Thank you so much for this perfect, Fuel-system troubleshooting video! I was helping out a neighbor, and this let me go step by step through the check. I found it easier to unscrew the inertia switch to get to the wire plug. Sure enough, no power to the inertia switch. Pulled the PCM Fuel Pump relay, and the parts store had given the owner the wrong part. Replaced it with the right part, and it works!
Man this video is super , I smacked my fuse box and couldn't figure out why my truck turned off I thought i had knocked out a fuse, good thing I watched this or I would have actually looked even more stupid doing more hours more of trouble shooting. The restart switch was triggered! Thanks! Lol
Thanks bro I replaced mi fuel pump and was about to call a mechanic because my truck didn’t start. It was the inertia switch thanks I should of done some research before hand.
ALSO AFTER YOU CHECK ALL OF THESE THINGS AND BEFORE YOU SWAP THE PUMP- CHECK THE GROUND BY THE MODULE. IT IS A WIRE COMING OFF THE HARNESS IN THE BACK 6 INCHES AWAY FROM THE MODULE CONNECTOR. THEY RUST AND SNAP OFF!!!
@Lehew Tech - Replaced fuel pump and driver module on my 06 F150. Fuel pump likes to randomly not send power through when it is cold outside. Sometimes will stop sending power when you try to start it up running errands. Works fine and starts right up on almost every afternoon. Yesterday died at a light and started on the 3rd round of cranking. A bit lost on this one, any help is appreciated.

Great Video. I have a 2006 f150. It will start have been since this started. My problem is while I drive I lose power, so I press harder on the gas pedal. After a couple of seconds of stalling it thusly catches up and then loses power... This never happens when I go to work first start of the day. Most likely to happen on my way home... And after that...

I have a question, I do have a 2007 f150. In order for my truck to start when it's cold, I have to open and close the ignition switch a couple of times for it to start. It will start but will after cranking for maybe 5 mns.

And should I replace the grey pcm module to see it Starts my truck ??

I have one of these trucks in the middle of the jungle in Guatemala and have been fighting fuel pump issues for 3 months now with no success. I managed to get a hold of a brand new fuel pump module but either it's not grounding correctly or it's not receiving commands from the computer. I use jumper wires on the connector pin two to five and three to four like you say in the video and the truck starts and runs. I left it in there and tried to drive down the street but after 2 or 3 times maybe 10 minutes total running the brand new Bosch fuel pump burnt out. Is it safe to assume that the fuel pump was under too much stress because there is no return line? Is there no way to Jimmy rig this thing to work? I'm on dirt roads in the middle of the jungle maybe 15 mile per hour max speed, I'm just looking for a way to make it start.
Battery keeps going g dead. Hooked up a battery attempting to jump it. Keep hearing a constant clicking underneath, behind the cab. Watching fuel system videos. Can this be connected to the fuel pump? Trying to fix the battery issue. Thanks
Im having the same issue on 2004 f150 5.4 fx4. Have you fixed the issue? Im running out of ideas and only thing i can think of is the relay is bad. But ive read thats a very expensive thing to replace.

Can you guess any other reason why it may have happened? Like corroded wire or maybe something else. Anyways, great video.
Normally the switch is only thrown when an impact occurs, whether that be from a crash or a pothole etc. If the switch on your car threw from just sitting there then it is malfunctioning. So I have a 2007 F150 V8 four-wheel drive and when I go to start it let it run it will run fine but when I hit the brakes it wants to cut out like cut the engine off. When I go to a store I go to shut the truck off I come back out then the truck won't start the truck takes almost eight hours before it will start again and if it sits on a slant the truck won't start I have a scan tool but it's showing me ignition coil and spark plugs and like 4 other things that's showing that showing that's wrong with it but my old overdrive light kicks on due to I know that wires broke but would that cause everything that's happening with my truck
Great video!! I've heard people talk about the FPDM (Fuel Pump Driver Module) when troubleshooting a "Crank But No Start" issue. However, if this was the failure, wouldn't it always throw an error code that you could see using a scanner? Or not necessarily? I am currently troubleshooting a "Crank But No Start" issue on my 2006 Ford F150. Fuses seem fine. Need to check that emergency switch. My scanner shows "Pass" with no codes, so I assumed the FPDM is fine.
Codes can be thrown but not always. With a crank no start I always check to see if I have spark and injector pulses. To check fuel I use a fuel pressure gauge connected to the shraeder valve on the fuel rail. Good luck!

