Damn you, Baradul. I went ahead and got the mods you were using since it looked cool I havent played MW5 since my unmodded base game campaign. Figured I could play along with you. I did not get any sleep lmao. After every mission I kept saying 'eh, lets do one more'. I finally got a heavy mech (a Black Knight!) and when I looked down it was like three in the morning lol.
and then the tech levels starts to advance and you get more and more toys to put on your mech. eh, what the hell, sleep is for the weak. one more round!
LOL yeh once you get into it you fall in to the Civ mindset of 'just one more mission'. And then after finishing the mission you spend an hour repairing, upgrading and tweaking your Mechs. And then you want to try out that new AC10 you put on your Hunchback lol
Really enjoying the knife's edge gameplay, really feels like you're managing a no-name merc company with the way every decision is made based on how many Cbills it will cost you 😂
Oddly enough, I think an lrm5 might make sense for the missile locust. I know it's weird, but it seems like the biggest risk to the company right now is losing a mech, and insufficient firepower the company's greatest weakness. Equipping the missile locust with indirect would mitigate some of the danger and allow it to contribute some damage at the same time. Upgrading to heavier stuff is the real answer, but hey, jank setups are what make the early game fun!
I think a cool thing to have for protecting communities or small bases like this is they give you a part or parts of a battlemech as a reward, like an old battlemech they haven't been able to repair. Would be really useful for early game, and would add a good degree of depth to an otherwise bland mission type.
Feel like I will enjoy watching this series, but you are crazy to have triple HP multiplier on in YAML with scary tanks... that's just absolutely insane. Absolute madman.
It's easy to forget after playing MWO, but a 64 KPH Urbie is actually terrifying. That thing is a ball of armor and ridiculously hard to kill for its weight. The only thing really limiting its survivability is its laughable speed. Downgrade the weapons a bit and slap in a bigger engine and suddenly the other lights aren't laughing anymore
Good call! Have just started my play though with these mods and my urban mech needs all the help it can get! Managed to fit a 100 engine and the mobility gyro to help it keep up at the back 😆
I decided to start this playthrough with the same mods and I swear to god any 4 ballistic 2 energy urbie is utterly god tier with a single AC5, 3 machine guns and 2 medium lasers. Don't even have to change the engine. It was annoyingly slow but I was so powerful, I was stuck in it for hours and hours but never struggled with a mission once. Was so excited when I got a trebuchet to replace it though.
Damn I love machine guns in battletech, I remember in MW1 I used to put about a dozen machine guns on a firefly and just dominate everything, so much fun before they started limiting hardpoint types and numbers, now I actually have to think which sucks...
No curby the urbie! Praise z0rg! Also Bara, I have an idea for the playthrough. If you remember a game from way back called "cannon fodder?" You started with a couple soldiers in the team called jools and jopps. And it became a meme that you tried to keep those starting soldiers alive to the end. Would you nominate a couple of your starting mechs and keep them active in the company for the whole playthrough?
On defense maps the ai always has one mech that stays a long way out hoping to draw you away from the base. At least that's what it seems to me seen that on every defense mission.
@Baradul You might want to use Stacked Crates mod. YAML will have things on the market worth 300 million Cbills . Stacked Crates let's you increase $ from picking up loot and also get engines.
Maybe on maps that are really dark like the second one this vid, you could activate your headlights? Idk if its better for you/the recording between that or night vision.
Good advice. Especially since VonBiome's did environmental lighting changes to the game now. Now the light on the plant depends on how close or far away from the sun the planet is. So running into some pretty dark maps is quite common.
@@xJamesLaughx It depends on the solar systems - there are a little more bright maps then dark, since there is always an orbit 1 or 2, but large distance orbits are not in every soloar system present:)
I hope one of these mods you're using opens up the Urban Assault Mech. Saw them in one of your previous modded runs and always wanted to see what you would be able do with them with YAML. I really want to see an Urban Assault Scout Lance one day from you.
The Urbanlord? Yeah that's in the YAML special variant sub mod, sports a RAC/5 on the right arm, Hyper laser on the left arm and two MML's, one on each torso section...An absolute unit and boy the walk cycle looks wonky as fuck given that's it's an upscaled Urbanmech that has a top speed of 64.8kph.
as soon you have cantina avaidable you could use treasur hunt for easy money maybe use 1 or 2 pilots for training max ability for the time beeing so you can use them longer and dont need them to replace them so early and you can wait for better pilots in the long run
i did try before seeing that video an Urbanmech close to this, 97Kph, 4 machine gun, 2 medium laser. Once you get a decent pilot, that thing shred light and medium Mechs like nothing
does "scary tanks" also work on the flyers? oO it seems like it, because honestly i cant rem a single time in vanilla MW5 where a Warrior VTOL could take such a beating and not tumble to the ground 10 times over lol
Can someone help me and point me in the right direction as to how to successfully mod M5. I either keep getting error boxes or the mods are out of date. Which version do I need to get all the YAM mods to work for instance ? (I have the base game only) - Thanks...
Who knew MGs were actually useful?? As usual, I started another playthru along with the new series and used Scary Tanks for the first time. GOOD GOD they are tough in early game!!
The first one heros of the inner sphere would be the top pick for me because of the hero mechs then call of arms then kestrel. Kestrel is good for getting credits and mechs but it is short.
The giant tree forest is an awesome biome. Kept expecting some swinging log traps and little furry gremlins throwing rocks.
My my. Early missions that actually make the player sweat. You can really feel the anxiety of light lance leader.
Damn you, Baradul. I went ahead and got the mods you were using since it looked cool I havent played MW5 since my unmodded base game campaign. Figured I could play along with you.

