I can't deny it, I absolutely LOVED those volcano burritos and I was actually pretty disappointed when they took it away. Always gotta ask for light rice and extra beef, and you HAVE to eat it immediately so the fiesta strips are crunchy enough to matter. Thanks for your Reviewbrah!
Dude, you’re absolutely right. In summer of 2012, I had just finished 9th grade and was so freakin sad whenever they discontinued it. But I was ridiculously excited whenever I heard they were gonna bring it back. I immediately bought a burrito and 2 tacos yesterday. You absolutely have to ask for light rice on the burrito, because they put wayyyy too much on the volcano burrito for some reason.

Factor in that my friend is Indian and I get home cooked spicy food -once in a while we want Taco Bell and very happy to get the veggie stuff ! I hope the sauce is near the heat level of her chili paste ! ( no one can make her flavor though-she’s known for her cooking ). I do enjoy the crunch wraps though !

As a taco bell employee i can confidently say this sauce is the best one we have. It’s literally great. Would totally recommend on a beef chalupa :) Oh also a chicken taco is coming soon, we watched our training videos for it today

I have actually never seen a more aesthetically pleasing, presentable taco. I'm serious, it looks like the advertisements. Normally the hard twcos look like a child slapped them together and the beef is practically invisible. They must have made that especially for you!

I think the sour cream was taming the heat on the burrito even though you couldn’t really taste it. I go my early access Volcano items yesterday and everything you said matched my experience 100%. The only thing I’d say is the burrito is more flavorful and the strips add a good crunch as well.
After a rubbish two days I thought to myself: "Wouldn't it be brilliant if Report of the Week posted?" I didn't think it would happen - but here you are, on excellent form! I never considered making burritos before but I think I might try after seeing the cross section 🔥
A funny fact about Pepper products especially when used as a condiment like in a hot sauce, is that when there is a good amount of dairy products such as sour cream and cheese, they will absorb quite a bit of the capsaicin in that pepper product, so that you will end up experiencing less of a spicy sensation, then with a product that does not have such dairy products.

Another fun fact - the same pain receptors in your mouth responsible for the heat are also found at the *other* end of the digestive system, hence the day after reward of Dave’s Insanity.
Used to work at Taco Bell back in the day. You're entirely correct about the Volcano Burrito being a bit less spicy. The reason for that is that the sour cream brings the spice level down a little bit. Tbell does this pretty often for menu items that include a spicy ingredient(examples: the 5 Layer Burrito has their nacho cheese on it(which is Jalapeno Style Nacho Cheese, according to the box that it is delivered in), so they balance that with the sour cream. Another one that comes to mind was the Cool Habanero Double Stack Taco, Habanero sauce with sour cream). If you want to subtly change the spiciness level of the item, ask for extra sour cream for less spice, remove sour cream for full spice.
I’m so excited to try these items! I’m thankful to have insightful reviews like this as the spice speed is truly something at the top of my concern list. A slow heat is good to be aware of! Appreciate your detailed and entertaining food reviews! It’s hard for me to try new foods without knowing what I’m getting myself into, so these videos help me make informed food choices 😊

7:00 I remember the Volcano sauce was quite close to the Diablo sauce packet condiment as far as heat goes. I remember buying Volcano burritos and crunch wraps frequently during the previous run.
Taco Bell in my area still has their lobby closed and the entire restaurant closes at 10 PM. If you place an order through the app, you still have to wait in drive thru because, as stated, the doors are locked and the lobby is closed. With all that inconvenience, I'm still gonna deal with it because I love the Volcano Taco.

Volcano burrito is my favorite Taco Bell item EVER. Volcano Taco is my second favorite. Been waiting a looooong time for these to come back. Cannot wait to try these tomorrow. The volcano menu will always hold a very special place in my heart. I personally believe T Bell’s downfall began once these were taken off the menu, so I couldn’t be happier that they brought them back. Appreciate you giving these the respect they deserve, Reviewbrah!

I was so excited when I saw they brought this back. Then I saw it was only the taco and burrito and not the nachos and my disappointment was immeasurable and my day was ruined. The Volcano Nachos are my favorite thing they’ve ever had.
Had this today as the meal with both, Taco is definitely a good step up on the classic Taco Bell taco, burrito is just fine, totally with you. I think the heat level on the burrito is held back primarily by the big portion of rice
I had the taco and burrito yesterday. I loved this menu back in the day and I was happy to see that it was back and that it tastes as good as I remember. That lava sauce is so good - it has a little burn to it, but such a great flavor. Even now I'm trying to figure out how to procure a lot of it and preserve it for the future. I will also say that the taco was far superior to the burrito to me. My thoughts on the burrito were similar to his, except that I tasted far more sour cream than lava sauce, but it was mostly rice.
Honestly, I feel like getting the item in person rather than delivery is part of why you got much better looking examples. I don't eat out often (very infrequent in fast foods), but takeout/delivery meals are ALWAYS prepared with less care and attention to detail than others. As much as I enjoy your reviews, could you please state each time whether it is a pickup (in-person) or delivery?

