    FYI The lack of an opening graphic 'boarding pass' was an oversight, not a format change.

    I was in Pakistan for a few days last May, and it was an interesting trip, although at times far from relaxing. Almost everyone I dealt with was friendly and tried to be helpful, but frequently weren't. I found Peshawar in particular edgy, and felt under surveillance, probably because I was. I didn't get to fly Fly Jinnah, but did fly PIA to Dubai because Serene Air, which may well be a misnomer, cancelled. Half an hour before landing an announcement said we would be landing in half an hour, insh'Allah, which somehow I didn't find comforting. But we did, and the food was excellent. Thanks as ever for your excellent review.

      @@ictoan When professional airline pilots say “God willing (that’s what InshaAllah means), we will land in 30 mins”, that would throw many people off.

      InshAllah has its parallel in Western Ireland. Everything, and I mean everything my Irish mother utters about future or imminent events is accompanied by “God willing”, which I find both humble and prayerfully economical:). Can see how it could be disconcerting though to those for whom it’s not an everyday occurrence.

    • @tfft
      @tfft  หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      To be fair I was on an MH flight last month and the captain did the same thing multiple times per announcement. You'll find it throughout the Muslim world- I think the reason many don't find it to be true is becuase the vast vast (vast) majority of pilots for Middle Eastern carriers aren't actually from the region.

    The reason for the very few flights is that air travel is exponentially more expensive for the average Pakistani. Buses and trains are much cheaper, they can be very high quality as well, with some buses offering lie flat beds onboard. Meanwhile in the US, you can fly with Spirit or Frontier for cheaper compared to the Greyhound Bus in most cases.

    I really hope Fly Jinnah succeeds. Pakistan's population and size should mean that aviation is thriving but it's not. It needed a LCC to stimulate demand, and Air Arabia is the perfect airline group to do this. They have extensive experience with lots of high regulation countries and seem to be leading an air revolution in the region.

Lahore is giving a chance to Amritsar maybe even Ludhiana , Adampur and Hisar to beat in terms of passenger traffic I think Karachi and Islamabad are also following the same footsteps to give Rajkot and Jamnagar and maybe even Bhuj airport to go higher than them.

    Have you thought of doing a video that goes into detail of your Patreon rewards? If you had something showing examples of the rewards it would make things easier for me to choose.

      On my public Patreon page you can see the titles and snippets from all of my posts, which will give you an idea of the content that I post there. Travel advice is included with the upper two tiers, depending on how much advice you anticipate needing.
      For their privacy there is no way to show you what I generally do, but for example right now I’m actively working with 3 of my Patreons on their upcoming trips. One of them was looking for ways to get around paying insane airfares out of Australia, one of them was looking for advice about which destinations and hotels to visit in SE Asia and the third is similarly looking for itinerary and hotel advise along with airline reward booking tactics.
      The first of those three has been a Patreon for a year at my second highest tier and he comes to me each time he is planning a trip for a specific piece of advice. The latter two are in my top tier and have been with me for a few months and with both of them it has been questions about their needs/expectations, followed by my detailed recommendations and until now, weeks of back and forth near daily follow-ups for other details and questions that come up.
      At the end of the day, it’s paying me for my time. For my highest tier, it’s essentially unlimited access to my knowledge of the market/industry/tactic etc.

    • @tfft
      @tfft  หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Did I miss the first part? Your comment just starts with “…having said that”
      Either way though, the very true answer which I think too many creators are afraid to admit is that yes, it absolutely does lose its excitement, which is why I put up a sort of firewall a while back.
      I see the traveling I do for the channel as a job- a job that I enjoy- but a job. When I’m on these trips I have zero expectation of ‘traveling’- sometimes I can’t even leave my room, that is assuming I’m in the country for more than 12 hours to begin with.
      If I want to travel, I will return to a place that’s peaked my interest, likely after 2026. This way of thinking I think also helps me better judge things. I have no reason to take problems personally like people (rightfully) do when spending their hard earned cash on vacation. If I go into a hotel and the bathroom isn’t spotless, that’s my equivalent of the Xerox machine being out of service for a day.
      I always get a kick out of creators stuck in the “I’m so grateful to be able to do this” as if that’s the only emotion they have towards their work. I’m grateful to be able to do it, but I work 7 days a week. It’s a job

    Interesting, I appreciate you Kevin flying on airlines and to destinations that the typical American seldom fly to...or dare not to, for personal, political or some other reasons. But you showing that people elsewhere aren't what many imagine with their pre-conceived notions, certainly helps, if breaking down our prejudices makes the world just a little bit better. But as you hinted, Pakistan civil aviation does have to deal with a lot of issues, from corruption, to subpar safety and bureaucracy. Did you notice any improvement in those areas?

    • @tfft
      @tfft  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hard to speak to improvement as this was my first time in Pakistan, but the experience overall from the passenger experience was absolutely no different from what you’d find in any other developing country.
