Tidal Tempest JP is my favorite here. The song glimmers with killer vibes consistently. The trippy, overstimulating essence of that song is why I love it the most.
I love this one comment someone made about the difference between bad future Wacky Workbench and good future, the bad future is like Eggman weaponized it to be a factory meant for creating weapons of mass destruction, while the good future turns it into a peaceful toy factory.
In conclusion: Sonic CD's soundtracks slap regardless of region! Put them both together like Lock-On Technology and you get my personal pick for Best Soundtrack in the Sonic Series.
I find "Stardust Speedway" (US) at 13:35 to be one of the most different and also, interesting takes on how to produce such an EPIC Good Future song... With the use of chords and melodies that are not major, neither being minor, that song does not feel bright, nor cheerful, but rather triumphant. And yes, it ROCKS HARD! "Metallic Madness" (JP) is also a great song. I love it so much and it sounds like something good is finally happening and you've already completed everything that you needed in the game!! All that's left for you to do is to beat off the final boss.
Didn't expect MMGFUS to be so high...to a non-music professional it just sounds like a sped up and upshifted version of the present, which is kinda lazy
@@LvlGenesis What about the Bad Future? I would argue that it’s loads better than its Japanese counterpart. The Japanese version sounds overblown and a little bit ridiculous with all the laughter in the music. While the United States version not only sounds more industrial and ambient, but also urgent and serious.
I actually really like Metallic Madness' US tracks, especially their thematic elements. The Present theme juxtaposes electric guitars and synthesizers with more traditional instruments like bongos and maracas: I like to think that they symbolize Eggman and Sonic's conflict for Little Planet. In the Bad Future, the guitars become harsher and the synths are much more brash in comparison to the Present. They almost drown out the organic instruments, and it's clear who exactly is winning. However, the Good Future is the complete inverse. Despite leading with the synth, the bongos dominate the entire track and they're supported by harps and even the actual snapping of human fingers. Gone is the guitar, and although the synthesizer still remains, it's been constrained to a noticeable degree. Little Planet has been saved, but there's still one more thing to take care of.
@@JukeDenton Bad Future JP is definitely over the top but that’s one of the reasons they I love it. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good atmospheric track. MM US just never did much for me unfortunately.
I remember reading a TH-cam comment that described Tidal Tempest Good Future US as sounding like "a sexy carwash" and I cannot get that visual out of my head whenever I listen to it.
Collision Chaos finally got a high spot. That really is a good future! Also, Metallic Madness JP is fucking beautiful and is one of my favorite songs! Great lists, dude! Edit: 14 likes for the 14 stages? Nice.
ay, looks like collision chaos finally gets some love after being picked on the past few videos lol my personal favorite is QQZ JP, but yeah MMZ JP definitely nailed the "good future" feel the best out of them all.
Awesome ranking King Meteor. I can tell we have similar taste in music rankings. I would have ranked my list in a very similar order. Metallic Madness JP is the best and really suits the level. Collision Chaos JP is another star as is Star Dust Speedway US.
I think what makes Wacky Workbench GF so interesting is that, like you said, it subdues the melodies of the present theme, but still unmistakeable for that zone. Heck, you listen really carefully before the track loops, and it's actually channelling the PAST theme a little more than the Present, and I absolutely love that! But holy wow, that top pick surprised me. Definitely not the list order I'd personally go in, but given what Metallic Madness represents, it really is captured perfectly in that Good Future track.
Awesome video! I thoroughly enjoyed this ranking series of Sonic CD's level music. One of the most interesting things about Sonic CD is not only how the time periods affect the levels/places of Level Planet in terms of music and visuals, but also seeing how the two different soundtracks try to approach the atmosphere of those levels and their time periods. You did an excellent job explaining your rankings and analyzing the songs in terms of composition, variety and atmosphere. I recommend this series to people interested in seeing others' rankings of Sonic CD's level themes. Also I whole-heartedly agree that Metallic Madness Good Future JP is one of the best Good Future themes ever; for me, I'd even go so far to say that it's one of my favorite Sonic (CD) themes period! Both soundtracks approach the stage and other themes in unique ways; some songs are better in the US soundtrack, and some songs are better in the JP/international soundtrack. Between the two, I guess I prefer the JP soundtrack for greater consistency in overall quality and memorability but the US one has great hits as well (looking at you, Stardust Speedway Bad Future, Palmtree Panic Present {which I actually prefer over the JP track}, Tidal Tempest Present, and Quartz Quadrant Good Future). Both soundtracks in general are fun and interesting to listen to. Looking forward to more content, keep up the good work! Btw I enjoy your take on the US Past themes for Sonic CD; favorite songs are Collision Chaos Past and Stardust Speedway Past, I like how you incorporate melodies from the stage Present themes as well as both Future themes for SS and QQ. Also, your Sonic CD styled remixes are a joy to listen to (I never would have thought of using Stardust Speedway Bad Future US inspiration for Ice Cap Bad Future and Tidal Tempest Past inspiration for Volcano Valley Past).
