Tied the Alberto backwards, ALMOST always your mono/flouro is thicker than your braid. Wrap braid around mono!!!! IMPORTANT that the wrapping line exits the "loop" to the same side it entered. For offshore we tie a lot of 40 or 50lb flouro to 30lb braid. Could you imagine trying to wrap 40 lb flouro around braid?? Good luck with that!
I do this one immediately... In my life I always do the double albright knot with satisfaction and a minimal mistakes on a spinning fishing session... but this one appear more accurated and even with a small diameters such as in an eging braid and mono is easy to see every turn of the lines. Thanks a lot 👍🏻
This is the best lead feeds smooth casting barely can tell switch I'm just beginning but as all beginners learning a whole lot about knots looking forward to much more tips and ??? WWay CCool thanks
Looks like a great knot but the albright seems a lot quicker and easier. I also feel wrapping the braid around the mono makes the knot stronger and gives it a lower profile.
@@stevensands33 Mono has higher abrasion resistance than braid because it's a single filament. Since braid is woven from many individual fibers once a few of them are compromised there's more and more stress on the remaining fibers and they just give out. In the case of leader knots you want the mono on the outside taking the hits against the guides unless it's much, much thicker than the braid.
@@pizzarat3275 ok but performance wise braid out performs mono in these scenarios still. I’ll take a few frayed brands of braid over fresh mono in any situation. If you guys are talking about giant mono for saltwater fish then I guess it wouldn’t matter. I’m taking light lines.
Smaller the knot the better! May be fine with bigger pole eyelets but for me FG is the bomb and double uni are my go tools but I like to learn new things...nice video
FG is great! Like the Bimini Twist really lost its popularity due to its level of complexity. Complexity in general leads to error. Great knot lots of practice. 3:51
I would never use a double uni. The Albero knot is easier to tie, smaller, and twice as strong I use is on all lines that are about the same diameter, To tie heavy leader to braid the FG is the ONLY way to go.
Great knot but would never put a flame near my line. If you look closely You can see the melting of the mono/ flouro at the knot. It’s unnecessary and can only weaken the line. Especially if you are bouncing on the waves. Your method looks simple and quick other than the fire. Thank you I’m going to try it
Iv done it your way and my tag end tends to point up and away from the reel causing the tag to wrap around my guides. was thinking maybe this would make the tag point towards my reel so if it duz snag it will snag on when i reel in which would be more manageable. Right?
Once I learned the FG there’s no going back, except for a quick tie-on when I’m in an awkward position, then I’ll use the improved Albright. Nothing beats the low profile and strength of the FG, especially when you’re using line of any thickness
@forrhs8430 I can't disagree with you. I have been using it for the last 4 years. I sat at home for the better part of a year watching the BASS live events and the MLF live events on the TV/phone and tied the knot with line I was planning on donating until I felt I had it down to where I could fish it in a tournament. It was taking about 2 to 3 minutes to tie it aside from the fact that it would take two or three tries before it actually worked. Now, it takes about 30 seconds, and it won't affect my fishing.
I needed to learn how to tie a leader to braid and just started trying things and this is what i eventually came up with except i double up both lines. Glad i know what its called now
This is a great knot I have used for 10 years. You need to tie the braid in a loop with a knot and do a half granny knot on the leader. If these steps aren’t done your knot won’t be as strong. I’ve spent many hours testing knots to prove it.
Thankyou I was always breaking off now that I know the correct way I will be ok thanks man I'm going to use that connection of lines when needed appreciate you thanks
Seems like a modified becket bend or sheet bend knot. The only difference is instead of wrapping the smaller diameter line around the bite of bigger diameter once, you did it many times and then retraced it and THEN put it back through the loop. Very interesting I'll definitely be using this from now on
Yeah Ill stick with the Alberto. Been using it for over a decade with out a problem. Its simple, fast, and hard to get wrong. It may not be the strongest knot but Im fishing for bass, not Atlantic blue marlin. Try tying this knot or knots like the FG on a windy day on a pitching bass boat in foot rollers. Good luck!
I use that knot and I’ve had huge black tip sharks and it’s never ever once broke off always breaks off at my snap snivel. Even if I get snagged on the reef it’s never has broken off
fg is the strongest knot you can tie without a bobbin and the only leader to braid knot i would ever use. most people won't need it. alberto is a northeast surfcaster and he needed something he can tie out on a rock at night when the waves are breaking around you. as far as i know he's caught more 50 lb stripers from shore than any man alive.
knots such as this are not so easy to do on the bank or in the boat with the wind howling into your face, for this reason I find that a simple 6 wrap surgeons knot is much easier to do when I am attaching my fluorocarbon leader to my braid
The proper Alberto is knot is my favorite knot. I use it every time I fish. If I free line it’s the Alberto knot 100% of the time. Super strong and easy on the guides.
This looks like an Alberto knot to me just wrapping the flouro around the braid instead of the other way around, Doesn't look like a good knot to me but I will test is and see if it is worth using.
So many knot vids.....many are similar in nature & look effective. My only problem with braided(20lb) main to fluorocarbon(~8lb) leader....these smaller diameter lines are IMO more difficult to tie with some of these videos....if not the double uni...it's a swivel which also prevents line twist for the win.
this is easy to tie and very narrow for connecting lines /leaders to run smooth through fishing rod guides .. but what about overall knot strength in comparison and which material line first? the fluro or the braid for step one?.. like this knot!
Great demo except it would be better if you lubed up the line before you start pulling on the lines! Will help prevent burning the mono from the friction.
Cool knot, just doubt it would work for lighter line, with that kind of tension you'll break the flouro everytime! What lb test is this flouro, must be at least 20-30 yeah?
A nice-looking knot, but, in my opinion, a hybridisation of the Yucatan and Carrot Knot. The true Carrot Knot goes by several different names - Carrot Knot, Bullet Knot, Mahin Leader Knot, and always starts with an Overhead Knot (Granny Knot) usually on the leader line. Once completed, you have a knot with all the tag ends at the back of the knot and all the wraps at the front of the knot forming a close approximation to a 'carrot' or 'bullet' from which it derives its name. Normally, the main line, like braid, will be thinner than the leader line material, so it makes sense to make the overhead knot on the thicker material. But should your main line be thicker than your leader line - say 20 lbs main line to 12 lbs fluoro, you are better off making the overhead knot on the main line and using the thinner leader line to make the wraps. It will be just as strong, but not as stream-lines since your wraps will now be facing inwards towards the reel rather than outwards in the direction of cast.
Whatever knot tying you have for mono to braid with either the end of the mono ends up at the top or ends up at the bottom of the knot you end up losing your eye whenever retrieving or casting. There must be someway the end of the mono especially when the mono is 12lbs or more lbs that end up protruding must be covered inside the knot formed or some other way where the end of the mono is concealed, any suggestion???
Thanks! this is a handy one, fresh or salt water.
can be applied in both places

