I mod the heck out of those $1 walmart spinnerbaits. They look like Frankenstein when I'm done. But most bass don't even care. Large mouth and striped bass love them.
So do I.. I strip them and build them with a single top quality #4 or #4.5 willow leaf blade .. usually they break at 4 to 5 fish depending on the size of the fish.. I've had my share of heart breaks ..lol
I'm on a Sunday morning BFHQ marathon! I appreciate when you put the links to other videos on the screen. When there isn't a link, the algorithm seems to end up leading away from your channel.
Tyler, it would be great if you made a video (or maybe multiple videos for different situations) where you explain why you start out using the lure/bait that your using. Then when you switch to something else, why and what made you switch. Between you and others I watch, I always wonder why you may be excited about one bait when you were also excited to use a another bait for the same exact reason in a different video. I can make it tough for any fisherman to open there tackle box or bag and not get analysis paralysis or to not know if your just not by any bass or if it's time to just try another lure or just another color shade. Thank You.
Tyler, well, you did it again! Last year I filled up the boat following your advice on top water poppers. Now, I meant to post sooner, but the day after I watched this, my buddy and I headed to a small 5-acre pond. I cast a fluke into a pile of sticks and he cast a senko with nothing. I then tossed in a small Booyah white spinnerbait and snagged a 3+ pounder on my first cast. Needless to say, I stuck with it and so did my friend. We ended up with 12 on the afternoon and my bag was around 11-12 pounds - excellent for this pond! Thanks for the great info!
A lews bb1 5 to 1 is what I use a lot in the springtime when the water is cold up till it gets warmer. Hearing you say this validates my choice. Maybe I need to do this in the fall more.
Fall is spinnerbait season for me. In the Ozarks our water is the opposite of that water you're fishing right now. We normally have a lot of clear water, but we haven't had rain in so long. The water is quite low and quite clear. I did catch my biggest fish of the season on Table Rock a few weeks back, burning that Berkley spinnerbait right under the surface. I really like it too. I lost it later in the day when my line broke on a cast. That half ouncer flew about 2 miles.
I carry a rod with a spinner bait tied on at all times. One of my favorite lures. When bass are breaking the surface chasing bait fish and you cast catching them one right after the other it’s a lot of fun.
7ft Medium moderate rod . 6.6:1 gear ratio. The medium moderate rod let's the bass get it a little better before you set the hook. And the 6.6:1 is a dream to reel in with a spinnerbait.
Caught em really good on a crankbait and a spinnerbait Friday, size was lil better on the spinnerbait. And when a bass chases baitfish right up on the bank throw a spinnerbait to em and hang on! Every time
Just the topic thats been weighing on my mind lately ... lol! Nice vid Tyler! Can you share which color/blade combos for ponds / small lakes that i think dont have shad in them ... ?
Two things I'd like to mention is most people I know shy away from muddy water, they think bass won't stay in muddy water unless the whole lake is like that. I actually prefer really stained water over clear water. I feel like the fish are easier to catch. They don't spook as easy and I think they don't get to study the bait as good so you get more reaction bites. I've caught some of my biggest fish in muddy water. Second, I was having trouble landing fish with a spinnerbait. I would either not hook them good or they'd pull off. I couldn't get that just right setup. I tried several different rods and most of the time I'd feel the fish too quick and not get a good hook set. I tried something one day just for kicks and giggles after loosing 4 or 5 fish at the boat. I went to a med/hvy moderate action with 30 lb braid. The first fish i hooked i had no issues at all. I think the braid helped me feel the bite and give me a rock solid hook up and the moderate action let the fish inhale the bait without being too stiff and ripping the hook out. I use the same rod to fish top water and my chatterbaits and it works great for me.
I took some Berkley spinnerbaits and put Hildebrant blades on a few just to change them up a little and they work really well but so do the factory blades
I was tossing the strike king mini king spinnerbait with a bps split tail cajun trailer. Finally caught 2 on a spinnerbait. Usually I dont have much luck on spinnerbaits though. Gonna try the bigger size next time out. I did get 1 on a buzzbait today also!
I use that line a lot. I like the hi viz yellow in 12 lb test to fish with trick worms and other small texas rigs. I caught a 41 lb blue channel cat on a trick worm on that same 12 lb test out of a kayak and had no problems. I broke my rod but not my line.
i use spinner bait all year round. i have many different sizes of them. i put big rubber on them sometimes, catch muskies, pikes, bass, walleyes. all i need is spinnerbaits. i jig with them too. the swim pretty well.
I was just out on the lake in MN for about 6 hours in 55 degrees and the spinnerbait killed it today. I threw it into cover on the edge of drops off and they couldn't stay off the lure! Paired with a paddletail and these lures are deadly.
Great video! I've always wondered how people know what the bass are feeding on. Is it just common knowledge, what people see in their mouths, the type of bait balls that you see at the surface?
Booyah chartreuse double willow 365 days a year. I've always got at least one tied on every time I fish. No trailer or second hook needed especially in the fall.
I am doing a series where I ask people for a lure recommendation and try to catch a fish on that lure. What lure would you recommend? It has to be under $15 though.
You speak to stained or muddy water a lot in your fall videos. I’m running into very clear water on most all lakes in my area right now due to no rain. Could see leaves that came off the trees down to 15 feet. Still catches most on spinner bait but what is best for very clear water fall bass.
I bought a spinner bait the other day, I was so excited to throw it and maybe catch something. I found out that I need a crash course on how to do knots properly as I lost this bait first cast
@@clay7514 I normally do the palomar on other baits I use I was just confused on how I would do it on the spinnerbait because it's not a simple hole to loop through
Man today the bass were busting the shad on the top of the water and i didnt even think of a spinner bait. Smh what a rook. I shall try one next time out.

I like them for river pike. So many snags, I like to keep it cheap as possible. But I pull bass with them, even with a steel leader.

I always use the Catalpa green beetle spin. South La that color just works.
fished yesterday morning here in E TN , all the fish I caught we're on spinnerbaits. it was a great morning.

Great tips. I’ve been using a 7ft rod for spinnerbaits for yrs. I think it’s the best length for sure.

I like a Black spinnerbait in muddy water! 🐠🤓
Gracias por tu ayuda y decirme cuál es el modelo de ark cobb usado para spinner, ya lo buscaré yo.
What knot is best for spinner baits?
I’ve tried the uni and double pitzen, and the both slide up the wire.
Just use palomar knot, works great for spinners
@@Goessbry thank you

I fish with 12lb Yo-zuri and never had an issue with my spinner baits and it’s a lot cheaper than fluro.

Thanks for the explanations, they are enciteful as well as accurate.
is running braid to fluorocarbon a bad idea?
The war eagle spinnerbait is a confidence bait for me i always have one tied on all year long.

I want to order the Finn products, but the hard I like, black, grey, white, isn’t on stock

6'9 mh or 7'2 mh rod?

Try the Z-Man Hellraizer. It's easy to fish and gets explosive strikes. It's really good late in the evenings.
🔥basement analogy
I hate when I take a spinnerbait to the crotch.

Dangit! I hate when that happens
Practice the uni knot at home. It's not the best but it's the easiest.
I hate that for you. I use the improved clinch knot for just about everything with fluorocarbon or monofilament line to lure connections.
Palomar very easy too

Pb on a spinner bait 7.31
60% of the time, it works everytime!
Honestly, tragically, that,s 100% bullseye, to buy or build a structure on that land.
nope...the spinnerbait for me is a mystery I have tried and tried and no bites on the spinnerbait..so works every time...NOPE!!!
Slow it down! Choose normal colors, I had the same problem now I love them!
