      I can't imagine chaining up any animal. Kennels are just a step up from chaining. I'm so glad I chose to live in the country where my pets can be free. I let them in and out when they need to go. But for the most part, my dog stays within 15 ' of me and my cats come in late at night after their hooking shift.

      @Annie O Dogs don't automatically attack if you don't "cater to their every need", they can actually tolerate qutie a lot but everyone has their limits and everyone has their needs. Dogs are no different and they are sentient beings that should be treated as such. Thats not saying you should always give them what they want or cant disipline them or you always have to put them first. But you absolutely should have some actual caring. Having a dog where you control its entire life is a MUTUAL relationship, their needs are important on their own. You cause great suffering whenever you neglect a human or animal that depends on you, and you choose to make them depend on you.
      But in your case its best you never have a pet (or children for that sake) at least you have realised that

    I've had my dog for almost nine years and she loves making eye contact and just wants to stare at eachother constantly. Most of the time she just will stare into your soul until you throw her ball or toy. I also catch her just staring at me and when I finally look at her in the eyes she gets so excited and happy and just wants to cuddle and kiss my face.

      My Chihuahua is very affectionate with me and my family. We have her from birth and she loves hugs and kisses. Oh and she loves to gazing at me. When you ask her questions she responds with a blink or quickly stick out her tongue. She loves to play but she totally hates bicycles, strangers and other dogs! Other than that, she’s a perfect little companion. As long she’s around, I’m never alone.

      Thanks! She was an incredible dog. She lived to the ripe age of 15 years old and was given 3 to 6 months to live when they discovered 3 cancerous tumors inside of her over a year ago. She fought it out, every time she had an episode where she wouldn't eat. My wife couldn't get her to eat, or drink, but she'd always do it for me. We had a really special connection, that I've never had with any other dog and probably never will have that sort of connection again.

      Firstly we aren't all American you know, and people like you are the reason Americans are seen as having no heart or soul, and secondly Wow, your post says more about you than mine does about me. I have 4 kids and none of them are pussies, and they are far from spoiled. My husband is a cop and very no nonsense and tough, and my 2 boys are very much rough and tumble boys, even my autistic one, and my 2 girls are girly but not at all pussies, but they all do care about things and have great hearts. I only say this because you've judged a person and their whole life on one sentence! I am not a SJW, far from it. I have no tolerance for that sort of thing, but I do have standards and I do have a heart and am not violent, something people like you can't seem to separate from someone who is offended for the sake of being offended! SJW's may be ridiculous and extreme, but so are those at the other end of the spectrum and just as bad in my book.

      Obnoxious Bluebird the thing is, im not on the other side, im in the grey area because i know all of the political parties are corrupt. The only reason im on this is because i have to deal with people who literally encourage people to kill themselves (your a parent, but youll never know what your kid does or says at school or what their morals and values are, and i know because i have to go to school with these undisiciplined wastes of dna who will talk about other people behind their backs, publicly humilate people, have sex with someone for witty comments, and who will never add any value to society and will only make it harder for humans to evolve and deal with them). Not only that, but when you have the people on the other side who are sensitive to something like what was shown, they dont know anything about real abuse. You wouldnt call that abuse if you had boiling water poured on you or if you were beaten and left to stay there like whats happened to me! so it enrages me someone can consider discipline abuse, when discipline is NEEDED. Its simple, and i see it with every other kid im around, theyre fucking cunts, and then people wonder why there are school shooters when its their kids causing those kids to feel isolated and rejected, and the reason they act this way to other chilred is due to their shitty parenting. Im sick of seeing it and being a part of it, and i cant escape that bullshit unless i kill myself or drop out, but if i drop out, there goes whatever bullshit future i have here in a repetive cycle of paying taxes for something ill never have a say in, or i just die and every body else stays the same and the world just continues to divide itself like it wouldve whether i was there or not. Its pointless... and no one will ever care if i was abused or not or if someone is disabled, they dont care because their ruthless and only care about what gives them their little moment of entertainment. Thats why theres pussies who consider this abuse, and theres dumbass kids who will grow up to be irresponsible and lazy adults with no greater purporse than to pray to god and repopulate.. another bullshit cycle

