      Ohh yeah I restarted a career I was like 40 hours into once I found this mod. It's a huge quality of life buff if you are someone who is a mad scientist In the mech lab.

    i like that it also lets you put masc and ecm on anything. i have an Atlas with a gauss, 2 srm6, 4ml, XL400 and a masc. the thing pushes 97kph and its glorious

      I also gave mine a supercharger and a mobility gyro. 132 kph atlas. Gave all the same stuff to a spider and that thing did like 440 kph.

    An open and optimized mech lab completely changes the game for the better. Customization out the ying yang.
    My fav monster is a Hatamoto chi with 4 srm6, 2 large laser SB, an Ecm, and a 270ish standard engine.

      @@NoGutsNoGalaxy but is it working for both sides, seems like you could make any Kintaro invincible all mech type killer wit vanilla so making him even better would men there is no challenge especially late game. Is AI any scarier because of this mod?

    I think the easiest way to balance it, would be making ferro, endo and engine overhauls pricey. And i am pretty sure that author already done this.

      Yeah this mod makes building what you want fairly expensive... Short of selling my whole collection I've just settled for putting together one baseline $6 million build for solo to build back up to running a lance.

      Difficulty 80-100 multi-mission ops are where the money’s at. Do a few of those and you’ll be sitting pretty at a couple hundred million c-bills in no time.

    I didn't know about this mod and plain to download it for my career playthrough. I would like to see the ability to grow past a 1 lance unit. Add a mini game where you sent another lance on missions with some risk/reward be a true merc leader sending units out.

    I started a playthrough with this mod and it is so much fun. It makes funding hero mechs much more exciting because even of you don't want to run that particular mech yourself it will likely have ES FF or other rare components that don't show up until pretty late in the game.

    honestly MW5's mechlab was just a little nudge from greatness, if the size of the weapon slots allowed you to throw in multiple weapons (ie multiple medium lasers in a large slot, multiple small lasers in a medium slot, etc) it would of been great, or they could of gone the extra step and say that you could defy the predefined slots, but it would lead to increased maintenance costs
    it's honestly sad how close this was to being really good

      They could've made component replacements available - in the lore you can't just switch out an energy weapons with a ballistic weapon on an arm. There'd be no ammo feed and so on.
      But you could probably re-built the entire arm with the required components, that's what variants resulted from. So as a Merc, why can't a replace my Mech's entire arm or torso with ones that have the proper slots? Make it super expensive, let me include FF or Endo as well!

      @@esprit101 That is a downright lie not at all supported by the table top mechanics or lore, now it's certainly more DIFFICULT to replace components of a different type, but a sufficiently skilled mech-tech can do ANYTHING, including building mechs from salvage and raw materials. Might I introduce you to the humble Koto, a 25t custom built "Locust" that became so common that it eventually became it's own model.

      No, it isn't. MW4 only allowed you to change engines and armor. It also had different sized hard points. Large could hold three small weapons medium two smalls etc.

    Wish I'd get the X5 in MWO just to throw in four ERML's and two MRM10's with XL300 engine... Or just do that crazy sounding Cicada 3M with stealth armor, RAC5 and 3 SL's or 3 ERSL's. Quit making me dream of Cicada's will ya! Damn bug fetishes getting to me... **Makes scrubbing noises** : D

    I installed this mod, but I can't seem to equip any engine no matter what I do. I'm attempting to mod an "Atlas AS7-D". Other than that, it has great potential, though I can't drive any of my mechs now.

      I have that issue with my dervish, not quite sure what the deal was but I think it was probably loaded into the game without compatibility in the code somewhere so it wouldn't actually fit an engine, but all the other New Mex have encountered have engines fitted and I was able to fit all my other mix with new engines so...¯\_(ツ)_/¯

      You can. You just have to fly to the nearest industrial hub and shell out some cbills. Might cost you like 4-5mil in engines but it’s definitely feasible

    Dude I love this mod. 64kph king crab with quad C AC/10s and hardened armour. 100kph crab27sl with octuple m lasers. 150kph Assassin mech with masc. I have a full lance of 64kph Awesomes with a command beagle probe and ecm carrier AWS8T. The best mod Ive found for this game.