The whole triumph over evil vibe describes the good futures in the US soundtrack perfectly! Palmtree Panic, Wacky Workbench and even the act complete song really give that feel aswell, even more valuable to the enjoyment as a player than just happiness :)
My opinions on the good future themes Palmtree Panic: JP - Cheerful! A little bit too cheerful... US - welcome to africa Collision Chaos: JP - electronic robots. that's all i hear in the song US - yeah you saved the world and stuff but let's play some guitars Tidal Tempest: JP - as mysterious as it was US - ya like jazz? Quartz Quadrant: JP - come on, just chill US - *shack* Wacky Workbench JP - wacky indeed US - HOORAY! (After listening to the Sonic The Hegehog Boom full album version, that song slaps) Stardust Speedway JP - Speedway US - Stardust Metallic Madness JP - Woohoo! You saved the world! We gotta celebrate! US - bleep bloop bing bong
Palmtree Panic was already a happy place and Sonic just made it so it can keep that way, that's why I think the JP good future music is a perfect fit, and the people clapping at the start was so rewarding as a child but that's just nostalgia.
I definitely feel the same way about Metallic Madness JP having the "triumph over evil" feeling. It actually sounds like it would do well as ending credits music because of that.
The guitar for Wacky Workbench Good Future US sounds very similar to the Bonus Stage music, giving off the fact that you collected the Time Stones, and that you made this future with it!
@King Meteor Studios 3:33 Most Japanese composers and musicians LOVE to include bells, synthesizers and futuristic effects in their music... And this is largely true of that song as well.
My number 1 good future is wacky workbench. It has a very nostalgic feel to it which for some reason I really like and it doesn’t seem to get old unlike the soundtracks and it goes really well with the environment. I think of some kind of toy factory when I come to this stage.
Is it weird to both love Metallic Madness Good Future JP and still think it's too upbeat? It does still have a lot of hazards including bombs. But man is it beautiful.
Here is my ranking: 14. PP US (Doesn't sound happy enough, not that interesting to me) 13. MM US (This one goes way too in the drums for some reason, which is weird for a factory level) 12. CC US (Apart from one sick guitar riff doesn't add much new to the rable compared to Present version) 11. TT US (Doesn't fit water level) 10. TT JP (Apart from the synths at the second part, feels somewhat stagnant) 9. QQ JP (Nice music but a bit repetitive) 8. QQ US (I like the Bad Future variation, but this one is less interesting to me, and for some reason I think it's less suitable for the level) 7. WW US (Nothing bad to say about this theme really, the rest is just better in my opinion) 6. SS JP (Has the same problems as QQ JP, but I think it suits the atmosphere a little bit better) 5. SS US (It's almost unfitting for Bad Future, but I kinda dig it) 4. WW JP (Very suitable for Good Future, quite groovy, the only nitpick I have with it is that at the end it constantly sounds like dialing up a number) 3. PP JP (Easily one of the happiest of tracks in the soundtrack, also works great in contrast with PP JP Bad Future) 2. CC JP (This one is very dreamy. I like the instrument choices here. Despite being a part of Present track leitmotif, it doesn't sound like a repeat) 1. MM JP (Huge contrast between this and Present and Bad Future tracks makes possibly one of the happiest Good Futures of them all)
I'm not sure exactly why, but I've never been a particularly big fan of JP Metallic Madness Good Future. It just sounds... too happy? I know that you've practically already beaten Robotnik by that point, but unlike the other levels, Metallic Madness isn't free of badniks in its good future. It makes sense, considering that it's still Robotnik's base - and I wish the song would reflect that fact, how Metallic Madness is still dangerous despite its future looking brighter It feels a bit too much like the song is saying "Wow, look at this enchanting scenery that Robotnik took over! Isn't it wonderful? I'm sure it'll be juuust fine!" Maybe I'm just spitballing, but the very overt switch to a major key kind of feels demeaning to me
Good future songs described in 5 words or less PPUS-utopian tribal chants PPJP-happiness we unfortunately wont achieve CCUS-why do i feel nothing CCJP-calm and content TTUS-yall ready to get funky? TTJP-repetitive semi earrape QQUS-stairway to heaven the instrumental QQJP-what normal summer feels like WWUS-good self improvement WWJP-a calming presense SSUS-motivation sound extract SSJP-stargazers theme MMUS-back to the worlds origins MMJP-background you saved little planet (listen for it youll hear it eventually)
Man, I love Metallic Madness JP's "G" Mix. It really suits the level perfectly and made me feel very accomplished when I first unlocked the good ending.
