In the episode, Grandpa Marvin tries to convince Stan to takes his life, while the parents of South Park protest the crude cartoon Terrance and Phillip. Death himself arrives to kill Kenny, and presents a warning to Grandpa Marvin against forcing others to help him with this.

This was very early days for South Park, and the characters as we know them today weren't quite fleshed out yet. The Mr. McCormick here is a random person, not Kenny's dad. At this point in the show, Kenny didn't have a last name yet. They landed on McCormick later, possibly from the name in this episode. Further, Stan's mom's name is Sharon...but in this episode, Mrs. Cartman and Mrs. Broflovski both call her Carol.
This episode was made in response to several critical reviews of the show (mainly made up of parental/religious groups) at the time early in the shows broadcast that were quoted as saying "south park is nothing but simple animation and fart jokes" to which Matt and Trey responded
"... no no no, we'll show you simple animation and fart jokes!" And thus, Terrance and Philip were born.
The episode itself would later be used as a template for the plot of the south park movie... the parents getting upset over how offensive Terrance and Philip are and trying to get them banned whilst at the same time not showing any concern over what's actually going on in there children's lives and what could ACTUALLY be harmful to them.
Indeed Matt and Trey used this as a point to demonstrate what they thought about the critics and censorship, and when asked they'd just respond "go watch the episode/movie, and that'll tell you what we think."

He publicly championed a terminal patient's right to die by physician-assisted suicide, embodied in his quote, "Dying is not a crime". Kevorkian said that he assisted at least 130 patients to that end. He was convicted of murder in 1999 and was often portrayed in the media with the name of "Dr. Death"
1997 South Park is so nostalgic. I remember watching the show since day one.
Stan's grandpa trying to kill himself by getting Stan to help was another running gag for the first couple seasons.

The one singing the Enya song parody was Toddy Walters, the actress who played Polly Pry in Cannibal the musical and she played Georgi in Orgazmo
The first episode I remember watching, somepoint back in 1998.
I was only 11 at the time, I didn't follow a lot of the jokes but it was just appealing to watch as it was a cartoon that used rude words and had toilet humour 😆
I even owned a vintage South Park tee, with all the four boys on the couch with the text 'Cartoons Kick Ass' underneath, I used to wear to school on non uniform days 😆

I was also around 11 or 12 at the time when it first aired in Australia. When my mother found out about the bad language in it and the "disrespect towards women" (she heard Stan call the bus driver a "fat bitch") I was banned from watching it. Fortunately for me though my mother slept in the opposite end of the house to me and was stupid enough to put a TV in my bedroom, so I continued to watch it anyway 😆
You can still get take diarrhea crap even if you haven't eaten anything for awhile. No matter how empty your stomach is, your body will still find stuff to crap out.

Sheila also calls Stan's mom "Carol" when Stan phones the parents for help.
All the kids moms used to be called carol until Matt and trey came up with actual names for each of them
