- Arlecchino was one of the most hyped up characters in Fontaine, and with good reason.
The five stars so far in version five have been brilliant, especially the ones who played a major role in the archon quests - Neuvillette and Furina at the top of the list. So when Hoyo finally announced that the fourth of the Fatui Harbingers was coming soon, everyone was excited.
I had enjoyed her part in the story, appreciated her nuanced character, and loved her design, so at first I was on the hype train …but I kept changing my mind.
When the new patch dropped, I took my time. I waited, tried her trial, and held off until I had played through her story quest before eventually deciding to get her.
Why was I unsure? Why did I pull for her in the end? And after spending two weeks with her, did she live up to the hype?

Yeah, I really like it that she talks so much about her own opinions and experiences with the characters and also their personality and appearance in stories! At the same time it’s a pretty good guide and just shows you everything you need to know about the character
yeah she needs more subs.
Since I don't have Hu Tao she's much more of a novelty on my account, but even there her teams being so similar to the ones I've always used with Yanfei and Yoimiya does feel a little anticlimactic somehow. Super strong and fun to play though so overall positive!
I like this review format that talks about the whole character (rather than exclusively their blob of combat stats).
My only "issue" with Arlecchino is really that most of the pyro dps look alike. I had Lyney before her and now that I have those two I feel like pulling another pyro is stupid, I'm almost thxfull that I skipped Hu tao twice (her rerun partners were just better lol) bcuz even if I go by the rule to pull whoever I like...I really hate to have overlapping units cuz I will end up benching one. (I already dont play Lyney at all now that I have Arle)
That weird feeling gets even more bothering if we consider that Natlan will bring its own load of strong pyro units but beside that I'm really happy with her.
Yeah it's frustrating to reach the point where there's little reason to pull for most characters since they're starting to overlap roles... 😬Hope they don't go down the powercreep route though, since that'd be even worse!

Yeah it's bizarre that the best cryo off-field DPS characters are Kaeya and Ganyu 😂Such a contrast to hydro

I find Arlecchino quite villainous and sinister. She makes me deeply uneasy. In fact I’ve been putting off her story quest…. I do wonder to what extent characters’ voices affect how we feel about them. I play Genshin with the CN dub, and Arlecchino’s CN voice is absolutely bloody TERRIFYING. I heard her EN VA for the first time during the 4.6 presentation, and it’s much more…human, imo.
Oh that’s interesting! I need to look up how she sounds in Chinese now…
OOh that's really interesting 👀 I haven't heard her other dubs, but yeah the EN one is more of a "mysterious" enigma type voice, that makes it hard to assess ehr true intentions, which I think is a perfect fit. I was also on the fence before completing her story quest, but really liked what it revealed in the end!
It definitely does have a huge effect though; in HSS I can't stand Kafka because of her EN voice, and that voice is actually the final thing that 'forced' me to change my in game dub to non-english because her voice was literally making me nauseous???
@@saurusness That was my experience with Paimon, though it wasn't only her. After a few months it became impossible for me to keep playing the game in English. I've been really happy with the CN dub. So many of the voices are just so pleasing and silky smooth and lower-pitched. (Teyvat in CN has fewer adolescents and more adults.) Even Paimon is perfectly fine. And there are other benefits. The animations match the voice lines. And, for a person who doesn't speak Chinese, it's harder to get tired of characters saying the same things over and over because your brain doesn't know what the words mean. But it's also fun to start recognizing simple Chinese words and phrases in other contexts.
I did get her because she's a Harbinger, I saved 180 pulls for her and needed 160 of them. Totally worth it, she's joy to play and it's joy to look at her animations. I love to use her in the overworld, as soon as you get her some life bond she's combat ready for long time and can mow down enemies in an instant. Hilarious thing is that you want to avoid statues with her or they'll remove her life bond and combat readiness. I now remember very well which statues I can teleport to and which I can't. I haven't really used her in Abyss yet but I'm sure her time will come.

I was wishing for Lyney's bow when I pulled Arle's spear early. I thought, might as well try her, since I had already gotten Lyney. I pulled Arle within 40 pulls and I'm very happy to have her 🥰 tho I already had Hu Tao and Yoimiya, Arlecchino's playstyle still feels distinctive enough for me to very much enjoy her
I love watching your character videos 😊 al wreckino seems really fun, and I really enjoyed her in the event. Maybe one day if hte primos align I’ll get her on a rerun

As you know, I pulled a double Arle! So I'm now very invested in her as maybe even my strongest DPS. I love the new cards that pop up when discussing the characters, its a nice visual! I do think I'll continue to be very glad I have her on my account. I've been using Layla, Charlotte, and Xinqui mostly, but also bennet and Yelan subbed in. I'll be interested to try some of these other teams too.

