Great Video. Inspired me to try to fix my LG50PT350. Looks to have almost Identical Boards. The Symptom is that it Clicks to come on and stays on and energized. No Click back off like the one in your video. The Main symptom visually is the screen attempts to light up but all RED. Then it goes blank again. It repeats the red screen then blank over and over. You can power it off with the button to stop this behavior. Turn it back on does the same thing again. Do you have any insight into this?
I have a LG plasma 50PT350 that is not getting any power. Is it worth me finding someone to fix it? I've had it for 9 years and loved it. I don't know if it's worth fixing. Slowly the inputs went out one by one for HDMI but now no power I'm thinking of just getting a bigger one. I'm. Pretty sure it was a storm surge even though it was plugged into a surge. Thanks !
i am among other things a tv repairman although i was out of that a long time ago. i was impressed by your troubleshooting solder rings are not uncommon on any part that gets hot and cold alot, and sometimes you have to look real close to see them as you have found out 80 to 95 % of troubleshooting is visual the creator in the board the legs were a capacitor should be the large ic with the missing middle fire marks on board fire marks on heat sink fiore marks anywhere but in the kitchen the large diameter hole in the motherboard and yes friend of mine actually had that a guy drilled a 1 1/2 inch hole through his xt case the 4 layer motherboard and the bottom of the case so he could install a light and yes he sent it in for warranty repair this stuff happens folks.
Nice! Didnt know that. Yeah hot and cold cycles always seem to loosen something on tvs for sure. People do the craziest things, wonder what the warranty people said lol. 😲🔨😮
Hi Joe, maybe is better to remove first the residual white thermal compound before to apply the arctic silver compound. The less of compound the best it works, the wide ammounts lose thermal efficiency. Congrats for your repair, enjoy this plasma!
So my TV was having this problem where it wouldn't turn on like yours. So I tried testing the heat since mosfets or whatever they are, and it threw a spark, now it doesn't want to turn on at all. What did I do wrong? What setting is my multimeter supposed to be on? I had it on DC

I have the same tv. But my power stays on until i shut it off the screen was somewht flashy with the back ground an it jus lost the picture any advice?
Hey joe, I have this exact tv. I recently moved it to a new house. It switched on, picture was slightly snowy for a while then it turned off. Very hot around the ysus and a loud buzzing. I checked the ysus for cracked solder like you showed with the zsus but nothing wrong. I can’t find a repair kit for the ysus - would buying a replacement board be fine or too risky that it is something else as well? I’ve also been told the power points in this old house may be dodgy but the tv has its own protections against that? Any help appreciated!
AveRage Joe yes I have tightened the screws. Tv will run for about 10 mins with no picture and then switch itself off. I’m not adept at soldering etc but I can replace a board! I recently threw away 2 other tvs and I just don’t want this to go to landfill
My then 2011 top of the range LG Plasma TV finally failed yesterday (nearly 13 years daily operation). I want to try to fix it. Here are the symptoms: about four days ago the TV just switched itself off. When I turned it on there was no screen. I tried to get it going but I could not. The red light near the switch would turn to blue and the noise of switching on was still there (and the noise of switching off). Then I switched the TV from the socket (from the plug) and waited say one hour. Then it would work but after a while switch itself off. Yesterday it worked all day and then suddenly at night it switched itself off. No effort at getting it to go back on gave results. I remember we switched it off for an hour from the socket (from the plug on the wall) and then it came back but only for 5 minutes and switched itself off. So we played some card games to pass the time last night. This morning at 7 am I went down and switched the plug and then it went on and I was watching TV as normal. Then after 5 minutes or so it cut out again and I could not bring it back. What do you think is the problem?
Hey Joe, very instructive and useful video thank you very much. I have the LG 50PZ550-UA which is the 50" model, about 6 months ago the HDMI stopped working and a few weeks ago the sound started to have some issues until the sound is now definitely gone, however, the video still works perfectly. Any recommendation to fix this issue, what chips I would have to change, I tried to find the mainboard but it is out of stock every where. Thanks again.