I wasn't really surprised on the number one i like the song too It gives you the vibes that you stop all of the genarators and all the lifes you saved are all cheering you on to defeat eggman once and for all
Thing with TT, is that unlike the present, it has no buildup to the leitmotifs, it just throws them in order all at once, making it look stale in comparison. That's what i think happened, in my opinion
I always never liked the Good Future songs, feeling like most of them mess with the "speediness" of the other tracks, but this video helped me appreciate them more!
my opinion: woah lots of hot takes 14. Stardust Speedway JP (D teir) doesn't suit stardust speedway but kinda suits a good future but not a bad track!! 13. Metallic Madness US (D teir) very wacky track yet kinda silent happy 12. Tidal Tempest JP (C teir) better than the preievous entrys but very boring 11. Wacky Workbench JP (C teir) sounds very happy and is the best of the WW JP tracks (besides past) but not special 10. Tidal Tempest US (B teir) sounds happy but doesn't suit an underwater level (least happy sounding good future) 9. Collision Chaos US (B teir) an incredibly chill song that is super nice and peacefull 8. Palmtree Panic JP (A teir) REALLY suits a good future and is kinda annoying 7. Quartz Quadrant US (A teir) once again incredibly atmospheric but one problem, its short 6. Palmtree Panic US (S teir) suprisingly an amazing song imo! I dont get the hate for this song its actually amazing 5. Collision Chaos JP (S teir) very upbeat and peacefull track, 4. Wacky Workbench US (S teir) my god is this an atmospheric track this song is so happy and so industrial 3. Quartz Quadrant JP (S teir) this is one of the best songs ive ever heard its amazing and even though its a remix of the present I dont really care 2. Metallic Madness JP (S teir) MY GOD WHY IS THIS SONG SO GOOD it does everything right and is my 2nd favorite song in the game!!!!! 1. Stardust Speedway US (S teir) this is the best song in the game, it does everything right suprisingly and will forever be my favorite song
Yes! Quartz Quadrant (JP) gets all the popularity, but it's Metallic Madness (JP) that does it for me! An excellent job with this series KM! (Could we maybe see an encore with all the other music, like you did last time?)
Gotta say, you really brought US Stardust Speedway to my attention and wow. Once you get past that start, it really goes 100 mph on you in terms of quality. Thanks for that.
I think that’s why Quartz Quadrant JP Good Futures melody has been moved into the outside of the Present version for the Sonic Hysteria Fan game made by NicoCW
Stardust Speedway US made me love Synth Rock even before i knew what it was. Also you're right! it does fit better the Metal Sonic race! The JP version is good too. But not as much. Still, i'm not a fan of the Good Future themes. I mean, i don't hate them, but the JP ones are way too chill and half of the US ones are bland (the other half is pure awesomeness, which i find funny is most of those themes are the ones that deviate from the main zone theme, which in paper it should be a downside, but probably that also gave the composer more freedom). Bad Future themes were more balanced for me, with both versions having their time to shine. Anyway, this was quite the journey! :D
I'm late! but I've to say: -Disagree with 13th but almost agree with 12th (As i don't know about music I can only analyze songs by how it sounds and how it fits, but Tidal Tempest GF JP is Just *MONOTONE AND BORING* ) -Absolutely disagree with 10th (It was one of the 1st songs that heard from this game [This and the bad future one] *and that's why I love it* and for me this fits both Stardust and Speedway.) -I'd want to but cannot disagree with 8th (It's similar to the present *but it fits as the stage isn't specifically different* ) -DISAGREE WITH 7th (it's different *but in it's own way!* also, I think the last part was the better one) -I don't know if it's only me but Wacky Workbench GF JP really don't does anything for me, it's bright and i love the *PERFECT! LET'S GO!* samples with robotic voices but I cannot say anything else from this song. -I'd rank also USA WW GF USA 4th in this list, also the phrase "As I've listened to it, I've really grown to like it!" *also applies to me.* -Love the rock style of USA Stardust Speedway GF but for me *It doesn't fit the word Stardust unlike the JPN one,* but i respect likes and opinions. Nothing more, I absolutely agree with the 2nd and 1st but 3rd... it's so different from the present music, that I find *annoying*
You know, a thought of mine from back in the day was if you took the Good Future music from the Japanese release, the Bad Future from the U.S. release, and a mix of the Present music from both, you'd have a Sonic CD that would sound perfect.
Bro im My opinion JP soundtrack for the good futures sounds way better and they seem to be more cheerful and more calming and the jp soundtrack gets it right letting you know that its a good future and gives you a sense and feeling of that thr future is saved and a feeling of happiness and joy.
Stardust speedway US is my favorite good future and second favorite song in the game, being a huge fan of 80s synth pop. The fact we can’t hear it for the race in the remake is a crime against humanity.