Dude the Volcano Burrito back in 2013 was absolutely incredible. Had white rice with cilantro in it and was one of the best parts about it. Takes me back to the start of senior year of HS🤣🤣🤣
Getting the volcano combo yesterday was as excited as I've been to put fast food in my body as I've been in a while. Reviewbrah has it right, these are very good items, maybe the best Taco Bell has. They definitely put more volcano sauce on my burrito because it was actually hotter than my taco, and the woman working the window gave me a large drink for free instead of the medium. So maybe that's influencing my decision a bit more positive here, but this really was great if you like spice. When the beefy crunch burrito comes back though I may actually pop a bottle of champagne...
Thanks for the clear and concise info. I suspect that the amount of rice in the burrito thats used as filler is soaking up too much volcano sauce. Taco bell should try using something else to cut the amount of rice in half, like pico de gallo.

The last time i laid my hands on the legendary volcano taco.. i was 9 years old the Nostalgia for this being my taco tuesday lunch every Tuesday for as long as i can remember is flooding back in.. The day i got call of duty works at war.. with all my old buddies. It was the best time of my life.. i can only hope that the volcano taco remains for all of those nostalgic memories to flood back in the same way they were born. I'd Imagine that the sour cream in the burrito, ( Although you don't really taste it), lends some cooling qualities to the Lava sauce, which then quells the violence of the of said sauce, along with the rice,... but that's just my 2 cents. :D
The way he described the lava sauce reminded me of their Chipotle sauce (except maybe stronger in terms of spicy). It takes about 15-20 seconds to kick in, it works from the back of the tongue up to the front and of course it lingers. Interesting.
I went to Taco Bell yesterday for lunch. Tempting though the volcano shell was, I still ordered my usual Mexican pizza combo. However, I was able to purchase a small cup of the Volcano sauce for $1. I put the sauce on my two hard tacos and two slices of my pizza and it was pretty darn good. It made everything have a nice kick of heat without being overbearing. It was also nice because the staff neglected to give me my requested hot sauce packets. Since the pandemic, my closest store has stopped putting the sauce packets out where everyone can put their hands on them.
The volcano burrito is an easy 10/10 for me. The sour cream and the lava sauce just totally compliment each other. I wish they'd make it permanent. I've gotten them like 4 times since this video, and I'm sure I'll be back for more before the run is up. I could practically live off of those things. XD
You are not an outlier in terms of the burrito sauce ratio. By default, the burrito tends to have less sauce. If you really want the classic volcano burrito experience with it, my friends and I found that adding extra lava sauce and going light on the sour cream makes it much better. Great review 👍
The only thing I know is the volcano sauce is great and they should keep it on the menu. Never get the ground beef, always sub in steak, chicken or potatoes and enjoy your not immediate shits. You can also just order a cup of the sauce on the side for now until the volcano taco goes away for dipping. It is more like a Chipotle sauce, flavorful without just burning your tongue, but is still hot and evident when you buy the separate sauce or get extra. I think his bias is conditioned by the last decade of Ghost pepper sauce which is hotter but still not that actually hot. No fast food has deathly hot sauce but some taste better than other and this one is on the higher end of tasting good.
The Volcano Taco reminds me of summer in Virginia Beach back in the 1980s (even though that was before the first Volcano menu came out) The TV commercials for TB in the 80s and 90s were the best. 😁
The volcano taco is so nostalgic. I used to go there all the time with my friends when were out skating. I’d get $5 from my mom and get the $3 meal where you got a volcano taco, bag of Doritos, and a fountain drink. Such a good time.

Capsaicin is an oil and when it binds to fat it can continue down your throat instead of clinging to the inside of your mouth

7:00 I remember the Volcano sauce was quite close to the Diablo sauce packet condiment as far as heat goes. I remember buying Volcano burritos and crunch wraps frequently during the previous run.
Taco Bell in my area still has their lobby closed and the entire restaurant closes at 10 PM. If you place an order through the app, you still have to wait in drive thru because, as stated, the doors are locked and the lobby is closed. With all that inconvenience, I'm still gonna deal with it because I love the Volcano Taco.
Wow, that location must not be able to staff anyone, or have a difficult manager/owner to work under (or cheap)
I'm so excited that Taco Bell brought back these delicious menu items. I ate so many volcano tacos when I was pregnant in 2008. Lol.

Volcano burrito is my favorite Taco Bell item EVER. Volcano Taco is my second favorite. Been waiting a looooong time for these to come back. Cannot wait to try these tomorrow. I would have tried them first day but it was a $5.95 delivery fee in the Taco Bell app so I’ll just wait the 2 days to DoorDash it lol But seriously Taco Bell: MAKE THESE PERMANENT!!!

The volcano menu will always hold a very special place in my heart. I personally believe T Bell’s downfall began once these were taken off the menu, so I couldn’t be happier that they brought them back. Appreciate you giving these the respect they deserve, Reviewbrah!

I've been waiting for the Volcano menu to come back for literally years at this point. I hate that it's for a limited time.
I was so excited when I saw they brought this back. Then I saw it was only the taco and burrito and not the nachos and my disappointment was immeasurable and my day was ruined. The Volcano Nachos are my favorite thing they’ve ever had.
Once it's officially "Out" you can probably recreate the nachos by mods at the ordering kiosk.