Thanks Man! Only thing I could suggest is type in the mobo model number online and add sound repair kit or something along those lines. Thats how I usually fix a lot of tvs if there isnt anything obvious.
Hi Joe, my LG pretty much exact the same model as this, just had a stroke down the left side of the screen, I’m wondering if the same part could be the culprit, or would the picture be gone totally ? Great job on this repair, it’s given me some inspiration to open up and take a look.
Thanks for watching! I cant say for sure but Id pull the back panel if you have time and poke around. Plasma tvs can be tricky or overwelming since all the boards but the repair could be as simple as a loose cable or loose ground screw on a board.
Sounds very similar to mine for sure! My tv is still working after replacing the parts. I took the tv to work for the breakroom tv and its on 20hrs a day minus the weekends. Maybe a few hours on weekends. Crazy lol

Awesome video man, I have the same TV, I replaced a faulty powerboard but apparently my main board is also faulty. Got any tips on main board repairs? Or places to get a replacement?
My LG 60" Plasma Zsus board (ebr77185901) put out 4 volts when it should be 18 volts even with the Ysus board is disconnected. Power supply checks out, is there anything I could be missing before I purchase Zsus board???
There is a really cool product called Chip-Kwik that makes desoldering IC's a snap. It is a small quantity of a solder-like alloy that transforms each joint into a low melting point amalgum. The slightest bit of heat melts it and the chips just slide off with no damage. When you want to install a new chip, you have to use solder wick to remove the amalgum, then put fresh solder on all the lands and solderwick that off too. If you don't do this dilution step the slightest heat will melt your new solder.
Hi great video! My question is in regards to the mosfets. Some Y board and power board mosfets also show that they’re grounded. Would they also play a part in ‘no picture’ and also be changed?
Yeah its possible. Also some will show grounded while in the circuit board but once unsoldered will show normal. It does that when some are really bad but I usually replace them anyway since I had them removed.
Thanks! Repair kits can be as cheap or less then $20. If you could find another board for under $100 that would be a win or possibly another tv to take the board from. I like to take things apart and try to do the repair myself as there is more value in it for me. Others just want there tv fixed and I can understand that!👍
I was watching my LG plasma TV Model 4900 the other night when it went black. Sound disappeared as well. As if I had turned it off. The green light on the bottom panel went to red. I tried to turn it on both with the remote and at the panel and the light would not go to green and it would not turn on. I would hear a clicking sound every time I tried to turn it on but nothing. There's power coming from the socket because the cable light turns on. I pulled the plug to the TV hopefully to rest it. When I plugged in the set the next day, the TV kept making the clicking sound repeatedly without my pushing the on button. This is our basement TV. Usually, I don't watch it more than 2-3 hours at night. it's not like it gets a lot of heavy use. A few questions. Does this sound like a power board problem or something else? I am not particularly handy. Does it make sense to get a repair guy to fix it? Any idea on the cost? Or given the cost, should I just replace it? No other problems to date. Thanks.

Besides the beeping, what numbers is the multimeter supposed to display when you're checking the heat sincs? Mine doesn't beep
This video really help me. i was given this same tv to me. i was trying to find out what was wrong with it and my tv was doing the same as in this video. Thanks a lot for the help.
Glad it helped and thanks for watching!
Thanks !
Probly not worth your time to have another try and fix. I just try to fix pretty much anything😀
i am among other things a tv repairman although i was out of that a long time ago. i was impressed by your troubleshooting solder rings are not uncommon on any part that gets hot and cold alot, and sometimes you have to look real close to see them as you have found out 80 to 95 % of troubleshooting is visual the creator in the board the legs were a capacitor should be the large ic with the missing middle fire marks on board fire marks on heat sink fiore marks anywhere but in the kitchen the large diameter hole in the motherboard and yes friend of mine actually had that a guy drilled a 1 1/2 inch hole through his xt case the 4 layer motherboard and the bottom of the case so he could install a light and yes he sent it in for warranty repair this stuff happens folks.
