I love your videos!! You a re very informed and detailed with your descriptions. Your camera angles are great. it's easy to see the project. I love the brands in your leather!! Im going to retire from sheet metal at the beginning of April. What im seeing with leather work is very simulator to what i do with light gaudge steel and copper. Thanks for sharing your trade.
Just received the box today. This video timing was perfect, and the American Bison looks and feels great. Can't wait to put this together. I'm also trying to figure out what other leather I can use to make more for gifts. Love the kit.
I'm really enjoying this project. As soon as I finish up the orders from the gun show I'll get started on my "Man Satchel" I am a bit jealous of all those brands on the one you just made, but I don't blame you for picking those out for the video. I'll need to order a few of those BG clasps too. Those are perfection.
Excellent video. This definitely will have a lot f hand sewing hours in it, but will be worth every stitch. The American Bison in my two kits looks good sitting in the box. It is going to make one heck of a satchel x2
Aron, I don’t think you have to worry about the bag looking feminine. A lot men carry briefcases, satchels, etc. If you really want it to look manly, put a brand on it. Too bad the bison didn’t have a brand on it. You could have put it front and center. You could make a brand and Emboss it. I like the bag. In today’s world anything goes. Best regards, Richard
The Devil Wears Prada. “Miranda: Please bore someone else with your questions. And make sure we have Pier 59 at 8am tomorrow, and remind Jocelyn (I need to see a few of those satchels that Mark is doing in the pony), and then tell Simone I'll take Jackie if Maggie isn't available. Did Demarchelier confirm? Finally I understand this movie line!
Great video. Looks like it would be great project to get a break from building saddles. Have you used a dapping block to predome your rivets. I will polish chucked up in drill on polishing wheel if needs.
I got my shipping notification yesterday and I am super excited to put this project together. This maybe more of a hand sewing question for completing the project. When you are attaching the front panel and the gusset would you recommend trying to use the clips or glue/tape? So, use the clips to hold everything where it should be, remove one clip at a time to punching the holes then replacing the clips as you go. Or would you recommend gluing the two pieces together? I am still new to the hobby. Glue is something I am comfortable with. Currently, saving time is not high on my list of needs. However, getting the panels to line up and the project looking good would be :)
Contact cement would definitely hold it most secure, you just have to make sure that you're careful to keep it inside the seam so it won't be seem once you turn the front back.
Great video and Beautiful bag Aaron! Love the project box concept. Unfortunately, I missed out on this one, but will probably pick up the templates though. Just curious, did you work straight thru or take a lunch break? Looks like you knocked it out in about 5 and a half hours. Or less....
@makersleathersupply1220 Just received my template set today along with a leather guage. Top quality templates, can't wait to use them. Already used the guage. I can see that being a huge time saver as I sort through my hoard looking for a particular thickness. Thank you for all you do for us "leatherheads".
Aaron at 1:00:40 you put on piping sewing it down if i am hand stitching and using irons could you use double sided tape or glue for this part to reduce holes punched.
I would try to carefully glue it all together making sure the glue won't show once the bag is turned right side out. That way you don't have to do the basting seam.
For sewing on the flap, when wouldn't you just sew a big rectangle instead of doing two rows of stitching with back stitching at the beginning and end?
Really good AGAIN. Pretty fancy ball peen. What camera are you using if you don't mind me asking? First time getting the box rather than just the pattern.
I’m calling this bag. The Indiana Jones. Bag little movie trivia what pistol did Indiana carry in his bag? He holstered a 1913 colt new army 45 ACP revolver. Watch the bar scene in Nepal.
@@makersleathersupply1220 if you look carefully when he runs out of ammo in the doorway he pulls out a 1911. The only time I believe he shots an auto in any of the indie movies . Just a beautiful piece.
I love that leather :) Bag turned out great!
Arrived today . Thanks for posting this video .

Absolutely enjoyed this video, love the details and congrats to you too. 22 pounds and counting... 😎 👌🏼

WOW...one of the most amazing project videos I have ever seen! Thank you for taking the time to put this video together!!!
Sharp!!
Got er done. I like it,alot
I wish I would have gotten this box this month. I am going to get the pattern.
I guess I should have watched the entire video. We think a like. Richard

Very nice bag 💼 👍🏻and great video , and the Template looks great and i dont think the price was so high , would sell great here in sweden
i was thinking you were losing weight well done you also great video nice bag
Aron I am actually hand sewing this bag, and it's looking really good 👍
Awesome! I've seen a few others hand sewing theirs as well and they turn out amazing!
I have a side of utility leather similar to that with straight edges ready to make this bag.

Sup Aaron awesome job on the leather pony Express bag have a great day today in the classroom Aaron and Jeannie Sue and Marsha and doc My friends!🇺🇸👀
Mascon Leather has some cool measuring tools you would like.
Great video. Looks like it would be great project to get a break from building saddles.
Have you used a dapping block to predome your rivets.
I will polish chucked up in drill on polishing wheel if needs.
The brass ones are difficult to dome. I may have to try a mapping block, I have one somewhere.
Nice bag. You should try sewing the wealt onto the gusset. It helps to not need snipping or fighting the corners.
I've done it both ways. I prefer to sew the piping to the curved pieces, it helps it all lay more flat for final assembly.
If I order this, can I also get the most marked up, branded, scared leather?
mine should be here today! great tutorial! What brass rivet size are you using? Buckle guy setters come in several sizes.
#9 half inch for this project
1:53:21 I made two bags all by hand. It takes time. Definitely More than 2 hours.
I definitely need to make this satchel. Are you selling the kit and the template separately?

@@makersleathersupply1220 thank you for the reply!!
Are you using the 7 SPI on the machine as well, or do you use another stitch length? Thanks and great job.
7 will do the job just fine. I'd bet mine is set somewhere between 7 and 8
AA Ron 11/8 half of that is 11/16
Three inches is a long way!
Great video and Beautiful bag Aaron!

I worked straight through. The next day I sat down and made another of these bags in about 3 hours.

What do you think for a range for retail on this with the standard hardware ?
In the right market, $300-$500 would be my target

Yes you can.
@@makersleathersupply1220thank you
Question would you use the same process of sewing the welt and gusset on when hand stitching? Would you still use the clips to keep it together?
I would try to carefully glue it all together making sure the glue won't show once the bag is turned right side out. That way you don't have to do the basting seam.
@@makersleathersupply1220 last question contact cement or white leather glue?
@@andrewdunn8387 definitely contact cement
What clasp is that? I was not able to see it on your site.
It's going to be on the site later today
Where did you get that anvil?
Check Mascon leather. He and his son make some really nice leather tools.
What melting foot size did you use
1/4"

That would work fine as well
I bought the template but if you’re selling just the kits in the future, what will you do for placing pieces without the jigs?
I'll figure something out.
Aron, how can I get this pattern pack?
The link is in the video description
Yes.. I believe the link is just for the acrylic templates and not the whole kit
Really good AGAIN. Pretty fancy ball peen. What camera are you using if you don't mind me asking? First time getting the box rather than just the pattern.
My camera is a DJI pocket 3
Thanks Aaron. I'm getting close to using a bag this might be it, you know the stuggle I'm having@@makersleathersupply1220

In Raiders I believe it was a Smith 1917

Very nice! Wish I saw this while the box was still available. Do you offer a paper pattern download or just the acrylic templates?
Just the template
