  • In this video we repair a fake Tactrix Openport 2.0 OBD dongle that doesn't power up off of the OBD port.
    There isn't a schematic as such, but I have pasted a link to how it was wired up below, as well as a link to the Buck Converter on Aliexpress.

    Its much easier to get it working... just replace R1 to 47k ... so its working fine on OBD Power. No need for extra step down converters.

      We replaced r2 as its part of the potential divider with a 56k resistor and the DC-DC still didn't work - the output remained the same. Really appreciate the input but its done now and works, but I'll pin your comment so people can try that first and then if that doesn't work they can go all out on it and do what we did. Thanks for the info!

      I tested R1 with 47k and it worked, thanks! But I found the voltage a bit low. From calculation ideal is 52.5k. I installed a 51.1k and voltage is very close.

    If you don't have the skills to de-solder the component as mentioned. You can try to use a little powerbank together with the USB cable connected to the Openport.

    Hi, Thnks for the video, mine doesn't turn on after flashing an ecu with ecuflash, it was fine for about a year, it doesn't turn on with usb but has voltage on board (4.8v). I tried an other one with ecu flash and it flashed the ecu once and now it's same as mine. Do you have any idea?

    Try differents USB ports because, I get 4.84v without any modification, ONLY changing the usb port on my laptop (usb 3.0 controller in expansion port). I try in another USB 3.0 and I got only 4.54v. If I use a charger with only 1A the volts drops to 4.33v...with 3A charger up to 4.54v, but only got 4.84v in this USB 3.0 controller (RENESAS).

      @the_equalizor  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hatsanat Srianant okay so are you saying that it doesn’t show any lights on usb and obd? That could be the voltage regulator has gone bad then. Iirc the 12v and usb 5 volts end up going to a 3.3v linear regulator. I’d be checking the voltage going into that (5v I think) and then it should have 3.3v coming out. If you google the part number of that regulator you’ll see which the input and the output pins are. I think it’s the 3 pin device behind the sdcard socket.