Here's my ranking on both soundtracks (don't judge me I grew up with the us tracks) 14.Tidal Tempast JP 13.Palmtree Panic JP 12.Stardust Speedway JP(overrated) 11.Wacky Workbench JP 10.Palmtree Panic US 9.Quartz Quadrant JP 8.Tidal Tempast US (underrated) 7.Collision Chaos US 6.Metallic Madness US(overhated) 5.Metallic Madness JP 4.Collision Chaos JP 3.Quartz Quadrant US 2.Wacky Workbench US 1.Stardust Speedway US(my favorite track in the game) (This is my ranking feel free to tell me whats your favorite GF tracks, honestly both jp & us tracks have no horrible tracks im grateful we we're able to have to two soundtracks in the game:)
Finding your comment makes me wonder... What do you find about it to rank it so low... as pretty much everyone I found has MM GF JP/PAL in the top 3 if not straight up the best good future track. It's a valid opinion... and I would like to know the reason, If It's not a problem, of course.
@@Sn0oPng-yv3jyI just don't think is outstandingly good as some other people claim it to be. I just have it tied with its US counterpart as not bad songs, but are my least favourites of MM
I go for two separate list because too hard for me to rank 14 songs. For the JP: 7) Tidal Tempest 6) Metallic Madness 5) Palmtree Panic 4) Quartz Quadrant 3) Stardust Speedway 2) Collision Chaos 1) Wacky Workbench And the US: 7) Tidal Tempest 6) Palmtree Panic 5) Metallic Madness 4) Collision Chaos 3) Quartz Quadrant 2) Wacky Workbench 1) Stardust Speedway My comparison: Palmtree Panic: JP>US Collision Chaos: JP>US Tidal Tempest: JP>US Quartz Quadrant: JP>US Wacky Workbench: JP>US Stardust Speedway: JP=US (impossible to choose) Metallic Madness: US>JP
From 8 they become really great and to diferentiate between the top 5 is not an easy task, yet here we are and I fully agree. The reason for the difference between your taste for some of the under 10 tracks and others, is probably because some people (myself often included) see the song more by itself rather than in tandem with the stage it needs to represent and the other related tracks (bad and present variations).
First and foremost, it's funny how both you and OceanSickJasper got sent all the way back up on that second segment in Collision Chaos Good Future act 1. Again our lists are pretty close for the most part, here's mine: 14. Tidal Tempest US (despite the good Present JP and amazing Bad Future US, this zone has the worst combined soundtrack score by far) 13. Palmtree Panic US 12. Tidal Tempest JP 11. Metallic Madness US 10. Palmtree Panic JP (BTW, act 2 is also a great way to describe the Bad Futures of both Wacky Workbench US and Collision Chaos JP) 9. Stardust Speedway JP (clearly the least of the best) 8. Collision Chaos US (This is probably the biggest disagreement between us this time around, I actually kinda like it. It gives a happy but somber vibe, like Sonic thinks "Okay, I think I fixed this place, but I still need to rescue Amy" 7. Wacky Workbench US (The US tracks can easily grow on you. This is one great rocking tune, but maybe it sounds just a little too dark for a Good Future) 6. Stardust Speedway US (I penalize it mostly because it doesn't NEED to fit the race, the race should always be the Bad Future theme, AKA Metal Sonic's theme) 5. Wacky Workbench JP (Just like in Collision Chaos US and Metallic Madness JP, it's impressive how they turned a pretty dark piece to a happy-sounding one. I also like to think the toy factory runs on green energy.) 4. Quartz Quadrant JP 3. Quartz Quadrant US (I like the two of them equally, but this one is more energetic) 2. Collision Chaos JP 1. Metallic Madness JP (Quite possibly my favorite track in both soundtracks. However, all three winners of all three timelines have a hard fight between them)
And now, for something completely different: Ranking the whole zones based on all their tracks! 7. Tidal Tempest Ranks: 14, 13, 12, 11, 8 and 3. I kinda like the Past too. This was no contest. The Present US and Good Future JP bore me, and Good Future US and Bad Future JP really don't fit the stage. Present JP is better but loses in the extremely hard battle of the Present tracks. The only one I really love is Bad Future US. 6. Palmtree Panic Ranks: 14, 13, 12, 10, 7 and 6. I really love the Past version. Even though the ranks aren't much better than Tidal Tempest's (maybe they're even worse), the biggest issue are the US tracks which are simply underwhelming. This zone's issues aren't as aggregious. I also like the Past theme more than Tidal Tempest's, though both feature great Past themes. 5. Collision Chaos Ranks: 13, 11, 10, 8, 3 and 2. However, the Past version brings it down. Again the US tracks bring this zone down, where the Japanese versions really shine this time around. If it wasn't for the annoying distorted vocals of the Past and the Japanese Bad Future not sounding evil at all, it would probably go up at least one spot. 4. Wacky Workbench Ranks: 9, 9, 7, 5, 4 and 2. The Past is incredible. This one features no real stinkers, but is slightly brought down by the Japanese side (except the Bad Future). It comes close to Quartz Quadrant but loses mostly because it doesn't have a number 1. 3. Quartz Quadrant Ranks: 13, 11, 6, 4, 3 and 1. The Past could be better, though. The ranks make it feel like it should be below Wacky Workbench, but it's saved by the absolute masterpiece that is Present JP. Bad Future US and both Good Futures are also amazing. The two stinkers keep it well below the two best zones thematically and musically. 2. Metallic Madness Ranks: 11, 8, 5, 4, 2 and 1. The Past is really unique. What can I say? Despite a few shortcomings from the US side (again), this is one of the most iconic and best zones, thematically and also musically. 1. Stardust Speedway Ranks: 9, 8, 6, 6, 4 and 1. The Past is as great as the rest. Freaking duh. The only slightly lacking track IMHO is Good Future JP. Also, this is the only zone in which I prefer all the US versions to the JP versions, but everything is just great, between the iconic and memetic HUEHUEHUE and the phenomenal guitars (both acoustic and electric) of the US versions.