Nice! Didnt know that. Yeah hot and cold cycles always seem to loosen something on tvs for sure. People do the craziest things, wonder what the warranty people said lol. 😲🔨😮
basically no not even not happening no.
Can you recommend where one might get the motherboard for an LG PB5600 60" similar to the green one at 13:26?
Id check shopjimmy.com or ebay. Thats where I get parts and boards!
Nicely Done, did the same to my 60PV450 plus the tiny Resistors...Great fix! ...the need to fix things... 2A571 KC-135R
Thanks! I almost changed everything but felt it wasnt needed. (Edit) I went to tech school for the same! Meow I work at Offutt AFB as a civ on the RC-135's🤘
I'm having a problem with a single vertical line 1 pixel wide from top to bottom on a Samsung pn 64D8000. You had several nice techniques in this video. Have you heard of this particular problem ?
If its a black line its probly fixable. Other color like blue is a dead pixel.
I have the same problem and I can’t fixed I change Everything and still not picture
Fantastic video...thoroughly enjoyed watching this and used this as a guide to fix my LG tv ...clear concise information!! Thanks a million for doing this!!
Thanks Jason! Appreciate that!
Wow, excellent video, very clear, well explained. I see myself watching you, not that pro, but some part of it. Many thanks from Chile.
Thanks for watching!🤘
My TV will not get off setup mode and it's a old plasma TV I have no remote with the TV .
I checked and have no power coming off the power supply. Would you think it’s bad
Hows the fuse and capacitors. Any swollen?
@@AveRage_Joe no they look fine fuses tested fine
I have a Samsung plasma TV t5044 no sound or picture
Help! I touched the service menu. I didn't think I changed anything. How do I (blindly) reset the TV?
Hi can I ask do you have any photos of what MOSFETs gose where. I got a repair kit but took out the wrong components and got them mixed up. I see there is a few different sorts of transistors. Can you help with locations of what ones
Hmm, I try and see if I have extra footage!
DUDE awesome work!!
Thanks Man!⚡👌
my lg 60 plasma tv pictuer abnormal how to fix
Nice Video...!!! Looks like my nephews are getting a brand new TV for Christmas...!!!
How many nephews?😆💥👍

I have a similar 65 inch TV, time to buy some parts....
Much cheaper then taking it in for sure!
I have the same tv. But my power stays on until i shut it off the screen was somewht flashy with the back ground an it jus lost the picture any advice?
I would probly do the same repair I did!
Any help appreciated!
doug broomhall interested also
Did you tighten all the ground screws. Pretty much every screw you can find?
What should I do
Hi Joe, my LG pretty much exact the same model as this, just had a stroke down the left side of the screen, I’m wondering if the same part could be the culprit, or would the picture be gone totally ?
Great job on this repair, it’s given me some inspiration to open up and take a look.
Thanks for watching! I cant say for sure but Id pull the back panel if you have time and poke around. Plasma tvs can be tricky or overwelming since all the boards but the repair could be as simple as a loose cable or loose ground screw on a board.
Can i test the buffer board if it is short or not Using Analog Meter?
Yes you can!
@@AveRage_Joe How?
I have a similar tv. I was moving it and the display just went black. Audio still works and so do inputs just a dead display. Any tips?
Id take the back off and tighten the screws on the boards and reseat ribbon cables.
@@AveRage_Joe Thanks for the advice. I will try this, I could only get a couple of the ribbon cables out the others felt stuck but I'll try again!
Make sure to unclip them first. If they dont come out the just wiggle.
Got a 60PV400-UB and i got like 30 mosfets shorted to ground..... Could that mean something else? Or they all decide to go rogue?