Any idea how many volts those wires are supposed to be reading? I have 9.3v from brown and white and 13v from pink and blue. I’m wondering if that relay is causing the issues with my battery getting drained from the fuel pump because I’m having major fluctuations on the dash with fuel level and “miles until E”
I have a question. It's on a 2010 F-150. I'm having issues with the fuel pump relay going bad almost monthly it seems. They aren't real expensive, but do you have an ideas of where I should start for finding the overall problem?
@@18wheeler77 Not that I’m aware of. Maybe disconnect the inertia switch and then start the engine in park until the engine won’t run? That might drain off some psi through the injectors. If you remove the #9 fuel pump relay fuse (that’s where it is on my ‘08), the pressure will slowly drain off over time. I just did this to change my fuel filter. Should be plenty to change injectors. Wear good gloves and safety goggles. Personally I wear a full face respirator.

Hey, guess what? I found the problem! It was the reset switch. I think I must have accidentally hit it when I was putting the fuse box cover back on. It's been giving me trouble for a few days now.
Ok so i am having an intermittent fuel delivery issue….. Pulling up a code without a check engine light P1237… Doing little research i came to the conclusion it was the fpdm… Wrong… Replaced and still having the problem Replaced the fuel pump… Nothing still same issue… Starts and runs good under mild acceleration feels like it bogs down then jumps right in and goes…. Gunna do a wire check and relay check and hope its simple as i dont want to have to drop the tank again…
2005 Ford F-150 4.6 2wd -Would start and die. Replaced throttle body. Ran for awhile then yellow wrench came on and engine light. Spark plug was loose. Replaced spark plugs, and coils. Fuel rail pressure sensor broke, so I replaced it. Also replaced fuel pump driver module. Cleared codes. It started right up and I let it run for 30 minutes. It ran and sounded great, then drove it 10 miles. It started wanting to die like it was out of gas, but had 1/2 tank so I got it home. I let it run in the driveway for 5 minutes before it died. Tried starting and nothing. Checked fuse, relay, and inertia switch all good? So I put a new fuel pump in it. Tried starting it and nothing? It cranks but won't start? Plus I reset the computer? Anyone have any ideas I'm out of them about right now?
Hello sir. I'm trying to install a kill switch on my 06 F150 and I don't know which wire goes from the relay, to the computer to that tells the fuel pump to start. I've located the non removable fuse that you show here but I don't know which wire to tap into. You did mention pink/blue and brown/white wires. The video from Chris Fix that explains how to do this is on a Honda, and those wires are far easier to manage / get to. Here is the video that I'm having trouble translating to an F150's fuel pump relay wire: th-cam.com/video/XUhXLsrZiE0/w-d-xo.html