I always thought of Collision chaos good future as a kind of c minor to c major progression, the first chord being a c minor triad with the minor sixth and the second chord as a c major 1 and major3 with 4 and major6. It’s interesting how you put it as an Ab major7 to F major7, but im pretty sure its just 2 C chords b/c literally all of the music in the JP/EU is in C
Fun fact: In the original Sega CD release of the US version of this game, if you race Metal Sonic in the good future, you hear the good future music during the race. In fact, you might even hear it in the bad future as well, I'm not entirely sure since I don't own the original game (and I haven't found a pirated copy-I mean a disc image for use in emulation anywhere). In the 2011 version though that's not the case; the bad future music plays during the race regardless of whether it's the good or bad future (I doubt this was on purpose though, they probably just forgot about it). This is kind of a shame too: In my opinion, the US GF music always sounded a bit too intense for when you're just running around the stage, but I can easily excuse it knowing it's SUPPOSED to be the race music. But a lot of people who only played the 2011 version (cause come on, who has a Sega CD) will never know.
Awesome vid as always. My list would have been very similar. Several views I have: 1. I agree 1000% percent that Palmtree Panic Good Future JP sounds like it would fit an Act 2 better than a Good Future. 'You could almost say the same for Tidal Tempest JP. 2. Both Good Futures for Palmtree Panic and Tidal Tempest really were lousy (for PP, the US was boring and the JP sounded too much like the Present, TT US didn't fit the level while JP was too similar again) 3. I love how many examples you could find of the US and JP Versions complementing each other for a different aspect of the level name. For example, in Wacky Workbench Good Future, the US Version has the Workbench Feel and the JP has the Wacky feel. 4. I think your sentiments of Wacky Workbench US are shared by many. It sounds kinda boring at first, but it does grow on you and gives you triumph vibes when you listen more to it. 5. I'm kinda torn between CC JP and MM JP. They are both really beautiful songs. 6. I know for some Stardust Speedway JP is kinda bland, but I love the slow and peaceful vibes it gives off (which would explain why I also love QQ Good Future JP). At the same time, I love the rock vibes the US gives off. That contrast is kinda nice. 7. For Stardust Speedway, my compromise for both is this: For the Bad Future, US fits the level where the JP fits the Metal Sonic Race. For the Good Future, JP fits the level where US fits the Metal Sonic Race. I do wish I had the option of hearing the US Version in the Good Future with the stage having the JP ST. Thanks for doing this ranking. It was great getting to see you give your opinion. Also, while I'm looking forward to seeing more of the Time Versions of other Sonic Games, I'm curious if you would ever consider doing mashup/remix versions of Sonic CD music? I've heard some that are really good.
