What do you think children 16 and 17 need? "To be listened to, that's it." I could not agree more with this statement because we as a society are failing some of our most vulnerable.

This makes me so angry. Again, some older children are devalued. They should ALL be valued.

When i was 5 years old my father took me from my mother with her conscent, to live with him and his new wife.
It quickly bacame apparent to me that she took an instant dislike to me, more like hatered. She had four children of her own. Anyway the abuse started off almost immediately making me stand in the corner of the room facing the wall for absolutely no reason that a five year old child would understand anyway. The days went on with low level mental abuse, well to a five year old boy it was devastating. My father was a long distant driver so all this abuse took place when he was out, but he could see that I was unhappy there. So her four children started to bully me and attacked me in the house. They had a dog that use to nip me, and they would all just laugh. I started to hear her mother say to her, "Why don't you just dump him somewhere." So after a year of mental tourment at the hands of everyone in that house, she finally decided to take her mothers advice and dump me on the street I was only 6 years. So Social services placed me with a foster family but after a year the moved me to a children's home. That was a blow to me because I became part of a loving family. When I was 8 years old they moved me to another children's gome where I stayed for 8 years. I left the children's home when I was 16, then they moved me to another children's home for a year, then when I was 17 they moved me to an half way house to get me use to an independant life. I left the care system as I went in feeling alone, worried, & affraid. Of course i have not put every awful experience in this post. Thank You..........................

And Sexual Abuse which is rarely talked about where children especially young ones are exposed to the threat in some environments. I advise anyone to watch Jon Wedger on youtube who is addressing these issues together with other people, issues that apparently main media don't go into.

If someone is abused by his parents everyday needs to be put somewhere. These homes should be reviewed rechecked and fixed.

I live next to a care home like this and it's been 18 years of hell, they bang on our walls regularly evenings and day, shouting loud music etc. We have called the police over and over again and nothing gets done, We have also contacted the council and never get a reply. Does anyone know how to get this care home moved?

Ofsted make it practically impossible for us to find regulated placements for over 16s! Reform is needed!

At 8.25 she doesn't know how the DBS checks work. This is very wooly reporting. The children's commissioner should be asking the government to enable local authorities to provide more therapeutic small group homes as they are much more effective in safeguarding and improving children's outcomes.

I spent a year working as a support worker in these semi independent places, the YPs where left with no bedding always hungry and their needs not met, when pushing to meet their needs both staff and managers would say it crosses over to care and its not our job, if we had self harm incidents we got told to assess the damage then basically if they didnt need to go hospital, then just to leave them to get on with it.... i found this disturbing, i would not be ok if my child was left hungry cold and uncared for. they are just children. i would never set foot in these set ups again, its a ticking time bomb and the only people who benefit are the ones earning the money. some of these 16 and 17 year olds have been under sustained trauma for years, and are just lumped into a home and expected to get on with it... they dont know what a caring adult is and its disgusting that people profit like this

Another sad story of privatisation, and the sadder ramifications will be felt harshes by people that require help and care the most.

I can't watch, I know it'll make me too angry. I live next to a care home though, not one child I've seen in 2 years, there's a full time gardener though, working until 10 at night, place is empty for 2 year, should be closed down, waste of council money

I'm glad that the whole report isn't "they're all bad", but there are good care homes, and they even agree that they should be regulated.

Parents have too many rights. They shouldn’t. All they do is throw away their kids. Too many parents are narcissistic and abusive to kids. We need government to replace parents. I grew up in violent abusive children’s homes. Three generations are fed up and we will take over your sick world. We demand revenge!

Part of the problem is the ever widening gap between rich and poor. Liverpool has a lower GDP per capita than for example Athens and its half that of London. This will massively increase their exposure to crime and other abuse.

Quite a lot of young people in care are 16-18 are s.20 voluntary accommodated and from 18 they can apply to have care orders discharged ie request another court hearing. We also always explore whether children can go home to parents, we can and do, set up placement with parents if safe to do so.

Some children need safe place away from family. Most are taken by social services on the base of false allegations and possible “future neglect “

@@brianpcpc5292,It would do you some good to really look into God and how He works. People do horrible things, it is not Gods will that they hurt anyone, that is their choice. I know a lot of people, myself included, used to wonder why God allowed innocent people to be harmed. When I started learning more about God and got into a relationship with Him, (all He wants is a relationship) I now realize that people will do what they want to, no matter what God thinks. And Gods hands are tied because people get to make their own choices, even if it hurts others. I know that may be hard to swallow, but it is the truth. Look up free will, because we have free will, God gives us a choice to do what we want to do. Most people that love the Lord, do not go around hurting innocent people. I'm only telling you this because I know how confused I was about all the innocents being harmed by people, even so called Christians, a normal, so to speak, Christian will not do the things these people are doing, even though we could if we choose to. I hope that helps a little. I know a lot of people have been hurt by someone in church, o call it "church hurt", and they never want to step foot in another church. They are not all the same, that's what we all have to understand. It is hard to trust anyone after they have hurt us and I understand anyone thinking it is okay to God for innocent people to be hurt. It looks that way, but its not.
