They definitely don't make movies like this anymore. '90s movies like this had a lot of heart as well as Robin Williams himself and the characters he played! R.I.P.

Depends on how you look at something. In other words, there're many further stories since this I've seen with that, like Cast Away, John Q., and so on.
indeed! Movies with such great messages regarding human values, although if I was the producerof the film or the person assinged to make the script, I would have made some changes. But still, there are great values such as love, kindness, devotion, generosity, compassion and empathy.
I think Doctors/nurses or caretakers and givers NEED to see this first! Before they get brainwashed into losing the ability to listen and remember every person is a person. Who suffer the same fears, inability, inactions, or problems that don’t know how to voice or say is that wrong or I don’t have money I’m just scared and tired of people saying I have a problem. I don’t take issue with doctors but sometimes I feel that yes they hear, but they feel that listening requires a price tag at the end. I know you have to make a living but being rewarded isn’t always money related. I feel that if you go to work, look at people in the eyes and hear them say with a smile or laughter thank you for helping me get through this, it is enough for me to go to work again and going home knowing I made someone better or happy.
@@Janillo2782 As a Christian it kills me to say this, but the real Dr. Patch Adams is no believer in God. He, himself, has said more than once that he has never given a thought to God in his entire life. Please pray for him. He is one of the righteous among the nations and such a man who treasures his fellow man so deeply and completely should not go to hell for lack of faith in God. Pray for this righteous man's conversion and acceptance of our Lord Jesus Christ!
The real tragedy is knowing that acting genius such as Robin Williams is unfortunately one in a billion and may never be witnessed again for several generations. Thank you Robin for the laughter, the tears and the memories
My fav movie! Just can’t believe the real patch adams wasn’t compensated for this movie nor was his permission asked to produce a movie about his story! When I was in nursing school we had the pleasure to meet the real patch adams. Amazing guy!
He was compensated... Fees from the 1998 movie "made it possible to build three beautiful buildings. The real Patch Adams appears in the scene where the medical school staff returns with the verdict. Quit talking out your ass. He was in the fucking movie lol
I saw Patch Adams in Urbana IL a few years ago and he still wears bits of face pain and is quite tall. I saw him in Schnucks grocery store. Appeared to be a friendly looking chap.
One of the most greatest, extraordinary, tear-jerking movies I have ever seen. Everything is resumed in one great quality and value: HUMAN WARMTH!!!! And such great heartwarming music!!!!!
It's his reaction at the end that hits me in the feels. When he sees all of them coming to be there for him and the cheerful "thank you." His happiness, his laughter and pure joy in his expression. He will be missed.
Why did you leave us, oh great human being named Robin????????? We miss you terribly! I am crying right now! May God have you in His Glory and may your future life be filled with honors!
Robin, you made us laugh with you, cry with you. You were the best damn actor there ever was. You touched our hearts over and over again. You gave Superman his ability to fly after his accident. Thank you for making my childhood bright, thank you for reminding me adults can be funny. RIP Robin Williams. You are greatly loved and missed and will never be forgotten.
This is the best speech in modern film and cinema, I have ever heard. Thank you Robin Williams. Al Pacino's final speech in Scent of a Woman, and Mel Gibson in Braveheart would be second and third. I often watch this speech 1-15 times/ year, every year. Thank you Robin Williams. Thank you for your talent, empathy, compassion and understanding for others. You truly did fit this role. From Alberta, Canada-Thank you.
Robin needed mental help but nobody knew, he kept them hidden and bottled up. Until it burst. You are sorely missed Robin Williams. I hope you found peace. Your legacy remains forever etched in our hearts, unmatched.
Robin Williams was brilliant and gave one of his best performances & and his meticulous speeches of his time. He is right about nursing staff you can & will learn allot from them.
This speech coming from Robin Williams of all people is especially painful to hear. A man who took his own life because of depression, giving such an impassioned plea to bring joy and care to those struggling. It hurts pretty hard.
Robin may not have known this at the time, but his acting, and his choices in roles, were like the very thing THIS character of his was talking about in this scene... He was a person that brought out the best in some of us when we might have thought it was impossible to feel that way ever again. He showed us how to be human, how to feel, how to communicate, how to BE when no one else would. Mr Williams, in spite of all the negativity you were dealing with in your life, I can't imagine that I'm the only one who would say that I'm glad I was able to see, hear, and feel your stories. We miss you Dr. Williams.
This man was believable beyond words in every role I've ever seen him take on. A real gift....gone way too soon. The first time I watched this movie, I forgot I was watching a movie. Simply great in every role he played. Awakenings was brilliant too.
Oh Robin We Miss you so much Sir, God Bless you Sir! I know your up in Heaven still making people laugh. Thanks for the years of laughter you gave all of us in your movies and your life. This may have been a character you played but it was you for sure!! Love you Robin!!
In loving memory of Robin Williams, Phillip Hoffman, and good Hollywood movies. Both Robin Williams and Phillip Hoffman were excellent actors and sadly Hollywood at one time made good movies. I hope Hollywood might be able to make good movies again.
Patch Adams had a definite point as to how some Doctors' "WANT" to be revered. I worked as a cashier in a grocery store years ago and a customer came through my line and handed me his check. I noticed it said Dr. so and so on it. When the transaction was over and I handed him his receipt, I said thank you Mr. so and so. This gentleman interrupted and corrected me, and said, That's Dr. so and so. I told him, when I'm in your office, I'll refer to you as Dr.! Outside of your office, you're just another customer, have a great day Mr. so and so.
I had a lady who got mad about coupons and she said "im a doctor I know what im talking about" i said "if youre a doctor, you clearly spent more time learning about bodies than the law." She claps back "im going to write a bad review!" I let her know "only customers can write google reviews, if you dont make a purchase, that review is going to be taken down. Don't they teach you anything in medical school?"

It's not hard to see a part of Robin so prominantly shown in this role. We are all gifted with a spark of madness - don't lose it.
