      is that the 4kg forge or the 10kg forge. im thinking of buying one

    • @bigstackD
      @bigstackD  5 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Hey Rick how are you buddy that’s the 10 kg Forge which is absolutely awesome, it is a little bit more expensive than the 4 kg Forge but you’re better to have something a bit bigger in case you bought the 4 kg and wanted to go larger at a later date. There are two 10 kg furnaces but I would recommend the ceramic wool furnace as it’s 20 kg lighter than the refractory version and a fair bit cheaper and all-round a bloody good furnace. If you decide to buy one email me on that email and I’ll organise a personalised code for you to get the 5% off. Thanks for watching mate have a great day😁👍🏻

      @@maxm2909 (Always wear safety glasses), Always skim the top of the melt off with a spoon of some sort until the lead is bright and clean, (always make sure you have a dry mold), water and molten metal do not mix, as a child of about 9 or 10 years old, I would pick up tire weights from the gas stations in town, I melted them on the kitchen stove in an old coffee can, no ventilation.
      At one point I poured lead into a mold that had a drop of water left in it, I never did get the lead out of my clothes, also the reason for safety glasses. I wear a complete silver fire suit and stainless mesh face shield when I pour now, you only have to get burned a couple of times to understand that it hurts.

We just tossed it on top of an open fire and moved away so we didn't breathe in the toxic fumes. Comes out a bit blackened, but no rubber insulation, and sellable.

    • @bigstackD
      @bigstackD  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The copper melts at 1085°C I normally heat the copper up to about 1125°C and once I pour it itll only take a few seconds and it will solidify and it’s ready to be removed from the mold Just don’t use your hands as it will still be around 800°C after a minute.
