Thanks man, for pointing us on a workaround for this problem. I have an old computer, and even with the F-4 on other maps I get around 50 fps average. But on Kola, with any aircraft, it is a slide show. Let's hope they can fix this soon. I brought forest details to zero, and got an optimization. Now it is flyable, with no more big FPS drops.
Somebody mentioned dcs is in the neighborhood of 175 gb with all the addons. I don’t have the phantom and channel and kola map yet and I’m already 75 percent full
175? Maybe empty ;) Mine has 720GB now + new maps incoming and for Kola seasons, looks like 2B will bo minimum very soon. They're starting to exaggerate a bit.
@@Y0Y0Jesus half asleep when I wrote this yea dcs is not 175gb 750 gb that’s wha t mine is as well I think I messed up what I had left on the hd vs what was installed
@@TheCraigHudson So looks like you have all what is for DCS 😅! Btw. I bought 4TB disc for the future of DCS (NVMe, fortunately, they have become quite cheap recently), installed already yesterday.
Disappointed ! $55 lost! Apart from the residential textures it's the same as flying in the cocase. Really not fabulous for the price! Due to very bad optimisation, even worse Mariana, do not buy Kola if you need good FPS performances in VR. 60FPS not targeted! Drop to 20 or 30. Last time i buy a map before testing demo !

Yeah... it's strange orbx didn't use the trees from caucasus map. They are more like pines.
I do remember that i used "in game" FPS counter years ago in DCS.
Now i can't find where i can switch it ON.
What combination on keyboard it is?
RCtrl plus Pause, it works still, in VR too.

Is this testing in single player only on an empty mission? you'll be lucky to get half these numbers on multiplayer
