Thank you sooo much for this. I have been struggling for a couple of weeks with uploading marlin to my anet a6. I am fairly new to printing and decent with computers, My question here is, Doe the TH3D firmware have the thermal Runaway protection for the anet like the marlin firmware is supposed to have? I will try to read into the firmware deeper and see if I can figure this out as well. Thank you once again for your help

TH3D Studio thank you so much. This firmware is so nice. I bought this printer heavily used and after a little lube and clean up it ran smoother but I had no idea how much different the firmware would make......now to get octoprint to work remotely. No my printer is never ran unattended, wife works from home and is always there but has no clue how to make my printer work but can definitely watch over it. Thank you again.

bought the USBasp usb with 10pin to 6 pin connector. You plug the 6 pin in the middle of the connections, so 2 pins should be available on each side. If it says initialization failed, you probably have the 6 pin connection backwards, so just turn it around.

I have my Anet A8 and I was using Marlin for some time . But yesterday when I was printing it showed on LCD "Max Temp, Restart The Printer...". After I restart it. It shows on the LCD that the Head Bed temperature is like 180, even if I unplug the Heat Bed thermisor. And now when I connect it to Cura by USB the printer just restart itself in a loop. Could I fix it burning the bootloader or do I need to buy a new board?

The files that are in the directory of TH3D are not reconized in Arduino and most of them are read me files. I bought this printer un assembled new in box, but that was a long time ago. i couldnt build the machine because i was sick for a long time and now the warranty is passed. Yep same here. I have the latest Anet A8 motherboard seemingly. I have it built and working and now slowly going from a 3D printing virgin to a complete menace to my wife (it's her fault). I plucked up the courage to flash Marlin only to be greeted with "not in sync" errors. The screen printer reboots and goes back to normal. It was then I trawled the web and found out that a lot of the latest boards have dodgy bootloaders. I now have a USBASP on the way. My 51 year old brain really can't handle this. Oh well. It keeps me on my toes!

  • @Munky332

So, few questions in my persuit of trying to get my Anet board to accept some sort of firmware.
should be noted, I have an Anet A8-L. came pre-loaded with a custom anet firmware with ABL enabled from the factory. board is version 1.5.
Now, I cannot get this thing to accept any firmware, i've tried skynet, marlin using the configurator, as well as the arduino IDE.
I'm getting STK500 errors. tried so many things so far.
I have a USBasp coming today; but my question is, what bootloader is this method sending? a custom bootloader? based off the anet bootloader? why not move to optiboot to save space? can I load optiboot and still use the TH3D firmware? is it absolutely necessary to use the bootloader? (i ask because my buddy also has an anet, and he does not have a USBasp, and he's in canada and not as tech savvy with the bootloader stuff -- he already has skynet 1.1 though)

I ended up having to order a USBASP and flash bootloader.. only way I could get anything to load onto it. also, Personally I went from the TH3D firmware back to standard marlin because changing some of the options that I needed weren't easily accessible in TH3D vs standard Marlin. The bootloader I flashed from TH3D seemed to work fine with standard marlin.

Hopefully its one that's actually only 6-pins wide. I ordered on that was a "10 pin to 6 pin", but it used a 10-pin sized connector but the outside pins were simply blocked off (filled in w/ plastic). made it a huge PITA to flash, as I had to basically use header pins inserted into my adapter, then perfectly line them up with the pins on the board, then with my foot click "burn bootloader" lol took me like 30 minutes of fiddling. would have been easier if I had breakout pin jumpers but i didn't have any on me at the time. order a full set of 120 of each type (Male to Male, female to male, and female to female).

      @chriscallahan7390 4 ปีที่แล้ว

I think there is an issue with a trace in the board from one of the programming pins. I’ve used several different usbasp devices with the same issue. When you plug in the programmer cable to the board you should see a couple of led lights come on and blink. One next to the j3 socket and one near the large chip by the high voltage input. Seen this on other videos. Error seems to be that the board isn’t getting power through to the chip either a bad trace or chip input pin. I don’t get either of the leds to light on the board. So error is that the usbasp isn’t getting a reply from the chipset on the board. I was lucky enough to have a factory boot loader to install marlin through. Though the factory boot loader occupies more room than a new boot loader. Just can’t enable to many features before chip memory runs out.

What is the effect of flashing the bootloader apart from custom boot animations?

TH3D Studio Aahhh, what happens if you just upload the new firmware without that?

If there is no bootloader you cannot update the Anet board firmware to Marlin. I flashed a bootloader and then finally Marlin successfully and is working great along with my inductive probe.

Can this be done via Mac?

Yes. We actually just sent out a new Arduino setup program for Mac users.

You should use the UNO method. The USBASP is a pain. Thats why we dont sell the USB ASP and instead carry the UNO kits. www.th3dstudio.com/product/arduino-uno-bootloader-flashing-kit/

Something I do not understand. Doesn't the USBASP come with a 10 pin cable already? Why would you need a 10 pin to 6 pin adapter cable. The 10 pin cable should just plug in, right?
Also why program in a bootloader when you could just program the board directly using the USBASP? Or is it because you can program with more revisions later using just USB?

The programming pins in the pinout on the 10pin Anet header does not match the pinout of the 10Pin USBasp programmer. The 6 pin adapter rewires the pins to the proper connections.

2.08 showing instructions....no chance! Grey text over exposed almost white out! Did you not see this when editing the video?

Looks good on our screens here. Also, make sure you have the resolution on the video set high to 1080p.

Is it only me...that cannot see the text filmed on the computer screen? Maybe a written A-Z how to would be an idea for those who’ s eyesight or mental capacity is insufficient to follow this....
