I really like these flight reviews. Not only are they very good and informative, but Dennis just seems like such a lovely and nice guy. Like how can you not like this when you got a guy like Dennis doing it.
Your comments go for the rest of his family and his company. Quite by chance I bumped into Dennis's Mum on Cradle Mountain in Tasmania where she was leading a tour group. Delightful lady and we had a great chat about Dennis, Bunnik tours and the weather. I've done 4 trips with Bunnik tours and can't speak highly enough about the organisation and staff that I dealt with. Love the flight reviews as well!
I am really enjoying myself watching travel videos from Dennis. He tried to see things from the brighter side of everything. Kudos for another great video Dennis.
I flew a few times on Turkish Airlines business class between Europe and South-east Asia and I have to say, that I enjoyed every single flight very much. The old seat configuration 2+2+2 on the A330, although outdated and showing signs of age, is actually my favourite. The lack of privacy is a trade-off that I am willing to accept in exchange for the extra room for my long legs and big feet. The only main concern about flying with Turkish is their food, as I regularly end up eating way too much 😄
Yes, would love you to do more of the "Total Journey" video's. Coming from Australia into the northern hemisphere always entails multiple flights. Thank you for a great video, very insightful at a time I am planning Australia - Spain and back in 2026
Not always multiple flights. There are non stop flights between Perth and Europe and between Australian east coast cities and the US west coast. At present Perth to Europe might have a refuelling stop in Singapore because of a detour around trouble spots in the Middle East but returning to Perth is non stop helped by the tail winds.
Great video Dennis, I'd love to see more of these full journey videos! I like the concept of exploring alternate options vs. the well-established long haul carriers. Only paying 50% the cost while still getting 80% of the quality, that's a really cool concept to explore, even with the sacrifice of a bit longer journey time! If travelers are more informed about these options, it could encourage more competition between airlines (which is always a good thing).
Ah, Dennis, I appreciate that flying business class from Australia is a privilege and that finding a cheaper option can mean more complexity and I am glad that it all worked out for you. From experience, getting to Barcelona from Melbourne ( some years ago) meant B 787 route with Qantas direct to LHR and a ' shuttle' to Barcelona with BA. Absolutely no regret with a homeward flight from Bukarest via LHR with B A and direct to Melb., via Perth . Happy to see that Bunnik is booming, paying off all your hard work( good Dutch entrepreneurship) Cheers and congratulations- big hopes for 2025,!
Thanks again for another great post Dennis. Having flown 17 international flights this year on my bucket list adventures , half in BC , I agree that Turkish Airlines are excellent and about to become a major player in the Australian market. I thank you for your many tips ( especially the RTW ticket with SA. ) and wish you and your family a very merry Xmas . p.s met a couple from Adelaide in Santiago Chile who had just finished a Bunnick tour of Patagonia and were blown away.
A very good total journey video Dennis and relatable travelling as a couple as many of us do for preference. Your relaxed, if slightly longer, journey certainly justifies the choice of a much cheaper fare. I've only once flown business class as the result of an unexpected upgrade by BA. If I fly "business" again it might be Air AsiaX Premium Flatbed. That gives you much of the comfort of Business Class without much of the cost.
Great review Dennis and great value! Appreciated you probably had status to get into other lounges but you went with what the ticket allowed, creds to you mate!
Another fun positive video, Dennis, thanks as always, for creating such positive content. I do think the entire trip videos are a little bit different and add something fun to your content as well .
Always nice to see you and your lovely wife. Great video as usual. Thanks Dennis. Wishing you and your family the happiest Christmas Ever!. Cheers mate, Colin!
I love these Total Travel videos. A saving of $2,500-5000 is definitely worth it provided what you do fly is acceptable - which it seemed to be. Dennis flying Turkish - I was expecting the line "the best trays for business passengers are on another airline".
For your info, "Selamat Datang" means Welcome. It gets funny when you say "Selamat Datang" back to the flight attendant. Good way to respond would be a Thanks, or "Terima Kasih".
Great to have the reviews back Dennis! I definitely enjoy the longer reviews but I think a mixture of both multi sector and point to point trips is the best. We've had some amazing MH experiences from LHR to various destinations across East Asia pre pandemic but after being let down very badly a couple of times lately, I don't think we would consider using them again until the reliability and hard product improve. Never had anything other than great experiences with the MH staff though - always a pleasure. I use TK a lot to shuttle back and forth from LHR to IST and both the Y and J products on that route are without doubt the best on offer... however the J fares often don't justify spending the extra (although I do love the 2-2 on a narrow body as a treat sometimes). I'm afraid I don't like IST at all though, the 3rd party lounge is very poor and city connectivity is also bad - haven't yet tried the metro link which is now open though, so that might improve getting away from the airport as quickly as possible :D Thanks for the reviews!