I think they all just decide to go rogue! May have been something as simple as a ground screw slowly backing out due to heat cycles.
@@AveRage_Joe A fuze was blown and I replaced that and also found out some screws were a bit loose, so definetly got to check it again.
Sounds very similar to mine for sure! My tv is still working after replacing the parts. I took the tv to work for the breakroom tv and its on 20hrs a day minus the weekends. Maybe a few hours on weekends. Crazy lol
Ok m8 love u vids found a tv the red light comes on but no sound our picture so took back off and removed a wire and now the red light stays on but iam stuck with it I'm no electrician
Are all the mosfet the same? Could I sub the ones in the link with any broken mosfet on my board. I have the exact model
My plasma 60 inch tv works for video gms through rca jacks but the 2 hdmi input areas are loose and tv won’t connect with hdmi, and the usb for roku also not working,,, any ideas?????
Sounds like you have a main board issue!
Excellent another TV given a new lease of life well done buddy
Thanks Man! I cant say no to the bigger TV's lol😆
Awesome video man, I have the same TV, I replaced a faulty powerboard but apparently my main board is also faulty. Got any tips on main board repairs? Or places to get a replacement?
Sorry for late reply, I would search on internet the model number of the board and add repair kit. Thats how I usually do it!
please help me picture no clear lg 60pv450 plasma tv
My LG 60" Plasma Zsus board (ebr77185901) put out 4 volts when it should be 18 volts even with the Ysus board is disconnected. Power supply checks out, is there anything I could be missing before I purchase Zsus board???
I have an LG 60PV250
ONCE I TURN TV ON I SEE A SMALL FLASH ON RIGHT SIDE OF SCREEN, THERE IS SOUND BUT NO PICTURE.
I have the earlier model than that, a few months older, but same issue. It was working then all of a sudden it just lost video.
Search the model number + repair kit on google and look at some of the kits to see if any match your issue!
One of my Patreons mentioned this as well and seems like a cool idea!👍
Hi great video! My question is in regards to the mosfets. Some Y board and power board mosfets also show that they’re grounded. Would they also play a part in ‘no picture’ and also be changed?
Yeah its possible. Also some will show grounded while in the circuit board but once unsoldered will show normal. It does that when some are really bad but I usually replace them anyway since I had them removed.
Have you used desoldering braid?
Yeah I do use it and it would have worked great to remove the rest of the solder but I ran out lol. Need to get some more for sure!💥🖒
Hello Sir, can u tell me which fuse u used? Maybe send a link?
It came in the repair kit! Link in description.
Great Video! But would been cheaper to just buy another power board?
Thanks! Repair kits can be as cheap or less then $20. If you could find another board for under $100 that would be a win or possibly another tv to take the board from. I like to take things apart and try to do the repair myself as there is more value in it for me. Others just want there tv fixed and I can understand that!👍
We have the exact TV and the picture went out this evening. Where would I take it? Can we send it to you for repair??
It would cost to much to send to me. Find a local repair shop for sure!
Just picked up a 60 inch LG 60PV400 manufacture date 2011
Thanks.
Plasma tv's are tricky to work on. I would say that it sounds like a power supply board issue but its hard to say.

I have a 60'" LG plasma tv 60PS11 no picture only sound.
Z sus board EAX55656301, Y sus board EBR55492901. I CANNOT FIND PARTS KIT ONLINE. CAN YOU HELP.
I have been up working for a awhile so please cut me some slack --- can I just get a complete new board once I isolate the problem -- if so where can i get used or new parts for an LG 60 plasma tv ?? I do not see it ?
Yeah you could do that for sure. Most get parts from ebay or shopjimmy.com
@@AveRage_Joe ok thank you I will give it a try ------- I am a car mechanic fix it all kind of guy cars cell phones stereos etc -- my first crack at a plasma TV --- i used your video to see how to take apart some of those fragile components I had to keep going back to look closely how the plug/fastener/clip from the wire tape was removed ...which helped immensly -- i have it apart now and foound some scorching on oner of teh boards ...it is the one you removed first in your video...so i am going to try taht see how it goes -- thank u so much for responding Average Joe... love the video and communication.