Time really does fly with this game.
Love to see another modded mw5 series!

EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED IN THE KINGDOM OF MADNESS
HAIL CARGONIA
It is Noted...

Good on you for the hard start Bara, good hunting commander!
Despite the wonky base placement in the 2nd mission, I'm really digging the biomes so far!
The base placement in 2nd mission is coming from vanilla - vonBiomes at the moment does not add or change level templates:)
Yet another Clan Invasion has some interesting toys :P Happy stomping!
Feel like I will enjoy watching this series, but you are crazy to have triple HP multiplier on in YAML with scary tanks... that's just absolutely insane. Absolute madman.
Baradul committing warcrimes there near the end, fantastic
I don't comment often but I'm really enjoying this playthough, hope you keep this one for a while!
haha I want a loop with that phoenix hawk dying with "kung fu fighting" playing in the background.
UAV drones rules. short burst lasers is OP on low heat mechs
Scary tanks seems to apply to allies too, so thats good!

Btw, always ALWAYS buy mobility gyros. Making your Mechs, even the light ones, faster is a must
Good call! Have just started my play though with these mods and my urban mech needs all the help it can get! Managed to fit a 100 engine and the mobility gyro to help it keep up at the back 😆

Dont forget you can always take the mech parts, and sell them for creds without assembling them. Makes those odd bits valuable at the right time.
Thanks for the video.
I understand the Machine guns aren’t great but that sound sooo good
So exciting you are doing these mods! Be sure to check industrial hubs in different factions. There is different stuff depending on where you are.
Ah the quad machinegun urbie. Was using one when I got "Baradul"-d way way way back.
Damn I love machine guns in battletech, I remember in MW1 I used to put about a dozen machine guns on a firefly and just dominate everything, so much fun before they started limiting hardpoint types and numbers, now I actually have to think which sucks...
lol @ **Garrison** mission "why are the friendlies just standing there?" … they're…you know…garrisoning the base…
I’m Spice, target destroyed 😂
🤜🤛

The reason I run an srm 4 in the right arm of my locust is to get better armor spread by removing it from the left arm and torso side.
The reassembled mechs are almost always in perfect condition as far as components and structure, but they will have random amounts of armor damage.
I might get the new DLC for my PS4 just for the sunflower biome
@Baradul You might want to use Stacked Crates mod. YAML will have things on the market worth 300 million Cbills . Stacked Crates let's you increase $ from picking up loot and also get engines.
Don´t you have coyotemissions installed? The Coyotypilot at Terra is awesome! Ok he costs 5 million Credits but he brings two special Cicadas.