Interesting video! Hopefully TK are flying a newer product into Australia? 32hrs and a fairly average product don't make this option too attractive. That's a long layover in KUL too. I'm flying SYD-MAD in April next year with QF/AY and from memory that was $8.0K and much newer product.
Another great video Dennis. I’m keen on the whole journey videos. I’m in NZ so have an even longer journey to Europe. I have flown Malaysian Airlines prior to the plane getting hit (.on that route) and I found them to be excellent. Because of the extra time from NZ I don’t think I would do this trip although the cheaper price is certainly inviting.
Welcome back Dennis! We sure have missed you (nice to see Mrs Bunnik too 😁). This is an excellent review, but I do note that there has been some movement in business class flight costs on some of the more premium carriers. I spotted a good deal with Etihad the other day (about $7.5k return to Europe), and surprisingly with Qatar (a smidge over $8k). I'm hoping this means more capacity is coming online so prices are getting a tad more competitive. With that in mind, my personal approach now is to go less often, and stump up for Qatar/Emirates/Etihad. Happy travels!
Total flight reviews are good in that they enable people to see what the transit situation is like. If you have long layovers it can make a big difference as to how pleasant it can be.
I've definitely been looking at these carriers for Europe. I think we're too old to suffer economy for that trip and if we get a lie flat bed so we can sleep and decent food we'd probably be happy. Lounge access and the other perks are a nice bonus. Istanbul airport has definitely improved in 10 years. Thanks you you and Julie.
Great to see you back Dennis and nice to see you sharing you adventures with your wife :) I'm based in Sweden just recently flew TK for the first time due to Amex vouchers about to expire and SAS leaving *A and it was a great experience. I fully agree that TK is one of the ew airlines who operates a hub system in Europe that do have a very similar US "first class" in Europe. A few others did have wide body planes on some EU routes (AY had that from HEL-LON for example) and their network is excellent. Latley QR have been quite aggressive on their pricing, I managed to get a business class ticket for 1400 euro ARN-BKK 3 months ago, and I got upgraded to first class on the DOH-BKK leg - thats quite amazing to fly first class on the A380 for 1400 euro.. :) (Didn't get upgraded on the return however well well)
Thanks. Would love to try AY again. Problem with the European carriers is on their narrow body aircraft - generally their wide body stuff is excellent but only flown on a few internal European routes. Sadly from Australia QR has been an expensive option post-covid due to high demand and limited slots pushing up pricing. Great win on that first class upgrade!
I’ve flown Turkish a few times and found them consistently good - with the intended non-stop from Sydney coming it will be fantastic - with regard to the fares - as a past travel agent I always fly ex CGK to Barcelona with the J. CLass fares being A $3300 return - I usually try and use points on QF to CGK currently 120,000 in J - it’s a great fare and easy really - QR/EY are about the same fares ex CGK as well depending on season -great video - thanks
Great flight review and definitely this business class travel multiple flights is worth it if it's not a business trip as where you'd have to get to your destination ASAP. And then you do have access to the lounges where you can basically rest up and eat good food sort of. Price is definitely the winner here 2 to 5 thousand dollars saving well worth it.
privacywise the old style Turkish product isn't a gamechanger, but I found their seat incredible to lay on my side and sleep in. Had such a good kip there from india back to turkey on my last tour there.
We recently travelled from Melbourne to Kuala Lumpur return. The staff abd service were great. Agreed that the online entertainment could be better and the best seats are the throne or middle sections.
Good to see another video from Dennis. Turkish airlines do have at least one plane in service that uses the typical "European business class" seat - an Economy class with the middle seat blocked off. I was stuck on it for my very first business class flight from LHR to IST pre covid. Don't know if that jewel is still in service.
Another great review Dennis I to love Malaysia Airlines. I just love all the reviews that you do whether direct or a combine journey. Thank you for sharing Wishing you all A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and all good wishes for 2025.
Turkish has a great selection of smaller regional European cities making it easy to connect in one direct line rather than backtracking. For example Bari in Puglia is 2 stops from Sydney and in 12 months 1 stop. Amazing.