14. Tidal Tempest JP: I don't really hate it, even though the song is in last place. It's peaceful and fits the underwater stage, but I just find it boring. Some of the instruments are also a bit irritating at times, so yeah, Tidal Tempest JP is in last place. 13. Collision Chaos US: I would've put this in last place, but I think it is just slightly better than Tidal Tempest JP. It's peaceful and fits for that forest background and bright blue sky. I'm not really a fan of those guitar swells, but I suppose they're fine. Other tracks are much much better than this. 12. Wacky Workbench JP: I like this track, fits for the toy factory theme. It's good, but I don't think it's interesting or special. After this, we're getting to the good tracks. This is also good, but not as good as the other ones. 11. Palmtree Panic JP: This track is also very beautiful and blissful. It fits the stage and sounds good, but the track is just too cheerful and loud. Not much else to say. 10. Palmtree Panic US: This track is a good balance between happy and also not annoying. It IS happy, I don't know why people think it should be more happier, it's meant to be calm, which fits a tropical environment perfectly. 9. Metallic Madness US: I used to really hate this track for not sounding happy enough, but it has started to grow on me. The beginning part is weak for me, but it slowly gets good and starts feeling rewarding, while at the same time the track tells you that you still must stop Eggman as it's not the end yet. It's industrial, but that doesn't mean it HAS to fit a dystopian setting, it can be the other way around too. I also like how the track uses the organic bongos, in the Present of MM US it's a mix of bongos and mostly metallic sounds and guitar sounds, while in the BF it's entirely made up of a chaotic guitar and metallic sounds. Only flaw is that it could be a bit less silent on the happiness and also tone it down with the loud bongos. 8. Metallic Madness JP: This is a beautiful track and it really conhratulates you for saving Little Planet, but I feel it celebrates its victory too early, because Eggman is still around, and it also feels a bit weird to hear this while looking at the fact that the buzz saws and spikes are still there. This would fit more for Little Planet after Eggman being beaten imo. Regardless, this is absolutely beautiful and very rewarding. 7. Tidal Tempest US: This track has sure grown on me alot. It's pretty straightforward for a good future, it sounds well...happy. That guitar solo is also legendary and I think it does fit the stage for a water filtration plant/greenhouse, JP just fits more for an aquarium. 6. Stardust Speedway JP: This is just a beautiful track. The hues are also well used and it perfectly fits the Stardust part. It only doesn't fit for the Speedway, but nonetheless I love this track. 5. Wacky Workbench US: Also a very good track. It totally doesn't fit a bad future like many people say. Just because it's industrial, that doesn't mean it should be in a dystopian setting. It fits very well for the good state of the factory. The guitar is also less chaotic and more organized compared to the bad future's. A solid track which I would rank higher if the album versions were allowed on this ranking. 4 and 3. Quartz Quadrant JP and US: These two are blissful in their own ways. JP describes the sight of the mine itself, while US describes the glowing crystals and quartz. I can't decide which is more beautiful, which is why both tracks are tied for me. 2. Collision Chaos JP: Just amazing, and fits the stage well. What more can I say but that I absolutely adore this track. When first hearing this, I thought of it as my favorite GF theme, and while it's my second favorite now, it's still very good amd worth listening to. 1. Stardust Speedway US: Man, this track is just epic! It fits the Speedway part more, but those twinkle sounds also add to the Stardust part. I am also a synth guy, so this did not dissapoint! So heavenly and heroic.

Metallic Madness JP is an understandable top pick, but I really prefer both Stardust Speedway songs and Quartz Quadrant JP. They’re all so GOOD.
That's the problem with this game. The music is so good that it pains you to rank some tracks so low.
Me too, Gator. Those 2 are my number 2 and 1. Well, the JP Stardust Speedway. I don't know about the US version.
@@shocktrauma85 How would you rank the Good future tracks in the game?
@matteoscodingjamchannel3333Hey your comment looks good.
BRUH. but collision chaos is good
I love this one comment someone made about the difference between bad future Wacky Workbench and good future, the bad future is like Eggman weaponized it to be a factory meant for creating weapons of mass destruction, while the good future turns it into a peaceful toy factory.
It was on deoxyous prime's video, wasn't it?

I find "Stardust Speedway" (US) at 13:35 to be one of the most different and also, interesting takes on how to produce such an EPIC Good Future song...
With the use of chords and melodies that are not major, neither being minor, that song does not feel bright, nor cheerful, but rather triumphant. And yes, it ROCKS HARD!
"Metallic Madness" (JP) is also a great song. I love it so much and it sounds like something good is finally happening and you've already completed everything that you needed in the game!!
All that's left for you to do is to beat off the final boss.
I think Stardust Speedway BF fits the stage more, while GF suits the Metal Sonic race.
Didn't expect MMGFUS to be so high...to a non-music professional it just sounds like a sped up and upshifted version of the present, which is kinda lazy
Metallic Madness US has always been the weakest zone in terms of music for both soundtracks for me.
Yeah, I’m not that big on the U.S. Metallic Madness good future for the same reason.
I remember reading a TH-cam comment that described Tidal Tempest Good Future US as sounding like "a sexy carwash" and I cannot get that visual out of my head whenever I listen to it.
Oddly fitting, considering the water theme
Lmao this is my least favorite song in the US soundtrack but with this new image i appreciate it a lot more it fit so well lol
@elone7744 no offense but I disagree,(I'm kinda biased)
Collision Chaos finally got a high spot. That really is a good future!
Also, Metallic Madness JP is fucking beautiful and is one of my favorite songs!
Great lists, dude!
Edit: 14 likes for the 14 stages? Nice.