Yeap Im just a knuckle dragger mechanic as well!😆🤘🔧 Do you know what is scorched cause you could most likely just change a few parts similar to what I did and it would be a cheaper fix vs getting a hole board.
What is the model of the G-Tek glove you are using?
I use grey and black but think the grey last longer ebay.to/2XNrddh
hi, I have 50 inch plasma with the exact problem.need the link or ebay seller of the repair kit .

Hello there! I have the same tv with an odd issue that i havent found yet what is causing it! The tv works fine for a couple of minutes then either goes full bright and turns off or flashes until turns off. Any thought what can be?
I think the repair kit I got has the parts in it to fix your issue.
@@AveRage_Joe At the morning it always work. But evening when me and my wife return home from work the tv flashes once and dont want to give that picture for anything in the world. So odd! If it turns on in the morning you can leave it work for days and will keep working.
Yeah I think that is a common problem. The repair kit I used should solve the issue. Im betting its the fets. Some are bad or shorted similar to mine.
Hi I have the same problem I followed all your steps and it did not work
What is the tv doing after repair?
@@AveRage_Joe it is not showing any picture still but now there is a buzzing sound
I have the exact tv. I'm gonna work on my tv.
Next question. How would I add a video app on the tv. Say like photo, music, and video. How do I install that?
Hmmmm Im not sure on that.
It's not a smart TV, but you can get a Roku stick or Amazon TV stick, etc, etc.
@@KCBAIRS Bravo, very smart. (;
Great video dude! Wish you lived here in atlanta so I could pay you to fix mine 😔that’s a Great way to make some extra cash on the side and have fun while doing it.
I have the same tv and every thing is still great except the SOUND goes in and out like every 60 to 90 seconds.
Do you have any suggestions as to what could be the problem to repair?
Thanks
Thanks! Well like I said Im just a mechainc and like to tinker and take stuff apart. As for sound issues, least Id do is take the back off and wiggle all the cables where they connect and also tighten down all the screws that hold the circuit boards. Surprisingly that fixes a lot of tv issues!
Hi, I have same exact TV and it went off while watching. Now after i turn on TV and send chromecast video to it, it does play sound but no picture. Which board should i look into?
Sounds like the same issue mine had. Id check the same board.
I think y-sustain board too
what reading did you get from the bad mosfets, I'm getting a 76.3 etc instead of a 0.477
They should be around .47 or .45, anything other and they are probly bad!
What is the picture quality like on this model?
I think its great except the reflection on the screen. If you have a window behind you or your at that certain angle you see lights ect...
Hello sir, i repaired the same tv and changed everything u did.
Now i got a picture but its darker then it was. Have u got a tip for me?
I would recheck the solder connections on the smaller chips if you replaced any and recheck the mosfets. Occasionally the new mosfets can be bad.
@@AveRage_Joe hey thanks for your answer. I didnt replaced the chips. i will recheck the mosfets with my multimeter! Thanks!
I have this exact same thing. I have sound but no picture. I replaced the main power board ( ordered from Amazon one year ago), it worked except for the HDMI ports, now one year later, no picture, but it has sound. I'm giving up on it soon.
Check out the parts I changed, could be the issue with your tv.
Also many thanks 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 for the video. Best repair video by far!!
Thank you!!!🤘
You've got great skills.
Joe I’m repairing a 65 inch lg tv and the back looks just like yours. I’m trying to figure out the proper settings on the multimeter to check where the short is. Symptoms are tv will stay on for a while then picture shuts off and I have sound. Someone help!,,,,,,
Did you try what I did in the video?
AveRage Joe yes I took off the y board on the right. But no visible burn marks at all.
Id check for shorts like I did!