Nice video, I would say price difference compared to Emirates or Qatar is big and Emirates are also inconsistent in their hard products since 777 is still 2-3-2, but Turkish Airlines 777 hard product seems really dated, but I know they they have A350s now and they are refurbishing and soft product seems good, but for difference of 2 - 3k Euro I would still say its a good deal and Malaysian Airlines seemed really nice for 6 hours flight.
I did virtually the same flight in September, from Sydney to kuala lumpur then to Istanbul. Really enjoyed the MA flight but the Turkish airways flight was definitely better. All my TA flights were on the A350-900 which is updated and very nice, had the window seat to myself row 6K and 1A on way home. Flying to Europe in April on Emirates business class, can’t wait.
We flew Turkish airlines business class last year from Vancouver to Sri Lanka. We loved it and the food service was outstanding. Only drawback was our layovers….way too short and that airport is massive. Lots of full on sprints! Now I won’t let anyone book flights for me, I want a three hour, or more, layover.
The 777 and 333 "old" seats are the same from memory and I found them comfortable. The new seats are the same as those on the SQ regional fleet and these are pretty cramped for most people.
No, couldn’t think of anything worse, than a cabin smelling of satay!! While 2k cheaper is a big saving, ( the price of an economy return) you can see that difference from the market leaders, older design , tech and ife screen. The departure lounge and gate to gate service. Is the difference. With a 6 hour layover, and the various transfer between terminals seems very clunky. Turkish product looks very plain. I know the flat bed is the biggest benefit, but can’t see the value in these offerings. 9 hours of layover is costly as well. Locker configuration is also a good thing to know, the space for baggage and your weight allowance. The final flight looked the best and BCN airport is a massive one, but flows well. A great place to regroup after such a trip. Awesome city. A great insight video ,just my 2 cents.
I flew on Malaysia and Turkish airlines in September this year to Madrid. Two days before I left Malaysia cancelled my flight and rebooked me on a 2 am flight with the 24 hour layover in Malaysia . My travel agent was fantastic and was able to negotiate Another airline in which I ended up flying Singapore. Superb. I found the older airplane from Singapore to Istanbul terrible the seats were uncomfortable. On my return flight I had the newer plane and a single seat on Turkish Airlines in a 1 2 1. the Malaysian leg from Kuala Lumpur to Melbourne was okay. I paid a similar price and it was 31 hrs from Melbourne
While I personally found Turkish Airlines' business class seats on the 777 to be very outdated (and narrow in a flat position), the price you paid for return airfare is very good. I would have booked it, too.
I would love to see alternative ways to get to common destinations in a cheaper than normal way with less well known airlines. How to add 1-2 day layovers etc so you enjoy the journey rather than think you are 'just travelling'.
You made the journey Dennis. I think you are best placed to tell whether or not it was worth it - but you never did. Instead you asked us what we thought
Phenomenal trip report Dennis!! Side note, with Emirates, you always run the risk of getting a 777 with the same issues as the Turkish one. And for Qatar, lower yield Europe routes sometimes get A321s :(
I usually fly London to Auckland with Emirates, next April I am going with Turkish. You have to go via Hong Kong where you change onto Air New Zealand but at half the price it was a no brainer . They are rolling their new 777 business cabin from January so I may even strike lucky
My biggest issue with the Turkish airlines lounge in Istanbul, is that in summer, it gets SUPER hot because it’s basically just an open area in the terminal. I also find it too large and it’s very difficult to find a more private space.
Interesting lounge encounter in KLIA. We flew the same flight route from Mel - KUL - IST return but we booked via Malaysia airlines; coshare with Turkish airlines. On arrival to KLIA, we could use the MAS business lounge, instead of our usual one world emerald access
I believe he was on a TK ticket. If you book via MH and on a MH ticket then you can use their lounges. MH do not have a code share deal to BCN with TK.
I would prefer a faster flight in economy class, personally. With a stopover in each direction. It is still vastly cheaper than the pointy end of the aircraft, even with the hotel and (if needed) extra taxi fares factored in. Thank you for the video!
TK does good fares out of Adelaide - with some as low as $6K in business. I did the mixed class from Porto to Melbourne via IST and KUL (with KUL-MEL on MH). One other trap if doing this - if the MH leg is on a Turkish codeshare you can only book points on the MH leg to Turkish's own program.
I have it on good authority that Malaysian Airlines flights from Adelaide to KL are their older and dated planes. It’s only flights to Middle East, US or Europe that their new fleet is used. Disappointing that we only get hand me downs in Adelaide.
My favourite flight reviews are back
I really like these flight reviews. Not only are they very good and informative, but Dennis just seems like such a lovely and nice guy. Like how can you not like this when you got a guy like Dennis doing it.