She's absolutely worth it. As a fellow haver of an abundance of pyro DPSs, she outshines all of them. She's more fun to play than Hu Tao for me as well, although Hu Tao was already benched for the past year haha.
yeah I definitley prefer her normal playstyle to Hu Tao as well, though I've foudn I relaly enjoy HT plunge with Xianyun, so that's her new niche I guess 😅

don’t use shimenawas on arlecchino. You use her skill at the start of your rotation, so it’s buff will have run out by the time she goes back on field.

I've enjoyed -Sephiroth's- Father's gameplay but I think she took "Step on me, father" a bit too seriously.
and by that I mean that I lost the 50/50s on the character banner, then I lost the weapon banner twice. And to make things worse, money was involved, so ouchie ouch.
Ouch that's the worst 😭 I had the same experience with Chiori and it really dampens the initial excitement... I hope you get double gold on your next banner to compensate 💜

Honestly, in a Furina comp I use Jean and Mona. I do more damage in that comp than with Bennet/Yelan/Kaz. My Furina comp far more comfortable more so than trying to stay in Bennet's circle. Furina is a pretty busted support, Jean gives stacks and VV buff, Mona is good hydro application and her burst is a very good buff even if it is a little short. I thought that stack generation would be an issue but it's really not been for me. Being a little squishy can be an issue but Arlecchino kills most things before that becomes an issue. The local legends can be horrible but only because they hit for an absurd amount of damage.
Yeah stack generation won't be an issue in that team because Jean is a team-wide healer! Her burst pretty much instantly maxes out Furina's buff. Same goes for Charlotte, and Baizhu, plus others like Kokomi or Yaoyao during their bursts. Still not as good as it could've been since the healing is a little bit wasted in an Arle team 👀
@@raptori Well it's not as big as people make it out to be. You get into harder hitting things like the legends then your supports not dying when they hit for an obscene amount is kind of a nice bonus. They still are effected by the drain.
Then outside of Jean providing VV the others can help set up for elemental reactions. You really only need to worry about Arle's damage. She is going to do more than enough damage. Furina and Mona in my comp do some serious damage buffing and since my Jean is c2 she provides attack speed. That does feel pretty good to me despite it not being considered the best thing due to hit lag.
It's not nearly as bad as people like to make it out to be. Some people were making it out like you can't get Furina's stacks and She makes Arle too squishy and It's not the bad set up as some people would have you believe.
The healing is primarily to gain stacks for Furina's buffs and you can still get a lot of fanfare and Arle is going to provide some because of her burst. However, some supports are pretty squishy when you dont use a shield. Your supports die then that is a dps loss.
Everyone in my comp is doing something. Furina= more damage for Arle and high off field damage, Jean VV shred and attack shred while Sucrose may provide more buffing potential for a VV spot Jean still does provide VV and Attack speed and is still more damage and Mona crazy buffing potential. Nothing is really wasted. It's my best preforming comp when you are focusing on vape damage.
C4 For Arle too makes for you to pretty much almost be able to to burst on command with little to no ER. It's super underrated for a Furina comp. Most people don't have it but you go from low healing to instant full and you are better set up for Normals because Furina's buff is still up.
Granted my Arle is c6 but in one rotation of bursts then normals through one bar of BOL I can do 2.2 million damage in just a few seconds from just normals. No being a slave to Benny's prison circle either. You can do a crazy amount of damage without doing C6 in this comp too. I don't find anything to be all that wasted in the end to be honest.

For me, it was noticeably less comfortable - BUT the whole point of a character like Arle is that you're trading comfort for both more damage, and extra satisfaction when you get things right. I'd have loved it if Arle/Furina teams were like 10-20% stronger than her other teams and just had even more extra risk, but for me they were practically identical in terms of DPS to the teams with a shielder, for whatever reason, so the extra risk added by Furina's health drain wasn't worth it. That could totally have just been bad luck with the ones I tried or something though!

