Such a quality mechanic with great logic is rare to find and this guy shares his secrets?!? you have done this world and DIY guys like myself the biggest favor ever! I can't thank you enough Will!!!
Hey thank you for this video, I just found this tonight, my truck did the exact same thing and had the same codes and the same melted 02 sensor. I was just about to buy a 250 pcm thinking that was the problem, I already spent 200.00 replacing the VVT sensors and cam sensors, this was an amazing walk through video you saved my truck and wallet man. I will be changing the fuse in the morning and driving to work. tomorrow.
This literally just happened to my 2005 F150 Lariat with the 5.4 Triton. It has been sitting in my driveway for a few months as we picked up a newer 2016 F150 XLT with a 5.0 Coyote engine, which we love. At any rate, the battery was dead so I boosted the battery and it started up just fine. Ran it for a few minutes then decided to take it for a drive to charge the battery further and didn’t make it 400 feet when it started hitching, lost power, then stalled on acceleration. It started up but sputtered and stalled several times. Then the engine light came on and the engine safety mode display appeared. It finally ran long enough for me to put it in reverse and idle it back into my driveway. At any rate your video was incredible and really answered my questions in a hurry. I’ll keep you posted with my findings. Thanks again.
I like your approach; it's the one I used to fix a Chevrolet the dealer wanted about $5,600 to $5,700 to throw parts at, with no guarantee of a fix, after screwing up a warranty repair.
Dude, you rock!!! I have a recently purchased 2008 ford expedition with EXACT same codes as you show here. Turns out fuse 74 was a bad fuse that someone tried to jump with a bit of copper wire! Replaced it, reset PCM and now running like a dream. Hoping the short doesn't come back, but now I'll know what to go after if it does. Kudos!
Good job man I love watching someone who knows what there doing. A lot of people would just start replacing seniors or fuses and be no farther ahead . Your a dam good Mechanic
First off I just want to say thanks for all your help. Now what I did from all your help was I unplugged all the sensors and checked all the wires and made sure nothing was rubbing against any part of the chassis our exhaust then I put a Fues that I made with 2 wires on each blade then I got an old brake light socket then I solder the wires to the end of that, as well as the fuse and stuck it inside were the fuse go then I plugged each sensor one at a time until the light started to shine and that’s how I found out that the park behind intake manifold that opens and closes these two blades was bad the cmcv actuator and I also did everything you did in this video as well thank you 🙏 so much
Omfg thank u very much for your help. I threw every code. I did a transmission swapp and well thanks to u I had 3 burnt fuses. I replaced them. Rest the system and now my 02 f150 4.2l v6 is running like a mule/champ. This has made my day.. Once again thank you very much for all of your wise wisdom. You saved me another expensive cost.
This video is by far the best mechanic video I have ever had the pleasure to watch. I watched it several times simply because I didn't want to miss one word of your teaching. This was unreal to me. I am a pretty good mechanic but not certified. I can find the issue unless it is something like this. Thank you so much for this. I learned more from this one video than every video I have ever watched combined. Thanks again. Maybe this will help me in my search to finding out why my 2001 f 150 5.4 has just lost all power on the driver side. It is firing on taht side. But the whole side isn't hitting on the cylinders. Thank you again and I will search your page for one to help me further.
thank you sir. this is exactly the same faults i got as well. i was literally looking up each code to replace every sensor and making an amazon list until i stumbled on your video. LOL! a freaking fuse.......now to trace where the short is, thank you for saving me alot of time, aggravation, and money!
Thank you so much to show me about this problem my car he was dying every time when I stayed the break now I saw the ABS sensor on the passenger side is touching the exhaust manifold burning that wire in Now I replace the sensor car working really nice
Great video! I’m having a different problem where it just stalls on an 06’ 5.4 . It does this several times a day and the problem is I haven’t found a great mechanic. You know electrical and that’s worth a lot of money. I hope to find a great mechanic somewhere in this big city of Houston. So many mechanics but less than 1% know how to find complex wiring issues.
Great diagnostic techniques and good schematic familiarity resulting in a speedy repair resolution and quick turn around time to the customer's satisfaction.