Metallic madness good future JP feels like I’m floating in heaven
For me, Palmtree Panic JP is my favorite and actually shows that you have saved it.
ay, looks like collision chaos finally gets some love after being picked on the past few videos lol
my personal favorite is QQZ JP, but yeah MMZ JP definitely nailed the "good future" feel the best out of them all.
My opinions on the good future themes
Palmtree Panic:
JP - Cheerful! A little bit too cheerful...
US - welcome to africa
Collision Chaos:
JP - electronic robots. that's all i hear in the song
US - yeah you saved the world and stuff but let's play some guitars
Tidal Tempest:
JP - as mysterious as it was
US - ya like jazz?
Quartz Quadrant:
JP - come on, just chill
US - *shack*
Wacky Workbench
JP - wacky indeed
US - HOORAY! (After listening to the Sonic The Hegehog Boom full album version, that song slaps)
Stardust Speedway
JP - Speedway
US - Stardust
Metallic Madness
JP - Woohoo! You saved the world! We gotta celebrate!
US - bleep bloop bing bong
Collision chaos Us is like "we're going back to the 1950's for everyday is throwback Thursday"
Palmtree Panic was already a happy place and Sonic just made it so it can keep that way, that's why I think the JP good future music is a perfect fit, and the people clapping at the start was so rewarding as a child but that's just nostalgia.
I wish there were official SEGA remixes of stardust speedway GF US. Considering it was the metal sonic race music in THE ORIGINAL RELEASE!!!AAAHHH

Metallic madness JP is great because it feels like the ultimate good future.

14. PP US (Doesn't sound happy enough, not that interesting to me)
13. MM US (This one goes way too in the drums for some reason, which is weird for a factory level)
12. CC US (Apart from one sick guitar riff doesn't add much new to the rable compared to Present version)
11. TT US (Doesn't fit water level)
10. TT JP (Apart from the synths at the second part, feels somewhat stagnant)
9. QQ JP (Nice music but a bit repetitive)
8. QQ US (I like the Bad Future variation, but this one is less interesting to me, and for some reason I think it's less suitable for the level)
7. WW US (Nothing bad to say about this theme really, the rest is just better in my opinion)
6. SS JP (Has the same problems as QQ JP, but I think it suits the atmosphere a little bit better)
5. SS US (It's almost unfitting for Bad Future, but I kinda dig it)
4. WW JP (Very suitable for Good Future, quite groovy, the only nitpick I have with it is that at the end it constantly sounds like dialing up a number)
3. PP JP (Easily one of the happiest of tracks in the soundtrack, also works great in contrast with PP JP Bad Future)
2. CC JP (This one is very dreamy. I like the instrument choices here. Despite being a part of Present track leitmotif, it doesn't sound like a repeat)
1. MM JP (Huge contrast between this and Present and Bad Future tracks makes possibly one of the happiest Good Futures of them all)
Most of your picks are understandable. My favorite JP good future is Metallic Madness while my favorite US good future is Stardust Speedway.
They're both the best of each ost.
I'm not sure exactly why, but I've never been a particularly big fan of JP Metallic Madness Good Future. It just sounds... too happy? I know that you've practically already beaten Robotnik by that point, but unlike the other levels, Metallic Madness isn't free of badniks in its good future. It makes sense, considering that it's still Robotnik's base - and I wish the song would reflect that fact, how Metallic Madness is still dangerous despite its future looking brighter
It feels a bit too much like the song is saying "Wow, look at this enchanting scenery that Robotnik took over! Isn't it wonderful? I'm sure it'll be juuust fine!"
Maybe I'm just spitballing, but the very overt switch to a major key kind of feels demeaning to me
17:29 it's perfect and peaceful

I actually really like tidal tempest us
Stardust Speedway US made me love Synth Rock even before i knew what it was.
I'm late! but I've to say:
-Disagree with 13th but almost agree with 12th (As i don't know about music I can only analyze songs by how it sounds and how it fits, but Tidal Tempest GF JP is Just *MONOTONE AND BORING* )
-Absolutely disagree with 10th (It was one of the 1st songs that heard from this game [This and the bad future one] *and that's why I love it* and for me this fits both Stardust and Speedway.)
-I'd want to but cannot disagree with 8th (It's similar to the present *but it fits as the stage isn't specifically different* )
-DISAGREE WITH 7th (it's different *but in it's own way!* also, I think the last part was the better one)
-I don't know if it's only me but Wacky Workbench GF JP really don't does anything for me, it's bright and i love the *PERFECT! LET'S GO!* samples with robotic voices but I cannot say anything else from this song.
-I'd rank also USA WW GF USA 4th in this list, also the phrase "As I've listened to it, I've really grown to like it!" *also applies to me.*
-Love the rock style of USA Stardust Speedway GF but for me *It doesn't fit the word Stardust unlike the JPN one,* but i respect likes and opinions.
