    this is beautiful.
Your choir is one of the only choirs that has actually sang this song with feeling.
your conducter is obviously awesome as well.

May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sunshine warm upon your face, the rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again, until we meet again may God hold you in the palm of his hand
May the sun bring your days light
May the stars illuminate your minds.
May the flowers move along your path
Your house stands firm amidst the sun
And until we meet again, until we meet again may God hold you in the palm of his hand (2x)

    It's Filipinos. =)
It's a lovely song. It's not particularly hard, but it has a lot of soul in it and for me, that's what matters in singing a song. =)

Gorgeous music & exquisite & divine performance relating to this song entitled "An Irish Blessing". Please, give us the specific URL which allows ordering your CD on-line, as I did not succeed in finding any purchase link by typing "UST Singers JB-Music Germany" through any search engine. Thank you!

I'm biased as 100% Irish, but for my money, John Rutter has THE definitive rendition of this Celtic Blessing...enjoy!

I hope you can also sing the one arranged by Rainer Lischka.
It's called Irischer Segenswunch (German version)

  • @JatieT
    @JatieT 16 ปีที่แล้ว

    Not quite:
May the *sun shine* warm ...
    and
May the sun *make your days bright*
May the stars illuminate your *nights*
May the flowers *grow* along your path
Your house stand firm *against the storm*

@pjr8888 if only you've just read the description below the video (which i doubt you did), you will understand a photo montage was attached with the recording, if only...
well for your benefit and everyone else i'll repose the video description:
"An Irish Blessing by the UST Singers
A tribute to my colleagues in the UST Singers of batches 2001 and 2002.
An Irish Blessing - An Old Gaelic Prayer taken from the UST Singers' First Double CD Recording under JB-Music Germany in 2002."
    Thanks

May the wind be always at your back.
May the sunshine warm upon your face, the rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until meet again, until we meet again may God hold you in the palm
    and his hand.
May the sun brig your dayslight
    May the stars liuminate yourminds.
May the flowers move allow your pain

This IS the original melody of this arrangement. Too slow and too much vibrato for my taste though...

Roads do not rise to meet one. It's a gross mistranslation from the Irish. The verb 'éirí' means 'to rise' But 'éirí leat' means 'to be successful'. Not the choir's fault, of course. But I found the interpretation too sugary and sentimentalised. And even the beautiful voices don't compensate for that.

  • @pjr8888

a moving choral rendition of this blessing, fatally flawed by the inappropriate foto montage. too bad,
