    We traded our 2010 CX-9 GT in for a 2021 Sport lease. Then 18 months later we traded the lease in for a 2020 Touring with premium pkg. The standard safety features are a bonus but we wanted the captains chairs and power lift gate. I think this is the best trim to get. You miss out on the 360 camera, heated wheel & cooled seats though... Our family of four fits well in it, with plenty of room to spare. The quality and reliability are top notch too. It compliments my 2016 6 GT well.

    • @clintsmith3460
      @clintsmith3460 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@br-ig3pr It is night and day. My 2016 M6 is really loud and the CX-9 is like a Lexus. OK, it's not that quiet but it is high-end feeling. The CX-5 is quiet too. I had one for a loaner for some work I had done and it was nice. Currently in the process of putting sound deadening in my M6. Love the car but the road and wind noise are bad...

    Handling note: When I drove the Pilot, Acadia, Santa Fe, Highlander, and the CX-9 - The CX-9 was the ONLY SUV I drove which wasn’t flustered by a nasty expansion joint on a sweeping turn at 50 mph… All the other SUVs were out of shape, jumped half a lane over, the CX-9 hit the bump and stayed on line like a sedan…

    I just completed a Chicago to Nashville trip (8hr ride each way) with my family (2 kids). I have the 2021 Carbon edition. Im super happy about the car. It drives so smooth and has perfect overtaking power (turbo def helps). It is not underpowered, it does the job just fine and with basic 87 octane gas ( only has to fill it once) . Steering and handling is phenomenal (nothing less from mazda) I was hitting 110 and not even vibrating a bit. Likewise i was in a porsche cayenne (newer model) and that has more plastic inside and stiffer ride. Ive been a mazda owner since 323F series, than a Mx5, mazda3 and now Cx9. People that own mazdas just know why there is a loyal following. Its a drivers car.

    We love our 2019 CX9 signature. Waiting for the next gen to see if it's worth an upgrade. Everything about the car feels solid and high quality. Biggest issue has been the infotainment system, the gen we have is laggy and sometimes refuses to accept Android auto or car play. No sure if unlucky of bad glass but over 3 years we've had to replace the front windshield twice, both Mazda OEM glass. Luckily covered by insurance glass coverage otherwise it was $900+ per replacement.

      i went with the highlander hybrid for the mpgs and reliability. the key to it for me is reliability, i dont have to worry about it at all. my parents have a 17 hyundai and already had to have things fixed, on top of that there are all the engine issues they have a history of that i just cant trust. sure the engine is a touch loud and not a good sounding loud at that, but i know it wont thunk rattle or otherwise kamakazi any time soon so its great to me

    The CX-9 is being replaced by the 2024 CX-90 (and more narrow CX-80 in some markets). I would imagine the CX-90 is going to incorporate a lot of styling and other touches from the CX-50 and it will be larger than the CX-9. It's also going to have a Toyota Rav 4 Prime style PHEV system which will likely make over 320 HP and get around 30 mpg.
    I have a 2021 CX-9 GT and I really like it, except for the MPG. I picked it over an Audi.

    • @MrG0olden

      CX-90 will most likely look like the CX-60 but longer and wider, PHEV-system could also be in-house, like with the CX-60 but tuned for the American market (so more hp and perhaps bigger range)

    There is an option you can enable in the infotainment to lock the car everytime you walk away from it with the keyfob in your pocket. That can resolve the issue you had with waiting for the trunk to close and then lock the car using the button.

    Mazda def goes a great job with their packages. You never feel like they're leaving something out intentionally to for you intro upgrading trim levels. In Canada, GS-L trim is $45k, and you still get good 20" wheels, leather, heated seats/steering wheel, power tailgate; just not any of the tech stuff. It's pretty much the same price as comparable CX-5 at these lower trims.

  • @QuantumImperfections
    @QuantumImperfections 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    TL;DR - Most of the stats / mechanics are adequate but it's a beautiful / high quality vehicle. Definitely worth the money (I find the Grand Touring is best bang-for-buck trim).
    I own the 2021 CX-9 Grand Touring - I love this thing. It's exactly what me and the wife needed. No kids - 2 cats and family across the tri-state area (500mi drives one way for holidays). I'd say this thing is perfect for any young / middle aged professional under 6'1".
    I went with the captain's chairs W/O the center console in 2nd row BECAUSE the third row is a bit claustrophobic unless everyone adjusts "as if they care about the person behind them". Which is an apt way to describe it. The Bose sound system is "okay". Very mid-heavy but just enough treble and bass to be interesting-enough. It's not a fast vehicle but peppy enough to not be boring. What I love the most is the nice interior for the price.