I'm doing an only Urbie yet another mod play though, my only hope for getting into higher missions is to find the Urbanlord :P
I hope one of these mods you're using opens up the Urban Assault Mech. Saw them in one of your previous modded runs and always wanted to see what you would be able do with them with YAML. I really want to see an Urban Assault Scout Lance one day from you.
Those are nasty little buggers, special variants mod I think so he'll probably see one at some point.

23:27 those trees must be HUGE from a man perspective. Like, secuoyas?
I find it funny that you get penalty for being over tonnage... but not a bonus for being being 100 tonnes under
How big are those hay bales?
as soon you have cantina avaidable you could use treasur hunt for easy money maybe use 1 or 2 pilots for training max ability for the time beeing so you can use them longer and dont need them to replace them so early and you can wait for better pilots in the long run
Which graphics mode do you use Bara? I like missiles' fog...
If you like Urbies, then YAML has a wonderful surprise for you that isn't included in Merchtech. ;)
i did try before seeing that video an Urbanmech close to this, 97Kph, 4 machine gun, 2 medium laser. Once you get a decent pilot, that thing shred light and medium Mechs like nothing

If you're on Steam, I just went to the Workshop and subscribed to the mods. I am also only on the base game. Worked fine for me.
Who knew MGs were actually useful?? As usual, I started another playthru along with the new series and used Scary Tanks for the first time. GOOD GOD they are tough in early game!!
Bara, you would have traded a Locust for a Vulcan. Even with the repair cost that would have been a big trade up.
Should have taken the commando!
Is there a word of Blake mod from mechassault?
Good vid
If I were to get 1 dlc for mechwarrior 5 which would you recommend
The first one heros of the inner sphere would be the top pick for me because of the hero mechs then call of arms then kestrel. Kestrel is good for getting credits and mechs but it is short.
@@carloscastillo8286 thx I’ll grab inner sphere for now
You should definetly get purchase salvage mod
34:56 The real struggle of managing your own merc company…
Hey bara on steam is a mod for jump price I got mine set at 10000 per jump point
he is trying to make the game more challenging none of the mods he is using make the game easy
The guitar 🎸 sticks out of your head, since you changed the camera 📷 angles.
47:23 WARCRIMES! D:
scary tanks. sitting on 1x multiplier. so normal tanks? isnt the normal like 3x when you install it?
Can U salvage whole mech or only mech parts with this mod. Or maybe both?
You can do both at the same time if you want or just set it to only give parts only.
@@shinotenshi45 So it is matter of settings, okay.
what's the key your pressing to change mech?
Y
I’ve never seen that biome that looks like Endor. Looks awesome! Please say that isn’t mod…
It very much is - Von's Biomes
Can I get all these mods on epic? Unfortunately I have it from launch on it and can't justify the cost to buy it all on steam
nevermind i got tired of trying to mod with epic and fighting constant crashes so took advantage of the steam sale
Urbie time!
urbie urbie urbie!!
Why does my version not accept these mods? I'm not happy. I want to play like Bara.
Punch only locus... Running at 178.2 kph, can anyone say ramming speed?
need someone to play with on co-op
Are Urban Mechs actually any good? I always sell them.
Yah boi! I am going to need to do a play through like this!
Where was I on this upload notification??
sounded more like peewee herman
why dont you use thermals man your accuracy would be so much better which = far less repair bills
Completely broken enemy AI, lol
Commando > Locust
use better spawn mod and you may have an AI conflict with your mods
couldve sold the worse damaged mech n used its money to repair n refit the other locust!!!
ai seems broken....
First
wtf is with the size of those hay bales next to the farm house lol.
Early yaml mod is difficult and it's best to avoid assassination missions. I've lost many a campaign to those missions
