    WORKS !! - SEPTEMBER 2018 procedure. Followed the process line-by-line and now my 55" LG "LW" series 3D HDTV is reborn !! The smell from the baking lingered for a day but it is a small price to pay for fixing a $1400 TV for FREE !! Thanks for posting

    I found a 65" LG TV on the street with a note " Audio Not working". I brought it home, removed the main board and put it in the Oven at 200 for 10 mins . Put the board back and AUDIO started working again. IT WORKS :) and now i have a spare TV

    I've recently fixed ours using a variation of this method. I didn't like the idea of heating the whole board, so I removed the heatsink, masked the surrounding components using foil and Kapton tape, and then suspended a 50W G10 halogen lamp about 1cm above the CPU, with a layer of foil underneath the board. I monitored the temperature using an oven thermometer to ensure that it reached 200 degC (392 degF) and maintained this temperature for about 12 minutes. I had a used eBay replacement board on order, so I had nothing to lose, but was very happy to find that it worked. It's only been about 12 days, but it's still working fine.
    I have not tested the replacement board yet, but it's good to have it as insurance.

    Aug. 2019 - Now my third time baking the LG motherboard and the picture is still incredible. Baked it the first time in Oct. 2015, second time was Dec. 2018...so I have essentially got 4 years out of this process. My tv was of no use when this first happened and I was worried but gave it a shot...so happy I was willing to try this "home remedy". If your tv is now in a useless condition because of this problem (hdmi not working)...go for it!!!

My LG 55 inch first went down in Oct. 2015 for the first time and I got just over three years on the first bake, so here we go again. The tv is in perfect condition and the picture is still great...what a $$$ saver...awesome!

    I did this last night. do it at 392 F (200 C) for 10 minutes. let it cool for 30 minutes with the oven off and oven door open. then move it to the kitchen counter and let it cool some more for 30 minutes. *now to prevent any smells first make a pouch out of parchment paper, place the board in the pouch, and staple the open ends closed. then make a pouch out of aluminum foil, place the board in the parchment paper into the aluminum pouch, and fold the open ends of the aluminum several times to make it air tight. do not open the pouches in the house after the board has baked and cooled.* I went to my garage to get the board out of the pouches. there were exactly no fumes or smells while I did any of this because of the aluminum pouch being sealed by the folds and opening the pouches in my garage. once installed, the board has been working ever since.

    This process does usually work 9 out of 10 times but isn't a permanent fix. They will last anywhere from 1 week to a month if you're lucky. One thing I've found out is that if you do the heating process right and have the mother board placed right that it makes a huge difference in the life of it. If you place the mother board on a baking sheet flat with the 3 or 4 rubber studs facing upwards, this allows the solder to melt back down onto the pins rather than melt away from it. I bake mine at 400 F for 30 minutes with the oven preheated and then I turn it off and open the oven door slightly and let the board cool off slowly for about 45 minutes to an hour. My LG has worked now for over 1 year doing it like this.

    We almost went the route of baking the module, but I came across a post that said to turn off the TV and the set-top box, remove the power source for at least 15 minutes for both, discharge the power button by pressing it and leaving it alone. After 15 min approximately, I replugged both the set-top box and the TV into the electricity socket. Turned on both STB & TV. I believe ATT U-verse had to cycle through... then voilà, the sound was back! This happened a second time and I went through the same process, and again it worked! So glad I didn't bake the module.

    While im waiting on a mainboard for a 55inch led LG board to cool ill write this....I have a repair shop and trust me this works on many components in tvs. I give the customer the option if the new or used part is to pricey. 15 bucks to figure out the problem and 10 bucks to bake and test for 3 hours if it works add 15 bucks for everything else and it comes with a 30 day waranty if it works. 40 bucks for a fix and waranty So far 4 years of doing this and i havent had one come back. Knock on wood! Its a 50/50 shot it works and my recipe is 11mins at 385 turn up to 400 for 6mins cool for 5mins then the Cooling fan for 10 mins with install gently while its partially warm. Bingo! Oh always a good idea to wait atleast 3 mins when you plug in power cord to energize the compactors. Well the main board works on the 55 led Lg now ill run it all night for testing.now time to go install a buffer board on a 50inch lg in my other shop and see if it worked. Good luck all

    To prevent it happening again, never ake out the power cord while not in
    use, let it be in standby mode always! I found out that the board stops
    working when it has been left in a cold (below 10' Celsius) room for a
    week or so without the power cord attached. So, never unplug the power
    cord (tv, blu-ray surround etc). I`m baking my
    board for 2 time now. Lesson learnd.
    EDIT: Last time it lasted for 3 years, and it also worked today!

