Very nice demo fellas. Clearly PING has made the fitting process, at least for lie angle, a snap. This among many other reasons is why I remain a PING player and have so since the 1980s. Thanks for doing this video!
I just got a fitting. Put me in the g430, and the clubs I had were red dot, my new ones are white dot. I was amazed how straight I can hit now. Good to see the same results
nice work. i went to a Ping fitting, at their proshop in Scottsdale. pretty cool, but casual. i'm 6 5 and they gave me a plus 1, green dot on the i525. i consistently push the ball, even when i feel i've pured it. i'm hoping the lie change nails it.
An important factor affecting lie angle is the position of the shaft when it is gripped. A person who grips the shaft with the butt on the pad of the hand (incorrect grip) will require an upright adjustment. While if the same person grips the shaft at the base of the fingers (correct position) he may not need any adjustment to the standard lie angle. I've seen this many times where a golfer is fitted with an upright adjustment to their irons due to incorrect grip. When I instruct them change to a proper grip the lie angle has to be changed.
I am 6’8” with a 41” WTF measurement. Which would put me in white if you follow the chart. I’m worried too much manipulation will result in a tough time with different lie angles on the course. What is your experience with fitting people beyond the chart
So is it uncommon to need a different lie angle for maybe a 9i and a 5i ? Because probably due to the added length, my long irons seem to require a flatter swing plane .
I mean yes it's possible, but the lie angle of a 5 iron is already flatter than a 9 iron so generally adjusting the lie angle across the board for your clubs is the best
Very common to need to be flatter than standard on PW/9i and more upright than standard on 4i/5i. The 1/2 degree standard change between clubs doesn't fit everyone.
Maybe next time we can use blue color for blue dot, instead of orange. You can tell the guys we're confused about green dot being blue and blue dot being orange
this is one of the best lie angle videos I have watched. Very impressive!

Nice video, curious about where the impacts on the face were by lie. For example, was the red lie impacts closer to the toe, and vice versa?
You need an incredible and robotic ball striker like Thomas Campbell to do this test.
Agreed. This guy can barely keep a 7 iron in the fairway which means the effect of a 1 degree lie angle change gets lost in his normal variation.
I agree also, the Gentleman was not the best person to use.
Excellent video!

Ping's chart also has height and wrist to floor measurements so what are his measurements? What does he normally play?
What are Michael's height and wrist distance for the hitter? Would have been good to state this from the beginning. Does it match up with the chart?
Another great video

Do you measure your overall height with shoes on?
Or is that just for the WTF measurement?
We like to measure with shoes on so prefer to have height from the golfer with shoes on
Man I wish you guys would bring a 2nd swing to Georgia
Do you check the lie angle for each club or is it the on all clubs
On a lie board Im around a 2 upright fit. In reality Im a 1 flat guy since my miss is usually left and upright lies just add to that.
How do I search for -0.5" iron sets on your site?

Bet u anything that he’s a heel striker ! Club path is almost perfect . Heel striker !
Looks like standard would be just fine for him. 🤔
LOL. "My hands feel like Keegan Bradley"
Left at home and kinda lonely? 😂
lie angle is just swing plane.should blame golfer.