    I was finally able to pick this game up but I bought it on GOG before I realized they've stopped supporting windows 7. If I want to be able to use mods should I just go ahead and buy it on Steam? I was of course able to get it working from GOG by installing all files and then running the installer but I'm not sure how it will interact with mods. Being new I have no idea how to install and use mods, so any help would be great. Thank you...

    It's an amazing addition. I slammed 9 medium lasers into a Warhammer, maxed the armor, and still had room left over for double heat sinks. Alpha strike all day, every day.
    Weapon grouping? What's that?

    Aside from the mod, funny that you mention upgrades (just) in career mode: I noticed no one (of my favorite streamers and tubers) did a campaign with Heroes of the inner sphere (vanilla), all got to the career mode. Actually in campaign mode you also have all the hero missions, cantinas and mech upgrades that come with the career mode. But as no one did a campaign playthrough yet, nobody noticed or mentioned this...😉

    It's all cool but why does Cicada has tons of armor, weaponry and speed? In terms of balance how fun is it? Limitations are making progression more interesting, no? Like why should I upgrade from Cicada to heavy Mech? Can someone explain me?

    to be honest, when i realized that you just had to find the mechs with endo, ferro and XL engines i was pretty stoked. I thought that all the mechs were in their base 3025 form when it came out so i stopped playing. obviously the MW:O mechlab is way better though, i'm so glad to have it back finally. buuut Roguetech has like broken me for mech customization; if it ain't like Roguetech its just second tier imo

    Man, I loaded up and had no engines so sold a couple mechs and went at an assassin mission solo. They took down my ac20bf urbie first with ease, then a dual pps assassin, then I thought to take out a clrm/arti commando and the stream was too low, so I thout my dervish with arrow should go out, but I could t fit any of the engines...
    :(
    So, I sold it. I picked up a 6 t2 mlas hunchback and finally pulled off the mission solo, bagging a second hunchback for my hangar. Can't wait to work back up to a full lance and to throw scary tanks back in(had to pull that as holy crap, it got hard with this mod.

      I'm pretty sure the xl's fit the engine to the crits of the torso which leads to destruction of the engine and CT with a side torso destruction...

    I'm of mixed opinions on totally open customization in Battletech. I love the option of tweaking out a mech to your tastes, but it kills the idea of production varients. If everyone can just change everything about a mech, then the production varients don't mean anything. Right now I'm of a mind that the base mechlab should have base prices and build times, but allow more aggressive open changes to happen at dramatically increased prices and times. This would seem to fit the game lore better and explain why new varients could happen, but don't all the time.

    This mod looks great. But I do worry that it gives a bit too much freedom. Where none od the variants matter anymore. I guess it's up to the player to decide how far they want to go with designing their mechs

    I tried this mod and the other "yet another" mods.
    Inferno missiles are completely OP. Use two SRM 6 INFERNO and the enemy mech just shut down permanently quite instantly. Nothing they can do.
    A problem with the kind of freedom that this mod gives you is that the different mechs are essentially just skins. All mechs can be whatever you want them to be, and total tonnage is almost the only thing that matters.

      You act like hardpoint locations or harpoint quantity dont apply lol its not like mwchwarrior 3 where you can load up 26 machine guns just because there are slots available

    Just started playing this game, and I get recked by AI enemies(difficulty above 80) all the time
    I don't have enough space to put heat sink, weapons, nor the armour, it feels really bad.
    I thought it was my skill issue, until I saw your video.