Had this today as the meal with both, Taco is definitely a good step up on the classic Taco Bell taco, burrito is just fine, totally with you. I think the heat level on the burrito is held back primarily by the big portion of rice

I had the taco and burrito yesterday. I loved this menu back in the day and I was happy to see that it was back and that it tastes as good as I remember. That lava sauce is so good - it has a little burn to it, but such a great flavor. Even now I'm trying to figure out how to procure a lot of it and preserve it for the future. I will also say that the taco was far superior to the burrito to me. My thoughts on the burrito were similar to his, except that I tasted far more sour cream than lava sauce, but it was mostly rice.
The volcano taco and the double-down returned in the same year. It’s like all my food dreams come true!
Must have some below low standards for food.

Honestly, I feel like getting the item in person rather than delivery is part of why you got much better looking examples.
I don't eat out often (very infrequent in fast foods), but takeout/delivery meals are ALWAYS prepared with less care and attention to detail than others.
As much as I enjoy your reviews, could you please state each time whether it is a pickup (in-person) or delivery?

Dude the Volcano Burrito back in 2013 was absolutely incredible. Had white rice with cilantro in it and was one of the best parts about it. Takes me back to the start of senior year of HS🤣🤣🤣

Getting the volcano combo yesterday was as excited as I've been to put fast food in my body as I've been in a while. Reviewbrah has it right, these are very good items, maybe the best Taco Bell has. They definitely put more volcano sauce on my burrito because it was actually hotter than my taco, and the woman working the window gave me a large drink for free instead of the medium. So maybe that's influencing my decision a bit more positive here, but this really was great if you like spice. When the beefy crunch burrito comes back though I may actually pop a bottle of champagne...

Thanks for the clear and concise info. I suspect that the amount of rice in the burrito thats used as filler is soaking up too much volcano sauce. Taco bell should try using something else to cut the amount of rice in half, like pico de gallo.

The last time i laid my hands on the legendary volcano taco.. i was 9 years old the Nostalgia for this being my taco tuesday lunch every Tuesday for as long as i can remember is flooding back in.. The day i got call of duty works at war.. with all my old buddies. It was the best time of my life.. i can only hope that the volcano taco remains for all of those nostalgic memories to flood back in the same way they were born. Thank you @ReportOfTheWeek for bringing this back to my feed so i may relive this experience.
Two things, the sour cream probably mitigates some of the spiciness in the burrito plus the red taco shell might add to the spiciness of the taco.
I wonder if the "taco shell" being the deep red had some spice as well that added to the sauce, where the burrito was just a normal tortilla, I'm super excited to try this! Thank you so much for the review!
The taco shell is just food dye. Regardless the lava sauce is amazing.

I'd Imagine that the sour cream in the burrito, ( Although you don't really taste it), lends some cooling qualities to the Lava sauce, which then quells the violence of the of said sauce, along with the rice,... but that's just my 2 cents. :D

The way he described the lava sauce reminded me of their Chipotle sauce (except maybe stronger in terms of spicy). It takes about 15-20 seconds to kick in, it works from the back of the tongue up to the front and of course it lingers. Interesting.

I went to Taco Bell yesterday for lunch. Tempting though the volcano shell was, I still ordered my usual Mexican pizza combo. However, I was able to purchase a small cup of the Volcano sauce for $1. I put the sauce on my two hard tacos and two slices of my pizza and it was pretty darn good. It made everything have a nice kick of heat without being overbearing. It was also nice because the staff neglected to give me my requested hot sauce packets. Since the pandemic, my closest store has stopped putting the sauce packets out where everyone can put their hands on them.
i wish i could speak with such articulation like RB. He is really special!
The volcano burrito is an easy 10/10 for me. The sour cream and the lava sauce just totally compliment each other. I wish they'd make it permanent. I've gotten them like 4 times since this video, and I'm sure I'll be back for more before the run is up. I could practically live off of those things. XD

You are not an outlier in terms of the burrito sauce ratio. By default, the burrito tends to have less sauce. If you really want the classic volcano burrito experience with it, my friends and I found that adding extra lava sauce and going light on the sour cream makes it much better. Great review 👍
The only thing I know is the volcano sauce is great and they should keep it on the menu. Never get the ground beef, always sub in steak, chicken or potatoes and enjoy your not immediate shits.
You can also just order a cup of the sauce on the side for now until the volcano taco goes away for dipping. It is more like a Chipotle sauce, flavorful without just burning your tongue, but is still hot and evident when you buy the separate sauce or get extra. I think his bias is conditioned by the last decade of Ghost pepper sauce which is hotter but still not that actually hot. No fast food has deathly hot sauce but some taste better than other and this one is on the higher end of tasting good.
The Volcano Taco reminds me of summer in Virginia Beach back in the 1980s (even though that was before the first Volcano menu came out)

The volcano taco is so nostalgic. I used to go there all the time with my friends when were out skating. I’d get $5 from my mom and get the $3 meal where you got a volcano taco, bag of Doritos, and a fountain drink. Such a good time.