    Competition 13:20 a few factors to consider:
    Cx9 is still made and assembled in Japan. In the 'engineer's dream factory', shoutout to the amazing Automotive Press video.
    Toyota Highlander and Honda Pilot would be the only alternatives in my book, but I'm biased to getting Mazda in too many ways.
    Huyndai and Kia should be boycotted by customers for a few years - ridiculous amount of recalls and safety issues... just don't buy them. On a positive note, their rims are a perfect match for my Mazdas! great for winter sets and downsizing from 19" to 17". Thank you FB marketplace

      The new cx90 will be wider. The old vehicles could not be made wider due to limitations in their Japanese factory, it was designed with tight Japanese streets in mind, the new plant in the US was specifically designed to fix this issue in North America as that is one of their most consistent complaints.

    I just bought a 2020 model 3 weeks ago. I'm actually glad I didn't get anything bigger, as I wouldn't use the extra space the vast majority of the time. We considered an MDX and a Pilot since the Telluride is currently overpriced with markups. Used Models were some of the best priced since they are not as popular as I think they should be. My kids fit well in the back, and the third row would only be used in fringe cases. Regarding Space, I'm 5'8" and my wife is 5'2". We have plenty of room. No minivans for this family either! When shopping for a new CUV earlier this year the CX9 was at the top of my list. We’ve had a Mazda6 in the past and replaced that in 2016 with a CX5 that we still have and they’ve both been great. Unfortunately, the CX9 doesn’t have near enough space in the drivers seat for me at 6’3. My right knee had no room and since this was going to be our primary family vehicle used for cross country road trips and my 55 mile round trip commutes, it just wasn’t going to work. Bummer.

    Traded my 2017 cx5 for a 2018 CX-9 and don't see me leaving Mazda anytime soon. Love these cars and the CX90 is calling my name like a mf

    The Mazda Connect Remote Start is so annoying that it turns the engine off as soon as you open the drivers door.. If you're unlocking the doors via the door handle button, it should know the key fob is with you. It should be smart enough to transfer over to keyfob so you don't need to restart.
    Would MUCH rather have old school remote start if possible.

    I paid off my 2016 CX-5 Grand Touring, so it's nice not having a car note. 135,000 miles and still nice and runs great! I hear they can go 300,000 to 400,000mi. I just bought a 2023 CX-9 carbon edition due to great deal, paid invoice price & Mazda loyalty $500 off & 0% interest from Mazda Finance, Man what a beautiful car! I KEPT my CX-5 also, Love that thing! Why not? It still has 200K miles to go, I'll let my Son & Dad use it. P.S. I also hear the CX-9 is a better car and better deal than the 2023 Toyota Highlander from the Car Review Folks. Front grill looks good, Great White Shark on the road, so move out the way, fools or you'll get eaten up! lol, kidding. Great choice Mazda, Reliable Japanese car, retain their value, high quality beautiful car and big bang for your buck and extremely fun to drive all of them. I've had nothing but Mazda's now since 2007 and I have watched the company grow and their cars have just gotten better and better with age like a fine wine.

    We are on our second CX-9. We love it. I’m 6’3 and fit completely fine. My only complaint is where my left leg rests on the door. Kinda hurts the knee if you are on a trip.

    I'm a Mazda guy, I'm on number 6 right now in a CE turbo CX5. However, I think the highlander and the new Pilot are the ones to get in segment right meow. The cx9 is just a bit too small for what it is. Definitely the best driving and the nicest interior, but if I'm going to go with a small building to drive, I want something with a usable 3rd row, and the cx9s just isn't. CX90 seems to solve all of this so I'll gladly wait and see

    • @yournightmare9999

      @@yournightmare9999 space wise, I don't agree. Especially the current gen highlander. I felt that I had much more room available. Nice wise, yes the materials used with Mazda are almost always better than Toyota

    I’m on the fence about getting one of these but want to hold out for the CX-90. Also, I’m 6’3” and ABSOLUTELY HATE that my knee hits the center console. It’s my only negative, but it’s a huge one.

    Wanted one, went to three Mazda dealerships in the GTA and every single sales rep treated me like a f*cking child. Had the same issue at Audi, trying to purchase a used S5, and at Kia trying to buy a used Kia Stinger. Bought a '23 Subaru Outback Wilderness instead.
