was wondering about that since the USAF F-104 can go mech 2.1+ something the F-16C will struggle getting to unless empty, the F-14 might run it down especially the B version A engines are kinda ehh. Newer jets then the F-14 focused on maneuverability and electronics vs speed. Though IRL you can't outrun a radio and a Aim-120/Aim54
Oh though my point is the F-104g is about 300mph slower

I feel it's the same story with the German Tornado IDS, it's really not a bad aircraft that's somewhat consistent if u play it right.
Luck of the draw for me, generally I'll bomb a base, lob another 2 on a second base, then switch to AA mode. If no ones noticed me I can do well, maybe 2-3 kills, but if a mirage or kfir has a kill boner, there's nothing I can do
@@Cam_Wight I tend to find myself side climbing to around 18-20 thousands feet and waiting till I'm behind the the enemy and then go in on a distracted player, and then just keep an eye on ur back on ur way out, and it can turn decently well, not low energy dog fight good but it can hold out till u can escape. Is also pretty dang fast nearly keeping up with 104's. I find it to be more like a support fighter for ur team if u chose to use it that way instead of basse bombing.
@@biz_fortress1335 Yeah for sure. My main problem is that the missiles keep blowing up my own plane or that if you roll while pulling you snap your wing off and then Gaijin says you're dead, even if you can make it back to the airfield with no wings... Thing deserves better

Gaijin is so funny, the Italian and Chineese F-104s are objectively worse but are kept at the same br, they should be brought down to 10.3
I've found the F-104C at 9.3 to be unable to replicate this as it has no flares and keeps getting eaten by AV-8 premiums and the like while its own missiles rarely make hits on anything moving at all.
I am working on unlocking this plane right now. I love to smite A10s and A6s!!
Same basic procedure you can use with Mirage IIIC with rocket booster.
but it's way trickier to 9b an A-10- but win some loose some- you can get 530E (the IR guided one) to kill unsuspecting idiots from miles away, while being to dodge enyone you cannot outrun.

I wouldnt say I wasted my time grinding the german tech tree because I had fun. Also mig 29 typhoon and f35s in the future isnt too bad

This exactly what I do right now, but I do it with the J35XS. Climb up to 8000m, get behind the slowest A-10 or A-6 and orbital strike them into oblivion.
This is literally the J35A experience when going against a10

When the Su-25 came out, I dusted of my fav phantom, the C, yeeted the cannon off, full missiles, consistently wiped all the Su-25s on the enemy team id they didn't get killed before hand

the F-15 and the F-18 are around the corner, America will be the most dominant air nation for a long time and till the Eurofighter drops there is no reason to play this tech tree besides props and CAS.
Just got it yesterday and its actually pretty fun.
Being able to just climb to fucking space like a rocket and then dive on people is funny. Though this plane is very team dependent so if your team dies in the first minutes of the match its ggwp.
Me when F-104J at 10.7 with no flares. It’s still good, and I can get 3-4 kills with it usually, but no flares kinda hurts.
The worst think about f104g is the f repair cost
You can apply this exact strategy with the mig 21 mf and you'll get about the same results

i did something very similar to this in the J35D except i could actually dog fight if needed
I mean the mig-27 at .3 br higher is basically the same it can kinda handle itself at 12.0 but not really but in a downtier especially a full one at 10.0 with no PD radars hahaha the gun missiles and FM do everything you need it to, although sadly most times you get uptiered to 12.0
Okay so apparently I'm being a weirdo as I've chosen and am currently grinding the German tree but with this info I'll say, I sat and laughed at this planes numbers with my friend just a few days ago and now, wow imma have something fun in "top tier"
At this point, high tier is a place for farming. I play low tier because it’s the only place where I can meet other players who KNOW how to fly a damn plane.

Effectively the opposite of what it was for.