Nice work!! I have a 2016 Escape S/2.5 that work provides me and it had the throttle body fail while I was on the interstate recently. Kinda the same thing, just dropped right out...made for a scary situation for sure trying to get off the road safely with nothing but a stumbling idle left. Nice to see you back.
Thank you, appreciate it bud. would kick myself In the a## for you guys if I could, I regret not making more time. Most likely be Further by now. Thanks for sticking around. nice hearing from you
Man thank you so much for sharing!!!!! Straight up the exact thing that happened to me on the highway! I checked that fuse and it was blown... checked o2 sensors and the driver side wires were laying on my muffler melted! Truly can’t say enough thanks as I was stressing about the cost of this.
I just did a axle swap, I had 3.27 gears in the car , the new to me axle is 3.73, The 1st test drive I got about 100 yards and the car went into limp mode the wrench came on & the CEL, and the engine seemed like it was flooding or running on a cylinder down, Trouble codes: P0104, P0122, P0223,P2106 and P2110, P0113 and P0114. I'm on disability so I have no money to go have a tech look at it, Is there anything I May have overlooked ? ANY INFO or help is very much appreciated. I have no idea why all those codes came up, It drove & ran Excellent before the axle swap.
Great Video. I just saw a tool for the first time this year. 2020. They have DC current clamp meters now. and some with Bluetooth. It would really help isolate the branch of that tree that was shorted. even used it to check battery charging.
Great job man! You just taught me a ton!! I just had a check engine light come on with like 5 different things, truck runs great but it's got to be something like that, it's saying tps, throttle body, vct solenoid, camshaft sensors, which i replaced and cam shaft sensor connector, which is in bad shape, im replacing that next, I don't see HOW all that could be wrong at once!!???
I have been looking for this video for a long time after watching it and subscribing but couldn’t remember your channel name. So glad I finally found it again such a good way to chase down a wiring issue with multiple things on one circuit.
Thank you for the kind words, i would honestly consider it if someone showed enough interest. with hopes one day i can move on to a better location more user friendly and welcome anytime, these current conditions would make it difficult less enjoyable i should say. part of the reason i lack content to be honest. thanks again

2023 My 2007 Ford F150 5.4 3v. Same issue, same codes. My fan clutch seized and took out its own sensor wiring. Split the serpentine belt. Again same codes you showed. Replaced cam sensors and connection wiring. Been in failsafe for 2 weeks. Was about to drop 350.00 on new fan clutch and VCTs. Just found this video. Short occurred from fan clutch failure tearing out its harness. Thank you very much.
Thank you so much for this video. I was going to go nuts trying to figure out I could drop 11 Trouble codes at once. IT was Fuse 32 blown, though I haven't figured out what caused it yet.
Awesome awesome job on diagnosing the issue. Love the fact that you're gut was telling you there was another hidden issue and you didn't give up on it!!! When will you be in the Orlando area? Could use your "gut" on my f150
Thank you. I have Expedition 2005. Have similar problem, but it exists only if is over 80 degree outside. When is colder everything works perfectly. When is warm, I can drive for 10 minutes and the car goes into the safe mode showing p2107 and p2110. I could turn off engine and on again to make engine working normally, but only for minute or less. Sometimes, even it is little colder outside, but I left car with turned off engine for few minutes only, the error shows again and engine is in safe mode. If I drive, the wind cools the engine a little, but parked for few minutes or being in traffic generate error again. Entire summer I had this problem; Winter time everything is ok. Many things replaced and checked without any cause found. Currently, driving for long time in safe mode (I don't even bother erase the codes) I got 2 more codes; so, I have now: 2104, 2107, 2110 and 2112. Again, I am 100% positive, this is caused by the higher than 80 degree temperature and after few minutes drive. Do you have any solution for this? Thank you again, your video gave me some more ideas to check and maybe fix the car.
