I think these are the topics to be discussed on Mr. Slater Young's channel soon: Having a glass house on a typhoon prone nation; How do you choose the right type of glass for strong wind and flying debris; The need for window shutters or shutters for the glass area in the house; And how do you build a strong roof that won't be blown by strong wind easily (which is the problem I've notice mostly in this incident).

Let's not just take this video as a life update of Mr. and Mrs. Young's life but also a way to spread awareness of the extent of the damages in Cebu that is caused by Odette. The damages shown here and on the internet are just a fraction of the whole city. So, please spread the word. Mag ingay tayo. Enough with the false positivity and resiliency because life is on the line.

Hi! I'm actually from Cebu but I'm currently situated in Mindanao. I too, have families left in Cebu and Surigao. I believe that there has been a misunderstanding. My point lang unta is to take the video of Mr. and Mrs. Young as a way to spread awareness of what is happening in Cebu kay there's little coverage of how big the damage is gyud. Again, ang mga posts sa internet wa ra jud katunga sa unsa jud kadako ang damage karun sa Cebu. (THE POINT OF MY COMMENT.)
Sa resiliency naman, I'm not saying that being resilient is wrong. I'm actually very proud that Filipinos are resilient; but I’m also keeping in mind lang that in these types of calamities, the government’s function is to be the primary, and the main source of support. This is why I also agree that they should be held accountable.
Again, my comment was not intended to send hate to the government or complain kung unsa na ilang nabuhat but again, TO SPREAD AWARENESS on the extent of the damages, and the sense of urgency that is required in these types of life-threatening situations.

Kulang kasi Cebu has been knocked down and during calamity, people with lower economic status tend to focus on basic needs food, shelter, water, gasoline etc. These influencers only reflect 1% of what Cebu is currently experiencing. Driving around a posh neighborhood doesn't do any justice.

I hate to bring this up pero marami pa rin talagang benefits yung news ng ABS-CBN, why? because they have regional coverage and the reporters on each region are local residents that's why they can give first hand news. Idk why GMA news did not mobilize something like this to think that they're the only one left that has the resources to do so.
They gave good news but in terms of wide coverage, nah.

You and Kuya Slater are the only influencers who speak up about the effects of typhoon Odette. You, out of many, who are also affected by the typhoon. I'm from Negros Occidental and my hometown (and other towns/cities) in the Southern part of Negros are also affected, and up until now we don't have electricity and access to clean drinking water. I'm just blessed to be able to work in Bacolod city wherein we are not so much affected here. But it still breaks my heart to see and know that my family and friends back home are still suffering there with damages in the houses, lack of drinking water, and such.

Any thoughts on upgrades when you rebuild?
Glass walls look awesome, but are a liability in a storm. How about roll down storm shutters? They tuck away to show off the glass walls, but come down easy and protect the glass in a storm. And the roof.
Here in Florida we get hurricanes on a regular basis. We use special rafter anchors and also try to connect the trusses to rebar that anchors them to the wall.
Sorry to hear about the damage to the house and your factory. Material things can be recovered, life can not.
    Best of Luck!

Watching this and Slater’s vlog made me cry because I remember how we were during st yolanda in 2013. Yung literally sira bahay nyo because water was everywhere even on the walls tapos we cannot fix them until now because of financial constraints. Marami nangyari sa family namin since Nov8,2013 mostly health concerns and urgent medical needs of my mama that we had to prioritize over fixing our house. The only thing we were able to fix was our roof because it leaked and we needed to get it done because my late mother was a well-known diabetic and my nephew was 9mos old at that time and they were immunocompromised. I haven’t cried since that day and seeing this now flashes back all of the memories and ordeal we had to go through kasi ramdam mo gaano kahirap and kacostly for the couple and all of disasters survivors to reset and rebuild everything. But God is good, darating din time makakapag paayos kami ng bahay. Be strong, survivors. There is no hurdle that we cannot overcome. God bless you. Merry Christmas 🎁

No electricity, water, and barely any signal for communication and internet (you need to find high places just to get one bar) a lot of people I know are affected as well. Thank you for video. For protect self from brocken glass use toning vynil for all glasses. Even glass will brocken it will have only cracks. And for big windows need also use protective shutters.

Keep safe not just to the skyfam but all affected families. I don't watch news and social media because it hurts watching everything destroyed by the typhoon. Even in Davao na very fortunate na kami dahil walang damages unstable signal pa rin and it's exam season pero internet connection is the least priority right now. Praying for everyone since that is the only thing I could offer.

So I'm playing videogames everynight after work with this person for almost 2 mos. We never exchanged socials so sa game lang kami nagkakausap. He lives in Cebu City and it's been 4 nights since we last played. Kinda worries me lalo na nakita ko yung nangyari sa house ng sister ni Kryz :((( I really hope he is okay. Prayers for everyone in Cebu. So heartbreaking magpapasko pa naman :(

Sa Dinagat island remote area talaga dun. Normal days hirap na ang signal how much more ngayon after odette. Imagine the disaster nag x10. Walang decent wifi or cellular signal plus walang kuryente tSakA tubig. Nag shoshortage na sa pagkain at gamot. Wala nang bahay ang iba . So please guys kung mabasa nyu to show compassion to Dinagat island at sa lahat ng nasalanta ni Odette. Praying for everyone!

Be very very careful on how much Tylenol you take. It will destroy your liver if taken too long. I recommend switching between an asprin or ibuprofen and Tylenol if you must take a pain reliever on a regular basis. Asprin and ibuprofen along with any other NSAID pain reliever will cause an ulcer if taken too long.

In the east coast, when a hurricane comes, the windows are boarded with plywoods and taped. All outside furnitures are also stored so they won’t act like flying bullets by the strong winds. It actually is mabusisi but important to stay safe.

Where do the people w/o houses stay if all the government outposts are also down? Is there a good source of clean water where people can go to for free?..so many questions...

Thanks SKYFAM for showing everyone what is happening in Visayas and Mindanao. Negros Oriental(BAIS) and other parts of Mindanao and Visayas seemed that we were not part of the Philippines. I was so disappointed that they are no/not enough news about us and the effects of the typhoon to us. We need help but, it seems like they don't know us and treat VISAYAS and MINDANAO as not part of the PH. Pero, mobangon ta!! Kaya nato ni!! Magtinabangay nalang ta kita kita kay wala may plano ang uban mo tabang.💪💪

I'm from Negros and I'm currently about 4 hours away from my Hometown bc I'm in Bacolod. My sister sent me pics na the situation in our city's bad na daw but fortunately may generator sila and may signal naman sa Smart. Here in Bacolod naman, last night lang bumalik yung electricity and Globe's signal is on and off. Hopefully everything goes back to normal before Christmas. Much love! Stay strong ,♡

I am glad Skyfam is safe. Hope it will be better. I think the impact of typhoon Odette is worse than any typhoon that hit our place, Cagayan Valley considering that the affected areas are islands as evidenced by the flight of big branches of trees and heavy flooding.
Praying for the VisMin. Sto. Nino pray for us.
    This too shall pass.

With typhoons always in the pacific region of past catastrophic events, many concrete, steel frame etc homes, & businesses usually has shutters for standard glass windows & large windows included for protection from strong winds & are great protection from tropical storms or typhoons weathers also for security when you go on a vacation & leave your home just cloes the windows shutters & reopened it when you return on island, sharing from experiences. I was amazed there was no shutters included with your style of home. Its a good investment.