While I do like her, I was also not set on her. I also just won a 50/50. I appreciate her as I don't have (or like) Hu Tao, but her gameplay and rotations feel weird... I can't quite put my finger on it.
I used layla, yelan, and mona which still gives some big boosts too. I hit for almost 110k sometimes and with prototype amber there is healing and energy regeneration. I dunno, it feels good and keeps you from playing bennett circle impact,

I think the only thing I didn't like about the release of the short before the quest was that it was kind of spoilery. I almost felt like I knew too much about her backstory before starting it but they also didn't cover much of her backstory in the quest which they usually do. It's a weird feeling that I don't quite know how to put it into words. I enjoyed the quest just something about it didn't hit quite right, which I wasn't expecting for a Father quest. Still liked it just something didn't click for me which was a weird feeling considering how much I love her playstyle and character in general.
Father plunge with Waterboy along for the ride is better feeling - a vape plunge team and totally fun at least for me 😵

Yeah 100% agreed on her story quest, feels like it'd be really odd without that extra context. Strange decisions all round!
The problem I had with Arle plunge is that she seems to take forever to finish her plunge animation, and dash cancelling wasn't working... wonder if doing a normal attack cancels the animation for her 🤔 For all the other characters I love doing plunge -> dash -> jump -> plunge since it lets you do the plunges super quickly, for her it just didn't let me!
A normal attack is my first reaction when ending the plunge. My sequence is plunge -> normal -> jump -> plunge and it feels shorter, I tend to go with natural feel and how my instincts want to react in the action and it feels faster that way though it may actually be cancelling the animation I haven't actually paid attention to that - I shall check it out in abyss and see if that's what's happening or it's just me not noticing the length of the animation which is totally possible🔍
@@82ilerya Yeah makes sense - if it feels natural then that probably means you're doing it right! Depending on the character normals should cancel the animation too, but then again so should dashes 😆 kinda annoying how inconsistent it is really!
YEah the short was AWESOME but i really question whether it should have just been released after with a warning that it'll spoil her story quest some.... I think the experience would have been completley different!
After beta V4 ppl see Clorinde differently 😢😢 I'm pulling her regardless, then pyro archon ❤
I haven't followed any discussions, but I'm very excited to try Clorinde! I'm a firm believer in pullign hcracters you enjoy regardless of what others say 😊

sorry for the delayed reply I was very sick for a week and I'm only just catching up!
The funny thing is; several of the characters I've made videos about I started off REALLY disliking (like Faruzan, Hu Tao, and actuall even Yae Miko!), but while getting to know them through their playstyle and their backstories I almost always end up appreciating them a little more, even if they don't end up as "favourites" :D
Meanwhile the characters I really don't care much for I end up avoiding completely and thus I feel like I can't really truly "review" them 😅

hahah likely not honestly! My new favourite hu tao team is Hu Tao plunge with Xinayun - or Hu Xiao as it's been dubbed - so there's a different kind of novelty there!
My only issue with the video.

Huh, I had always thought of Rosaria as a buffer rather than a sub DPS. Maybe finally a reason to build her 🤔
@@raptori Melt rosaria (rosaria, benny, xl, sucrose) is absolutely amazing. I have used this team in abyss to 36* for almost 3 years without fail in my 4* only runs. Her teamwide crit rate buff is just cherry on top. In the last abyss rotation blessing my rosaria was sweeping enemies with 100k+ ticks.

I really dislike her with Bennett. She wanders around his field and it is infuriating. I have C6 Yunjin and while she looks creepy (like haunted doll) I am not unwilling to build her, especially since I play Arle with Zhongli, so geo resonance. I think I loose more damage everytime she is not in Bennets field and it is often, especially in multiwave content. i know Bennet is Broken bouken, but...
Ooh with geo resonance too then absolutely worth it. The main reason I've been avoiding using Yun Jin with Arle is that I prefer other shielders to Zhongli - with those two together on the team it'd be fantastic though. I often used Zhongli, Yun Jin, and Xingqiu as the team for Yoimiya; with Arle the same team would be top tier!
@@raptori i have Thoma built, but for burgeon. For shields and especially in abyss with very aggressive mobs I default to zhongli, pyro resonance with thoma and dmg reduction with Xq would be enough but my Thoma is C5 and I would use him for NA buffs but not untill I get him to C6.
@@kuvrut7747 Yeah makes sense, Thoma is amazing for burgeon anyway! So far I've been using Arle with Layla instead of Zhongli, prefer her since she's so quick to cast her shield...

Yes essentially! I think she wanted to distance herself from "Mother", andperhas as an added perk it ads to the mystery of her position and allows her to in some way stay a step ahead of the enemy occasionally