      @obnoxiousbluebird6634 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Nemo Dollaz I'm sorry for everything you've gone through, but yet again you've made a judgement without knowing the facts. I do in fact know what abuse is, in several ways and from several angles. I was severely abused both physically and psychologically by my mother my whole life. Also I'm a nurse so I've seen abuse so bad it would make anyone sick. My oldest child is 13 years old and autistic and he has been badly bullied at school, so I do know a thing or too about that too, and all those things are probably why I'm a bit more sensitive to cruelty and somehow I've managed to teach my kids right from wrong, good from bad without once having to smack them. I also have 3 dogs and all 3 are fully trained, and very well behaved and obedient without having to be smacked either. One has turned out so well trained he's become a service dog for my son. I'm all for discipline and I do know what you mean about a lot of kids not getting discipline and what they can turn into but there are different levels of discipline and making someone/something afraid of you is not discipline it's control. You can discipline without hitting, and if you do it right and consistently, dog or kid can turn out great. You and I have had similar experiences but clearly they ended up affecting us in different ways. I'm sorry that you have so many horrible kids in your life, I'm sorry you've suffered and I'm sure that's what's made your opinion more extreme, but not all kids are like that. My older daughter is 7 and she's seen the effect bullying has on her brother and has, from what I've been told by other kids and teachers, defended him and a couple of other kids she's seen bullied, several times and is clearly very well liked at school so I feel pretty confident of what she's like when I'm not around. My 2 younger ones are only 3 and 1 but considering how well their brother and sister are turning out I'm not worried. They all know right from wrong, they are respectful to adults and they have great manners. They are not perfect (being human as they are) and are pulled up and disciplined when they do the wrong thing. My husband doesn't smack either but they always know when he means business and they respect him enough so when he gets his dad voice they immediately stop what they're doing...that's both kids and dogs! I just want you to understand that just because someone doesn't smack or hit doesn't mean they're "pussies" or that they're raising "pussies". And anyway do you know what's a worse cycle to continue? Abuse. You've been treated disgracefully, but by the way you talk it worries me that you will perpetuate the cycle. I chose to break the cycle of abuse by choosing to make sure I didn't follow in my mother's footsteps. It's hard when it's all you've known, when anytime you saw anger pain of some kind soon followed, but it is possible. It sounds to me like you are still very angry and I do hope that you'll address that anger before it overwhelms you completely. Talking about hurting yourself is not going to prove anything and it's certainly not going to make the world a better place. If you want the world to change then play your part in changing it. I live in a country where school shootings never happen, where violence is a lot less tolerated (though obviously it still exists) and where clearly parents do discipline their kids as there are a lot less of the kind you describe, though there are still idiot, entitled kids of course. If you hate America so much and feel so helpless there then maybe focus on doing well at school, saving your money and moving somewhere you'll be happier. It's a lot easier for you to get into other countries than it is for others to get into yours! It's within your control to change your life by first making the decision to ignore the crap, let those kids grow up idiots because I guarantee you when they leave school the real world will be a big shock. I know this is a lot to read but you have interestingly made me feel both frustrated and worried about you. But please try and stop judging people too quickly when you don't have the facts or know anything about them.

      Obnoxious Bluebird your right about me judging fast, but i do want to say ive always been a compassionate person and i hate seeing my friends be hurt emotionally and physiclally when their the only good people i know and trust (i have lots of acquaintances, but maybe 3 or 4 genuine friends i trust and know love me and support me, and i return that love) They dont deserve to be hurt, and i know the difference between discipline and abuse, and theres a huge difference, and once the lines crossed, its known. They were discipline and raised correctly, and theyre treated like outcasts for having values outside of bullshit internet culture. Shit cant change when we have both sides being distracted by media on both political spectrums that airs to trigger their target audience and they cant even realize were all being lied to by rich people who cut taxes for themselves which systematically drains the economy and makes us all poorer as a result, so they can keep the money we assign value to and keep themsleves and their family in power.. shit wont change until people realize were being distracted by the little shit we deem as problems, when those "problems" wouldnt exists if we cut all the bullshit at the root. The root of every issue we've ever had has been due to money, power, greed, and human religions (humans selling an image of god to make people embrace death easier and make money, because we as humans will never know what god is or what he or she or ir wants, so its beyond us as humans, the only reason humans want to convince you of their version of god is to push their morals and political views. Just read the bible and see the contradictions within the text and even the flawwed view of a "perfect god" that hates himself enough to create a whole universe to worship his image, not to mention americans beating the bible into slaves heads to justify their enslavement and then ley the cycle repeat until their children were brainwashed. God exists but not in any way percieveable to us, nor does he need our bullshit money). Once people see those are the issues, progression can start, but it wont happen until we have people who stop being offened and people who see how value of money in the system and is only used as a sense of gratification, and a cheat code for others who can abuse the broken system.