Good luck!
@@LehewTech I can't find a Shrader valve on my 2006 F150.
@@WallyJ2K takes a special adapter no Schrader on 4.2
I’ve replaced fuel pump and the module and Checked the inertia switch still not turning the fuel pump on
Are you getting Power to the Fuel pump? Inertia switch? How do you know that the fuel pump is not turning on?
Lehew Tech I don’t hear it turning on I Che k passenger side ground in the front still nothing fuel pump don’t prime at all fuel gauge also us not working truck would run turn it off after it got hot wouldn’t turn back on changed fuel pump module also does it need to be grounded to the body I just threw it over slate tire
I have a 2007 ford F-150 code says P0461. Fuel circuit low pressure fuel range performance . Where is the circuit at for that code is? How can i fix this my gas gage is not working . Please help me on this.
07f150 has power to the driver then to pump but still only cranks. I cut the wire for the driver and ground it out and the truck starts. What is going on? I have tried 2 new drivers and 2 fuel pumps. Everything checks good but only starts when i ground the driver. Please help. The truck is throwing 10 codes.
I have a 2007 4.2 f150 I have changed every seems like but now with all plugs in turn key it goes VERY LOUD, KLUNK. , So again I pulled all 6 plugs now they are all full of feul instead of some, engine will spin with them out. Please help it's my only transaction and I've already poured almost any money I had into it. I'm at a stand still.
Are the old and new spark plugs the same length?
Great video. Short, to the point. 👍🏼
If my truck runs while spraying starter fluid and stops when I stop spraying does that tell me anything? (2007 f150 Harley Davidson )
Yea, it means your ignition system is working and that your fuel system is not delivering fuel
I have checked it all and it still doesn't run and do you have any other options
I have a question. It's on a 2010 F-150. I'm having issues with the fuel pump relay going bad almost monthly it seems. They aren't real expensive, but do you have an ideas of where I should start for finding the overall problem?
What would be best to disconnect if I want to change the fuel injectors?
9th fuse down 20amp. Let pressure drop down over a couple hours.
@@wdtony is there a fuse or an circuit that I can remove and run the vehicle so the fuel left over burns.
@@18wheeler77
Not that I’m aware of.
@@wdtony yes that’s what I mean, maybe it is the fuel pump relay. Thanks.
I have a burn 2005 f150 and a good 2008 f150 I change the dash an all the engine parts like computer everything but I can’t find a way to turn the truck on
I have a 2008 f150 4.2 and is not starting kinda acts like it wants to stay on for 2 seconds then shuts off any advice is highly appreciated
Any ideas why my fuel pump relay would have the cover blown off?
Having an issue with a 2004 f150 stx crew cab 4.6 v8. It has no fuel pressure even after replacing fuel pump, filter, fuel drive module. Checked fuses and none are blown. Help?
how do you or can you bypass the fuel pump relay to empty your fuel tank. needing to siphon fuel from tank .
How do I find out Why full pup dos not shut off
I got a 2007 f 150 and the fuel indicator not worrking even after i changed the fuses , but they changed the fuel pump and before that it was working , do u have any advice , and when i start the truck and turn the lights on and put it in gear it dies ,but when i put it in gear before turn the lights on it won't die .
Will it mess up anything if i push reset button
No
Can you add fuel filter and removal
I checked all of these I can hear the pump kick in but still won't start, it will fire but not run long. Any suggestions?
Best how to vudeo simple straight to the point did not drag out nithing very good
Having issues with fuel system I believe , 2007 f150 4.2 tdrives fine at high speeds but when coming to a stop it rough idles and then stalls.
More likely to be a vacuum leak than a fuel issue. I'd start by checking the PCV hoses. Is the check engine light on? If so what codes are there?
I have a question re 08 f250 5.4 fuel issue
Good night i have a question to ask u
My 2007 will only start if I use jumpers to bypass driver module.... I've replaced module twice, so I assume the problem is somewhere else.... Fuel gage doesn't work.....What to check next?
Fuel pump itself may have bad wiring on the gauge and module
Have a 2001 Ford F150 friend ran it off the side of road hit a pole, jumped over the 2 lane highway. Someone popped the steering column can't get it started
Good thing I saw this video, literally was about to drop and tank and replace my fuel pump. I tested all the fuses and checked out but the switch is hiding in the back.
Thanks. Well done
Thank you for your assistance
Dat really helped me
fuses all good. no power at the switch. Bad fuse box, or a bad pcm???
My problem is,I’m getting power to the cut off switch,is going through, but not going to the module on the back.
New pump
New module
New computer
New key
Truck wants to start, but shuts off.
Maybe I should by a new truck! Lol
Thanks
Good video,I went through everything you said, but no luck.
Hope you could help me,thanks again.
Great video, clear and covered a lot more than I was expecting
changed fuel pump modular relay power to modulator nothing to pump fuse good 2008 f150
Yes I need to know something my truck will not start when I turn the the key and I put a tester and the code said it was fuel pump module
Hey, guess what? I found the problem! It was the reset switch. I think I must have accidentally hit it when I was putting the fuse box cover back on. It's been giving me trouble for a few days now.
Gracias a ayudarme ' bendiciones '
Thanks that was very helpful
Ok so i am having an intermittent fuel delivery issue…..
Pulling up a code without a check engine light
P1237…
Doing little research i came to the conclusion it was the fpdm…
Wrong…
Replaced and still having the problem
Replaced the fuel pump…
Nothing still same issue…
Starts and runs good under mild acceleration feels like it bogs down then jumps right in and goes….
Gunna do a wire check and relay check and hope its simple as i dont want to have to drop the tank again…
Very well explained.
I have a 2007 f-150 4.2 the starter it doesn't crank
Thanks so much
2006 f150 keeps blowing 20 amp fuel pump relay fuse
Thanks!
We Should demand a recall on them
2005 Ford F-150 4.6 2wd -Would start and die.
I am in wheelchair and have hard 5ime trying finger why don't have powe
Both pink and brown from module are grounded......
Friend I have a ford f150 2008 triton 5.7 my truck loses strength and turns off after an hour. I already changed the gas pump once and it worked perfect for 3 days later the same thing happened again and in weight to do explorations while accelerating Like in the tank or I think multiple. He changed another new gas pump and the same thing happened to him, work 3 days well and so he still with the same size of 50 and 60 does not want to happen. that was the problem and wash injectors .change the throttle body .spark plugs .coils
ok