Nothing more, I absolutely agree with the 2nd and 1st but 3rd... it's so different from the present music, that I find *annoying*
14:06 I think Stardust Speedway (JP) also has “Stardust” and “Speedway” too
Stardust Speedway US is my favourite. I love the rock music in the background.
Would love to hear your perspective on the Mania soundtrack, maybe comparing originals to remixes, or whatever works hah!

I like how some of Collision Chaos US GF had a little tune of motifs like from the present the xylophone😊
I Have always felt that the Good Future Tidal Tempest (US) was giving off Knight Rider Vibes 🙂🙂
15:06 this part of the song sounds awfulyl like the msm loading screen song
First and foremost, it's funny how both you and OceanSickJasper got sent all the way back up on that second segment in Collision Chaos Good Future act 1.
Again our lists are pretty close for the most part, here's mine:
14. Tidal Tempest US (despite the good Present JP and amazing Bad Future US, this zone has the worst combined soundtrack score by far)
13. Palmtree Panic US
12. Tidal Tempest JP
11. Metallic Madness US
10. Palmtree Panic JP (BTW, act 2 is also a great way to describe the Bad Futures of both Wacky Workbench US and Collision Chaos JP)
9. Stardust Speedway JP (clearly the least of the best)
8. Collision Chaos US (This is probably the biggest disagreement between us this time around, I actually kinda like it. It gives a happy but somber vibe, like Sonic thinks "Okay, I think I fixed this place, but I still need to rescue Amy"
7. Wacky Workbench US (The US tracks can easily grow on you. This is one great rocking tune, but maybe it sounds just a little too dark for a Good Future)
6. Stardust Speedway US (I penalize it mostly because it doesn't NEED to fit the race, the race should always be the Bad Future theme, AKA Metal Sonic's theme)
5. Wacky Workbench JP (Just like in Collision Chaos US and Metallic Madness JP, it's impressive how they turned a pretty dark piece to a happy-sounding one. I also like to think the toy factory runs on green energy.)
4. Quartz Quadrant JP
3. Quartz Quadrant US (I like the two of them equally, but this one is more energetic)
2. Collision Chaos JP
1. Metallic Madness JP (Quite possibly my favorite track in both soundtracks. However, all three winners of all three timelines have a hard fight between them)
And now, for something completely different: Ranking the whole zones based on all their tracks!
7. Tidal Tempest
Ranks: 14, 13, 12, 11, 8 and 3. I kinda like the Past too.
This was no contest. The Present US and Good Future JP bore me, and Good Future US and Bad Future JP really don't fit the stage. Present JP is better but loses in the extremely hard battle of the Present tracks. The only one I really love is Bad Future US.
6. Palmtree Panic
Ranks: 14, 13, 12, 10, 7 and 6.
5. Collision Chaos
Ranks: 13, 11, 10, 8, 3 and 2. However, the Past version brings it down.
Again the US tracks bring this zone down, where the Japanese versions really shine this time around. If it wasn't for the annoying distorted vocals of the Past and the Japanese Bad Future not sounding evil at all, it would probably go up at least one spot.
4. Wacky Workbench
Ranks: 9, 9, 7, 5, 4 and 2. The Past is incredible.
This one features no real stinkers, but is slightly brought down by the Japanese side (except the Bad Future). It comes close to Quartz Quadrant but loses mostly because it doesn't have a number 1.
3. Quartz Quadrant
Ranks: 13, 11, 6, 4, 3 and 1. The Past could be better, though.
The ranks make it feel like it should be below Wacky Workbench, but it's saved by the absolute masterpiece that is Present JP. Bad Future US and both Good Futures are also amazing. The two stinkers keep it well below the two best zones thematically and musically.
2. Metallic Madness
Ranks: 11, 8, 5, 4, 2 and 1. The Past is really unique.
What can I say? Despite a few shortcomings from the US side (again), this is one of the most iconic and best zones, thematically and also musically.
1. Stardust Speedway
Ranks: 9, 8, 6, 6, 4 and 1.
Could you make sonic cd style remixes of knuckles chaotix songs
Now that all is left Ranking every sonic cd song including sonic boom and special stage music and other
Fun fact: In the original Sega CD release of the US version of this game, if you race Metal Sonic in the good future, you hear the good future music during the race.
Several views I have:
1. I agree 1000% percent that Palmtree Panic Good Future JP sounds like it would fit an Act 2 better than a Good Future. 'You could almost say the same for Tidal Tempest JP.
2. Both Good Futures for Palmtree Panic and Tidal Tempest really were lousy (for PP, the US was boring and the JP sounded too much like the Present, TT US didn't fit the level while JP was too similar again)
FINALLY SOME APPRECIATION FOR MMGFJP, ITS SO GOOD!!'