    When I stare at my dog he smiles at me, after a minute or so he'll sit on my foot and expect to have his neck massaged. My cat and I have staring contests, he always starts blinkin' in slow motion then expects he can just sit on me and get a full body massage. Sometimes they make noises at me that I interpret as "Get me some food...NOW DAMMIT!" but since they look so cute I obey. Sometimes Mr. Cat makes me hold the door open for 5-6 minutes while he decides if the weather's nice enough to do his bizness outside. I feel so used.

      It is simplistic to say that "Dogs don't like to be hugged". It really depends on the dog. This kind of blanket statement is really pretty shallow.
      One of my dogs is a cuddle bug and my other dog would rather sit at your feet but not handled too much. They each show that they love me in different ways, and the one who loves to be hugged gets lots of hugs, while the one that prefers companionship but no touching is allowed her space.
      The key is to know your individual dog and not depend too much on lists of generalizations about what dogs "do" and "do not" like.

      It is definitely on how they were raised. If they were raised with people who held them a lot they are going to understand that body language a lot more than if they've never encountered it. My dad's dog does not like to be held or hugged. Just petted/brushed or sitting in your lap. Another friend's dog, same breed, loves to snuggle in someone's arms.

      Nope, if you hit a dog it's because you have lost control of the situation. Dogs need discipline not punishment. It is your responsibility to ensure your dogs good behavior around other animals and humans - not the dogs!

      I always hated watching my mom do this to her dogs (let alone her kids too; this messed me and my siblings up for a while). She was beyond stubborn when I explained that it's not helping and they can't understand, all they know is someone they love has turned against them and it scares them. How would you like it if a 50 foot tall giant that normally was kind to you was suddenly and inexplicably hostile?
      Certainly doesn't help that my younger sister picked up this habit and started yelling "No" at our dogs sometimes. Thank god she doesn't anymore because she sometimes works with animals in adoption centers.

    i would stare into the eyes of my yellow lab from about a foot away, but all she did was close the gap, put her forehead right against mine, and stare right back into my eyes while kissing my face at the same time. she was the best dog ever and i had her for almost 16 years. labs usually don't live that long and they develop all sorts of hip problems. however, giving her all of the love she could possibly handle from my family and i along with a 7-10 mile run every day from the time she was a puppy, up until about 3 months before we had to have her put down, made her happy and healthy for just about her entire life. i wasn't allowed to go to the vets when she had to be put down though because my family was almost certain that i would have beat the vet to a bloody pulp for doing that to my dog, which they were right about, so i had to say goodbye at the house. that was by far the saddest i have ever been and the only time i have cried in my entire adult life. hell, ive had plenty of family members die and i never felt even a little emotional. best dog ever.

    Everything you said was absolutely correct. Often if you go to pet a dog and he or she reacts aggressively, you can make friends by lowering your head and eyes, turn your head away a little, and then hold out the back of your hand for the dog to sniff, making cooing sounds or speaking softly. This is dog language that you want to meet, not fight. The dog will often be your friend within a couple of minutes.

      So nice to see your not a violent person. I doubt if you're a parent. When you see your toddler who has just learned to walk approach danger, a light tap on the risk and a sharp "NO" will prevent serious harm. Is that serious abuse? Go on. Make me laugh. Tell me it is. I'm not a pet owner and would never wish to be. I much prefer human interaction.
      What does come over very strongly is that whereas humans have evolved into the 21st century, dogs haven't.
      And to see dogs that have licked their arses then lick the faces of babies and young children then it is the dog owners that I would cheerfully punch in the face. And any dog or dog owner who allowed their animals to lick the faces of my children or grandchildren would need extensive orthodontic treatment.
      BTW: Please don't waste your time and effort replying to this. I shan't even read them. These are my views. I have absolutely no need to justify them to anyone, least of all to emotionally retarded, soppy, simpering dog owners.

    I have a dog that's half Rottweiler and half roll-the-dice. She's my Rottweiler the size of a Basset Hound. I was out for a walk and saw a real Basset Hound with its owners. I stared at that Basset, sizing it up, trying to mentally compare that dog to mine. All the Basset saw was this guy staring at it for 100 yards, walking towards it. It leaped at me, probably going for my throat, but I caught it with my forearm. It never really bit me, instead it immediately let me go when it felt my relaxed, curious energy. The owners were freaking out, saying "He's never done that before," and apologizing profusely. It was fine; I wasn't upset. I petted him and gave him some treats (I always carry treats when I'm out walking.) After they left it took me a few minutes before I realized it was all my fault, because I had threatened the Basset by staring at it for so long. But my half-Rottweiler IS about the same size.