All your Codes Are TACM Codes --Throttle Body Actuator Motor Disregard all of them ----Your Problem is Failed Cop Ignition Coils--- The Secondary Fails in many different ways & sometimes fails to ground out in the PCM Drivers & that spike comes back to the TPS Sensor When you loose the tsp, the pcm doesn't know what the driver wants to do & it sets any of those codes & goes into ETC FailSafe You Do Not have a throttle body issue with the tacm motor If it was bad you can scope it like a fuel pump & they are avail separate from buying the entire throttle body such as my Lincoln L/S There is a computer, so to speak, inside the PCM called an EQuizzer that tps throttle signals go thru & unfortunately the spike from a very bad ignition coil-- back feeds So find & replace all bad coils, look at Mode $06 Data under cylinder misfire counts If you have to-- just walk a new coil, replacing the old one, until you get to the bad ones The only effect the temp has -is that to use it as a diagnostic tool, you need to be at 90 degrees & that is no guarantee they will fail Those 5.4 from 2004 thru 2006 had bad injectors as well, that leak So between you driving in failsafe & the cylinder misfires your not aware of,your pretty much going to have failed Exhaust Converters The ETC or Fail Safe is there to protect the converter & your to stop using it immediately, as the fails safe indicates a Class A Cylinder converter damaging misfire You never clear codes or you loose all Mode $06 Data,Freeze Frame at the time of the event & other data needed & then have to drive until the Emission Monitors run again & if you have problems, they won't. So now you see why shops don't know this stuff, including dealers, that power brake the vehicle hoping to get a misfire For the DIY --just replace the spark plugs & all coils & the front 2 oxygen sensors & most likely the failed cats Have to look at the O2 & fuel trim on a scan tool & inferred cat temp etc etc
I have had o2's that folks have changed and never put the harness back like that , Easy but MADDENING !! Thumbs up .. I just subbed to yur new channel ..
Hey this is an older video but none the less I had this exact same problem, however i got all those codes after I replaced my bank 1 camshaft sensor. My fuse 32 blew so once i go checking for shorts like you did do you think that the camshaft sensor might be shifting out my system? Ps there was oil gunk on the camshaft sensor
did it throw that many codes as well? I am currently researching almost the same exact problem maybe give or take a few different codes. My nerves are shot!
I would also add that I have a 05’ Chevy Dually I restored with new motor and having a few issues. If I knew where your located I might be able to have you fix it even if it’s a cross country drive and hotels
I liked this video. I have a 2006 F 150 Lariat 4x4, and Engine Fail Safe popped up 2 days ago, and engine had no power. Stopped truck, re-started, gave it a rev or two and made it home. Friend will use his machine to check tomorrow. Looking at your scanner at the end, is that an app for phone, and if so which one are you using and what accessories are needed?? Thanks, new subscriber
Ive been having engine fail safe mode and the 2 shops I went to wanted to flush the oil and clean it. The other shop wanted to replace catalytic converter, I really appreciate any help.
Hey Will and hope you're doing well! You did a very nice job in diagnosing this issue and came to the problem pretty quickly. Keep up all that good work and try to stay cool as it's hot as hell down here LOL...take care my friend...
things are going well, Hoping to make a move here shortly if things work out. I'm trying to stay cool lol it's hard with the bay doors open, then the fan off while recording 😰 gets brutal
What were the symptoms when it was running on "safe mode". I have an 07, 5 4. Was running fine, now it starts and dies. Or wont start. Gives me about 15 codes. All sensors.
Hi sir I realy like your explanations becouse logical I have same truck 2007 I got same the issue your client I toke it workshop. They told me this may be spark plugs or coils and throttle and they keep guessing with out using scan tools, thus I rent car while I buy scaner Last weekend I recive the device I scanned I ve got 4 error code As below P 010 P020 P0130 P0440 I m not sure Last one But the code is related to airmass sensor
Great video. I'm having the same issue with my Ford F250. I'm going to follow your lead and see if I can find a short in the wiring. Very informative video. Thank you.

Thank you again, your video gave me some more ideas to check and maybe fix the car.