Yeah man I wouldn't want that fat chunk of fluoro blasting thru my guides
Pass the tag end through the loop opposite direction it first entered and ya got the Albright
I thought the exact same thing!
Crazy Alberto is my go-to knot.
I have used this Carrot knot in conjunction with the Bimini Twist for over 50 years, and never had a fail !.
I'd love to know more about the process on that. Could you explain in more detail what it looks like from braid to bumper fluoro? 👍🏻
Good knot. Not sure but I believe it's called the Alberto knot.
Yes it’s albernot
Alberto is braid wrapped around Mono , this is mono around braid .... Yeah cool but thicker than the original
This knot looks easier for my old arthritis fingers 😊

This is the Albright knot in reverse. Instead of wrapping the braid around the mono, you wrap the mono around the braid. Brilliant!
The Albright does not wrap over itself like this one does. You may be thinking of the Alberto and not Albright
The Albright we use to tie our top shot for cod fishing. We like to call it the baccala knot.😊
Albright Is better for heavier monofilament
Without even talking, dude is able to teach us how to tie these knots. Thank you so much for your content.
Looks like a great knot but the albright seems a lot quicker and easier. I also feel wrapping the braid around the mono makes the knot stronger and gives it a lower profile.
On top of that the braid protects the leader through the guides. If an albright breaks it was tied extremely wrong.

Mono is far more abrassive resistant than braid.

Very very cool.
I subscribed. First time I've seen a fishing knot channel haha.
Just what I need.
it is an albright knot made in reverse by spinning the nylon instead of the braided thread
Braid should wrap around the leader as it will go through the rings better and the reel
Ikatan knot yang cukup kemas dan padu 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
the best braid to nylon i have ever seen. Thank you
Check the Albright knot out then it's even easier to tie.
All backwards. Braid around mono or floro. And top of carrot goes towards reel. So you can cast without getting hung up.
Iv done it your way and my tag end tends to point up and away from the reel causing the tag to wrap around my guides. was thinking maybe this would make the tag point towards my reel so if it duz snag it will snag on when i reel in which would be more manageable. Right?
You need to do it in reverse like the Alberto Knot. The tag end doesn’t catch on the eyes when casting. Wrap the braid around the fluorocarbon.
I like the knot for sure looks simple enough to tile. I will play with it but the FG knot is still my go to.

Braid around mono is better. Braid digs into mono and the knot will be skinnier.

Strong knot but despite wetting the knot you can see the friction on the leader between the knot and the leader which makes it vulnerable