    The best place for a dog to be is right next to you. My dogs would protect me if needed. I will not ever jeopardize our relationship by hitting them. Instead of getting angry, we need to educate others on how to handle animals and humans with respect. Please don't hit anyone unless you are defending yourself or others. Keep your hands to yourself! Use your brain that God gave you.

It's completely your responsibility to provide quality life, after all they only have short span of life compared to any other animals. Yelling or screaming at a dog is to me worse than yelling at a person simply because people can understand yelling but dogs dont and are kind of scared of it But cultivating a good relationship with a dog can be done -I know I have done it- is the best thing ever and my dog gets me and I dont even have to correct him Btw he came to my door in May 2017 He chose me and I am just crazy about him He had been abused I could tell but I did the right thing and made a police report but nobody came for him I am very happy about that He is a great dog smart sweet and fun and I love him He is my buddy and I swear he not only knows that but he really gets me I have always had special dogs but this guy is extraordinary and a gift from God.

    One time my dog urinated on the curtain. My dad yelled at him and he ran all the way outside and the door shut behind him. When he got yelled at it looked like his heart shattered and I felt so bad for him but it was also slightly funny at the time (because he pushed the door open and it shut behind him, he’s a small dog) but he’s never gone to the toilet inside the house again. He listens to me now too. I think he realised that day that if he listens he gets positive attention.

      Alison Butler dude, ive genuinely been disciplined and ive genuinely been abused, theres a difference, and until you learn that difference, stop calling light patting and discipline abuse. I have to go to high school with the offspring of people like you who neevr had the confidence or real parenting skills to discipline their kid

    • @nemodollaz4120
      @nemodollaz4120 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Alison Butler and there is no "argument" to it, even in nature, the dogs will bite their puppies to show dominance and tell the puppy what does and doesent work. Positive reinforcement trains your dog to believe it gets a reward for its good behavior everytime, which is wrong

    • @nemodollaz4120
      @nemodollaz4120 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Mirna Mehmedović see, the puppy isnt aware of what it did wrong, and positive reinforcement doesnt make it so they stop doing those, it just means that theyve been trained to take a treat for a good behaviour which means if you dont have a reward, they dont have incentive to act on those, and it doesnt stop them from doing bad things. You need to make it apparent to them, and talking isnt gonna help. You can scream and get pissed and scare the puppy, however thats gonna destroy the trust, a simple punishment thats inacted right after what they did shows them what they shouldnt do. Im glad you agree with my other sentiments

    • @nemodollaz4120
      @nemodollaz4120 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Mirna Mehmedović the second thing i agree with, however that dog still doesn't understand human language, and when its being yelled at, its just as scared and confused. You need to tie the discipline to the action and make it EVIDENT what they did wrong. But still, you agree with me, i agree with you, i just think everyone in this comments section is overreacting and if they had boiling water poured on them or ig they were beaten theyd know what real abuse is and theyd have a lpt more respect for the animals and people that endure REAL abuse

    1: Does anything in particular point to loud noises hurting their ears as opposed to simply being scary?
    2: Some dogs like to "talk" with people, although this is more of something fun to do.
    3: The premise for this is that they can't remember doing the bad thing, so to them you are randomly attacking them for no reason. However, some observations I have made seem to contradict this, such as not reacting to messes they didn't make.
    4: I really want to know how this affects dogs and how strict the routine has to be. Sometimes we have to skip or delay a walk because of bad weather. Would it be better for my dog to put up with rain for the sake of consistency?
    5: I assume this is referring to dogs you don't know well because our dogs don't mind a our gaze and will seek it out if they want something.
    6: I'm not sure that this is specific to dogs. What would you do if someone runs up to you to hug you for a solid five minutes multiple times a day? What if it was everyone, even some people you don't know?
    7: My dog is the opposite, she wants to go faster all the time and I have to hold her back.
    8: One of our dogs doesn't mind clothing, while the other only sort of tolerates it, so I think that this one should be on more of a case by case basis.
    9: You can actually hurt their skin by over washing them, so I'm not surprised.
    10: Most people don't really have much choice in the matter. Many households will be empty for at least six hours of the day when the adults are at work and the kids are in school, so it is better to train a dog to tolerate being alone for extended periods of time.
