This is a horrible way to "care" for teenagers 😰 How is dumping a kid in a house with other kids, with no help, no hope, and not even seeing to their basic needs.. how is that anything short of abandonment? They can be bullied or assaulted by other kids or strangers.. this is nothing short of criminal 😠

I was in several under 16 and over 16 childrens homes just like this in Dover, Ashford, Maidstone and Folkestone. They're more common than you think... Some only care about the money and poorly-manned Social Services don't believe "problem children" like me when we ask for help. Three "supported accommodation" placements I was in after tipped me over the edge during to lack of support and NO basic mental health training which should be mandatory when looking after kids like us. I just can't believe that after so many years this is still an issue. It breaks my heart. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. 😔

For this amount of money, I cannot believe they couldn't find honest reliable people to manage these homes! Why can't families or couples apply to run foster homes of a few kids, monitored by social workers? These numbers are shocking, no wonder it attracts the wrong type of people if it's handed out unchecked!

Based on a variety of different factors, the level of support needed for that child, their needs, the risks they pose to others in the home, the level of staffing needed to manage a child. It’s clear within this video different children from different boroughs have a different budget due to them factors.

I have lived in supported accommodation and have experienced insane things from housemates doing drugs, violence, exhibiting mental disorders, prostitution and stealing etc. Even had an armed police raid at the property l was living once, it was unheard of l tell you.
The supported housing companies just aim to fill up the houses with unvetted individuals (from convicts to average joes) and never have real support in place yet they make so much money monthly charging exorbitant prices like £200 to £250 per room WEEKLY in an 8 bedroom property. The government will willingly pay £800 per person each month for to rent a room in a shared support house of multiple occupants BUT refuse to pay any more than 375 per month as a single person for a private tenant to house you in your own 2 bedroom flat. The system is broken.
The photos and videos l got of the going ons in the house l lived will shock the hell out of you. Thank goodness l made it out of that house in one piece... physically, however mentally l think l got maimed.

He agreed the money paid for each house was true but think about the fact there were no staff or at most 2/3 that's £1,500mth probably in wages gas, elec, rent food this would be around £6- 10,000k mth. My son however, never been excluded, never been in trouble with the police and is extremely well behaved... was removed from my care and I was deemed 'over-protective' .... neither of us did a thing wrong. I held his school to account for him being bullied and had a legal case against them... they called SS. It has destroyed me. SW's place children who will give them less paperwork to do. Ridiculous! They should have to provide a set list of provisions for the money they charge. There should be set meals & snacks provided, set items they have to provide for each child & the household, set hours that staff have to spend with each child & group of children, set areas of guidence & tuition that staff should have to cover. There should be regulations & inspections. Surprise inspections, more than once a year. Interviews where children are asked what has been provided for them & if they need anything.

60K a MONTH???? That's almost 10K/child .... Those poor children are evidently not receiving 8-10K worth of care and support a month. As an at risk youth myself this is why I chose not to enter the care system.... Those poor kids- already so alone at such a young age in need of basic care- to then be re-abused.... This MUST be addressed in order to prevent the psychological damage that can lead one to snap and take out their anger (and poverty/needs) on society!!!

'no one is holding them at throat level'??? Local Authorities are squandering Tax Payers money..... most of these kids would generally fair better with their parents. That 70'000 pcm rent could be far better spent. :(

Squandering tax payers money ? They would fair better with parents ? Some have no parents ! Some are abused by parents ! This is not something children do for fun. No it is not an ideal situation. Private companies shouldn't profiteer from this. No under 16s shouldn't be in these situations. These are children in this situation because they cannot live with family. So what you want them thrown out on the streets to save taxpayers money ? Shame on you. Forced to live with abusers ? Shame on you.

Reasons for strict regulations that actually safeguard these vulnerable children! The regulations need to be for safeguarding and not to make it difficult for business owners to provide the correct service for placements.

Easy money to them.. you could already tell by the car and the way that man is in total denial. "I've got nothing to hide". Yet he takes the woman to another house? Not even the one the teenagers live in. It's disgusting the "care" they say happens. The "support" that gets so overused as a word. These teenagers need practical and emotional support. They don't choose to be in care. ❤

Heart breaking all these children needed was stability...guidence understanding and a safe place to live this wasn't it.... how the council's didn't seek the statement of purpose stating the ages of children that would be housed with this money grabbing scumbag is beyond me ....regs 8 clearly doesn't attend these properties neither did the children's parental guardian their social workers to have allowed hunger to occur...staff appear shocking in listening to this, where were their duty of care for these vulnerable children.. let down for money.... support? They supported each other....heartbreaking

Thankfully my social worker does in fact care but man the stories I've heard from other kids who have lived in the same supported accomodation and different accommodation is absolutely horrible. I've only been away from home for around 5 months and it's been horrible and I've got pretty much the best you can get

Too true. Our country is oppressed, and apathy everywhere. Moral among the masses is low and most people simply don't think they can do a thing about this...even if they wanted to. The state is robbing the tax payer and greedy wealthy people are making wealth from vulnerable causes.