    Playing tabletop Battletech in paper I understood the value of hard points it actually forces you to utilise and play other Mechs. And it made somewhat each mech special in it's own way. Yes we modified the heck out of our mechs within the hard point allowances and still had plenty of modification.
    When first playing MWO I saw ac20's on ravens??? 8 lasers on a firestarter when I can barely do that with a Timberwolf. Somethings were just out of whack. But since MWO Is more a first person shooter than a turn based shooter more specialization just allows for more variance and pleasure to the people who sometimes spend more time building and modifying Well known Mechs. I miss snuggles time and the funky somtimes disabling mods like a raven with an AC20.

    Conflicts with way to many mods I run and like (piratetech, start 3041, etc.) looks like it would be a game changer so I may activate next time I start a new career/campaign.

    Look, the reality is that MW5 stuck pretty closely to its timeline. This is not to say that you can't ever mod a 'Mech. Or that you shouldn't ever mod a 'Mech. But if you read the 3025 Mech Readout you'll see that most mods involved more armor or occasionally an extra weapon. The reason the Cicada only has 3 weapons slots is because that's how the frame was built. To add weapons slots you'd have to add power cables, ammo bins, etc etc etc, and it's not that it's not doable. It's that it's like, for instance, when a car gets totaled in an accident. It's not that it can't be fixed. It's that it's more expensive than it's worth. That's what you're running into here. It's not that the Cicada can't be improved. It's that it's more expensive than it's worth. If you want a real world example, look at the Humvee. Decent vehicle, but expensive as hell to run, let alone modify much.

    I wonder if there could be other ways of makeing a mech more "your mech" then just open up all the slots so that every mech can be the same with a different skin.
    I mean the new skills/quirks system PGI lately introduced is something I would prefere to be worked on, beeing improved, then jjust an open mechlab.
    Something more that would allow more radical changes/quirks but with drawbacks. Lets stick with the Cicada. Its a mech designed for a specific role. Be a bigger Locust basicly.
    So how about getting a bonus on the hit modifier for enemys. Makeing this one harder to hit when you invest the skillpoints into it. Since this isn't a PvP game it should be okay.
    Maybe as a scout it has better sensors and can provide a better/faster lockon. Maybe a 360° by default? Keep locks longer or make it easier for missiles of your teammates to hit?
    I would prefere the direction of modders or even PGI to develop more in that direction. Maybe there is something in the lore that could be used? IIRC there are different sensor manufactures that where better for one or the other thing. Take from that and put it in.
    Also how about a non combat quirk like "easy to repair" that gives you less downtime for the mech or makes it cheaper? Like "its not the best mech but we can repair it so fast that you can use in even in multimission twice !"

      It's not really every mech is the same with the different skin as each variant has its regular restrictions and hard points and tonnage...

    There's something that all these games have totally missed. Every good mechwarrior needs an equally good TECHNICIAN. Hiring and firing techs, and levelling them us should be a mechanic for what they can do for your mech. Green = basic armor repairs only, regular standard repairs only, veteren standard repairs plus minor modifications, elite; all repairs plus major modifications; Genius; non standard modifications, crazy upgrades etc. Think of Shorty Sneede from Snord's Irregulars slapping together a Frankenmech out of a Rifleman, Archer, Warhammer and Phoenix Hawk, he would be a genius tech (as well as a good mechwarrior)
    Major Modifications should only be happening on factory planets where there's access to all the resources of industry to create them. Leopard dropships are supposed to be cramped transport vehicles, not flying battlemech factories.

    it might be fun to use cicadas and locusts to see how far you can get in the campaign but i wouldnt recommend it till after you complete the vanilla game. this mod will turn the game play to extra easy mode and make it less challenging.

    seems to me the 2A is the config. If its a different config its not the 2A. Idk why the name matters to people when the feature you are calling for makes the names meaningless.

    What people need to know about this mod, it WILL remove every single engine you have, and guess what you have to buy them and install them again...do NOT do this mod unless you have enough Cbills to cover this when continuing your playthrough. Now, if starting over completely you don't have to worry about this.

      MWO sucks, it's a mess of a game.
      But MW5 with this mod? Really fun and the best Mechwarrior game i have played.
