    The bladeless arms are the same mold as the Alien Queen's smaller arms. They used them on the Aliens that were meant to be shot at and blown up

    I still need to Koto Chap so bad! The A³ dog seems to be still rarely available, at least I found 3 japanese stores who had it in stock to send me a mail after order that it is gone🤷‍♂
    It is insane the what the Kotobuyika Big Chap is sold for today, I saw offers from 250€ to 1600€🤦 As much as I want it, I think 200 bucks would be my personal limit
    Or Kotobuyika just could do a reissue, damn it!😅

      It really is insane what they go for, and I just don't understand why they haven't reissued it. I mean, it's money in the bank. As a matter of fact I'm certain people would pay between $300 and $400 for 1/6 scale version with the same level of detail and paint precision. I've been trying to figure out if prime one's release is using an upscaled and flipped version of the koto sculpt as their template. Some of the wrinkles look exactly the same, and the basic stepping forward posture is the same.

      @@strangeform Yeah I almost bought the prime one deluxe version last year, good that I did not they have bad customer support and QC issues that just shouldn't be in that price range. So ofc I would spend a few houndred bucks on a Koto 1/6 or even 1/4 scale version

    As a practical effects artist, this BIG CHAP is one of very best you can buy

    Yes, a new video! Love hearing your expert views on the Alien franchise and memorabilia!
    The office looks awesome! I do like the atmosphere of the attic space, so hopefully that rotates back around once the threat of heat stroke is not a factor. Oh, and Robocop (1987) is one of my all time favorite films. I’ve seen it dozens if not a hundred times and will always make an effort to see it in theaters when available

    • @strangeform
      @strangeform  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh yes, the attic will definitely be back. We have a slate roof, so the space becomes an oven during the summer, and a fridge during the winter. But the lights put off a fair amount of heat, so in the winter, it is a happy medium. Robocop spoke to the human condition and corporate greed to such a perfect degree that it was more relevant to the modern world than the remake could hope to be. And Verhoeven did it with sardonic wit rather than beating you over the head with it.

      Well from here on out we should be back on track, and something I didn't mention was that our water heater nearly exploded. So it's been a loaded couple weeks. I'm excited to share the novel, very few people have seen it outside of my immediate sphere. I have four books planned and have spent most of my life researching philosophy, world religion, and the occult just to service those books. Plus the TB league Egyptian pantheon figures are awesome in and of themselves.

    Thanks! I was waiting your new video, thanks for taking the time to do it. By the way, have you checked the Toy Federation videos? I find them oddly interesting, they have a random content, but they are kind of relaxing. Have a great week!

    • @strangeform
      @strangeform  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I have seen TF, they are definitely entertaining, I also like froggy flips and Deanknight333, to name a few in a really robust community (definitely have some collecting interests in common with that last one). But I stay away from any reviews that I am (or will be) doing so I can form an unbiased opinion.

      One (kotobukiya Big Chap) just went on eBay for $79 plus shipping. So there are still deals to be had, plus I see them come through yahoo auctions japan regularly. Just keep your eyes open.

    Good video and great commentary so we who don't own any can get an idea of the actual stuff.
    I own many brands of aliens and predators but not Kotobukiya, yet.
    Have you seen the Konami miniatures? I own all of them and for a cheap small figure are very nice.

    • @strangeform
      @strangeform  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! Keep an eye out for the big chap, but if you have the Neca Alien Warrior and Dog Alien figures you are pretty much set, I don't see any reason to overpay for those two. And yeah I do actually have quite a few of the Konami figures, as a matter of fact the Nostromo is sitting on top of my computer right now. Really I've been picking up little Japanese gashapon and miniatures since I was a teenager. Star Trek, Evangelion, Alien, Robocop, to name a few. I have always really appreciated the amount of attention to detail that goes into even the smallest dimestore Japanese toys, there is just an entirely different philosophy applied to craftsmanship over there (Even when it comes to mass-produced items).

    Awesome and accurate review made by a true and well educated collector. Keep it up! Maybe one day you'll review the Medicom Real Action Figures 1/6 scale Alien Big Chap (which you briefly presented in another video) as it is one of the most accurate 1/6 scale representations of the 1979 xenomorph drone out there.

    • @strangeform
      @strangeform  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are right, that would be a good one to single out. Did you know that Medicom actually produced four different 12 inch "Real Action" Big Chaps before that one? They are nowhere near as acurat, but still officially licensed Big Chaps none the less. And it was that figure in particular that I learned that there was a difference between 12 inch and 1/6th scale. A 1/6th scale figure assumes that the average height is six foot and scales that down to 1/6th, so anything that is larger or smaller than a six foot tall human will also be larger or smaller than a one foot tall human when scaled-down.
      A 12 inch figure is one that is one foot tall, regardless of how big they would be next to a six foot tall human at their full size. You probably already know this, but I learned this when I got the medicom RA Alien and put him next to Hot Toys lt Ripley. Unfortunately, he (the Medicom) is a 12 inch figure and looks like a child xenomorph next to the 1/6th Hot Toys figure, which is a shame, as I would much rather display that one next to her than Hot Toys Big Chap.

      @Strange Form @Strange Form Hi, I know of only two previous versions of the Medicon Big Chap figure, a translucent version, and a much darker version, but indeed, the sculpt of either is at best... modest. This is the kind of info we collectors would love to hear from you during your videos, so make no mistake in believing that your videos may not be pitched to the right audience, we're passionate collectors for a reason. I don't have the Hot Toys Big Chap yet, but I naively assumed it would be the same size as the RAH Medicom version...

    • @strangeform
      @strangeform  ปีที่แล้ว

      @Dan Vladoiu so did I, my friend, so did I. Fortunately, I got the medicom at a steal, but I almost paid $300, thinking it would be a better display option than Hot Toys. In a world full of countless Super Deformed Funko Pop style Big Chaps, and even more than one stuffed animal, it just blows my mind that there is only one true 1/6th scale figure... and Hot Toys fumbled it!
      As for Medicom, there are two others that are both officially licensed to the first film. One is grey, and the other is also translucent. But this is where we get into the muddy waters of figures that don't properly represent their film counterpart. The body on those two is definitely supposed to be the big chap, but the head is slightly ridged. So, in those cases, I defer to the license.

    • @danvladoiu9365
      @danvladoiu9365 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Strange Form Fair enough, I wonder when or if we'll ever get a kotobukiya grade articulated big chap figure. I would be willing to pay +£100 for it. I had high hopes for the Mezco Toyz version and waited nearly 1.5 years after pre-ordering it only to be disappointed by the low quality to price ratio....

      @strangeform  ปีที่แล้ว

      The big chap I got from a comic book store that was going out of business. I just got lucky and saw it behind the counter and asked, "How much for the kotobukiya?" He gave it to me for $60 out the door. The other two I got from proxy bidding on Yahoo Auctions japan. These all come through eBay regularly, the big chap often going for well above $200, the other two for less. Check your local comics and collectibles stores as well as conventions. They are made by kotobukiya and show up here and there periodically.

    Bruh, nah, the NECA Runner's so painfully inaccurate, (not even bloody symmetrical) almost as much as McFarlane's one. This has the best version of that creature.
