So glad we found your channel. Subscribed. We have our own dreams of sailing the Maine coast - and eating oysters, lots of oysters. Not quite ready to take the plunge. We live in Texas but love the Maine coast. We've been out a couple times on the windjammer Louis French which I spotted in your view of Camden Harbor. We own a 19' Starwind which replaced a 23' Starwind, have sailed a 40' Beneteau, and spent two weeks sailing the BVIs this summer on a catamaran. Looking forward to sharing your adventures. Fair winds y'all!
Thank you for subscribing. The Maine sailing season is so short but the Penobscot Bay is really beautiful. We drool over Beneteaus - never know what the future holds! It sounds like you have some good experience.
Interesting story! Looks like so much fun. Glad you two were finally able to make your sail boat dream come true. Hope you enjoy many more years on the water!
Good luck with your adventure! Another channel you may be interested in is called "Start Sailing at Sixty" by a couple in the UK who have done much the same thing in what looks like a similar coastal area to Maine, ok not as bad in the winter! I have wanted to do this also but have decided to join a club first, it works for dinghys and small boat racers why not larger cruising boats!
Your journey to boat ownership was very familiar! Whether we built or bought our sailboats, we went through an intensely joyous emotional process filled with visions / dreams of working and cruising on the boat. We were never disappointed. Additionally, your perspective on the "when" to take the leap was spot on: life is short with unexpected considerations! Thanks for sharing and congratulations on taking the course you have! Fair winds from Doug on WS42 Harmony
I thought someone might mention that! Before putting it in the water I ground it back and filled with West Marine G-Flex. It held up well for the most part with just a few blisters to fix in the Spring.
Love new sailing channels just subscribed. One day I’m fixing to do the same. Just not my timing. I’ll update my TH-cam channel when I do. Good sailing to you
Great vid Doug !!
Thanks Rob. More to come I hope!

Thanks for sharing, Doug. It's all about the journey!
Nice video that seems to show happiness for the new adventure. What about the keel issue?

I hope to do another video on that process!
