      802 Garage thanks Aaron. It’s really simple for sure, so hopefully that’ll help keep it reliable. :)

    Screwing the bolts thru the cardboard templates to get the exact position was really clever. I'll keep that one in mind for the future.

      bennyfactor yeah I started doing that a while ago to make sure everything lines up correctly. No surprises if the cardboard fits like the metal will.

    I'm not sure if the setup has changed but make some plugs for the end of the mount unless you found a way to paint inside of the mount. Moisture will get trapped in there and create rust

      Squarepants Gaming I did manage to get most of the insides painted, but very good point. I will put that in my to do list. Thanks.

    Jeff-I would love to know how much you have in the car to date($$$) and what it will cost in the end And how many hours you will have in it?

    • @FullySpooled
      @FullySpooled  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Bill - Good questions. The biggest expenses to date are the parts that I can't make myself. The engine, transmission, suspension, safety equipment, etc. are all things that have fixed costs regardless of the project. In total by now I probably have around $7,000 in this project with parts that I started buying in 2012, so that cost is spread over 6 years. The goal for this chassis is to make it a competitive car in sanctioned drifting events, so it will require safety equipment, a legal roll cage, body work, suspension, and various parts like control arms, sway bars, and other work under the car to make it competitive. That all will probably realistically be an additional $12,000 - $15,000 depending on the quality of parts and how far I want to push the build.
      Of course I'm hoping to get sponsors on board to help with a lot of that, especially with tires and other consumable materials. As far as hours go, I'd guess around 500 hours so far since I bought it in 2015. That is mostly because I am teaching myself a lot of this stuff as I go and I want to get it right. Filming everything also takes up a lot of time. I'll be able to double that number before the car is done and ready for competition.

    Jeff, did you measure the drive shaft angle? Its pretty important, just my 02

    • @FullySpooled
      @FullySpooled  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      john S I used Tremec’s driveline angle finder app. It measures the angle of the engine, driveshaft, and diff to make sure it’s all in spec. I really should have filmed that but ran out of time.

    • @FullySpooled
      @FullySpooled  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You mean will it be red forever? I have plans to paint it later on, but I don't have any colors or livery worked out yet. It'll be this dark red for a while until I start adding wide fenders and flares, then I'll need to paint it for sure.

    Dude you should have just called grannis racing. lol Im sure he would sell you the mount he uses in his kits for these cars.

    • @FullySpooled
      @FullySpooled  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Of course. There are several mount kits available on the market but they are all really expensive. This cost me less than $40 including the $35 poly mount from energy suspension.

    looks rigid .

    • @FullySpooled
      @FullySpooled  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's solid to the chassis. The poly mount will give a small amount of flex and vibration dampening without giving up too much support. Race car after all.

    • @FullySpooled
      @FullySpooled  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      gopherchucks yep for sure. At least there are poly mounts for the engine and transmission though. It’s not hard mounted to the chassis like the pro drift cars.
