If Spider-Man Blue didn't make you cry, you simply don't possess a soul! My first Marvel book was Superior Spider-Man and it got me hooked on comics to this day!
Here's my list of new reader friendly comcis Kraven's Last Hunt, bu Demattais and Zeck Amazing Spiderman by JMS and JRjr Daredevil by Anne Nocenti and JRjr Thor by Walter Simonson Avengers by Busiek and Perez Fantastic Four by John Byrne and / or Walt Simonson Ghost Rider by Mackie, Saltares, and Texeria All New Ghost Rider by Smith and Moore. Squadron Supreme by Gruenwald, Hall, and Ryan Uncanny X-men by Claremont The Death of Doctory Strange, by Mackay and Garbett Guardians of the Galaxy by Abnett, Lanning, Pelletier, and Walker
Appreciate you taking the time to write this out! :) some good ones here 💯📚 I really want to read all of Nocenti’s era on Daredevil. I’ve read it in part.
@@TheComicBookReport Nocenti's Daredevil is first run I can remember. The part that stuck with me the most was the Blackheart storyline. JRjr's Mephisto was awesome.
New X Men by Grant Morrison Thor by Walt Simonson Fantastic Four by Jonathan Hickman New Avengers by Brian Michael Bendis Any Daredevil title X Factor bt Peter David Invincible Iron Man by Matt Fraction Annihalation & Annihalation Conquest
Annihilation through the War of Kings (modern cosmic saga) is a good place to start. It was essentially a reboot for the cosmic universe. You don’t need to know any of the characters. The stakes are very high and is a nice long epic
Hey! Absolutely loving your channel. Excellent stuff! Just a thought: maybe I’m only noticing this because I’m watching so many of your videos at once, but it seems to me that many of your list videos seem to feature the many of the same comics. Which makes sense, since you clearly love them :) So perhaps a challenge. What lists can you do that would offer the opportunity to feature comics other than the ones that you normally feature? I’m only asking because I’m excited for more new content from you and new comics to explore. Thanks!
I always appreciate when people go out of their way to put lists together. I know it comes from a good place to try and generate new readers with a solid footing into the hobby. That being said, I am sorry to say that I disagree with a lot of these options. Most of them are flat out boring. I don't think anyone in 2024 would feel captivated by most of these reads: Astonishing X-Men by Whedon (horrible X title, over celebrated), Hickman's House of X entire story was, firstly, abandoned, and secondly, an acquired taste by even the most dedicated X-Fan. In truth, if you wanted to recommend an X-Title... I wouldn't. Stick to the cartoon. No one should read a book from the 60s either, unless you read them as a kid, because that will be the worst reading experience of your life. FF is NO exception. Silver Surfer by Dan Slott? I mean, his best work was Superior Spider-Man, so I don't know why you wouldn't recommend that first. Venom is literally overrated hype, sorry Donny Cates, hope you're feeling better... and Frank Miller's collab with JRJR is also a rough ride. I am truly surprised by your list. Hawkeye by Fraction is a good read, nice suggestion there. And Spider-Man Blue is a heartwarming tale. Ultimate Spider-Man, I mean, yes. Okay... it's good. but The Ultimates is a hard pass, and certainly not a top 10 recommend. I think compiling a list, first of all, is difficult without knowing an age you're targeting, but I think Thor: God of Thunder (God Butcher, God Bomb) Wolverine: Old Man Logan Marvel Zombies (Volume 1 only) Hickman's Secret Wars is infinitely better Even Daredevil's Born Again is so much better than JRJR's work. There's Planet Hulk, Barry Windsor Smith's Weapon X, Punisher: Welcome Back Frank, Deadpool: Good Bad Ugly... anyway... sorry, but your list needs work.
Totally respect your difference of opinion here :) While I do standby my picks I also very much enjoy your recommendations! I especially liked your selection of Weapon X, that would have been a fantastic choice for this list without a doubt! And honestly, with a subject/topic like this the list of recommendations can be so very long-particularly as you say when you don’t know your exact audience. I tried to vary my title selections between older and newer reads and picked largely based on reads I felt like were very accessible without needing to know a ton of continuity. I tried to intentionally pick a bit of an eclectic list hoping that I’d have a recommendation for different types of prospective readers. I understand I missed the mark a bit in your eyes and that’s alright, it makes me very happy you still came by and commented :) Hopefully people who want to maybe check out Marvel but weren’t captivated by my selections will see some of yours-many of which would also be choices I could recommend as well 👏📚 Anyway, cheers and thanks for watching
