    In case anyone else didn't have the pop-up window he had when printing -
    Go to File --> Preferences --> Change Print Window to Pronterface UI. Just saved you a few hours

    does the start/end-gcode has to be on every print after that? Now when I try to print anything, it goes and checks like 10 different spots before it will start... that's fine except half of the prints, my sensor is off the bed.

    Hi! Amazing video so far, I am at the 11:13 mark in the video and on my screen from cura that pop up doesn't show up. It shows up operational and detecting bauderate and such however none of the buttons show up other than print. Did i do something wrong? or is my version a different version? I have no idea, everything else looks the same as yours though

      Same thing happened to me two days ago. Even tried the new version. Two computers. No control panel. Gave up using Cura yet again (Cura is the reason I bought Simplify3D several months ago, plus, S3D is awesome) I used Simplify3D to do all my programming.

    • @RealProjectTube
      @RealProjectTube  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The points should be defined somewhere in the source code...I have no idea where though.

  • @gymkhanadog
    @gymkhanadog 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Not a bad tutorial at all, has a lot of useful info to help the process along, but the version of Cura included (and the new downloadable one) doesn't have a machine control panel. Using Simplify3D's machine control panel the steps are mostly the same and I've done all my programming through it.

    My sensor is and 18mm no sensitivity screw, the thing keeps crashing at the G28 command I have it installed in the back of the carriage assembly behind the nozzle, I picked up the .h profile for a 5 button display which on my printer , would that be the cause for the whole thing just none stoping crashing the bed and dang I have a 3mm glass bed, thanks...And I agree this is the best video I've seen explaining the process thank you for taking the time and sharing

    Thank you very much for sharing this just for a question I'm using a stock auto leveling sensor but mine came different from yours , it hang on the left side of the extruder .so my question is what configuration file should I use ???

    • @RealProjectTube
      @RealProjectTube  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      seetcas that is a good question! unfortunately there is no configuration file for that set up that I know of. You may be able to use one of the configuration files for the non anet sensors as I believe these are usually side mounted.

    • @seetcas

    • @RealProjectTube

    Hey thanks for the tutorial, I was following the written guide they gave, and when doing the leveling before the print it pushed so hard on the bed the glass broke, turns out I found out when watching your video I wrote the wrong offset (took the position just under) so the offset was 10.6 instead of 0.57 ..

    • @RealProjectTube
      @RealProjectTube  6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi
    did the extruder moves to its previous position after you entered the command G30 x110 y110???

    • @gymkhanadog
      @gymkhanadog 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The extruder should move to and probe (if it's already there, it won't move in X Y, just Z) the same spot. G30 means 'Return to secondary home position'. I think in this case it's been modified to move to and probe.

      97JoMiller just for setup. The earlier versions of cura allows you to control your printer through usb and enter in G code commands which make calibration a lot easier.

    I wish I'd seen this video last night when I was setting it up. Everything went fine until I got to the z offset part reffered to at 17:00 minutes into the video. I merit crashing the nozzle too. I edged up doing it manually and getting it. I could have saved a couple of hours by watching this video. Somebody linked me to it over at the a net Facebook page. I was gonna make a video showing this exact same thing. No need to now. I have the a6. Thanks

    • @RealProjectTube
      @RealProjectTube  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I feel your pain I now have a nice box shaped line carved into my bed from the nozzle scraping alone it the first time. Best thing to do is you get a positive number is set Z to 0.00 and start moving down from there. The biggest advantage to version 2 is the ability to easily adjust the Z offset with the M851 command.

    • @marcellemay7721
      @marcellemay7721 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ProjectTube I subbed you. I'm interested in casting process too. I ain't ready for that yet, but it's filed away as one of the next projects.😁

    • @DJDevon3
      @DJDevon3 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Would the difference in height of the bed change this value? Since some people might screw it in more or less causing a unique offset for each A8 owner?

    • @marcellemay7721
      @marcellemay7721 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      ProjectTube I had to reset my z offset yesterday because I had to drop the heat separator tube about 2mm to insert a filament guide inside the extruder. This time though the offset number was low, it was something like 2.20 millimeters, so I used the exact procedure in the manual by entering -2.2. This time it worked perfectly. The comment you made about ," if it's a small number, it should work fine", was right on the money. I think it's a problem related to the cube sensor.
      Now, I'm trying to get the x and y sensor offset dialed in. I got it close, which is probably close enough. To set that one you have to change some values in the config h file, reload it in the skynet folder, then you have to reflash skynet onto the printer. I got it within 5mm, but I don't think that the cube sensor senses in the exact center of the sensor which is why, I'm off a little bit.

    • @RealProjectTube
      @RealProjectTube  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +DJDevon3 the Z offset if I'm not mistaken is a measure from where your nozzle is when your sensor triggers to where the bed actually is. It's the amount the nozzle has to travel down after you sensor triggers to get a good first layer.

    • @RealProjectTube
      @RealProjectTube  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it should, just make sure you enter in the correct bed dimensions for the A6. I believe these are listed in the documentation provided with Skynet.