We recently flew business Malaysia Airlines Sydney to London return. They were great, crew were lovely, food mostly very good.
Singapore Airlines always, you can never go wrong, consistently great.👏👏👏👍👍👍
I am really enjoying myself watching travel videos from Dennis. He tried to see things from the brighter side of everything. Kudos for another great video Dennis.
I love MH. My fave. Never had a problem

That's the trouble with Turkish food. Malaysian too.

Well done, that wouldn't come cheap
@JJ-vy2rh mostly 10 years of accumulated points.
Dennis, thanks for all of your reviews I really appreciate the information you give us in whatever form.
11:25 Will the Dennis Bunnik vs tray table be available as a Pay Per View?
Forget FURY vs USYK, I’m more interested in TRAY vs BUNNIK 😂
Done the similar journey from Perth to Manchester via KL and IST worth every cent compared to paying 10 to 15k for saving a few hours.👍🇬🇧🇦🇺
I can’t believe it! I just subscribed to your channel while looking for reviews from Australia to Spain, thanks!!! ❤
Love your work, Dennis. Can't agree more how magical a shower is after a long flight.
Satay overload. Yum! Enjoyed the total journey review, so more please.
Enjoyed whole trip video over shorter routes; most of us transit anyways and this gives the whole picture
33h wow, you are quite the trooper! More of such total journeys pls, this is great!
I like the total journey style most! Wife and I planning Syd/Berlin in April and that combo would work well. Thanks for another great video.
Love your videos Dennis (and wife)! They are always very eloquent. You’d be great to travel with! Happy Holidays to you guys!
Great way to start a day, fresh pot of coffee and a new video from Dennis, LIFE IS GREAT! 😃

