    • @The_Opinion_of_Matt
      @The_Opinion_of_Matt 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Wheel spacers help to accelerate the wear on your wheel bearings and put additional stress on the wheel studs. Moving the wheels out with spacers increases the leverage exerted on everything.

    • @shitloveaduck
      @shitloveaduck 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They look cool! Yup. Make the tires stick out past the fenders so they rub and remind you they are not stock. The rest has already been said, regarding stress and wear. Some think the wider stance is going to help, but if you work the vehicle to where an additional 1“ of width helps, then you are screwed already. Then the studs snap! Hahaha
      They look cool.

    • @diltzm
      @diltzm 5 ปีที่แล้ว

I'd do the exact same build as you guys except I would do a rear locker, an onboard compressor and some "real" underbody bash plates. I LOVE my 100 series (98 LX)...it can and has gone just about everywhere. It was stock with a LSD rear and no ATRAC. It climbed everything in CO even at 7800lbs. The rear locker I added has rarely been used, but is great on slippery surfaces where I can just climb up with controlled throttle vs scratching and rutting the track.

      They are generally out to promote FCA and Jeep, they really don't want the true capabilities of a Toyota to be published on the web. If you notice on a head-to-head competition between a Wrangler and any Toyota product you will see that they don't even engage 4wd most of the time on the Toyota.

    • @lukestoyz

      Ryan Martinage I 100% agree with that. They never mention Atrac or Mts or how to use them, or how they even work and how they differ from crawl control. They only use diff lock or crawl control. I believe it’s because they don’t know the difference, and how/when to use them alone or combined and when to turn each off according to differences in terrain or conditions.

Plus an ARB bumper from a totaled Hilux with Warn winch...had a local weakest build the ultimate roof rack...threw on some sand ladders (used all the time), 3 cans of fuel & 2 cans of water (5 gals each), and a lot of other must haves. We drove that truck everywhere and over everything. Rarely saw pavement. Some of the best memories of my life.

    • @practicalguy973
      @practicalguy973 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      ATRAC still has a jerky motion and stops and starts each tire. Losing momentum and stopping is the worst as it will get you stuck compared to proper 4 wheel drive that can just continue to crawl slowly. But it does give another option with all the tech goodies in different situations at least.

Seems like the 4R limited don’t get the same amount of love as the TRD versions. Just talking capabilities maybe with running boards removed and a different front skirt. I guess not exactly stock but neither is that land cruiser. :)

    "high altitude air intake" is more stupid than "snorkel" I think..
    The proper good quality snorkel actually add snorkl-ing ability on water crossing when doing bow wave technique, though once stationery it is still limited to vehicle wading depth capability.

    Love what you guys have done to the Land Cruiser!
    I been following the build and I just couldn’t put my finger on what it was missing, until now... I think it needs a headlight upgrade (perhaps retrofit newer Land Cruiser lights on it) and the bumper/front needs the TRD skid plate or bumper a alternation to make it look a bit like the 4Runner’s TRD Pro bumper.
    But overall loving what you guys have done with it so far.

      Almost every Land Cruiser in Aus, NZ or Africa has a raised intake on it. If you get the right one you can Ford water that’s over your bonnet and up the windscreen. Easy as. I had a LC 95 PRADO, older model Gc460, it went every where I took it, many more places than my old Surf’s(4runners) of which I’ve had 5, petrol and diesel

    Curious what a slightly lifted Sequoia with good tires would do. It has four wheel independent suspension. A 2WD, AWD, 4WD and 4LO transfer case. Its barely bigger than the Landcruiser. If you have an 08 to current version it accepts most of the current Tundra TRD parts like the skid plate, wheels, intake, shifter, etc. If you TRD'd the platinum model you get adjustable rear air bags and adjustable shocks.

    There's no need for a Land Cruiser TRD Pro. It's a Land Cruiser, have all the best equipment included. TRD are equipment for normal Toyota cars. And Land Cruiser is a legendary name itself.

    • @shitloveaduck
      @shitloveaduck 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Legendary name. Not a legendary off road in the 200 series. Toyota sold out to the luxury side of the big $$$ buyers and have let go of the total off-road vehicle. The additions here have made the Land Cruiser what it should have been in the first place. It is only keeping up with the TRD 4Runner and not outperforming it. I really liked the previous models but they messed up on the current one. It is still used off-road a lot elsewhere in the world, partly because it is the best offered there. In the USA and Canada, there are several very good to even better options. In fact, Toyota doesn’t sell the Land Cruiser in Canada. Too much competition and the price equates to almost $100,000 Canadian. There are many many much better options out there. Spend extremely on a 4Runner and you still won’t hit $75,000 cad and have the best possible off-road vehicle out there. The “TFL” Pro version here is really nice.

    Toyota makes a damn good offroader whether its the Tacoma, 4R or Tundra but the Land Cruiser is the cream on top legendary and every model I've ever owned starting with the FJ40's never disappoint on reliability and capability. The 200 Series is expensive and for most of us more bells and whistles than we care for but it still lives up to the legendary name plate and used around the world. I love my 200 Series and I've owned Land Cruisers for 30 years. When the rest of the manufactures SUV's are being parted in the pull-a-part yards the Land Cruiser's are still roaming the trails.

    Would you guys please stop saying that the 4runner and other part time 4x4 systems have a center diff. There isn't a differential in the transfer case therefore no center diff which means no center locker. Only full time 4WD and all wheel drive systems have a center diff and therefore need a center locker in order be a capable off road as a part time 4x4 system like the 4runner has.