    Not trying to be a smartass. MK LL is actually MK2 aka MK II, it means Mark 2. They're not lower case L's, they're capital i's. One reason many people don't read it correctly is simply because of the font used. If it was displaying in Times New Roman it would be very easy to recognize the capital ii's are meant to be read as Roman numerals. The word mark is a common prototyping designation. Ever seen Iron Man? :) Great video. I'll likely be coming back to this one when my A8 arrives. Looking forward to having more conversations with other A8 owners.

    I got 0.39 as Z offset and it works well in the center and one side of the bed but when i print large things , one side of the bed the nozzle is too high than the other side, what can be wrong? why the sensor is not compensating that?

    • @RealProjectTube
      @RealProjectTube  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jasson Sanchez I'm not sure the firmware should be compensating. More then likely your bed is warped leaving a dip in it that the software can't compensate for...im just guessing. I have problems with larger prints as well and I think my bed is warped a bit.

  • @97JoMiller
    @97JoMiller 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    when I set my printer to home with the new bed level sensor, it just keeps crunching it down and never stops trying to lower... I have to cut the power from it because the motors won't stop like they used to when it hit 0 on the Z stop. The Z Stop is plugged in correctly. I don't have a flast board on mine that mounts to the back like yours. Mine appears to mount on the front by the fan.

    • @RealProjectTube
      @RealProjectTube  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most likely your sensor is not triggering. How far above the tip of your nozzle is your sensor?

    • @97JoMiller
      @97JoMiller 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      the size of a zip tie... I set the nozzle down to where I normally set it then adjusted like you put in your video... the sensor is on the front instead of the back, would that cause an issue?

    • @RealProjectTube
      @RealProjectTube  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      When the nozzle comes down and hits the bed is the sensor over the bed?

    Is there any way you can post your configuration h file . I'm so frustrated my home is about 50mm from center and 5 mm to the right just about. ( basically to the right front of the center)I'm so frustrated with doing 3d printing at this point. I have a anet a8 but it doesn't look like the others the bed has each wire individually in the connector and they may have listened to the complaints and upgraded items because some upgrades I've seen people do I don't need. Ex. Bracers , mine doesn't shake . Any help would be appreciated I have skynet 2.3.2 loaded but it crashes into the bed also. I have a Uspasp and reflashed anet a8 and it works fine so I know it's not the printer alignment. But I want the safety features and reloaded skynet. I followed the guide and the only thing I can thing I can think is the settings in my configuration h are wrong. The original anet firmware printed fine any help would be appreciated! I really dont want to put my anet in a room and monitor it during the whole print.

    • @RealProjectTube
      @RealProjectTube  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Big E FPV not sure, unless we are both doing something wrong or there is a issue with the firmware as the documentation says it should be a positive number. Try doing what I did, do a M851 z0.0 and slowly decrease it until you get a good first layer...M851 Z -0.1, M851 Z-0.2 and so on.

    • @Big_E_nj
      @Big_E_nj 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      How did you INITIALLY set your sensor when you started this? Lets take that out of the mix...

    • @RealProjectTube
      @RealProjectTube  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Big E FPV with version one I did it manually. I adjusted the sensor hieght so that it triggered before the nozzle hit the bed. Then using cura to lower the z axis in .1 increment counting how far down the nozzle needed to go in order to be a sheet of paper thickness off the bed after the sensor had tripped and entered that value as a negative number. That's the offset value the difference in hieght between when your sensor triggers and your nozzle is at the correct hieght to print.

    • @Big_E_nj
      @Big_E_nj 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll see what I can mess with and figure it out...

      Michael Lewis if your z comes out to 1.13 then you'll do a M851 Z -1.13 and then a M500. try to print and see how the first layer prints. if it's still not close enough start moving the z offset down like M851 Z -1.5 and so on.

      Wow was not expecting a reply so late but printing now it looks pretty good! Better then me trying to level with the screws only thing is the bracket I printed out I'm not sure how it's held does it screw into the drilled hole on the bracket for the extruder? and secured with the nut?

    • @RealProjectTube
      @RealProjectTube  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Michael Lewis not sure which bracket your talking about. The stock anet sensor bracket attaches to the back of the extruder with two long screws and the sensor is held onto the bracket with screws and nuts.

      ProjectTube I had to make my bracket since I got the sensor only and not the Anet with the sensor with it

      @RealProjectTube  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Michael Lewis oh ic, well my original bracket broke so I had to print one too. Make sure you don't over tighten the bolts holding the bracket to the extruder it will bend the bracket and eventually it will snap....whoops lol.

    • @RealProjectTube
      @RealProjectTube  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Nick Anderson yes, 2.3.9 has been released through github but only 2.3.2 has been released through facebook....if that makes any sense lol. I assume the setup would be identical in both version but I could be wrong.

    I did this video step by step because I forgot a few Gcodes along the way lol. Thing is....I flashed the firmware and forgot one very important thing..... I didn't save my ESTEPS...I Was going crazy trying to figure out why my first layer wasn't right...Yeah....Make sure that you jot down any important things that you might have spent HOURS WORKING ON TO GET PERFECT (cry...) Learn from my mistakes lol.