All your Codes Are TACM Codes --Throttle Body Actuator Motor
Disregard all of them
----Your Problem is Failed Cop Ignition Coils---
The Secondary Fails in many different ways & sometimes fails
to ground out in the PCM Drivers & that spike comes back to the
TPS Sensor
When you loose the tsp, the pcm doesn't know what the driver wants
to do & it sets any of those codes & goes into ETC FailSafe
You Do Not have a throttle body issue with the tacm motor
If it was bad you can scope it like a fuel pump & they are avail
separate from buying the entire throttle body such as my Lincoln L/S
There is a computer, so to speak, inside the PCM called an EQuizzer
that tps throttle signals go thru & unfortunately the spike from a
very bad ignition coil-- back feeds
So find & replace all bad coils, look at Mode $06 Data under cylinder
misfire counts
If you have to-- just walk a new coil, replacing the old one, until you get
to the bad ones
The only effect the temp has -is that to use it as a diagnostic tool, you
need to be at 90 degrees & that is no guarantee they will fail
Those 5.4 from 2004 thru 2006 had bad injectors as well, that leak
So between you driving in failsafe & the cylinder misfires your not
aware of,your pretty much going to have failed Exhaust Converters
The ETC or Fail Safe is there to protect the converter & your to stop
using it immediately, as the fails safe indicates a Class A Cylinder
converter damaging misfire
You never clear codes or you loose all Mode $06 Data,Freeze Frame
at the time of the event & other data needed & then have to drive until the Emission Monitors run again & if you have problems, they won't. So now you see why shops don't know this stuff, including dealers, that power brake the vehicle hoping to get a misfire
For the DIY --just replace the spark plugs & all coils & the front 2 oxygen
sensors & most likely the failed cats
Have to look at the O2 & fuel trim on a scan tool & inferred cat temp etc etc
I have had o2's that folks have changed and never put the harness back like that , Easy but MADDENING !! Thumbs up .. I just subbed to yur new channel ..
Same here, see it way to often, I appreciate the feedback and kind words, thank you
thank you for subscribing bud

Boy its nice when you see a problem like that and know its been found.
my fuse was ok. yet this has been a vary helpfull video.
Fixed my problem . Thanks !!
Great video. Please, what scan or software are you using to troubleshoot your codes or sensors. Please, help me out. Thanks.
You was very articulate and saved me tons of work. Thanks so much!
Hey this is an older video but none the less I had this exact same problem, however i got all those codes after I replaced my bank 1 camshaft sensor. My fuse 32 blew so once i go checking for shorts like you did do you think that the camshaft sensor might be shifting out my system? Ps there was oil gunk on the camshaft sensor
great video the same exact problem just happened to my 2006 f150 5.4 replaced 02 senser anr runs great Tnx this video was a GREAT help!!!
Cheers
chris scordino did you have the overheat issue?
did it throw that many codes as well? I am currently researching almost the same exact problem maybe give or take a few different codes. My nerves are shot!
I would also add that I have a 05’ Chevy Dually I restored with new motor and having a few issues. If I knew where your located I might be able to have you fix it even if it’s a cross country drive and hotels
My fail safe mode is coming on I have a 2006 Ford Expedition the throttle body and pedal have been changed im getting codes p0430 and p1000
You saved me exactly my problem
Nice diagnoses and repair👍
I liked this video. I have a 2006 F 150 Lariat 4x4, and Engine Fail Safe popped up 2 days ago, and engine had no power. Stopped truck, re-started, gave it a rev or two and made it home. Friend will use his machine to check tomorrow.
Looking at your scanner at the end, is that an app for phone, and if so which one are you using and what accessories are needed?? Thanks, new subscriber
Solid video this knowledge alone will make you subscribe outstanding job!
Did you find the issue?
Great video, thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Excelente amigo buenas ideas

I have same truck 2007 I got same the issue your client I toke it workshop. They told me this may be spark plugs or coils and throttle and they keep guessing with out using scan tools, thus I rent car while I buy scaner
Last weekend I recive the device I scanned I ve got 4 error code
As below
P 010
P020
P0130
P0440
I m not sure
Last one
But the code is related to airmass sensor
Thank you for the video. What digital platform are you using?
Great video. I'm having the same issue with my Ford F250. I'm going to follow your lead and see if I can find a short in the wiring. Very informative video. Thank you.
Hey would you recommend putting a bigger fuse like a 20?
would this apply to a 2005 Ford Expedition?
What program were you using on your computer? Loved how you could wire trace everything like you did with that program. Great video.
Same question here, maybe do a video review on it
