The UST Singers Batch 2002 performing Elijah Rock by Moses Hogan at the Winner's Concert of the 2002 Festa Musicale International Choral Competition in Olomouc, Czech Republic.
HOLYYYYY CRAP!!! This is a very difficult song to perform with the biggest of choirs!!!!! This small choir not only did this song justice, they absolutely nailed it!
they sing with so much passion and emotion . and that's what makes this soo great. not to mention the musicianship shown in the interpretation of the music and the performing of it
I've watched them sing a bunch of other songs around TH-cam, had no idea they took on Moses Hogan... I love them. Excellent interpretation, especially considering this music and the culture behind it is foreign to them.
Yeah, this is by far the best rendition of this song. Since you liked this, try also MADZ' (Philippine Madrigals) interpretation of We Beheld Once Again the Stars (Rivedere le Stelle) @ European Grand Prix. Another mind-blowing interpretation.
I already heared this song way back from ust singers but wayback i really dont know this song.. and now i know, bumalik akonpara sabhing sobrang ganda ng pag kakaknta! Superb! Dynamics, tonality and harmony!
This group shows the real power of the voice! great! i used to sing in a choir to, but what these people do takes ages to get it so perfect. voices sound like they were born togetter! amazing
I was at an OMEA choir competition last night. My school was singing and I was in one of the choirs. Our acapella group sang this! To really appreciate this song you have to go see it live. Awesome awesome job!!!!!
OK SO THEE MOST AMAZING VERSION OF THIS SONG I'VE EEEEEEVER HEARD...these guys are phenomenal...you just can't find this on youtube very often..what a treat! amazing!!!!!
Now this is a product of very intense singing competitions in schools in the philippines... We might have a very small country but you can never imagine the kind of singing talents we have... and this is just one university!
Wow, the volume that you dish out was amazing. No one would expect a choir of that size to be so full sounding and just awesome by simply looking at them.
AMAAAAZING this version is longer than it is usually performed. They were holding some of those notes extra long. This was one of my favorite songs to sing when I was in my university's choir.
YES!!! now THIS is how u sing this amazing song. My gosh its perfect. I've sing this as soprano in my school's choir and goodness ir couldn've have gotte better than this. Beautiful, 5 stars!!! ^__^
im really proud of ust singers, and really proud to be one of them. how i wish i had joined this tour. but i can only choose one for my career, and i didn't ever regret my decision. but i still miss singing with ust singers.
I remember when I taught Fidel basic conducting and voice. My student is doin pretty good right now with his choir. Even with lots of flaw but still worth hearin. Especially we re praisin God here
ahhh this is in olomouc!! truly beautiful city of about 90,000, so much going on with music there for a city of its size. i studied there in the summer of 2004 so this has special meaning for me. awesome performance!
I premiered this song at TMEA convention 1995 w/ Andre Thomas, he helped Moses Hogan with his career.Later, I knew him personally (via Miami)and saw his last concert with the chorale in San Francisco. This choral rendition is more interesting than most American renditions I've heard.Yes, they sound 'bigger' than Moses' Chorale but no one has come close to the authentic, haunting, extremely energetic, dark rich sound they had. Actually his chorale sounded double in size(including pianissimi)!
:)!!!!!!!!! wow!!! I loved every decision the conductor made with this piece!!! It's so amazing when a choir and their conductor can truly take a piece of music and *own* it.
This take on the arrangement has so many details in the emphasis and dynamics, and has such cool tempo stretches sometimes. This is a take that really really understands the song as a full narrative that is expressed so deliberately. God, what I’d give for a well-mixed professional recording of this
my favorite part
"Snake in the grass"
"He's a conjour"
"He's a liar"
"HAAAAALLELUJAH Lord!"
I love it!
HOLYYYYY CRAP!!! This is a very difficult song to perform with the biggest of choirs!!!!! This small choir not only did this song justice, they absolutely nailed it!
That tenor run with “hallelujah lord” 💯
The Philippines has crazy singing talent.
What in the world?!?! This is absolutely the BEST version of this song I have come across. FANTASTIC!!!
FINALLY!! I've found someone that did it right!!!!!!
The definition of perfection.
I think Elijah himself was singing in the choir-it was that good.
How about I LMAO at your comment!!! I agree even though it was funny!!!!!!
I cry and get goosebumps everytime I watch this
That short tenor was THROWIN DOWN
This is such a badass version of Elijah Rock. Awesome.
They sang that song!! Off the chain!!🎶🎵🌹
they sing with so much passion and emotion . and that's what makes this soo great. not to mention the musicianship shown in the interpretation of the music and the performing of it
For me, still the best rendition of Elijah Rock. Such a difficult song! They performed it so triumphantly!

Me too.
Their passion for this music linked them to it's cultural background- music is truly the international global language
Philippine choirs are quite simply some of the best in the world. Great rendition, and not just any other rendition. They truly made it their own.