I do think the entire trip videos are a little bit different and add something fun to your content as well .
Thanks mate, really appreciate the support
Great Video! At the end of the day you get what you pay for (usually!) and everyone has different priorities.
I love the total journey format.
Great to see you back!
Thank you, it feels good to finally get another video out.
Awesome review! I actually saw you in transit at KLIA, but you seemed preoccupied trying to find your next gate. Hope to see you again in the future!
Love these videos! Keep em up!
welcome back! missed your videos
great video Dennis been missing your videos cant wait for the next one
Always nice to see you and your lovely wife. Great video as usual. Thanks Dennis. Wishing you and your family the happiest Christmas Ever!. Cheers mate, Colin!
Total journey reviews are fabulous
Very interesting. Shall consider Turkish airlines. Thanks so much .

Nice video again mate
For your info, "Selamat Datang" means Welcome. It gets funny when you say "Selamat Datang" back to the flight attendant. Good way to respond would be a Thanks, or "Terima Kasih".
😂😂😂 yes of course - didn't even realise at the time!
So the key to youthful looks is sleeping where possible - great content as always mate.
Great to have the reviews back Dennis! I definitely enjoy the longer reviews but I think a mixture of both multi sector and point to point trips is the best.

Finnair A350? I love that business class design it's different but looks cozy
Great review. Love the full flight vids.
I think you should continue with your Total Journey video's!
They make you stand out from the crowd of other flight reviewers!
I have missed your videos ! Awesome trip loved the video thank you 🙏

I just love all the reviews that you do whether direct or a combine journey.
Thank you for sharing
Wishing you all A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and all good wishes for 2025.
Thank you - all the best for a brilliant christmas and a great new year.
Wow Malaysia Airlines aircraft painted in “heritage” colour and logo at KLIA!
I like these reviews as I will retire in 18 months so time won’t be an issue. Therefore I could do stopovers at each
Great video

almost did a similar trip myself, but to Porto. Ended up flying Emirates instead. Love the Plaza Premium in Adelaide😍
When Dennis said “ Adelaide”, I was thinking “ you should have asked Jayden” 😄
Haha, the same beer-automat we had 20 years ago at a stop at ICN, a good chance, to have a second one 😂
Thanks for the video Dennis
The Turkish airlines pre flight drinks are delicious!
We flew Turkish airlines business class last year from Vancouver to Sri Lanka. We loved it and the food service was outstanding. security check at gates is absolutly bananas lol

Good video Koning
Nice review. I’ve been on both airlines in business and seemingly nothings changed in 5 years.. at 33 hours I’m tired after just watching..
I flew on Malaysia and Turkish airlines in September this year to Madrid. Two days before I left Malaysia cancelled my flight and rebooked me on a 2 am flight with the 24 hour layover in Malaysia . While I personally found Turkish Airlines' business class seats on the 777 to be very outdated (and narrow in a flat position), the price you paid for return airfare is very good. I would have booked it, too.
Why doesn't your company offer tours of China? I love your flight reviews. Always informative and entertaining.
Not sure about Malaysia but interesting to see what Turkish airlines are like.
And for Qatar, lower yield Europe routes sometimes get A321s :(
Thanks, yes really good point re EK and QR
A fantastic trip report as always! Do you think you'll be trying Turkish's fifth freedom flights to Australia anytime soon?
I usually fly London to Auckland with Emirates, next April I am going with Turkish. You have to go via Hong Kong where you change onto Air New Zealand but at half the price it was a no brainer . They are rolling their new 777 business cabin from January so I may even strike lucky
My biggest issue with the Turkish airlines lounge in Istanbul, is that in summer, it gets SUPER hot because it’s basically just an open area in the terminal. I also find it too large and it’s very difficult to find a more private space.
Thanks mate, really appreciate it
The idea of being served a plate of cheese after a nap is worth the fare alone.
I see the menu for KUL-IST and the crappy KUL caterer hasn't changed much!
@ it makes sense. 👍🏻
Good one, Dennis.
I've lost track: which airline would you choose between London and Sydney?
Anything but BA.