    So, second attempt was successful but not 100%. I've lost functionality of all but 1 HDMI port, there are 4 on this model.. I believe that reflowing the solder multiple times also makes it brittle. I'm happy to have gotten another year's worth of service from this TV. This last HDMI port is starting to show signs of failing. Audible static and partial snow on the video signal are sometimes evident. Turning the TV off for several minutes allows the board to cool down and then the signals return to normal. I will buy a new TV when I lose this last HDMI port. If you are trying this fix for the first time, go for it! I got a year and a half of service from my first attempt. Good fix.

      Needs to be around 400 degrees. I use solder flux under chips, wrap up all but chips (without heat sinks) with tinfoil and foil tape, heat the mobo propped up 1/4 inch on a griddle, heat gun the chips till the flux rapidly boils out from under the chips, and slowly cool down 50 degrees at a time over 25-30 minutes. Then let the mobo sit for an hour. Don't ever budge a hot mobo. Put a thin layer of artic silver thermal paste on the chips before puting back heat sinks. The flux and slow cool down are essential for a good solder bond. A good solder reflow like this will increase chances of a fixing it to last and flux is cheap. This is how I fixed many Xbox 360's to last.

    This worked for my LG 47LV5500. The symptoms the TV was having was it would work for a few minutes then turn off and on and on and off. I decided to unplug the TV for 30 mins then plug back in... now the TV would not properly work at all, black screen with only the power white light. After a few google and TH-cam searches I found the baking oven main board method which worked! @ 380 degrees for 10 minutes. Couldn't be any happy.

    seems they use cheap tin-solder in China, everything cost-efficient. And after some time these soldered joints brittle. Of course, mysteriously this always happens when the term of guarantee has expired.

    My tv LG 42LE8500, made in 09/2010 stopped work. The led of power on/of, source,volume up/down, channel next/previous were working but no picture, no logo, no sound. Just a blank screen. I searched in internet and i saw videos and tutorials like this. I thought all these information was wrong and I will destroy my tv if I try it. They all say the same think: bake the motherboard of your tv for 200 degrees of celsius for 10 minutes. I call to a tv technician΄. He explained me that repairing cost will be almost 100 euros. I say ok. But it was far away from my home. I have not to much time to travel so long for a tv. So i decided to try this ΄΄crazy΄΄ method. I remove th back cover of my tv, then i removed then connections carefully from motherboard' they have different ways of connections. I preheated my electric oven at 200 degees of Celsius for 15 minutes. I put the motherboard on a cardbox in my oven. I baked it for 11 minutes at 200 degrees. Then i put out from the oven the card box and i left it to cool for 20 minutes. I have to say there is a smell like burned electronics. All the windows WERE open and this smell soon gone away.
    Then I put the motherboard back in my tv. And then i connect the electricity. I press the powen on and ... voila!!! The logo of Lg ant then the appearance of screen saver. My tv was workIng again. Many thanks to all people of Republic of Internet

    • @charlytorres5132

    • @srdjanbogunovic2277
      @srdjanbogunovic2277 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're probably right..well ..I got pretty bummed out when it died second time , both times I think I had let it cool down (drank couple of beers in meantime :-) ...so I don't know at this point how much will it hold ..all I know I really like this TV , it got really good picture , nice design , solid 3D ...biggest problem is that I bought this tv used , and I don't know if it was already baked couple of times before I did it...also I was talking to a repairman who told me that when it dies first time it is important to do "reballing" properly ...even then he could not give a guarantee larger than 6 months - 1 year ... other option is to order mainboard from China but i have searched all the internet and found nothing ...so fingers crossed :-) You know ...even if it fails it was cool to do this thing , and see it work ...even funnier to see the expression on people faces when i told them how I repaired TV ..They were like ..Whhhoaa :D ... but i wouldt even consider it without your vid ...so thanks again buddy .. I watched world cup in soccer , Novak Djokovic winning Wimbledon again ...good times :) ...it can die now ..oven is ready ;DDD

    Does this work for static screen?

    • @charlytorres5132
      @charlytorres5132  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, by "static screen" I'm not clear if you mean static on your screen or a frozen / stationary image on your screen. Regardless, I think this method could help you. When the CPU solder ball connections get loose on the motherboard, they can cause all kinds off issues from video connection issues to numerous image issues. As you can see from other posts here, this method works to resolve more often than not. If you try, we would enjoy hearing back if worked for you or not.
